La Foce Wedding Guide (2027): Pricing, Capacity & Everything to Know

La Foce is a wedding venue to choose for the garden. Its formal hedges, cypress-framed ceremony setting and long views across the Val d’Orcia give the day a clear sense of place before any flowers or lighting arrive. The garden was created by Cecil Pinsent in collaboration with Iris Origo, and the wedding moves between distinct settings rather than staying in one reception room.

For 2027, the starting commitment is €48,000 for three nights in Villa Origo, sleeping 24, with the garden included for the wedding day. The wedding maximum is 140 guests. Four optional accommodation properties bring the named inventory to 61 people, including one teenager-designated place, for a combined three-night rental of €62,500. Catering and wedding production are separate. All rental prices are stated net to the owner, so they are not established as tax-inclusive totals.

The biggest booking question is not the outdoor maximum. It is the wet-weather plan: the Orangerie is the designated after-party space, but its seated dinner capacity is not confirmed, and marquees cannot be placed on the garden’s grassy areas. That needs resolving before the setting becomes a commitment.

Preferred guest count and total budgets are RoamRecs planning judgments. The 61-person inventory is spread across the villa and separate houses, not one building.

La Foce’s strongest argument is that very little needs to be invented visually. The lower garden already gives the ceremony its architecture; the lemon garden gives drinks their setting; the gravel beside the villa gives dinner its backdrop. We would spend on excellent food, comfortable seating, thoughtful lighting and smooth movement through the property before paying to cover its existing character with elaborate structures.

It also offers a sensible length of stay for a destination wedding. Three nights allow an arrival evening, the wedding and a slower day afterward without requiring the couple to finance an entire week. The €48,000 villa rental already includes the wedding-day garden, so that use should not be counted again as an assumed second wedding-location fee.

The optional accommodation is useful, but the distinction between “on the estate” and “right beside the wedding” matters here. Only 24 people stay in Villa Origo. Palazzolo, Montauto and the Belvederes are separate properties roughly a mile from the main villa. Booking them creates a larger house-party network, not a hotel where everyone walks downstairs to breakfast together. We would still arrange transport after the party.

Our preferred size is around 80–100 guests. It leaves some margin below 140, keeps a substantial portion of the group in the named houses and avoids making every layout decision around the maximum. It does not establish that 80 or 100 people fit indoors for dinner. The same rain-plan approval is needed at either size.

The main drawback is that the most attractive part of La Foce is also the most weather-dependent. You cannot assume a tent can simply go on an available lawn. Nor does an indoor after-party room prove that the whole wedding can move inside for the ceremony, drinks, dinner and dancing. We would be cautious about a 120–140-person wedding until those four stages have been drawn, priced and approved.

The weekend has limits, too. The gardens are not available for extra welcome or farewell events, pool parties are prohibited, and outdoor music stops at midnight. The courtyard and nearby Dopolavoro provide other ways to host the surrounding celebrations, but both require their own arrangements. This is not a freely programmable festival site or an unrestricted pool-party estate.

Finally, a smaller guest list does not remove the fixed cost. The €48,000 mandatory rental is the same starting point whether the wedding has 50 people or 100. At 50 guests, that is €960 per wedding guest before catering or production; at 100, it is €480. Those are cost-allocation comparisons, not accommodation rates.

Best suited to: couples who care deeply about a historic garden setting, want a three-night Tuscan stay, accept a venue-only model and are comfortable coordinating several guest houses and an indoor late-night transition.

Less well suited to: couples whose priority is a simple bundled package, everyone sleeping under one roof, a pool-party weekend, more than 140 guests or a guaranteed large indoor reception without further design work. 

The 2027 rental structure

Villa Origo is the only mandatory accommodation booking. Its €48,000 three-night price includes use of the garden for the wedding day. The other four properties are optional and are also offered on a three-night wedding-stay basis. These are stay totals, not nightly prices.

How accommodation choices change the venue bill

The complete optional-house addition is €14,500, providing 37 extra places. A couple can therefore keep the required booking at €48,000 rather than assuming the full €62,500 accommodation portfolio is compulsory.

