Villa Mangiacane Wedding Guide (2027): Pricing & Capacity

Villa Mangiacane offers the countryside setting many couples want from Tuscany without taking everyone far from Florence. Palazzo Machiavelli, the main villa, brings the architectural drama: a pink façade, frescoed loggias and terraces looking across the hills toward the city. Villa Mazzei adds a second residential area with its own pool and gardens. Together, the two buildings have 28 rooms and suites for up to 60 overnight guests.

The first decision is whether to rent the main villa or the whole property. For 2027, three nights in Palazzo Machiavelli cost €39,600–€52,800 plus VAT, depending on season. The whole-property rental is €79,200–€92,400 plus VAT for the same stay. Breakfast, wedding food and drinks, and event production are separate. This is a substantial private-stay commitment, not an all-inclusive wedding package.

Book Mangiacane for the villa experience, not simply for a large garden reception.

Its strongest setting is the relationship between the house and the landscape. The loggias let the architecture frame the evening; the gardens give the ceremony a more open, rural feel. The two residences also make it possible to have a proper stay around the wedding, with family gathering over breakfast and friends spending the afternoon by a pool. Those quieter hours are a large part of what the rental buys.

There is a useful balance here between retreat and access. Guests can spend time in Florence before or after the celebration without the wedding itself feeling like a city event. For an international guest list, that is a meaningful advantage over a more remote estate, particularly when some guests have only a few days in Italy.

The price is the obvious drawback. At €92,400 plus VAT for a high-season whole-property stay, the rental consumes a large part of a six-figure budget. Reducing the wedding from 100 guests to 60 saves on catering and some production, but it does not reduce that rental. A smaller wedding is not automatically a cheaper way to book the entire estate.

Our preferred range is around 60–80 wedding guests. With the full rental, that keeps most or potentially all of the group on the estate, depending on the room arrangements. It is a recommendation about the scale of the stay, not an approved indoor capacity: the cellar’s seated limit remains the principal planning gap. Larger weddings may need a more substantial covered reception rather than a straightforward move indoors.

For a very intimate celebration, Palazzo Machiavelli alone is worth pricing. It retains the central villa experience and avoids the extra cost of the full rental. That option gives up Villa Mazzei’s accommodation, and its event-space access and privacy arrangements need to suit the wedding. Renting the main villa does not automatically make both residences exclusive to your group.

We would look elsewhere for an inexpensive venue-only booking, an all-guests-on-site wedding substantially above 60 people, or a party whose main attraction is outdoor dancing into the early morning. We would also compare a full-service hotel when having meals, bar service and continuous hospitality organized under one agreement matters more than occupying a private villa.

The 2027 rental rates

The minimum is three nights for either option. High season is May 15 through October 15; low season is October 15 through May 15. Because both descriptions include the changeover dates, stays beginning, ending or crossing May 15 or October 15 need a nightly breakdown. There is no separate weekday-versus-weekend tariff in these rates.

These are 2027 rental prices before VAT. The final proposal should show the tax-inclusive amount payable.

Main villa or whole property?

Moving from the main villa to the whole property adds €39,600 plus VAT over three nights, in either season. In return, the published accommodation maximum increases from 22 to 60, with 18 additional rooms and suites in Villa Mazzei.

That is an incremental rental equivalent of approximately €347 per additional occupied guest-night if all 38 additional places are used for all three nights. It is a comparison between buyouts, not an individual room rate, and it excludes breakfast, tax and extra-bed charges. With empty rooms, the effective cost per person rises.

The full rental makes the most sense when bringing that additional group onto the estate is part of the reason for choosing Mangiacane. It is much less persuasive if most guests prefer Florence and the second residence would be largely unused.

What the rental does and does not buy

The included residential services are a welcome drink on arrival, concierge service from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., housekeeping from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., room amenities, private parking, Wi-Fi and Tesla destination charging. These services support the private stay; wedding catering, bar service and event production are separate.

Restaurant use and other food-and-beverage services are available on request. The rental tariff does not specify whether separate wedding, cellar, kitchen, additional-event or nonresident-guest charges apply. These remain unpriced, rather than included at no charge. A complete proposal needs to cover the named ceremony and reception spaces, plus any welcome dinner or farewell gathering. That is especially important when comparing the main-villa and whole-property options.

Breakfast, pool heating and night concierge are separately priced services, not stated requirements for every stay. A wedding may have additional staffing requirements, but those are not specified in the rental terms.

For 60 residents taking breakfast on three mornings, the charge is €6,840 plus VAT. For the main villa’s 22 residents, it is €2,508 plus VAT. Three nights with one night concierge cost €1,800 plus VAT; three days of indoor pool heating cost €1,200 plus VAT.

