Best Halloween Bars & Restaurants in Boston (2026)
Halloween pop-ups, spooky dinners and costume parties for 2026, plus three nearby picks in Cambridge and Malden.

Run a business in this guide, or want yours added? Get in touch. Or get featured.
Boston does Halloween a few different ways: an underground tiki bar taken over by aliens, dinner on Beacon Hill before the trick-or-treaters come out, a witchy cocktail bar down a Back Bay alley, or a costume party that runs past midnight. Pick the kind of night you want first, then book around it.
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so October 31 will be the busiest night of the season. If you want a pop-up table or a dinner reservation that night, book now rather than next week.
This guide covers 18 places: 15 in Boston, two in Cambridge and one in Malden. They're grouped into Halloween pop-ups, dinners and food experiences, year-round bars with the right mood, and one-night parties and events. Start with Scare Leave for the full pop-up treatment, 75 Chestnut for dinner on Beacon Hill, or Hecate for witchy cocktails.

Halloween Pop-Up Bars in Boston and Cambridge
These five places transform for October, so the room itself is the reason to go. All five run through Halloween night.

Scare Leave at Shore Leave
11 William E Mullins Way, Boston, MA 02118, USA
Shore Leave's basement tiki bar becomes Scare Leave every October, and this year's theme is an alien invasion. Most Halloween pop-ups are a drinks stop. This one's a full dinner, because the kitchen is currently home to Phaeng & Phiu, chef Veo Robert's Lao residency: order the chicken dumplings ($14), crispy rice ($16) or seafood drunken noodles ($32), and add the grilled Lao sausage. Details: Tuesday–Saturday from 5 p.m. The kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m.; the bar runs until midnight Tuesday–Wednesday and 1 a.m. Thursday–Saturday. Reserve for dinner, or walk in for drinks at the bar. Under-21s are welcome at tables with their party.

Loyall Haunting Room
510 Atlantic Ave, Boston, MA 02210, USA
Every October the InterContinental's speakeasy, Loyall Counting Room, goes dark as the Loyall Haunting Room, with a Halloween cocktail list and themed bites. It's an intimate room, so treat it as a sit-down cocktail date rather than one stop on a crawl. There's no full dinner here: eat first, then come for a round or two. Details: Wednesday–Thursday 6 p.m.–midnight, Friday–Saturday 6 p.m.–1 a.m. Reserve Loyall Counting Room on Resy.

Boo-Song Road at Wusong Road
112 Mt Auburn St, Cambridge, MA 02138, USA
Wusong Road decorates for the whole month as Boo-Song Road, adding Halloween drinks and bites to its Chinese American menu and tropical cocktails. If you want the dinner and the décor to matter equally, this is the one to book. Bring a group and share crab rangoons ($15), the scallion-pancake quesadilla ($13), bao and sesame dan dan ragu ($22). Details: October 1–31. Reservations hold your table for 90 minutes; the ground-floor bar and some seating are first come, first served. Lunch runs Thursday–Sunday. It's a short walk from the Red Line's Harvard stop.

The Mad Monarch
238 Main St, Cambridge, MA 02142, USA
Monarch, the bar beneath Alice in Kendall Square, turns into a mad-scientist lab for October, with Halloween cocktails and limited-edition desserts. Have dinner upstairs at Alice, then head down for drinks and dessert, or skip dinner and stay downstairs for small plates. The zero-proof list means it works just as well if one of you isn't drinking. Details: October 1–31, Wednesday–Saturday from 6 p.m. Book the Mad Monarch experience on OpenTable; walk-ins depend on space. Take the Red Line to Kendall/MIT.

Mystical Station at Mystic Station
139 Pleasant St, Malden, MA 02148, USA
Mystic Station runs its Mystical Station Halloween celebration all October, with a seasonal drinks list and fall menu at pub prices. Halloween and fall cocktails run $12–$15, including the $13 Gravedigger with hot cider and rum, and there are five seasonal mocktails at $11. For dinner, there's pumpkin-and-butternut ravioli ($19) and a Ghoul & Gourd Grain Bowl ($20). Details: Wednesday–Sunday from 11:30 a.m., closed Monday–Tuesday. Walk in. The kitchen closes at 10 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday, 11 p.m. Thursday–Saturday. It's a short walk from the Orange Line's Malden Center stop.
Halloween Dinners and Food Experiences in Boston
Four ways to make a meal the center of Halloween, from a Beacon Hill dinner to a cooking class. Saturday tables will go first, so book these early.