Welcome dinners and farewell gatherings

The garden is reserved for the wedding day and cannot be used for a separate welcome dinner, farewell brunch or pool party. The villa’s inner courtyard costs €3,000 per additional event day, with food, drinks and setup charged separately. One approved courtyard day takes the villa-only rental to €51,000; two take it to €54,000. With all five properties, the corresponding totals are €65,500 and €68,500.

The €3,000 is a location fee, not a catered event price. It also does not establish a 140-person seated courtyard capacity or a covered alternative. Get the layout and the approved attendance for each gathering in writing. Pool parties remain prohibited.

The included core

The confirmed wedding-rental core is three nights in Villa Origo for 24 people plus the garden for the wedding day. The named optional houses add accommodation at the rates above. The venue is rented separately from the services needed to produce the wedding.

Villa Origo’s residential facilities include air conditioning, daily breakfast and cleaning. Palazzolo and Montauto also list breakfast; Montauto lists two hours of daily cleaning. Have these residential services carried into the wedding agreement, with the eligible guests and service hours stated. Do not extend them automatically to the Belvederes or to nonresident wedding guests.

A staffed wedding dinner is not included simply because breakfast or residential service is available. The main villa’s kitchen is reserved for staff, while residents have access to smaller kitchenettes. Catering access and kitchen use need a specific agreement.

Keep these outside the rental line

Budget separately for wedding catering, wine and bar service; planning and event coordination; flowers and décor; furniture, tableware and linen not supplied by the caterer; lighting, sound and power; photography and film; entertainment and music licensing; guest transport; celebrant and beauty services; and any approved weather protection. La Foce does not supply an all-inclusive price for those services.

The extra-event location fees, optional houses and additional nights are separate too. Cleaning after events, security, catering-kitchen charges, utilities, waste removal, supplier meals, tourist taxes and other operational items must be itemized where applicable. Their absence from a published tariff is not confirmation that they are free.

Deposits, payment dates and cancellation

The current wedding terms do not specify the booking deposit, balance dates, damage security, cancellation charges or postponement conditions. Those are booking-critical contract items. Request actual euro amounts and calendar dates, not just a verbal description of the deposit. A refundable damage deposit, if required, belongs in the cash-flow plan rather than automatically being treated as a spent wedding cost.

Dopolavoro as an alternative for the surrounding events

Dopolavoro is about 300 metres from the villa and is separately managed. Its private-event offering includes a garden, patio and indoor hall, making it worth pricing for a welcome dinner or farewell meal. Capacity, private hire, wet-weather seating, menu and closing time need a separate agreement. It is not part of the €48,000 rental and is not an automatically reserved rain backup for the wedding.

These are RoamRecs planning estimates, not La Foce packages or supplier quotes. They include a three-night weekend using all five accommodation properties, one wedding reception and welcome and farewell gatherings on two separately charged courtyard days. Both additional gatherings remain subject to approved layouts.

The model starts with €68,500 in published venue and accommodation charges: €62,500 for the five properties plus €6,000 for two courtyard event days. It includes professional suppliers, food and drinks for the three events, local transport and a modest resident-meal allowance.

Not included: any tax or mandatory fee added to the net venue charges; tax excluded from actual supplier quotations; a marquee or other unpriced weather build; off-estate guest rooms; flights and airport transfers; attire, rings, honeymoon and other personal spending. These are not guaranteed all-inclusive ceilings. A complete approved weather solution is a prerequisite, not something the contingency automatically buys.

The wedding food-and-drink allowance is €250–€400 per guest for aperitivo, dinner, dessert or cake, wine, a defined bar period and service. Welcome and farewell catering is €100–€180 per guest across both events combined. Confirm staffing hours, delivery, equipment and tax in every quote. These are budgeting assumptions, not menus offered by La Foce.

Accommodation scope. Keeping the same supplier allowances but taking only Villa Origo reduces the 100-person model by €14,500, to €145,850–€221,200. That is an arithmetic comparison, not a re-priced smaller residential program. It also leaves far more people needing separately funded accommodation.

