These are the Houston bars and restaurants that go all out for Halloween in 2026: themed cocktail pop-ups, decorated dining rooms, Halloween brunches, movie dinners and the parties worth planning October 31 around. You can eat pizza beneath an extravagant collection of monsters, settle into a witchy cocktail parlor in the Heights, catch a Halloween movie over dinner, or dance all night in a room full of people who took their costumes seriously.

For dinner and decorations, start with Betelgeuse Betelgeuse. Black Lagoon at Nickel City and The Cursed Cauldron are the big cocktail takeovers, and Brennan's makes the case for celebrating over brunch. On Halloween night, Numbers is the dancing pick and Saint Arnold the easy all-ages one. Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, so visit the pop-ups before the final weekend if you can; October 30–31 will be packed.

Halloween Pop-Ups and Decorated Bars in Houston

These are the bars that change the whole room for October. Most run through Halloween, and a weeknight visit gives you space to take in the details.

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse (Washington)

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse (Washington)

2101 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007, USA

The Washington Avenue location goes biggest for October, with elaborate props, ghosts and decorated rooms around a cast-iron pizza and cocktail menu. That mix makes it the easiest call for a mixed group: the people who came for decorations get their night, and the people who came for dinner get a pizza. Details: Halloween cocktails through October. Order food at the bar; the kitchen runs until 11 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and midnight Friday–Saturday. Karaoke at 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, no cover. Weekend afternoons work well for families.

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse (Montrose)

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse (Montrose)

4500 Montrose Blvd, Houston, TX 77006, USA

The Montrose location runs the same cast-iron pizza and cocktails formula as Washington Avenue, with Halloween drinks through October. The bonus: Endless Bummer is down the hallway when you want a darker second stop. Details: Halloween cocktails through October. Order food at the bar. Pair it with Endless Bummer Friday–Sunday (21+).

Black Lagoon at Nickel City

Black Lagoon at Nickel City

2910 McKinney St Suite 500, Houston, TX 77003, USA

Black Lagoon turns Nickel City into a dark, prop-heavy drinking den, with coffins, gravestones and a witch's-apothecary feel built around the cocktail list. If your friends specifically want a horror bar, nothing in Houston commits harder. Delray Cafe handles the food, so you can make a full night of it. Details: October 12–31, noon–2 a.m. daily. The Houston location page has the food menu.

The Cursed Cauldron at Incanto

The Cursed Cauldron at Incanto

1426 Yale St, Houston, TX 77008, USA

Potions, candlelight and a little theater: the Cauldron is built for a date or a small group that wants to sit down. Its two rooms feel very different, from the dark indoor Nightshade Parlor to the open-air Cauldron Conservatory, styled as an overgrown enchanted garden, so pick one when you book. Cocktails, spirit-free drinks and bar bites cover a regular visit. Details: October 2–November 1, Tuesday–Sunday from 4 p.m.; closed Mondays. No cover for regular service; tables held 90 minutes, with a $10-per-person no-show charge. 21+, though under-21 guests can come with a parent before 7 p.m. Bewitched Burlesque on October 28 (7:30 or 10 p.m.) is 21+, tickets from $35 with a welcome punch.

Frankenstein's Mad Scientist Cocktail Lab at Puttery

Frankenstein's Mad Scientist Cocktail Lab at Puttery

1818 Washington Ave Ste 180, Houston, TX 77007, USA

Puttery's first floor becomes a laboratory, with cocktails served as experiments and a monster on hand for photos. It gives a double date or a group of friends something to actually do for 90 minutes, and Betelgeuse is a short walk up Washington afterward. Details: September 24–October 31, Wednesday–Sunday, 6–11 p.m. Timed admission from $20.35 with fees covers 90 minutes and one cocktail or zero-proof drink. 21+. Food, more drinks and mini golf are extra. Arrive 15 minutes early; busy sessions can mean standing room.