75 Chestnut
75 Chestnut St, Boston, MA 02108, USA
75 Chestnut sits in the middle of Halloween on the Hill, Beacon Hill's trick-or-treating night, when the neighborhood's townhouses are at their most decorated. The restaurant runs Halloween specials alongside its fall menu: pumpkin sage fettuccine ($30.95), a pumpkin, apple and goat-cheese flatbread ($24.95), and cocktails like the Pear Witch Trials and Ghosted. There's a kids' menu, which makes it the easiest sit-down dinner for families heading out to trick-or-treat. Details: Dinner from 5 p.m. Reserve through OpenTable. Halloween on the Hill runs 4–9 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.

Cósmica: Día de los Muertos
40 Berkeley St, Boston, MA 02116, USA
On October 31, Cósmica throws a Día de los Muertos party: Mexican dinner from 5 p.m., DJs from 7 p.m. and costumes encouraged. It's the easiest way to get a real meal and a party at the same address. Book early if your group wants to eat before it gets loud, or later if you're there for the music. On the regular menu, margaritas start at $16 and three pork carnitas tacos are $23. Details: Saturday, October 31, 5 p.m.–midnight. Reserve dinner through Cósmica.

Rochambeau: So Fetch Halloween Soirée
900 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02115, USA
Rochambeau goes full Mean Girls for Halloween, with a DJ in the Street Bar, themed cocktails, a costume contest and a separate Plastics look-alike contest. Pink is encouraged, so nobody in your group needs to spend the week on a costume. Entry is free with an RSVP, and the best costume wins a $100 gift card. Want dinner at the brasserie first? Book it separately. Details: Saturday, October 31, from 8 p.m. Free Eventbrite RSVP; food and drinks extra.

Eataly: Hands-On Halloween Dinner
800 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02199, USA
Eataly's Halloween class puts you at the stove: squid-ink pasta and an espresso-martini tiramisù finished with a spiderweb, with antipasto and a wine pairing along the way. It suits a couple or a small group that would rather cook together than sit through a prix fixe, and it wraps at 7 p.m., which leaves time to walk a block up Boylston to So Fetch at Rochambeau. Details: Saturday, October 31, 5–7 p.m. Prepaid; listed from about $171 per person, one ticket per guest. Ages 8 and up, with a supervising adult for anyone under 15. Nonalcoholic drinks are available; alcohol is 21+.
Year-Round Boston Bars with a Halloween Mood
No pop-up required: these three look the part all year. Choose them when the setting matters more than a scheduled party.

Hecate
48 Gloucester St, Boston, MA 02115, USA
Hecate is a candlelit, cave-like cocktail bar named for the Greek goddess of witchcraft, down a flight of stairs beneath Krasi, with its entrance off Public Alley 443. The drinks lean on mythology and folklore, and the zero-proof list gets the same care. Expect snacks rather than dinner. With only about two dozen seats and no reservations, aim to arrive at the 5 p.m. opening, especially on Halloween weekend. Details: Tuesday–Saturday, 5 p.m.–1 a.m. Walk-ins only.

Lolita Back Bay
271 Dartmouth St, Boston, MA 02116, USA
Lolita's Back Bay dining room already looks like Halloween: dark rooms, skeletons, gothic details and a ceiling covered in skulls. You get the mood any night of the year without planning around an event. Come for tacos, guacamole and margaritas; the house Lolita margarita is $16 and the Diablo is $17, and there are several zero-proof drinks. Details: Year-round. Reservations are for full dinner. Saturday dinner runs 4 p.m.–midnight, with the bar open until 2 a.m.

The Last Hurrah at Omni Parker House
60 School St, Boston, MA 02108, USA
The Omni Parker House has some of Boston's most retold ghost stories, including ones about founder Harvey Parker himself. Its bar, The Last Hurrah, is all leather and mahogany, built for a whiskey or a martini. There's no Halloween program here. Come for the setting and the stories, ideally as a nightcap after an evening downtown. Details: Daily, 4 p.m.–midnight. Food until 10 p.m.
Halloween Parties and Events in Boston
One-night events with set times. Three happen before Halloween itself: Deck 12 and PKL on Saturday, October 24, and Moon Bar on Monday, October 26.

The Liberty: Sinners & Saints
215 Charles St, Boston, MA 02114, USA
For a full-on costume party, the Liberty hotel takes over its Lobby and Ballroom with two DJs, dancing, themed drinks and photo setups. General admission is $80 plus fees and covers both rooms; drinks are extra. Costumes are expected, the theme is optional, and toy or replica weapons aren't allowed. The hotel's CLINK Halloween dinner is sold out, so eat elsewhere first. Details: Saturday, October 31, 9 p.m.–1:45 a.m. 21+ with valid ID.