Weather infrastructure. A quotation for an approved covered plan can change the budget materially. No generic tent allowance establishes that there is an authorized place to build it. Resolve siting, floors, access, installation time and the full cost before treating the working range as a funding target.

Event location and production. Replacing the two courtyard gatherings with restaurant events removes €6,000 of courtyard fees from this model, but introduces the restaurant’s private-hire or minimum-spend terms. Catering for those gatherings is already in the model, so replace that allowance with the restaurant quote rather than adding the same food twice.

Supplier scope. The entertainment allowance suits a DJ-led party with selected live elements, not an international headline band. The décor and production allowances do not contemplate a large bespoke scenic build. Caterer-provided tables or glassware should not be counted a second time in rentals. Similarly, ask whether a planner’s quoted fee includes assistants, travel and commissions.

The wedding maximum is 140 guests. That is the ceiling for the event, not a promise that every ceremony, dinner, stage or dance-floor arrangement fits, and not an indoor capacity. The garden’s lawns are protected from marquees and seated-dinner furniture; dinner is planned on the gravel under the ilex trees.

How the day can flow

A natural sequence is a symbolic ceremony in the lower garden, drinks in the lemon garden, dinner on the gravel by the villa and dancing in the Orangerie. The setting changes without needing an off-property transfer during the main event. Each move still needs an accessible route, enough lighting and somewhere for service staff to work.

For the ceremony, design around the garden’s existing fountain, hedges and statue rather than treating the lower garden as an empty rectangle. Seating on more than one side can give the ceremony a distinctive shape, but sightlines and the entrance route need attention. The specific grass restriction concerns marquees and seated-dinner furniture; do not turn it into a blanket assumption that every ceremony chair must sit on gravel.

For dinner, long-table layouts are well suited to the gravel and tree canopy. A photographed arrangement is useful for discussing the visual direction, but it does not establish the current approved guest count. Request a plan that includes catering aisles, bars, speakers, exits and any first-dance space, not just the number of chairs.

The lawn restriction also means that moving a table a little farther out is not automatically an available solution when a plan becomes crowded. We would design the practical footprint before finalizing the rentals order.

Do not book on the assumption that a 140-person outdoor wedding has an equivalent indoor backup. The Orangerie is confirmed for the after-party, but a current seated-dinner capacity and a complete wet-weather layout are still needed. The grounds are not a blank canvas for a marquee: the garden’s grassy areas cannot be used for one.

That does not establish that La Foce cannot accommodate a wet-weather wedding. It means the covered solution has to be designed for the actual guest list, rather than inferred from the word “Orangerie” or from photographs of an outdoor reception.

The four-stage test

Ceremony. Identify the room or approved covered area where every guest can sit, where the couple and celebrant stand, and how everyone reaches it. A drinks shelter is not automatically a seated ceremony space. Confirm accessibility and whether the room is already occupied by dinner furniture.

Aperitivo. Establish where the group gathers while dinner is ready. Using the same room for drinks and dinner may require a separate zone or a reset. The covered area needs to work for the full headcount, not only the residents staying in the villa.

Dinner. Obtain a scaled plan for the Orangerie or another expressly approved solution. It should show the contracted guest count, tables, chairs, serving aisles, exits, catering preparation, bars and any stage. Ask for photographs of that actual wet-weather setup at a comparable size, not another sunny garden dinner.

Dancing. Confirm whether the late-night layout can remain in place during dinner or must be installed afterward. If a reset is required, determine where guests wait, who performs the changeover and how long it takes. The last two hours of the event should not disappear into a furniture move.

A tent needs permission for a specific location

The prohibition on marquees on grass is clear. Permission for a structure on a different surface is not established. Before reserving one, agree the exact site, anchoring or ballast, flooring, drainage, wind limits, emergency exits, power and installation/removal windows. A courtyard is outdoors unless an approved structure actually covers it.

Trees and the wisteria tunnel are not a weatherproof dinner plan. Likewise, Dopolavoro’s indoor hall is only an alternative when its management has separately reserved it and confirmed the capacity and operating arrangement. Neither its proximity nor its existence creates a wedding-day fallback.

