Miami does Halloween bigger than most cities. There are month-long horror bars, restaurants that turn into stage sets for one night, rooftop masquerades and two huge free street parties where everyone else's costumes are the main event.
Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31 this year, and a lot of the best plans start earlier in the week. If you want the decorations without peak-night lines and minimum spends, go Tuesday through Thursday. The guide is organized by neighborhood, so you can pick an area, book dinner and walk to the party after.
On any other night, our best Miami bars for people in their 30s and rooftop bars guide cover the same rooms, and for a big costumed crew our large-groups guide has the spaces that book.

Halloween Bars and Parties in Wynwood and Midtown
Wynwood lets you keep the whole night in one neighborhood. Eat at Mayami before 8, or go straight to R House for the drag show, then walk over to HalloWYN. Black Lagoon is a few minutes north in Midtown and works any night this week.

Black Lagoon at The Sylvester
3456 N Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33127, USA
The multi-city horror pop-up has taken over The Sylvester for October. It's turned the bar into a gothic, underwater-themed space with macabre decor and a seasonal list of cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks, including the Bone Temple and Abyssa's Obsession. It's the best pure Halloween bar in Miami, but it's a drinks stop, so eat somewhere else in Midtown first. Details: Midtown · Daily through October 31. Check Black Lagoon's Instagram for hours; reservations may not be available.

Mayami Wynwood
127 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL 33127, USA
Mayami runs three Halloween theme nights around its Mexican-Asian menu and mezcal cocktails: The Odyssey on Thursday, Vice City After Dark: Miami Vice on Friday and Thriller After Dark on Saturday. Expect DJs and live performances, with fire performers and flash mobs on opening night. Book an early dinner if you want to eat before the room gets loud. Details: Wynwood · October 29–31. Thursday is free with an à la carte dinner; cover for Friday and Saturday isn't posted. Open until 3 a.m. and 21+ after 11 p.m., with a physical passport or U.S. driver's license. Business-casual dress code.

R House of Villains
2727 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127, USA
R House goes villain-themed for Halloween, with Drag Race alum Mistress Isabelle Brooks headlining, a lineup of local queens and performers, and DJs ILL-SET and Cesar Romero running until 3 a.m. Come dressed as your favorite villain, because the costume contest pays $500. If you want a real show and not just a DJ, this is the pick. Details: Wynwood · Saturday, October 31, 8 p.m.–3 a.m. 21+. Tickets through SevenRooms: $15 early bird, $20 general admission, $30 at the door. Front-row VIP seats are $40.

HalloWYN Block Party
2250 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127, USA
Wynwood's free Halloween block party fills the outdoor marketplace with DJs, drink specials and a huge costumed crowd that gets rowdier as the night goes on. It's where you end up after dinner at Mayami or the show at R House. Details: Wynwood Marketplace · Saturday, October 31, 7 p.m.–3 a.m. Free entry. RSVP on Eventbrite for a shot at a free drink; those are limited.

Halloween Restaurants in Brickell and on the Miami River
Brickell is where the big-budget Halloween dinners are. Book Sexy Fish's early seating, then head up to Rosa Sky for the rooftop party. On the river, Kiki and Habibi are next door to each other, so you can eat at one and look in on the other.

Seia: One Night in Venice
830 Brickell Plaza, Miami, FL 33131, USA
Seia goes full Venetian masquerade: candlelight, rich fabrics, masks handed out at the door, live DJs and an electronic violinist, with the city 50-plus floors below. It's glamorous rather than scary, and it's the best date pick in the guide. Details: Brickell · Saturday, October 31, 8 p.m.–2 a.m. General admission is $125. A dining table is $200 per guest, with seatings from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Masquerade attire encouraged.

Sexy Fish: Scary Fish – Vampire Tide
1001 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33130, USA
The already over-the-top dining room becomes a vampire production, with costumed characters, immersive installations, performers and a late set from DJ Pablo Fierro. Book the earlier dinner if you actually want to eat. The 9:30 p.m. seating is more about the show and the crowd. Details: Brickell · Saturday, October 31. Dinner and late night are booked separately. Late-night seating starts at 9:30 p.m. with a $300-per-person deposit that goes toward food and drinks (tax and service extra), and it's 21+. Costumes encouraged.

Rosa Sky: Rosa Obscura
115 SW 8th St 22nd Floor, Miami, FL 33130, USA
Rosa Sky turns into a circus after dark for three nights, with DJs, cocktails and live entertainment over the skyline. Treat it as the after-dinner stop, not dinner. Details: Brickell · October 29–31, 4:30 p.m.–2 a.m., with DJs from 7 p.m. 21+. The free RSVP only covers bar access, so book a table if you want a guaranteed seat. Costumes encouraged.

