Los Angeles doesn't have one Halloween scene. It has packed West Hollywood streets, theatrical cocktail labs in Hollywood, chef-driven parties in the Arts District, haunted tea services and a horror pizzeria in Long Beach. This guide covers the best Halloween bars, pop-ups and restaurants in Los Angeles for 2026, from easy walk-in drinks to ticketed nights you'll want to book now.
Every pick here changes its room, menu or whole format for Halloween, and each entry says whether you can walk in or need a ticket. We've included Long Beach because it has some of the region's best Halloween bars, all within walking distance downtown. Make it its own evening rather than a late detour from Hollywood.

Melrose Umbrella, Bar Next Door and Thunderbolt are regulars in our cozy bars and first-date bars guides the rest of the year.

Black Lagoon at Melrose Umbrella Co.
7465 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046, USA
Black Lagoon is the horror-cocktail pop-up that takes over bars across the country every October, and Melrose Umbrella Co. is its Los Angeles home. The whole bar gets the treatment, along with a dedicated menu of Halloween cocktails, so it works as a normal night out in a room that has fully committed to the season. Book ahead for Friday or Saturday; midweek is far easier. Details: 7465 Melrose Ave., Melrose · Through Nov. 1 · Walk-in, reserve for weekends

The Nightmare Bar at Barra 90
100 W 9th St, Los Angeles, CA 90015, USA
Downtown's Nightmare Bar is a 90-minute hosted party with a welcome drink, horror-movie games, prizes and plenty of photo backdrops, plus a themed menu for every round after the first. It's playful more than scary, and it suits a group of friends in costume who want the night organized for them. Pick a specific session in advance, since there's no dropping in. Details: Barra 90, 100 W. 9th St., Downtown LA · Thursday–Sunday sessions through Oct. 31 · Tickets required, 21+

Frankenstein's Mad Scientist Cocktail Lab
6423 Yucca St, Los Angeles, CA 90028, USA
Hollywood's mad-scientist lab turns your drink into a small experiment, with beakers, costumed scientists and photo-friendly sets across a 90-minute reservation. General admission starts around $22 and includes one signature cocktail or mocktail; tarot readings cost extra. It's also one of the few Halloween pop-ups that keeps going into November. Details: Remix Room, 6423 Yucca St., Hollywood · Through Nov. 7 · Tickets required, 21+

Beetle House Retro Halloween Party
2909 Supply Ave, Commerce, CA 90040, USA
Beetle House closed its Hollywood Boulevard restaurant but is back this fall as a month-long retro Halloween party in Commerce. Expect spooky street food, smoking cocktails, a DJ, sideshow acts, costumed performers, apple bobbing and trick-or-treating in 90-minute sessions. Tickets are listed as all ages, which makes it the rare theatrical Halloween night that works for a mixed-age group. Plan on paying for food and drinks on top of admission unless your ticket says otherwise. Details: The Compound by Dirt Dog X, 2909 Supply Ave., Commerce · Thursday–Sunday through Nov. 7 · $30 advance tickets, no walk-ins, all ages

Devil's Quarter at The Obscure
1356 Palmetto St, Los Angeles, CA 90013, USA
The Obscure's hidden Arts District distillery goes dark for Halloween: six pours (three house-distilled spirits and three cocktails) and three stories over two hours in a candlelit room. It's the most serious drinking experience in this guide and a full evening by itself, so eat first and skip the bar crawl afterward. Ask about zero-proof pours when you book. Only the Friday and Saturday sessions on Oct. 30 and 31 remain. Details: 1356 Palmetto St., Arts District · Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 31 · Tickets required, 21+, all-black attire welcome

Thundies at Thunderbolt
1263 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90026, USA
For four nights, Thunderbolt, one of the best cocktail bars in the city, dresses up as Thundies Bar & Grill, a send-up of the '90s chain restaurant. Expect precise riffs on Long Island iced teas and mudslides next to mozzarella sticks and a bloomin' onion. The joke lands because the bar underneath is so good. It runs Oct. 28–31 only, so get there early on the weekend. Details: 1263 W. Temple St., Historic Filipinotown · Oct. 28–31

Drink or Treat? at Bar Next Door
9159 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069, USA
This tiny Sunset Strip cocktail bar, set in the former office of Marilyn Monroe's talent agent, goes vintage-witchy for October with seasonal cocktails, themed game nights and hidden black cats to spot around the room. Try the Basic Witch, a vodka drink with matcha and pumpkin spice cold foam. No ticket needed, but the room is small, so come early with a small group. Details: 9159 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood · Through Oct. 31, opens 6 p.m. Mon–Thu and 5 p.m. Fri–Sun · Walk-in