What we would require before paying a deposit

One signed all-weather plan covering all four stages, the price of any additional infrastructure, the forecast decision deadline, the person authorized to call the switch, and the cancellation cost of an unused weather reservation. It should also show covered or assisted movement between spaces and a safe loading point for departing guests.

At 80–100 guests we would still require that plan. At 120–140, we would treat it as the deciding document. A beautiful indoor room is not enough; the whole event must work inside or under approved cover.

Villa Origo: the core residential group

The main villa sleeps 24 in 12 bedrooms. Its detailed room arrangement comprises nine double bedrooms and three twin bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. Allocate these rooms first to the couple, immediate family and the people who benefit most from being close to preparations.

The villa extends over several levels. Room size or an attractive photograph should not substitute for confirming stairs, bathroom access and the route to the event spaces. Palazzolo has ground-floor room options for guests with limited mobility, but that does not establish step-free access to the wedding gardens.

The optional properties

• B&B Palazzolo: 14 people in seven double-occupancy rooms; some rooms have twin beds. A useful second group of bedrooms with breakfast arrangements.
• Montauto: 10 people across three suites. Useful for families or close groups sharing a suite; the suites accommodate 2, 3 and 5 according to their room descriptions
• Belvedere Piccolo: 4 adults + 1 teenager; two double bedrooms, one single, two bathrooms. Best allocated to a compatible family group rather than five unrelated adults
• Belvedere Grande: 8 people; two double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms, four bathrooms. Useful for a larger family or friend group; the house has internal changes of level

The two Belvederes are adjacent properties with their own outdoor areas and a shared pool. Ordinary holiday-stay terms should not be substituted for the three-night wedding arrangement above. The wedding booking needs to identify the houses and dates together.

What “61 staying at La Foce” actually means

The full inventory is 24 + 14 + 10 + 5 + 8 = 61, but for an all-adult room plan, work with 60 places unless the venue approves a different arrangement. The 61-person headline must not be sold as 61 unrestricted adult beds.

The additional houses are roughly a mile from Villa Origo. Confirm each address, route, pickup point and travel time rather than promising guests a short stroll home. A distributed estate stay is still a transport project, particularly at 2 a.m.

Paying for these houses may be part of the couple’s hospitality budget or may be offset by agreed guest contributions. A contribution changes who pays, not the gross rental cost. Keep both figures visible rather than making the venue appear cheaper by silently netting off guest payments.

We would usually put most off-estate guests in one Chianciano Terme hotel block, with a smaller boutique or spa option for guests who prefer it. This is an operating recommendation: fewer pickup points mean fewer late buses, fewer missed departures and a simpler end to the night.

Grand Hotel Admiral Palace, Chianciano Terme

A practical first enquiry for the main room block. The hotel has 111 rooms, parking, a restaurant and spa facilities, giving it the scale to concentrate a substantial group in one place. We would choose it for logistical simplicity rather than for the atmosphere of another historic villa. Allow roughly 10–20 minutes by road to La Foce as a planning estimate. Inventory is not a promise of availability or a negotiated group rate.

La Bandita Townhouse, Pienza

A 12-room hotel in Pienza’s historic centre, better suited to a small group wanting restaurants and village life around them. It offers a different experience from staying in a rural house. Agree a realistic vehicle-access and luggage plan with the hotel rather than assuming the wedding bus can stop at the front door. Allow roughly 25–35 minutes by road to La Foce, including some margin for the final pickup arrangement.

ADLER Spa Resort Thermae, Bagno Vignoni

A stronger option for guests making the wedding part of a longer spa holiday. Thermal facilities, dining and the countryside setting give them something to do between events without relying on the wedding program. Allow roughly 20–30 minutes by road to La Foce. Ask about room-block terms and how the booked meal plan works when guests dine at wedding events.

Use La Foce, Strada della Vittoria 61, Chianciano Terme as the arrival address, and send the exact entrance pin approved by the venue.