The municipality sets city tax by accommodation category, so the venue’s €2 figure still needs to be matched to the actual booking and any exemptions. At that rate, 60 taxable guests staying three nights would pay €360. This is an illustration, not a confirmed tax bill.

Wedding costs outside the residential stay

Allow separately for reception catering and drinks, event staff, planning, photography and video, flowers, furniture and tabletop rentals, lighting, sound, entertainment, transport and any weather structure. Catering proposals should say whether wine, the cake, late-night food, bar hours, basic rentals and staff are included so that those items are not counted twice.

The everyday stay also needs a food plan. Breakfast does not cover lunches, casual evening meals or drinks between the organized events. A private estate with a restaurant available on request is not the same arrangement as a hotel where every resident can simply order meals throughout the day.

A three-night, high-season whole-property wedding

The scenarios use the 2027 whole-property rental for three high-season nights, with 60 overnight guests, breakfast on three mornings and one night concierge for all three nights. Each includes a wedding reception, welcome dinner and farewell lunch for the stated wedding guest count. Breakfast and night concierge are choices in this model, not confirmed compulsory services. The model assumes an approved layout without a substantial marquee build.

The wedding catering and bar allowance is €250–€400 per guest. The welcome dinner and farewell lunch allowance is €100–€180 per guest across the two events combined, not for each event. Breakfast is budgeted separately; a farewell brunch replacing a paid breakfast would require the overlapping charge to be removed or credited.

The production allowance covers normal furniture, tabletop, lighting and sound needs, not a large tent with flooring, weatherproof access and climate control. The shuttle allowance covers local event movements, not an airport transfer for every guest.

What moves the budget most?

The rental choice. The €39,600 difference between a main-villa and whole-property stay is larger than many individual wedding-supplier bills. Main-villa-only is not a like-for-like reduction, however: it leaves more guests off-site and may change which spaces are private or included.

The season. Moving the same three-night rental from high to low season saves €13,200 plus VAT. In the 80-person model, changing only the rental produces €160,990–€227,980 before the same exclusions. That comparison assumes other costs stay unchanged; heating or weather infrastructure can absorb part of the saving.

The indoor arrangement. A wedding that fits an approved cellar layout has a different budget from one that needs a purpose-built covered reception. The latter can change both the cost and the character of the wedding.

Guest contributions toward rooms may reduce what the couple personally pay, but they do not reduce the wedding’s total cost. Agree a fair room allocation and contribution policy before presenting the stay as part of the invitation.

Mangiacane has several distinct settings rather than one ballroom-and-garden arrangement. That is part of its appeal, but it makes a single maximum capacity a poor guide to how the wedding will feel.

The seated figures below are indicative layout references, not current venue-approved capacities. No current overall wedding maximum or approved seated rain capacity has been established. The distinction matters most in the cellar, where dinner tables and a dance floor compete for the same space.

These are separate spaces, not capacities to add together. Dividing dinner between rooms would change the shared experience, including views of speeches, service and the ease of moving into the party.

A wedding flow that suits the property

Our starting point would be a ceremony facing the olive grove, drinks in a garden, dinner in the courtyard or an appropriate loggia, then a move to the cellar for dancing. This sequence uses different aspects of the estate instead of asking one area to handle every part of the day. Actual room allocation should follow the guest count and the spaces included in the rental.

The loggia is especially compelling for a smaller dinner. Its columns and frescoes already provide a strong setting, so a clear table design and good lighting may do more for the evening than elaborate structures. A long table beneath the arches keeps the open views and architecture at the center of the evening.

For larger courtyard weddings, preserve room around the tables rather than designing to the final possible seat. Comfortable circulation, service and an easy route to the evening party are part of the experience couples are paying for.

The cellar is the principal indoor reception option. The indicative dinner-only figure in the space table does not establish how many guests fit once a bar, entertainment and dancing are included. For a wedding around 60–80 guests, it is a useful starting point for a layout, not a guaranteed fit.

The change in atmosphere is worth considering as much as the number of seats. A cellar dinner is more enclosed, while the courtyard and loggias open onto the landscape. A couple choosing Mangiacane for an outdoor evening should be equally happy with the actual indoor dinner arrangement.

Ceremony and drinks

These need their own covered settings while dinner is being prepared. A loggia offers overhead shelter, but its open arches leave it exposed to wind-driven rain. It is not equivalent to a fully enclosed room, and its use as the backup depends on both the weather and the guest layout.

Dinner and the move to dancing

A permanent dance floor uses space that might otherwise hold tables. Creating the floor after dinner may allow a different layout, but it also means a pause while the room is reset and somewhere comfortable for guests to gather. The wet-weather running order should allow for that transition, not just a seated meal.