HiFi at The Finn: Spookeasy

HiFi at The Finn: Spookeasy

712 Main St, Houston, TX 77002, USA

HiFi does Halloween through mood rather than props: vintage horror, a listening-lounge setting and cocktails to match. Come dressed up and settle in. Nyam Nyam Korean BBQ runs the bar menu, so dinner can happen right here. Details: The Spookeasy runs through October, Wednesday–Saturday (from 6 p.m. on Saturdays). Spookeasy Burlesque is October 24 and 31, 9–10 p.m., with separate show tickets; a regular lounge visit doesn't include the show.

Jethro's Cocktail Lounge: House of Spirits

Jethro's Cocktail Lounge: House of Spirits

95 Tuam St Ste 102, Houston, TX 77006, USA

House of Spirits gives you a reason to go out midweek: scary movies and martini specials on Wednesdays, tarot on Thursdays, then DJs and costumes toward the weekend. The décor and drinks change for the season, and the kitchen adds a seasonal smashburger taco. Details: The takeover runs through October, with a pre-party October 30 and the Halloween party October 31. The venue's schedule lists each night's activity.

Trash Panda Drinking Club: Trek

Trash Panda Drinking Club: Trek

515 Patton St, Houston, TX 77009, USA

Trash Panda's Shrek-inspired Trek takeover plays Halloween for laughs, with themed décor, drinks and staff in costume. Bring the group that would rather giggle at the theme than sit in a sinister room. Burgers, wings and quesabirria tacos are served until 2 a.m., the latest food of any themed pick here. Details: The takeover runs through October. Open noon–2 a.m. daily, kitchen until 2 a.m.

Halloween Dinners, Brunches and Family Events in Houston

For when the meal matters as much as the theme. These run from movie dinners and a family barbecue night to a Creole brunch, a $240 wine dinner and a performed murder mystery, and most have a specific date worth booking around.

HalloweenTown at Heights & Co.

HalloweenTown at Heights & Co.

1343 Yale St, Houston, TX 77008, USA

Heights & Co. pairs a familiar Halloween movie with its full dinner and drinks menu, which makes for a relaxed, conversation-friendly date if a costume party sounds like too much. You get a proper meal and stay for the film instead of rushing off. The Cursed Cauldron is a short walk up Yale for a nightcap. Details: HalloweenTown runs through October with a different film by date; pick the showing, then book the HalloweenTown experience on Resy. Closed Mondays.

HalloweenTown at Lazy Lane

HalloweenTown at Lazy Lane

923 Wakefield Dr, Houston, TX 77018, USA

Lazy Lane brings the movie-and-dinner idea to Garden Oaks, and its Halloween Kids Movie Night makes it one of the best family picks in Houston this month. Parents get a real restaurant evening, and kids get a big screen instead of waiting on the next course. Without the kids, the regular HalloweenTown showings make an easygoing date. Details: HalloweenTown and Kids Movie Night both run through October 31. Book the experience on OpenTable, choosing the date and film first.

Popfancy Dessert Bar: Midnight Slice

Popfancy Dessert Bar: Midnight Slice

9393 Bellaire Blvd a6, Houston, TX 77036, USA

For the season, Popfancy turns into a haunted retro arcade with a themed food-and-drink menu, and plenty of guests come in costume. Make it the sweets-and-photos part of an afternoon or early evening on Bellaire. Details: Midnight Slice began October 10. Walk-in admission is free; food and drinks are bought separately. Optional paid Fastpasses give priority entry at a set time but don't guarantee a table.

Brennan's of Houston: Witchy Brunch

Brennan's of Houston: Witchy Brunch

3300 Smith St, Houston, TX 77006, USA

Brennan's turns lunch into the occasion: dress up, sit down and order properly. The seasonal dish names are fun, but the Creole cooking gives the brunch its weight, with turtle soup, seafood gumbo, Gulf fish, and shrimp with black linguine. Details: October 24, 30 and 31, 11 a.m.–2 p.m. A $45 two-course option alongside à la carte dishes; cocktails extra. Call 713-522-9711 and ask for Witchy Brunch on your date.