Choose the airport around the flight itinerary, not distance alone. For rail arrivals, Chiusi-Chianciano Terme is the useful station to investigate, followed by a prebooked driver. 

A venue-only wedding, with your selected suppliers

Food, drinks, flowers, lighting, photography, music and the other wedding services are arranged with selected external vendors. That is flexibility, not a promise that every supplier or technical setup is acceptable without approval. No compulsory caterer, exclusive lighting contractor, corkage tariff or minimum catering spend is established in the current wedding terms. Confirm those points before signing supplier contracts.

The catering proposal should specify the preparation kitchen, water and power access, refrigeration, delivery routes, clearing and waste arrangements. Agree how the caterer serves the gravel dinner area and where equipment can wait without obstructing guest routes. A domestic kitchen on the property is not automatic permission for a caterer to use it.

Ask for a joined-up food-and-drink quote covering the aperitivo, dinner, dessert, wine, bar hours, staffing, supplier meals and late-night service. Establish whether furniture, linen and tableware are included. Where separate caterer and bar teams are used, make one person responsible for ice, glass collection and the handover to the Orangerie.

Planning and property management are different jobs

A mandatory professional-planner requirement is not specified, but we would budget for an experienced planner and a working on-site team. La Foce’s rental manager, the couple’s planner and the suppliers need clearly separated responsibilities for access, approvals, service and the running order. With several houses and a midnight move, coordination is not a small finishing touch.

Midnight outdoors, 2 a.m. final finish

Outdoor music ends at midnight. The event ends at 2 a.m. After midnight, the party continues inside the Orangerie by the pool. This is not permission to keep music playing outside for two extra hours. Confirm the indoor sound limit, door/window rules, bar service, staffing and any applicable charge.

We would have the indoor bar and sound ready before the outdoor cutoff, rather than start carrying equipment at midnight. A planned move can feel like a new chapter of the evening; a technical shutdown followed by a long wait usually does not. Ask whether the full guest count can enter the Orangerie in the proposed party layout.

Symbolic ceremony at La Foce. The lower garden is the established setting. Plan the seating, entrance, sound and wet-weather alternative for the actual attendance. A symbolic ceremony allows the legal marriage to be completed separately.

Civil ceremony. The current venue arrangement directs civil rites to local town halls, not the estate. Contact the relevant municipal registry office before booking the legal ceremony. Chianciano Terme’s process identifies additional documentation for foreign nationals, so request a nationality-specific checklist, appointment dates, interpreter requirements and final fees rather than assuming a generic timetable applies to every couple.

Religious ceremony. An on-estate religious wedding is not established in the current wedding offer. Arrange any church ceremony with the relevant religious authority and check both the permissions and the transfer to La Foce. Do not advertise an authorized estate chapel ceremony without confirmation.

Pool parties are prohibited. The presence of several pools and an after-party room beside one does not create an exception. Ordinary resident swimming and organized celebrations are different activities; ask about guest access and supervision without assuming a pool event can be added.

Garden exclusivity needs a defined schedule. La Foce operates guided visits and closes the garden on selected private-event dates. The wedding agreement should state when public access stops, which areas are exclusive, and whether visitors or estate operations continue during the surrounding days. A three-night villa booking should not automatically be described as a three-day closure of the entire estate.

Accessibility must be checked route by route. The garden has levels, steps and gravel. Request a continuous route from drop-off to ceremony, cocktails, dinner, toilets and the Orangerie, plus an appropriate bedroom. A ground-floor bedroom does not solve an inaccessible garden route.

Production permissions need to be written down. Confirm candles, fireworks, sparklers, confetti, drones, structures, rigging to trees, power supply, generators and supplier load-in/out. The available wedding terms do not settle these items. Do not treat an effect seen at an older wedding as current permission.

Arrival and departure affect the weekend. Check the exact check-in and checkout times, preparation access, supplier collection and whether Monday breakfast or breakdown can continue after residents leave. Pets, extra beds and nonresident access to the houses also need explicit terms.

Our first dates to investigate would be late May, June or September, but only with a weather plan the couple would be happy to use. 