The routes between the residences, ceremony, reception and cellar also affect guest comfort in rain. Steps, lighting and slippery surfaces matter particularly for anyone who cannot easily walk between the spaces.

What a marquee would change

For a guest list approaching or exceeding 100, a marquee or another covered arrangement may become a central part of the wedding rather than a minor backup. A viable quote would need to include installation, flooring, weather protection, lighting and any heating or cooling, not simply the canopy.

That is why we prefer to size a Mangiacane wedding around a rainy-day version the couple genuinely like. A larger covered reception can be worth the additional expense, but it needs its own approved design and budget.

Palazzo Machiavelli: the main-villa stay

The main villa has 10 rooms and suites for up to 22 guests. Its lounges, historic dining room, loggia and spa facilities make it the natural home for the couple and a close family group. An outdoor pool and garden are part of the main-villa setting.

Suite sizes and arrangements vary, and some options have additional bedroom or mezzanine configurations. A named rooming list helps match those differences to couples, children and guests needing easy access.

With all 22 main-villa places occupied, the approximately 20-seat dining-room reference is worth bearing in mind. Family meals may need a different table arrangement or another setting.

Villa Mazzei: bringing more of the wedding together

Villa Mazzei adds 18 rooms and suites, with up to 38 guests in the 2027 rental inventory. It has its own infinity pool and garden setting. The result is two residential areas on the same estate, not 60 people staying inside Palazzo Machiavelli.

The 60-person total is a maximum, not a confirmed inventory of 60 standard adult beds. The rooming list needs to identify standard, sofa and extra beds, any child arrangements, and where the €150-per-person nightly extra-bed charge applies. Extra beds are not automatically additional to the 60-person ceiling. Even for a wedding of exactly 60, the bed combinations need to suit the people staying.

Where off-site guests could stay

Villa Il Poggiale. A historic villa hotel near San Casciano, well suited to guests who want to remain in the countryside rather than commute from Florence. It is a natural first enquiry for a smaller overflow group. Allow roughly 10–20 minutes by car as a planning estimate.

Villa I Barronci. A resort option near San Casciano with pool and wellness facilities. It suits guests who would appreciate a separate leisure base between wedding events. Allow approximately 10–20 minutes by car.

Villa Il Fedino. A smaller villa stay in San Casciano, worth considering for a handful of couples or families rather than assuming it can absorb a large block. Allow approximately 10–20 minutes by car.

Florence. Our preference for guests extending their trip with sightseeing, or for a larger group that needs a broad choice of hotels. The tradeoff is a longer transfer for each gathering. Allow roughly 30–50 minutes from the center, with the actual loading point agreed before confirming transport.

We would keep off-site guests in one or two hubs rather than spread 20 people across eight addresses. That makes pickups simpler and gives guests more time together between events.

Food and drinks

Wedding food and bar service are arranged separately from the rental. Mangiacane offers event-management assistance and food-and-beverage services on request.

The stay works best with a simple meal plan as well as the wedding menu: breakfast each morning, a welcome dinner, an easy lunch before the ceremony and a farewell lunch the following day. The extra everyday meals and drinks need their own allowance beyond the events in our budget model.

Caterer approval, kitchen access, venue service charges, staffing and wine or corkage rules are not specified in the 2027 terms. These affect both supplier choice and price. Mangiacane’s wine-estate setting alone establishes neither a compulsory estate-wine purchase nor unrestricted outside bottles.

Planner and venue team

Mangiacane can assist with event arrangements, but we would budget for an experienced planner and on-site coordination team, particularly when the wedding uses several spaces and off-site hotels.

For the couple, the value of that team is having one person responsible for the budget, suppliers, guest transport and running order, working alongside the people managing the property. Venue assistance and full wedding planning are not necessarily the same service.

Music and the late-night move

The evening is best designed around a move to the cellar rather than an open-ended outdoor dance party. For outdoor music, 10 p.m. is a provisional planning cutoff. The contractual outdoor cutoff, indoor finish time, sound conditions, staffing and any extension charge are variable and need to be discussed and confirmed with the venue. 

On that planning basis, an earlier dinner leaves time for an unhurried move inside. Mangiacane is less compelling for couples whose priority is late-night dancing under the stars; the cellar party needs its own agreed finish time.

Symbolic ceremony on the estate

A symbolic ceremony lets the garden, courtyard or a suitable loggia form part of one continuous celebration. The olive-grove setting is particularly appealing when the couple want the landscape to do most of the work, while the courtyard brings the architecture closer to the ceremony. Seating, shade and the alternative in rain should follow the selected space.