Kiki on the River
450 NW N River Dr, Miami, FL 33128, USA
Kiki throws an '80s party for Halloween, with neon, retro TVs, vinyl and roller-skate nostalgia around its usual Greek menu. The riverfront crowd builds as the night goes on. It's the easiest costume theme in the guide: a windbreaker and big hair will do. Details: Miami River · Saturday, October 31. Book a regular dinner reservation; no package price is posted.

Habibi: World of Gold
452 NW N River Dr, Miami, FL 33128, USA
Habibi's gold dining room adds dancers, contortionists, gold henna artists and a costumed staff for Halloween. It's a sit-down Mediterranean dinner that slowly turns into a show, so go with a group that's up for a loud night. Details: Miami River · Saturday, October 31. 21+ after 10 p.m., and you'll need a physical government-issued ID. Book a regular dinner reservation; no package price is posted.

Elia on the River
1440 NW N River Dr Ste 195, Miami, FL 33125, USA
Elia keeps things romantic, with Venetian masks, dancers, a DJ, a singer and a violinist alongside its coastal Italian menu on the water. It's dressed up but you can still talk, which makes it a good first stop before somewhere louder. Details: Miami River · Saturday, October 31, 6–11:30 p.m. Tickets through Eventbrite. Masks and Venetian-style outfits encouraged.
Halloween in Coral Gables
Coral Gables is the easiest walkable Halloween night in Miami, and you don't need a party ticket for any of it. Have dinner at JohnMartin's around 6, work through a few Drink-or-Treat stops, then finish at Maíz y Agave. Everything is on or just off Miracle Mile.

The Halloween Bar at JohnMartin's
253 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, FL 33134, USA
JohnMartin's covers the whole Irish pub in oversized Halloween decorations and adds a seasonal cocktail list. It's still a real restaurant, though, so you can sit down to a proper dinner in the middle of it. It's the easiest pick for a mixed group, and it's one of the Drink-or-Treat stops on Saturday. Details: Coral Gables · Running through Halloween. 21+. The weekday Lucky Hour runs 4–7 p.m. Book dinner on OpenTable.

Drink-or-Treat (Downtown Coral Gables)
Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, FL 33134, USA
Coral Gables' self-guided Halloween crawl runs on a punch card you pick up at your first stop, while 28 downtown bars and restaurants run seasonal drink specials. Buy drinks at three participating spots and you can claim a limited-edition souvenir glass at select locations while they last. Details: Downtown Coral Gables · Saturday, October 31, 6–10 p.m. Free to join with an Eventbrite RSVP; you pay for your own drinks. Participants and specials can change, so check the city's event map before you go.

Maíz y Agave: Día de Muertos
375 Miracle Mile, Miami, FL 33134, USA
Come here for Día de Muertos, not a costume party. Maíz y Agave marks the holiday over three days with mariachi, traditional music and dance, Catrina and Catrín makeup, and a special Día de Muertos menu. Details: Coral Gables · October 30–November 1, during restaurant hours. Reservations recommended. Call (305) 723-9898 for the entertainment schedule.
Halloween in Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove gives you two different Halloweens in one day: brunch and a dog costume contest at Glass & Vine, then Fangtasia at Regatta Grove on the water once it's dark. Magie's Grove bar is the low-key wine option in between, and its Little River bar runs the same four nights.

Glass & Vine: Howl-O-Ween Costume Brunch
2820 McFarlane Rd, Miami, FL 33133, USA
This is the daytime pick, and the one to bring your dog to. Glass & Vine runs a Halloween brunch in Peacock Park with bottomless bubbles and a DJ, plus a costume contest with prizes for best costume, best dog-and-human duo and most creative. Details: Coconut Grove · Saturday, October 31, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Winners get a $100 gift card. Book brunch through SevenRooms or call (305) 200-5268.

Regatta Grove: Halloween Fangtasia
3415 Pan American Dr, Miami, FL 33133, USA
Regatta is an open-air bayfront spot with several food counters and bars, so a big group with different tastes can graze and wander instead of sitting at one table all night. Fangtasia adds Halloween drinks and decor for two nights. On Sunday it's back for Día de Muertos with a shot-and-beer deal. Details: Coconut Grove · October 30–31. Free RSVP, and tables can be reserved. 21+ after sundown. On Sunday, November 1, from noon to midnight, any tequila or mezcal shot comes with a free Modelo or Corona.