For regional context, the Siena 1991–2020 climate normals show the following pattern. Siena is a regional reference, not a weather station at La Foce, and these averages are not a forecast for the wedding.

July and August call for a deliberate heat plan: water on arrival, shade, a later ceremony and somewhere comfortable for older guests to retreat. September remains exposed to rain; October brings cooler conditions and a wetter regional pattern.

The wisteria is a reason to discuss spring photography, not a bloom guarantee. Ask for dated garden photographs from the same part of the season, and do not choose a date solely around a flowering image. From late autumn into early spring, we would start with an indoor-first event design rather than assume the summer layout will transfer unchanged.

A three-night stay can support a Friday-to-Monday weekend, but the dates, check-in times and additional gatherings need approval. The useful distinction is between accommodation being available for three nights and event spaces being freely available for three days. At La Foce, they are not the same thing.

• Friday: Arrivals and a relaxed welcome dinner. Courtyard hire at €3,000 for the day, or a separate Dopolavoro booking; food, drinks and setup extra
• Saturday: Garden ceremony, lemon-garden cocktails, gravel dinner, Orangerie party. Wedding garden included; suppliers separate; outdoor music stops at midnight and event at 2 a.m.
• Sunday: A farewell meal and unstructured time for guests. Another courtyard event day is €3,000, or book a restaurant. No garden farewell event or pool party
• Monday: Resident breakfast, departures and supplier collection. Checkout, house services and final breakdown/access times must be agreed

A courtyard welcome event and Sunday farewell gathering produce €6,000 in additional location charges before catering. One restaurant event and one courtyard event instead involve €3,000 in courtyard hire plus the restaurant’s separate terms. Do not pay for both models in the same budget.

For a short stay, we would resist adding a full-group excursion between every wedding event. A free afternoon lets guests enjoy Pienza, their hotel facilities or time with friends without another compulsory departure. A garden visit can be discussed with La Foce, but it should be scheduled around the private-event agreement rather than added as an assumed inclusion.

The all-weather event. Confirm seated dinner capacity, covered ceremony and drinks, late-night occupancy, routes and every reset. Obtain a priced approved structure plan where needed. This is the main physical booking condition.

The final payable contract. Confirm the applicable 2027 rate version, booking-calendar timing, tax treatment, accommodation selection, garden scope, extra-event days, mandatory operational charges and the complete payment/cancellation schedule.

The guest operation. Allocate the actual rooms, preserve the teenager qualification, agree transfers from the separate houses and hotels, and establish the midnight move and 2 a.m. departures.

Those are not reasons to dismiss La Foce. They are the points that turn an attractive shortlist entry into a wedding you can sensibly commit to.

Villa Cetinale: another historic garden estate for a smaller wedding

Cetinale is the natural comparison when the garden is the reason for choosing Tuscany. It has a 100-guest wedding maximum and accommodation for 48 across four properties, including 25 in the main villa. It offers a different historic setting near Siena, but it does not solve a guest list above 100. Compare the actual stay requirement, rental scope and covered plan rather than assuming two famous gardens operate alike.

Villa La Selva: more accommodation bundled into the base rental

La Selva’s exclusive-use model includes accommodation for up to 50, breakfast and room cleaning, with ceremony, cellar and outdoor event spaces. It is worth comparing when the couple wants more of the guest stay integrated into one package. La Foce’s compulsory rental houses 24, and its remaining wedding accommodation is added separately. 

Villa Bibbiani: a clearer large indoor reception proposition

Bibbiani’s 500 m² L-shaped event space seats 180, providing a more concrete indoor dinner capacity to start from. That makes it particularly relevant when the unresolved covered reception is the main concern at La Foce. The feel is a grand private villa and a separate event room rather than La Foce’s sequence of formal garden settings. The rental scope and whole-day rain sequence still need their own approval.

Our comparison is practical: Cetinale preserves the historic-garden focus at a smaller event scale; La Selva changes the accommodation package; Bibbiani provides a stated large indoor dinner space. None is a substitute for La Foce’s gardens when those are the central reason for the wedding.