Bully Boy Distillers: Halloween 2026
44 Cedric St, Boston, MA 02119, USA
Bully Boy spreads its Halloween party across the distillery's bars, with a DJ, a one-night cocktail menu, pinball and Mei Mei Dumplings on site. You get good drinks and a room with some personality without the Liberty's price: the $15 advertised ticket includes a welcome shot, and cocktails and dumplings are pay as you go. Newmarket is a little out of the way, so plan your ride home. Details: Saturday, October 31, 7–11 p.m. Buy tickets in advance and check checkout for fees. 21+.

Sam Adams Downtown Boston Taproom
60 State St, Boston, MA 02109, USA
If your group's ideal Halloween drink is a pint, the downtown taproom's party has live music, dancing and a costume contest where the crowd picks three winners. Order the Extra Special Spooky, an ESB-style ale brewed with candy corn. This is the downtown taproom, not the brewery in Jamaica Plain. Details: Saturday, October 31, 7–11 p.m. Check the event listing for entry details.

Deck 12: Haunted Spirits
65 Seaport Blvd #12, Boston, MA 02210, USA
Haunted Spirits is a short, early Halloween drinks event on Deck 12's rooftop, with seasonal sips and giveaways. It fits neatly before dinner on the Saturday before Halloween, and Deck 12 also has Halloween drink specials on October 31 if you miss it. Details: Saturday, October 24, 6–8 p.m. RSVP for the event; 21+. Indoor and outdoor seating; dinner is booked separately.

Moon Bar: Halloween Pop-Up
129 Columbus Ave First Floor, Boston, MA 02116, USA
For one night, Moon Bar's Jake Smith teams up with Shore Leave's bartenders and Atomic Black on a Halloween cocktail menu. It starts at 6:30 p.m., runs late, and costumes are encouraged. It's the Monday of Halloween week, which makes it the low-key way to get started. Details: Monday, October 26, from 6:30 p.m. 21+. This is Moon Bar on the first floor, not the Mooncusser tasting menu upstairs.

PKL: Halloween Family Event
64 C St, South Boston, MA 02127, USA
PKL is South Boston's indoor pickleball club and bar, with Pig Beach BBQ in the same space. On Saturday, October 24, it hosts a free Halloween afternoon for families. Bring the kids in costume and make lunch of it at Pig Beach; food and drinks are extra. Details: Saturday, October 24, 1–4 p.m. Free RSVP for adults and children.
Halloween on the Hill
Beacon Hill's trick-or-treating tradition runs on Saturday, October 31, from 4 to 9 p.m. The Beacon Hill Civic Association closes several streets to cars so families can walk freely past some of the most elaborately decorated townhouses in the city.
Book dinner first, then leave time to walk. 75 Chestnut is right in the middle of it, and the Liberty sits at the bottom of the hill. It's a residential neighborhood, so stay on the sidewalks and keep doorways clear.
Getting Around on Halloween Weekend
The Green Line has service changes over Halloween weekend, so check live MBTA alerts before you head out. For the picks outside Boston, the Red Line runs to Harvard (Boo-Song Road) and Kendall/MIT (Mad Monarch), and Mystical Station is a short walk from the Orange Line's Malden Center stop.
Expect rideshares to be busy late on the 31st, especially if you're heading home from Bully Boy in Newmarket.
Six Ways to Plan Halloween Night in Boston
Beacon Hill: dinner, trick-or-treat streets, then a party. Book an early dinner at 75 Chestnut, walk Halloween on the Hill (4–9 p.m.), then head down Charles Street to the Liberty's Sinners & Saints party from 9 p.m. The party needs its own ticket.
Back Bay: cook, then dance. Take Eataly's Halloween class from 5 to 7 p.m., then walk a block up Boylston to So Fetch at Rochambeau, which starts at 8. RSVP for the party separately.
Back Bay: witchy drinks, gothic dinner. Get to Hecate for its 5 p.m. opening, then move on to dinner at Lolita. Reserve Lolita; Hecate is walk-in only.
South End: dinner into a party. Cósmica serves dinner from 5 p.m. and brings in DJs at 7, so you can stay put all night. Or eat Lao food at Scare Leave and settle in with the alien-invasion cocktails.
Downtown: pints, then a nightcap. Start at the Sam Adams downtown taproom party (7–11 p.m.), then finish at the Loyall Haunting Room, which stays open until 1 a.m. on Saturday. Reserve Loyall ahead.
Cambridge: pick your square. Book Boo-Song Road in Harvard Square for a decorated group dinner, or have dinner at Alice in Kendall Square and finish downstairs at the Mad Monarch.