A legally binding civil ceremony

The Comune di San Casciano in Val di Pesa’s published civil-ceremony locations include its council chamber, library, Teatro Niccolini, Castello il Palagio and Villa Il Poggiale. Villa Mangiacane is not on that list. The practical route is a separate legal ceremony and an on-estate symbolic celebration, unless the municipality and venue establish authorization for the intended space and date.

Foreign couples should start the paperwork well ahead of the trip. Requirements depend on nationality and residence, and an interpreter may be necessary. The municipality asks nonresident foreign couples to send documents for checking at least two weeks before the wedding and attend an appointment at least three days beforehand. Those are the final administrative steps, so preparation needs to begin much earlier.

Florence is the most convenient starting point. The venue places Florence Airport about 23 km away and offers transfers on request. Guests arriving by rail can use Firenze Santa Maria Novella and book the final road transfer to the estate.

For the wedding, arrange transport in both directions and consider an earlier return for guests who are not staying until the end. Final departures should follow the approved event finish rather than an assumed music extension.

Private parking is included; suitable coach size and turning space are not specified. The transport operator will need those details to choose vehicles and a loading point. In Florence, one practical group pickup is usually easier than trying to serve every hotel individually.

Step-free access between rooms and event spaces is unconfirmed. Guests with mobility needs will need a room and route plan suited to the actual ceremony, dinner and party locations.

Guests staying on the estate can manage the wedding weekend without a car when arrivals, meals and departures are organized. A car is more useful for independent exploration before or after the celebrations. Off-site guests should not have to rely on finding a late-night taxi back to a rural hotel.

Our first choices would be late May, June or September. Those dates sit within the high-season rental band, but they give the garden and loggia wedding the best balance of outdoor potential and guest comfort.

July and August call for a later ceremony, shade and water, not a long afternoon seated in direct sun. Lower average rainfall does not remove the need for a weather plan.

Early May is the most interesting spring value window because the low-season tariff runs to the May 15 boundary. It saves €13,200 plus VAT over three nights compared with high season, in exchange for a greater reliance on covered spaces.

October needs the same distinction. Dates before the October 15 boundary remain high season; moving into the later low-season period reduces rental cost, not rain risk. We would be happier choosing those dates for a wedding whose indoor arrangement is part of the attraction.

Winter and early spring also fall within the low-season tariff, but opening arrangements, heating and event availability are not specified. They suit consideration of an indoor-led celebration rather than the same garden itinerary at a lower price.

A three-night stay allows an arrival evening, the wedding day and a slower day afterward. One sensible shape is Friday arrival and welcome dinner, Saturday ceremony and reception, Sunday pool time and a farewell lunch, then Monday departure. 

Keep the welcome evening deliberately different from the wedding. A relaxed garden dinner or an approved poolside gathering can make good use of the second residence without trying to match the production of the main reception. The farewell meal should feel easy for guests and leave enough time for people with early departures.

For residents, Mangiacane offers experiences on request, including cooking classes, wine-related activities, yoga, cycling and spa treatments.

We would resist filling all three days with excursions. A short stay at this rental level should leave guests time to enjoy the house and grounds. Florence works particularly well before or after the villa weekend, when a city visit does not compete with the wedding’s shared time.

The most useful booking conversation centers on three decisions.

What does our chosen rental include, and what is the total payable? The answer should distinguish the main villa from the whole property, identify private event areas and permitted gatherings, and show VAT and all mandatory supplements alongside payment, cancellation and security terms.

What would our wedding look like in rain? Ask for the actual seated layout and sequence from ceremony through dancing, including any room changeover or separately priced covered structure.

How will the guest stay and evening work? A rooming list, meal arrangements, outdoor-music cutoff, indoor finish and off-site transport plan should work together around the people coming, not just the estate’s headline accommodation figure.

Villa La Selva: compare the inclusions

Villa La Selva is worth considering when the main priority is a shared stay on a wine estate. Its wedding offering includes accommodation for up to 50, breakfast and housekeeping. The important comparison with Mangiacane is what comes inside the rental and event package, rather than simply comparing nightly prices. The setting is a countryside wine retreat rather than a villa looking back toward Florence.

Villa Cetinale: compare the garden experience

Cetinale is the more natural alternative when the historic gardens are the main reason for choosing Tuscany. It caps weddings at 100 and offers accommodation for 48 across four houses. Mangiacane places more emphasis on the frescoed villa and access to Florence; Cetinale offers a different estate and garden experience near Siena.

Villa Cora: compare the hospitality model

Villa Cora is the alternative to investigate when a Florence hotel experience matters more than a private estate rental. It offers wedding and event services within a hotel setting, changing how guest meals, service and the city portion of the trip can work. The comparison is between room-block and private-estate arrangements, with the hotel’s event-space access and privacy conditions part of that choice.