Magie Wine Bar (Coconut Grove)
3540 Main Hwy, Miami, FL 33133, USA
Magie does Halloween as a four-night wine-bar party rather than a nightclub one. It runs adult trick-or-treating, a singles night, Freaky Friday (come dressed as the person you'd swap lives with) and an all-night happy hour on Halloween itself. Bring a small group that wants wine and actual conversation. Details: Coconut Grove, plus a second bar in Little River · Wednesday, October 28: four glasses of wine with candy for $30. Thursday, October 29: singles night. Friday, October 30: Freaky Friday. Saturday, October 31: $35 bottomless wine all night and $100 for the best costume. Seating in Coconut Grove is first come, first served.
Halloween Parties and Restaurants in Miami Beach
Miami Beach splits two ways. Faena is the all-night splurge in Mid-Beach. South Beach is the flexible night: Lincoln Road for the costumes, Rooftop Cinema for a quieter date, and hotel parties at Delano, The Standard and the 1 Hotel rooftop (Watr is free with an RSVP; the others sell tickets).
After the parties, our late-night food guide has the kitchens open until 5 a.m.

Halloween at Faena Miami Beach
3201 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33140, USA
Faena turns the whole hotel into Halloween, but it's really several separate nights under one roof. There's an à la carte dinner with Halloween specials and a DJ at Pao, a pricier dinner at Los Fuegos, the Living Room bar, and Memento Mori, a late party in Faena Theater with aerial, contortion and dance performances from midnight. Each one is booked on its own, so a Los Fuegos dinner won't get you into the theater. Details: Mid-Beach · Saturday, October 31. Pao runs 6:30–11 p.m. with no minimum. Los Fuegos opens at 8:30 p.m. with a $375-per-person minimum indoors, or $200 per person at the drinks-only standing bar, plus tax and service. The Living Room has no minimum until 8 p.m., then a $350-per-person drink minimum for bar reservations. Memento Mori starts at 11 p.m. with tickets through Tock. The cheapest way in is the outdoor Tree of Life and Sunbar, with a DJ from 8 p.m. to midnight and no minimum.

Watr at the 1 Rooftop: Spirits Above the City
2341 Collins Ave Floor 18, Miami Beach, FL 33139, USA
Watr's 18th-floor rooftop takes on Japanese yokai spirits for the night, with immersive design, performances and DJs around a Japanese-inspired food and cocktail menu. If you actually want to eat, it's a better bet than the drinks-only rooftop parties. Details: South Beach · Saturday, October 31, 9 p.m.–2 a.m. Entry is free by RSVP for 1 Hotel guests, 1 Club members and residents. The hotel hasn't posted how everyone else gets in, so call ahead.

The Standard Spa: Halloween at Our House
40 Island Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139, USA
The Standard throws a costume party around its bayside garden and pool, with several DJs and more of a house-party feel than a club. Dinner isn't part of it, so eat first. Details: Belle Isle · Saturday, October 31, 8 p.m.–midnight (7 p.m. for hotel guests, members and cabana holders). Tickets from about $59 on Eventbrite. Costumes encouraged.

Delano: Queen of the Jungle
1685 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139, USA
Delano fills its ground floor with performers, music and interactive installations for a dressed-up hotel party. The ticket covers a four-hour open bar and passed bites, so it costs more than a cover charge, but it isn't dinner. Details: South Beach · Saturday, October 31, 8 p.m.–midnight. 21+. Tickets from $250. There's no valet, so take a rideshare. Costumes encouraged.

Lincoln Road Halloween Block Party
Lincoln Rd Mall, Miami Beach, FL 33139, USA
The pedestrian mall turns into the city's biggest costume parade. It starts with family activities in the afternoon, like candy stations, crafts and costumed characters, then becomes an adult block party with a live band, performers and DJs, plus drink specials along the strip. Eat early so you're not waiting for a table at peak hours. Details: South Beach · Saturday, October 31, 5 p.m.–1:30 a.m. Open to the public. Miami Beach street parking is $1 an hour through October 31.

Rooftop Cinema Club South Beach
1212 Lincoln Rd 6th Floor, Miami Beach, FL 33139, USA
A screening of John Carpenter's Halloween on the roof above Lincoln Road is the low-key date option. Take the 7:45 p.m. show and walk down into the block party after, or eat first and catch the 10:15. Details: South Beach · Saturday, October 31, 7:45 and 10:15 p.m. Adirondack seats from $22.75.
