Borgo Laticastelli Wedding Guide (2027): Cost, Capacity & Everything to Know

Borgo Laticastelli is a restored medieval hamlet above the Crete Senesi near Rapolano Terme, roughly 20 km from Siena. It operates as a four-star country relais with its own rooms, restaurant, professional kitchen, infinity pool and event team, so a wedding here feels closer to taking over a small Tuscan village-hotel than renting a private villa for a day.

The 2027 pricing is relatively straightforward. Exclusive use is €7,500 per night in low season, €10,500 in mid season and €12,500 in high season, before 10% VAT. The minimum stay is two or three nights depending on season and whether the stay is midweek or over a weekend. The wedding-day fee is €300, while the in-house reception menu starts at €155 per person plus 10% VAT, excluding wine.

The strongest practical feature is how much of the weekend can happen in one place. The buyout includes 32 rooms and suites for 74 guests before extra beds, with approved additions taking the total to as many as 80. Outdoor celebrations can reach 120 guests in the core wedding plan and up to 150 in the Fountain Garden. The indoor and covered Plan B is smaller at roughly 80–100. That gap matters more than the headline outdoor maximum.

Laticastelli’s biggest advantage is integration. The 2027 buyout puts the rooms, breakfast, pool access, restaurant, basic event equipment and most of the celebration inside one hospitality operation. Food, drinks, planning and some premium setups are still separate, but you are not piecing together an empty villa, an outside caterer and a guest hotel from scratch.

That structure is especially efficient around 60–90 guests. At 80, the entire guest list can potentially sleep on site if the extra-bed configuration works for your group. Even close to 90, only a small overflow group needs transport. The fixed venue cost is also easy to see upfront: three high-season nights are €37,500 before VAT, or €41,250 including the stated 10% VAT.

The main tradeoff is the rain plan. Outdoors, Laticastelli has several strong choices: the pool, Fountain Garden, borgo street and panoramic terrace. The Fountain Garden is advertised up to 150, while the core wedding plan runs to 120. Indoors, La Taverna Toscana, two internal rooms and the covered terrace are described for roughly 80–100. A 100-person seated rainy-day layout with dinner, bar, service and entertainment is not documented, so the lower end is the more comfortable planning threshold.

That is why our preferred range is around 60–90 guests rather than the full outdoor maximum. At that size, Laticastelli works as a true wedding village: most or all guests can stay together, the indoor backup is more credible, and the in-house catering model keeps production relatively contained. At 100–120, the property can still make sense, but weather planning becomes central to the booking rather than a detail to solve later.

Laticastelli is less well suited to couples who want a highly customized outside-catering production, a confirmed 120-person indoor ballroom or a legally binding ceremony on the borgo without an off-site civil component. It is much stronger for couples who want a relaxed multi-day house-party feel with the convenience of a working hotel and restaurant.

The nightly rates cover exclusive use of the property, accommodation, breakfast and swimming-pool use. 

For the minimum three-night high-season stay, the rental therefore calculates to €37,500 before VAT or €41,250 including 10% VAT. A three-night mid-season weekend is €31,500 before VAT or €34,650 including VAT. A three-night low-season weekend is €22,500 before VAT or €24,750 including VAT.

The VAT-inclusive starting food price is €170.50 per person before wine. That gives a starting food line of €13,640 for 80 guests, €17,050 for 100 or €20,460 for 120. The menu is tailored after tastings with the chef, so these are arithmetic floors rather than expected final catering bills.

Wine is not included in the €155 reception price. Bar service, wine packages, late-night food, staffing beyond the base menu and any minimum beverage spend sit outside that starting figure.

Specialty rentals, custom furniture, upgraded tabletop, large lighting builds and any equipment not in the venue inventory remain separate. The venue can help source outside material when required.

Payments and cancellation

The exclusive-use payment schedule is clear: 30% at contract signing, 50% of the remaining amount 180 days before the event and the full remaining rental balance 60 days before the event.

The 80-person base case assumes a three-night September 2027 high-season stay, 80 wedding guests, 74–80 overnight guests, one wedding reception, a simple welcome pizza party, the €4,500 in-house planning fee quoted for that September proposal, wine and bar service, professional suppliers and local guest transport. It assumes the existing indoor spaces are sufficient and no marquee or major temporary structure is required.

The point of the model is not that an 80-person wedding will cost exactly €97,000 or €141,000. It shows why the venue can be relatively efficient to produce: basic tables, chairs and dishes are on site, catering is in-house, and most or all of an 80-person group can sleep at the borgo. A private villa that begins with an empty lawn and off-site lodging can create larger rental and transport lines.

