Tenuta Corbinaia is a nineteenth-century estate outside Montespertoli, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, formal gardens and terraces. It feels more like a private Tuscan house than a hotel, but it has more wedding infrastructure than many villas of this scale: three connected indoor rooms, an eight-bedroom main villa, and an on-site civil ceremony option recognized by the Comune di Montespertoli.

For couples comparing venues, two numbers matter immediately. The first is the 2027 buyout, at €25,500-€35,500 plus 22% VAT for two or three nights. The second, the practical capacity is 110-120 guests. That is the round-table capacity of the Winter Garden, or Crystal, and the estate says it usually does not accept larger weddings. The connected Red Room holds 90 and the Fireplace Room 80, giving smaller weddings useful flexibility for dinner, drinks and dancing.

That makes Corbinaia particularly comfortable around 70-100 guests. At that size, dinner can fit in the Winter Garden with some breathing room while the other rooms remain available for cocktails, dancing or a weather-related transition. A wedding at 110-120 is still within the estate's stated range, but it uses much more of the available indoor capacity and leaves less flexibility for production and circulation.

The location is another strength. Florence is close enough for international arrivals, Empoli gives guests a practical rail hub, and a legally binding civil ceremony can take place on the estate. For a destination wedding, that removes the need to send everyone to a separate town hall for the legal ceremony.

The tradeoffs are straightforward. The villa has only 16 confirmed standard sleeping places, so most guests will stay elsewhere. Live outdoor music stops at 9 p.m., lounge music outside can continue until 11:30 p.m., and a later party moves indoors with paid DJ extensions after midnight.

Corbinaia is a strong fit for roughly 70-100 guests who want a legal on-site ceremony, an outdoor Tuscan dinner when weather allows and an indoor fallback that still feels like part of the venue. It is less well suited to couples who want most guests sleeping together, a wedding above 120, a late outdoor live band or a fully bundled hotel-style package.

These are stay totals, not nightly rates. Check-in is listed from 12:30 p.m. and checkout at 10:30 a.m. The two-night minimum applies to the villa buyout.

The weekend premium is modest: €2,000 before VAT, or €2,440 including 22% VAT, for either a two- or three-night stay. The third night costs an additional €8,000 before VAT, or €9,760 including VAT, compared with the corresponding two-night package.

Breakfast

International breakfast is optional at €40 + 22% VAT per person, per night. That is €48.80 per person including VAT. For 16 resident guests, breakfast calculates to €1,561.60 for two nights or €2,342.40 for three nights.

Late-night DJ extensions

Fireworks

The venue publishes a €150 + VAT charge for fireworks logistics and cleaning using its trusted operator. Including 22% VAT, that is €183. It is explicitly not the price of the fireworks show itself.

What sits outside the venue line

Wedding production sits outside the published rental. Budget separately for catering and beverages, entertainment, flowers, planning and event staff, furniture and linens, photography and video, guest transport and any weather infrastructure. The estate can share preferred supplier contacts after booking.

The rounded €110,000-€190,000 range for 80 guests is a partial planning range. It excludes the off-property hotel rooms, flights, attire, rings, honeymoon, a substantial tent or marquee, and any supplier taxes not already included. 

The most useful capacity number is 110-120 guests in the Winter Garden at round tables. The estate says it usually does not accept weddings larger than that, which is more meaningful than a vague maximum attached to the grounds.

The three indoor rooms communicate and can operate together, but their capacities are not additive. The useful ceiling remains the estate's own 110-120 guest threshold, with the Winter Garden providing the largest single seated layout.

How we would use the property

For a wedding around 80-100 guests, a natural flow would be an outdoor civil or symbolic ceremony, aperitivo by the pool or on a terrace, dinner outdoors at the Piazza of the Sphinxes or another approved terrace, then dancing in the Fireplace Room. If the weather changes, the Winter Garden is large enough to bring the full dinner indoors within that preferred guest range.

The exact sequence will depend on the final floor plan and weather plan, but the estate has enough distinct spaces to move guests through the day without every part of the celebration feeling like the same room.

Corbinaia has a stronger rain-plan foundation than many private Tuscan estates because its largest indoor dinner room is close to the venue's overall wedding limit.

For roughly 70-100 guests, the Winter Garden's 110-120 round-table capacity leaves useful flexibility, while the Red Room and Fireplace Room can support the ceremony, drinks or dancing. At 110-120 guests, that margin narrows considerably once you add service space, entertainment, bars and a dance floor.

A workable wet-weather sequence should answer four practical questions:

• Ceremony: which indoor room seats the full guest count?
• Cocktails: where do guests gather if the Winter Garden is already set for dinner?
• Dinner: does the 110-120 figure still work with the chosen table layout, service lanes and production?
• Dancing: can the party move directly to the Fireplace Room without a disruptive reset?

A marquee policy is not published, so a tent should not be treated as part of the backup plan unless the estate approves it for the wedding date.

For a 70-100 person wedding, the indoor plan is one of Corbinaia's real advantages. For a wedding close to 120, we would want the wet-weather floor plan settled before booking rather than assuming the maximum number will work in every layout.

The main villa

The main villa is approximately 800 m² over three floors, with eight double bedrooms and six bathrooms. Eight double rooms provide 16 confirmed standard sleeping places. 

Where to put everyone else

There are two sensible ways to handle the remaining guests: create a countryside cluster around Montespertoli, or prioritize transport simplicity and place a larger group around Empoli.