Zanti Cucina Italiana River Oaks

Zanti Cucina Italiana River Oaks

1958 W Gray St Ste 101, Houston, TX 77019, USA

Zanti gives you two ways to do Halloween day. Brunch brings Italian food, seasonal cocktails, decorations and live music. The evening goes bigger, with a DJ, roaming costumed characters, a Halloween cocktail cart and a special menu, and it's the right room for coordinated group costumes. Details: Saturday, October 31. Brunch 11 a.m.–4 p.m.; the party follows that night. Each has its own booking link on the happenings page; food and drinks ordered as usual.

Feges BBQ Spring Branch: Spooktacular

Feges BBQ Spring Branch: Spooktacular

8217 Long Point Rd, Houston, TX 77055, USA

Feges has one of the most complete family plans in the city: barbecue, burgers and wings for dinner, plus a haunted-house area, an inflatable slide, a costume contest and candy. It wraps up by 8, which keeps it manageable on a school night. Details: Wednesday, October 28, 5–8 p.m., at the Spring Branch location only. One free kids meal per child 12 and under; half-price wine carafes for adults. Come in costume.

Brasserie 19: Creepy Cabaret

Brasserie 19: Creepy Cabaret

1962 W Gray St, Houston, TX 77019, USA

Brasserie 19's annual Halloween party starts as a polished French dinner with wine and seasonal cocktails, then picks up once the DJ and costume contest take over the room. If your group wants to stay for the whole arc, book the extended Bar/Gallery seating. Details: Saturday, October 24, from 7 p.m. Bar/Gallery tables are held for up to four hours with a $100-per-person food-and-drink minimum and one check per table. Regular dining-room and patio tables keep normal turn times.

Vic & Anthony's: Murder Mystery Wine Dinner

Vic & Anthony's: Murder Mystery Wine Dinner

1510 Texas Ave, Houston, TX 77002, USA

Despite the name, the mystery here is in the glass, with different tables getting different wines across five courses. The menu runs from snapper ceviche and pear salad to squid-ink pasta, charcoal-dusted steak and a white-chocolate dome. For actors and clues, book Murder at the Marquis instead. Details: Friday, October 30, 6 p.m.; 21+. $240 per person plus tax, gratuity and fees included. Buy the dinner ticket.

Murder at the Marquis at Walker Street Kitchen

Murder at the Marquis at Walker Street Kitchen

1777 Walker St, Houston, TX 77010, USA

Murder at the Marquis pairs dinner with an Old Hollywood mystery performed by The Murder Mystery Company. Book it if solving a case is the point of the night. Details: Friday, October 30, 6:30–9 p.m., at Walker Street Kitchen in the Marriott Marquis. Ticketed.

Houston Halloween Parties on October 31

Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, so the parties run late. They're listed in the order the night unfolds, from Saint Arnold's late-afternoon beer garden to the 10 p.m. doors at Meow Wolf and POST. Saint Arnold sells food and URBE builds its night around street-food stations; for the rest, eat first. POST's free Ghostbusters screening on Thursday, October 29, is on the same card.

Saint Arnold: Boos & Brews

Saint Arnold: Boos & Brews

2000 Lyons Ave, Houston, TX 77020, USA

Saint Arnold's beer garden is the easiest Halloween to say yes to: free, all ages and early enough for kids. Expect live music, a vendor market and trunk-or-treat, plus costume contest categories for kids, pets, duos or groups, and an overall winner. Details: Saturday, October 31. Free admission, all ages. DJ from 5 p.m., bands from 6. Food and drinks sold separately. Meow Wolf's Cosmic Howl is a short walk down Lyons for the adults afterward.

Dirt Bar

Dirt Bar

1209 Caroline St, Houston, TX 77002, USA

Dirt Bar keeps Halloween simple: loud rock and roll, a room full of costumes and no cover. It suits a group that wants a flexible plan instead of a ticketed one. Details: October 31, 6 p.m.–2 a.m.; 21+; free entry. Eat beforehand.