The most useful way to read Laticastelli’s capacity is as three different numbers: up to 120 for the core outdoor wedding plan, up to 150 in the Fountain Garden, and roughly 80–100 for the clearest indoor/covered backup.

The 150-person Fountain Garden figure is space-specific, not a general wedding capacity with equivalent indoor backup. The broader event material is built around 120 guests, while the Plan B is smaller. At 120–150 guests, weather infrastructure becomes part of the venue decision, not an optional production upgrade.

How we would use the property

For 70–90 guests, a natural sequence is a symbolic ceremony in the Fountain Garden or another panoramic setting, aperitivo around the pool or terrace, dinner in the borgo street or Fountain Garden, then dancing in La Cava/Aia. That lets each part of the hamlet do a different job and keeps the late-night portion away from the pool area after its 9 p.m. music limit.

For 100–120 guests, the dinner location should be chosen together with the wet-weather layout. If an outdoor dinner is the reason you are booking Laticastelli, a marquee or other covered structure may become important, but the current terms do not establish whether one is permitted or where it could be installed.

Laticastelli has a genuine indoor fallback, which is a meaningful advantage over venues that rely entirely on tents. Plan B combines La Taverna Toscana, two internal rooms and the covered Brunello Terrace, with capacity described at roughly 80–100 guests.

The question is how the upper end works in practice. Once dinner tables, service routes, a bar, speeches and entertainment are added, 100 guests can use space very differently from 80. Until a 100-person seated plan is documented, we would treat roughly 80 as the more comfortable fully seated rainy-day number.

On a wet day, the whole sequence needs to work: ceremony, aperitivo, dinner and dancing. If La Taverna is already set for dinner, drinks need a separate covered zone that does not block service; if La Cava handles the late-night party, the route between spaces also needs to work in poor weather. Here, the quality of the rain plan depends as much on circulation and room turnover as on a single capacity number.

Above roughly 90 guests, a marquee or other covered structure may be the cleanest way to preserve the outdoor character of the celebration. Permission, location, anchoring, flooring, power and the venue’s weather-decision deadline are not established in the current terms.

The 2027 exclusive-use rate includes 32 rooms and suites. The listed room inventory sleeps 74 before extra beds and up to 80 with approved additions. The September 2027 room breakdown is 12 Classic, 7 Superior, 5 Junior Suites, 5 Garden Suites and 3 Luxury Suites.

That is a major part of Laticastelli’s value. A 60- to 80-person wedding can potentially keep essentially the entire group in one place for the full stay. Even at 100 guests, the overflow group is small enough to consolidate into one nearby hotel or Siena block rather than scattering dozens of guests across rural villas.

The wider property also advertises Palio Apartment, Villa Limonaia and Villa Belvedere in addition to the room and suite categories. They are not part of the stated 74–80-person wedding inventory and should not be counted into the buyout unless the contract includes them.

Room types

• Classic rooms: double or twin setup; cots available.
• Superior rooms: larger rooms with sitting area; extra bed available on request.
• Junior Suites: bedroom plus separate lounge with sofa bed, useful for families.
• Garden Suites: larger rooms with differing layouts and countryside views.
• Luxury / named suites: higher-category rooms including Suite Deliziosa and Suite Magnifica.

Use 32 rooms as the booking figure. A separate descriptive room list elsewhere in the wedding material adds to 33, while both the 2027 rate card and the September room breakdown state 32. The final contract should attach the actual rooming list rather than relying on category totals.

Where overflow guests should stay

For a small overflow group, the easiest solution is usually Rapolano Terme or another nearby country property so transfers remain short. For a larger block, Siena gives guests far more hotel inventory, restaurants and sightseeing, while still sitting about 20 km from the venue. The tradeoff is a longer shuttle and the access constraints of Siena’s historic center.

Hotel Athena is a practical Siena option because it sits inside the historic walls, offers on-site parking and has several room categories including family rooms. It works well for guests who want to stay in town while still making coach or minibus logistics manageable.

For the wedding day, we would keep off-site guests in one or two hubs and run scheduled transportation rather than rely on taxis. The venue itself recommends hiring a car for independent stays because of the rural setting.

In-house catering

Laticastelli’s in-house restaurant is central to the wedding model. The reception menu starts at €155 + 10% VAT per person, excluding wine, and the venue also publishes starting prices for pasta, pizza and BBQ parties. The final wedding menu is customized with the couple and chef after tastings.