The Haunting at The Ordinarie
210 The Promenade N, Long Beach, CA 90802, USA
The family behind The Ordinarie's Christmas Miracle pop-up decorates every corner of its downtown Long Beach tavern for The Haunting, with Halloween cocktails in collectible mugs and vintage oddities throughout. Lunch, dinner and late-night menus all stay on, so this is the easiest place in the guide to eat a proper meal inside a Halloween room. Children are welcome until 9 p.m., and there's a kids' menu. Details: 210 The Promenade N., Downtown Long Beach · Daily through Nov. 1, 11:30 a.m.–1 a.m. · Reservations 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m. only, walk-in after 4

Tremble Club at The Bamboo Club
3522 E Anaheim St, Long Beach, CA 90804, USA
The Bamboo Club, a family-owned tiki bar, turns into its spooky alter ego for the season, with a limited Halloween cocktail menu and themed décor layered over the tiki. Weekend brunch and Friday lunch run on the Tremble Club menu too, so it works by day. An 18% gratuity is added to every check during the pop-up. It sits a few miles east of downtown Long Beach, so make it a separate trip by car. Details: 3522 E. Anaheim St., Long Beach · Through Nov. 2 · Reservations advised

Black Lagoon at Midnight Oil
255 Long Beach Blvd Ste A, Long Beach, CA 90802, USA
Long Beach gets its own Black Lagoon at Midnight Oil, a smaller downtown bar where the horror cocktail program slots neatly into a walking night. It's the obvious middle stop between dinner at The Ordinarie and a nightcap at The 4th Horseman. Hours change through the week, so check the bar's Instagram before you head over. Details: 255 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach · Through Oct. 31 · Walk-in

Year-Round Spooky Bars in Los Angeles

Bar Sinister at Boardner's
1652 N Cherokee Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028, USA

Expect a fully decorated venue, DJs on both sides of Boardner's and free gift bags for the first 500 people through the door. Presale tickets are $20 plus a $2 fee, or $30 at the door. Black Rabbit Rose
1719 N Hudson Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028, USA
This hidden Hollywood theater and cocktail lounge from the Houston brothers runs The Magic Hour, a 55-minute show from a rotating trio of magicians, Thursday through Saturday. It isn't a Halloween production, but the ornate, shadowy room suits the season, and it makes an intimate date night away from the big crowds. Thursday shows are $40, upscale attire is encouraged, and guests must be 21+. Book the show first, then fit dinner around it. Details: 1719 N. Hudson Ave., Hollywood · Shows Oct. 29–31 and year-round · Tickets required, 21+

Scum & Villainy Cantina
6377 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028, USA

There's no cover and no reservations, which makes it a dependable fallback when timed experiences are sold out, though expect a line. It's all ages until 8 p.m. with a parent or guardian, then 21+. Details: 6377 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood · Year-round · Walk-in, no cover
West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2026
West Hollywood's Halloween Carnaval is a free street party that draws more than 100,000 people in costume. It runs Saturday, Oct. 31, 6–11 p.m. on Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard, with a DJ stage and food trucks at San Vicente Boulevard. You walk the boulevard with everyone else rather than watching floats from the curb.
- Drinks: No alcohol on the street. Bars along the route serve inside.
- Bags: Clear plastic bags only; no backpacks, totes or camera cases.
- Kids and pets: The city strongly discourages bringing either.
- Getting there: Don't drive. The free WeHo Halloween Ride runs 6 p.m.–3 a.m. along Santa Monica Boulevard between La Brea Avenue and Kings Road, and some vehicles connect to the Hollywood/Highland Metro station until midnight.
Have dinner or a drink first, arrive before the crowd peaks, and book no more than one place for afterward.
Plan Your Halloween Night by Neighborhood
West Hollywood: the biggest crowd. Start with an early drink at Bar Next Door, walk down to Carnaval, then finish at SUSHISAMBA's late party if you've booked it. Road closures make rideshares and spur-of-the-moment transfers slow, so keep the night on foot.
Hollywood: a show and a cocktail. Build the night around a timed booking at Frankenstein's or Black Rabbit Rose, then add a tarot-card cocktail at Written Hand. Bar Sinister is the late-night move if the dress code works for you.
Arts District and Downtown: a proper dinner. Book dinner at Manuela and stay for the courtyard party. Devil's Quarter is a full evening on its own, and The Dark Wedding is a ticketed show, so eat beforehand unless you've booked the dinner tier.
Downtown Long Beach: the best walkable crawl. Have dinner at The Ordinarie, walk to Midnight Oil for a Black Lagoon cocktail, and finish with pizza or a beer at The 4th Horseman. The Bamboo Club is worth a separate drive but isn't walkable from these stops.