URBE: Día de los Muertos

URBE: Día de los Muertos

1101 Uptown Park Blvd Ste 12, Houston, TX 77056, USA

Día de los Muertos is a celebration of remembrance, distinct from Halloween, and URBE puts the ofrenda and the honoring of loved ones at the center of its evening. Around it come mariachi, baile folklórico, a DJ and Mexican street-food stations, with dishes like carnitas and suadero tacos, pozole verde and ceviche. Details: October 31, 7–11 p.m. Ages 21+ $85 ($75 early bird while available), including four cocktails. Ages 13–20 $45 at the door; children 12 and under $35. Tax and gratuity extra.

Numbers

Numbers

300 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77006, USA

When dancing is the plan, go to Numbers. The Halloween party opens early, DJ Wes Wallace is on, and the costume contest carries more than $1,000 in cash and prizes, so dress like you mean it. Make it the main event of the night rather than one stop on a crawl. Details: October 31, 8:30 p.m.–2 a.m. Arrive near opening. Check with Numbers directly for the Halloween cover and age policy.

Meow Wolf: The Cosmic Howl

Meow Wolf: The Cosmic Howl

2103 Lyons Ave Bldg 2, Houston, TX 77020, USA

The Cosmic Howl is the big-production late night: DJs, burlesque, mystical encounters and themed cocktails at Cowboix Hevvven, all inside Meow Wolf's surreal setting. Costumes look right at home here. Details: October 31, doors at 10 p.m.; 21+ with ID. You need the dedicated Cosmic Howl ticket, not a regular daytime one. No included meal or open bar, so eat first.

POST Houston: Ghostbusters Night & Apocalypse Party

POST Houston: Ghostbusters Night & Apocalypse Party

401 Franklin St, Houston, TX 77201, USA

POST has two Halloween nights. The free, all-ages Ghostbusters screening is indoors on Market Level Two, with food to buy in the market. The late Apocalypse party is a separate 18+ ticket. Details: Ghostbusters movie night Thursday, October 29, 8–10 p.m., free RSVP. POST Apocalypse Saturday, October 31, 10 p.m.–2 a.m., 18+, GA from $30 and VIP from $55, drinks extra; costume contest entrants check in by 11 p.m.

Houston Bars With Spooky Character All Year

No pop-up required. These three have the atmosphere year-round, so they still work after the October decorations come down. Endless Bummer and Betelgeuse move straight on to Christmas; they're both in our Houston Christmas bars guide.

Endless Bummer

Endless Bummer

4500 Montrose Blvd # B, Houston, TX 77006, USA

Endless Bummer feels like a tropical cave dreamed up by someone with a goth record collection. Murals, strange objects and shifting light make the small room its own world, and the cocktails give you a reason to linger. This month's Haunted Luau menu adds the $16 Tiki Chainsaw Massacre and the $15 Blood Moon Sacrifice. No food inside, but Betelgeuse Montrose is down the hallway. Details: 21+; walk-ins only. Friday–Saturday 6 p.m.–midnight, Sunday 4–10 p.m. Groups of six or more should contact the bar ahead of time.

La Carafe

La Carafe

813 Congress St, Houston, TX 77002, USA

La Carafe earns its spot through the room itself: an intimate old tavern by candlelight, where a glass of wine and a long conversation feel exactly right. Its haunted reputation is part of local lore and part of the fun. Details: Beer and wine only; eat elsewhere first. Notsuoh is nearby when you want the night to get stranger.

Notsuoh

Notsuoh

314 Main St, Houston, TX 77002, USA

Notsuoh is for nights that take an unexpected turn. Art, performances, live music and odd little spaces give it plenty of October personality without a seasonal makeover, and the upstairs Behind the Masks exhibition runs through October 31. Details: 21+ with valid ID. Thursday, October 29, 7–11:59 p.m., Legiterally brings local bands and a costume contest. The calendar shows what's on each night.

Easy Ways to Plan a Halloween Night in Houston

A Montrose dinner-and-cocktails date. Pizza at Betelgeuse Montrose, then follow the hallway to Endless Bummer. It's the simplest pairing in the guide: a real meal, an intimate bar afterward and no second trip. Go Friday–Sunday, when Endless Bummer is open, and note that it's 21+.