That is operationally simpler than bringing an outside caterer into a rural villa, but it also means the venue’s own food program is a meaningful part of the booking decision. The full F&B budget needs the wine list, bar package, children’s and vendor meals, late-night food, staffing assumptions and tasting terms, because €155 is only the starting food price.

Planning and vendors

For the September 2027 proposal, the in-house planning team is priced at a flat €4,500. Laticastelli will also work with an outside wedding planner. Photography, hair and makeup, musicians, transfers, thermal treatments, horseback riding and cooking classes can be arranged separately and are not included in the rental.

Outside specialists can be used for many services, but the terms do not set out a compulsory supplier list, corkage policy, outside-cake rule or supplier fee beyond the in-house food model. Those items belong in the final event agreement rather than being inferred from past weddings.

Music and late night

The wedding terms do not impose a general music closing time indoors or outdoors, with one clear exception: pool-area music ends at 9 p.m. La Cava is positioned as the late-night party space for DJ or live music.

That is a time rule, not a promise of unlimited volume. The event agreement should state the approved party space, any decibel limits, door and window rules, outdoor speaker locations, bar close and final guest-departure time. 

Symbolic ceremonies are clearly part of the Laticastelli wedding offer, including panoramic settings around the gardens and pool. A September 2027 proposal priced the premium panoramic symbolic ceremony at €700.

For couples who want the legal and symbolic moments on the same day, the practical structure is a civil ceremony at an authorized municipal venue followed by a symbolic ceremony at Laticastelli, unless the municipality and borgo have newer written authorization. Paperwork for foreign citizens varies by nationality and should be handled with the municipal office.

Borgo Laticastelli sits in Rapolano Terme, about 20 km from Siena. The property estimates roughly one hour by road from Florence or Perugia airports and around 2.5 hours from Pisa or Rome. For planning, we would allow about 1 hour 15 minutes from Florence, about 1 hour from Perugia, 2–2.5 hours from Pisa and 2.5–3 hours from Rome, with the final approach via the Rapolano Terme exit from the E78 / Siena-Bettolle route.

These are planning allowances rather than live journey times. For a destination wedding, the easiest setup is pre-arranged airport transfers for the residential group and scheduled shuttles for any guests staying in Siena or elsewhere off property.

A wedding with most guests sleeping at Laticastelli has a genuine logistics advantage: once they arrive, they can attend breakfast, the welcome event, wedding and pool time without daily coach movements. That benefit is one reason the property becomes less efficient if a large portion of the 32-room inventory goes unused.

The 2027 rate calendar creates a clear tradeoff between weather and cost. High season runs June 1 through September 20. May and late September to October 20 are mid season, while March 1 to May 1 and October 21 onward fall into the lower rate band.

The weather figures are Siena regional climate normals, not a forecast for the borgo. They show why June and early September are the classic choices: warm conditions with long outdoor evenings, but less midsummer heat than July and August.

May is the most interesting value month. It sits in mid season from May 2, reducing the nightly rent from €12,500 to €10,500 before VAT, while average daytime highs are around 23°C. The tradeoff is a greater chance of rain than in July, so the indoor plan matters more.

Late September is also attractive. After September 20, the venue drops to mid-season pricing, but regional rainfall begins to rise. October becomes cooler and wetter, and after October 20 the rental falls to the low-season rate. We would only chase that saving with a wedding size that fits the indoor plan comfortably.

July and August give the driest conditions but bring the strongest heat. For an outdoor ceremony, schedule later in the day, build in shade and hydration, and use the pool and indoor spaces as daytime relief rather than asking guests to sit outside during the hottest hours.

Villa Cetinale. Compare it if you want a more formal historic garden estate and a true private-house week. Cetinale caps weddings at 100 and accommodates 48 across four houses, so Laticastelli is stronger for keeping a larger share of the guest list together and for in-house restaurant operations. Cetinale’s formal gardens and private-estate experience are the different draw.

Castello di Celsa. Compare it if the rain plan matters more than hotel-style accommodation. Celsa offers multiple wedding settings including the Granaio, while operating as a private residence rather than a 32-room relais. Laticastelli is the more integrated lodging-and-catering proposition.

Borgo Santo Pietro. Compare it if you want a full five-star hotel experience rather than a 32-room relais. Its current wedding material supports celebrations up to 100 guests and pairs the property with nearby San Galgano for ceremonies. The tradeoff is a more hotel-led experience rather than taking over a small medieval borgo.

Tenuta di Artimino. Compare it if proximity to Florence and broader resort infrastructure matter more than being near Siena. Artimino combines a historic Medici villa with hotel, village accommodation, restaurants and wellness facilities.