• Hotel Il Sole, Empoli: Why it works: Immediately by Empoli station, useful for guests arriving by train. Tradeoff: Smaller city hotel; room-block size must be checked
• Borgo Divino, Montespertoli countryside: Why it works: 23 rooms and suites; 54 standard beds, with more places possible using sofa beds; pool and restaurant. Tradeoff: Rural transfers still need to be organized

For a 90-110 person wedding, we would usually keep most off-property guests in one or two hubs rather than scatter them across many small villas. Empoli is the easiest transport base because the venue identifies it as the nearest railway station, roughly 10 minutes away by car.

Catering and suppliers

Corbinaia is a location-and-stay venue rather than a turnkey wedding package. Catering and beverages, DJ, flowers, event coordination and staffing, chairs, tables, linens and additional decor all sit outside the published rental. The estate can provide supplier contacts after booking.

Music: understand the three different cutoffs

Corbinaia distinguishes between live outdoor music, outdoor lounge music and the later indoor party:

• Live outdoor music, including groups, singers, percussion and folklore-style shows, is allowed until 9 p.m.
• Outdoor lounge music can continue until 11:30 p.m.
• Live music indoors is permitted until midnight.
• The standard late party then moves inside. Additional DJ-set hours are sold in one-hour blocks from midnight to 3 a.m.

Where the venue's own sound systems are available, specifically in the Winter Garden and Fireplace Room, those systems must be used without adding speakers.

Legally binding civil ceremony

Yes. The Comune di Montespertoli currently lists Tenuta Corbinaia, Via Corbinaia 12, as a separate civil-status office where civil marriages may be celebrated. The municipality requires a formal booking request, and the witness form plus proof of the municipal fee must be submitted at least 15 days before the ceremony.

The latest municipal tariff located for private civil-status venues is dated 2025. It lists €800 for non-residents Monday-Friday, €1,000 on Saturday or Sunday and €2,000 on calendar holidays. Treat those as a reference only until Montespertoli publishes or confirms the fee for the actual wedding year.

Foreign couples

Foreign citizens generally need a valid passport and a Nulla Osta or the nationality-specific equivalent. Depending on the country, documents may also need legalization, an apostille or an official translation, and an interpreter is required when a couple cannot understand Italian. Because the paperwork depends on nationality and residence status, this part of the planning should begin early.

Symbolic and religious ceremonies

Symbolic ceremonies can use the gardens and terraces. The current venue material does not establish an on-site consecrated chapel or a Catholic wedding process, so couples wanting a religious ceremony should plan around a separate church unless the estate confirms another option.

Tenuta Corbinaia sits in the Montespertoli countryside but is unusually close to major transport for a rural estate. The venue places Florence's historic center about 40 minutes away, Florence Airport about 45 minutes away, and Empoli station about 10 minutes away by car.

These are planning allowances rather than live journey times. Traffic, baggage collection and group loading can add time.

Empoli is especially useful because it sits on the Florence-Pisa regional rail line. Guests can travel there independently and use a pre-arranged transfer for the final leg, while the couple concentrates wedding-day shuttles around one or two hotel pickup points.

If the party is extended to 1, 2 or 3 a.m., organized return transport becomes especially useful. For a large coach, the venue and transport company should also agree the final approach, turning space and pickup point in advance.

Late May, June and September are the strongest starting points for most couples. Corbinaia's outdoor spaces are central to the experience, but its indoor rooms are substantial enough that a shoulder-season date does not automatically turn the wedding into a weather gamble.

June offers long evenings and lower average rainfall than spring or autumn, but average daytime highs are already close to 30°C. July and August are hotter, so a later ceremony, shade and easy access to water matter more.

September stays warm while avoiding the average midsummer high, although rainfall rises. October is materially wetter on the regional normals. Corbinaia handles that tradeoff better than many villas because a 70-100 person wedding can move indoors without immediately requiring a temporary structure.

A three-night stay gives the weekend more breathing room: arrival and a welcome gathering, the wedding day, a slower post-wedding meal or poolside gathering, then departure. The gardens, terraces, pool and indoor rooms are varied enough that those events can feel distinct.

The current rates do not spell out how many separate celebrations are covered by the buyout, so a couple planning welcome and farewell events should have those days and spaces named in the proposal.

A two-night stay is much tighter. With check-in from 12:30 p.m. and checkout at 10:30 a.m., there is less room for a substantial event on either side of the wedding day.

Villa Bibbiani: stronger indoor scale and more lodging

Villa Bibbiani is the closest conceptual comparison if the appeal is a private historic estate west of Florence with a serious indoor reception option. Its dedicated event space seats about 180, giving it considerably more indoor scale than Corbinaia, and its accommodation arrangement is larger.

Corbinaia is the more intimate option. Its lower capacity is a limitation for bigger weddings, but at 70-100 guests the connected rooms create a more compact flow between dinner and the late party.

Tenuta di Artimino: hotel infrastructure instead of a small private villa

Tenuta di Artimino is the better comparison when guest accommodation and full hospitality infrastructure matter more than the private-house feel. The estate operates a 101-unit diffuse hotel with restaurants, pool and wellness facilities around the historic Medici property.

That solves a different problem from Corbinaia's 16-bed villa. Artimino is more useful when you want a substantial share of the guest list sleeping within the same hospitality operation; Corbinaia is smaller and more private.

Villa Mangiacane: substantially more on-site accommodation

Villa Mangiacane near San Casciano in Val di Pesa combines two residential villas. Palazzo Machiavelli has ten rooms and suites, while Villa Mazzei has eighteen and sleeps up to 36 on its own. It is worth comparing when on-site accommodation matters more than Corbinaia's compact scale.

Corbinaia is easier to frame around an 80-100 person event, while Mangiacane offers a fuller residential estate experience for a larger house-party group.