Washington Avenue with friends. Book a 90-minute session at Frankenstein's lab at Puttery, then walk up Washington to Betelgeuse for pizza. On a Friday or Saturday, time it so you arrive for 9 p.m. karaoke.

A witchy evening in the Heights. Reserve an early movie dinner at Heights & Co., then a later table at The Cursed Cauldron on the same stretch of Yale. Leave room between bookings, since the Cauldron's 90 minutes start at the time you chose.

A downtown night with character. Eat at HiFi, where Nyam Nyam Korean BBQ runs the bar menu, then head to La Carafe for a candlelit glass of wine and finish at Notsuoh. On October 24 or 31, book HiFi's burlesque if you want a show.

Halloween night on Lyons Avenue. Start at Saint Arnold's Boos & Brews when the music kicks off at 5 p.m. and have dinner there. When doors open at 10, walk down Lyons to Meow Wolf's Cosmic Howl. Saint Arnold is all ages; the Cosmic Howl is 21+.

A family evening with dinner included. For a fixed date, pick Feges on October 28 or Saint Arnold on October 31. For more flexibility, book a Kids Movie Night at Lazy Lane. Popfancy is worth its own afternoon on Bellaire Boulevard rather than a cross-city add-on.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best Halloween restaurants in Houston?
Betelgeuse Betelgeuse is the most versatile, with decorations, a full meal and cocktails in one place. Brennan's is the brunch pick, Lazy Lane works best for a family dinner, and Brasserie 19 or Zanti suit a group that wants dinner to turn into a party.
Which Houston Halloween pop-ups need tickets?
Frankenstein's at Puttery needs timed admission. Burlesque at The Cursed Cauldron and HiFi is ticketed separately, but regular Cauldron service has no cover (reservations recommended). Popfancy's Fastpass is optional; walk-in entry is free. Dinner events and late-night parties have their own tickets, separate from regular service.
Where can we go with kids or anyone under 21?
Start with Lazy Lane's Kids Movie Night, the Feges Spooktacular, Saint Arnold's Boos & Brews or the all-ages Ghostbusters night at POST. Betelgeuse on Washington welcomes families on weekend afternoons, and The Cursed Cauldron allows under-21 guests with a parent before 7 p.m. Frankenstein's, Endless Bummer, Dirt Bar, Notsuoh and the Cosmic Howl are 21+.
Are there good options if we're not drinking?
Yes. A movie dinner at Heights & Co. or Lazy Lane, Popfancy's themed café and the Feges family night all work without alcohol. The Cursed Cauldron pours spirit-free cocktails, and Frankenstein's offers a zero-proof welcome drink, though entry is still 21+.
Where can we get food late?
Trash Panda serves food until 2 a.m., the latest of any themed pick here. Betelgeuse Washington's kitchen runs until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. At La Carafe, Endless Bummer, Dirt Bar and Numbers, eat beforehand.
Which Houston neighborhoods are best for a Halloween night out?
The Heights puts a movie dinner at Heights & Co. and The Cursed Cauldron on the same stretch of Yale. Downtown works on foot, with HiFi, La Carafe, Notsuoh and Dirt Bar close together. Montrose has Betelgeuse, Endless Bummer and Numbers, Washington Avenue pairs Frankenstein's with Betelgeuse, and on Halloween night Lyons Avenue has Saint Arnold and the Cosmic Howl a short walk apart.
Do we need costumes?
Not everywhere, but they make the most sense where there's a contest or a costumed crowd: Numbers, Saint Arnold, Brasserie 19's Creepy Cabaret, Feges, Notsuoh's October 29 night and Zanti's Halloween party. The Cursed Cauldron welcomes costumes but has no costume requirement for regular service. For a restaurant party, wear something you can comfortably eat dinner in.
Is anything still open after October 31?
The Cursed Cauldron runs through Sunday, November 1. Endless Bummer, La Carafe and Notsuoh stay good bets year-round, though their seasonal menus and exhibitions change.
