Il Salviatino Wedding Guide (2027): Pricing, Capacity & Everything to Know

Il Salviatino is a 15th-century villa hotel in the hills immediately above Florence, close enough to the city that guests can spend the weekend in central Florence but far enough uphill to feel removed from it. The property combines a historic villa, formal Italian gardens, panoramic terraces, a pool, spa and 39 rooms and suites. The defining visual feature is the view back over Florence, including the Duomo, rather than a remote countryside setting.

For weddings, 100 guests is the number that changes the planning. The 2027 wedding material supports blessing setups for 200 in the Giardino all'Italiana and 150 in La Piazzetta, but events over 100 require a temporary marquee, while the permanent indoor rooms are much more intimate. The venue can host a larger celebration, but above that threshold the structure, weather plan and production budget become a central part of the event rather than a backup detail.

Wedding pricing is bespoke rather than built around a fixed published package. The useful number is therefore the full commitment: rooms or buyout, wedding food and beverage, event spaces, Tearose design and production, temporary structures and any additional celebrations. A room-rate figure on its own does not describe the cost of an Il Salviatino wedding.

Il Salviatino works best when you want Florence to be part of the wedding rather than simply the airport you pass through on the way to rural Tuscany.

That sounds like a small distinction, but it changes the entire weekend. Guests can stay at the venue or in central Florence, use the hotel shuttle into the city during free time, and reach the property in roughly 15 minutes from Santa Maria Novella station or 25 minutes from Florence Airport. The ceremony can still feel distinctly Tuscan, but nobody needs a long transfer into Chianti or the Val d’Orcia.

The property is also better suited to a multi-space wedding than the phrase “villa hotel” suggests. A ceremony can happen in the Italian garden or on one of the terraces, cocktails can move into the Giardino del Belvedere or around the villa, dinner can sit on La Terrazza or in La Piazzetta, and the pool, vegetable garden and olive grove create separate settings for a welcome party or day-after event. The 2026 map shows these areas spread across the villa, gardens and lower park rather than concentrated in one ballroom wing.

The tradeoff is weather at scale. Il Salviatino has attractive indoor rooms, but they are intimate. Current planning evidence supports roughly 60 seated in the Biblioteca and about 40 in Sala Affresco, while the 2026 brochure positions the Loggiato mainly for standing cocktails or an after-dinner party. For events over 100, the venue requires a temporary marquee. A 120- or 150-person wedding should therefore treat the covered structure as part of the core design and budget, not as a last-minute rain expense.

Our preferred range is around 60-100 guests. At that size, the property feels substantial without forcing the wedding immediately into large temporary infrastructure, and 39 rooms can absorb a meaningful share of the wedding party even though the exact overnight headcount depends on room configuration. It also keeps the ceremony options flexible: the Italian garden can handle the group comfortably, while smaller terraces remain useful for family moments, welcome drinks and portraits.

Il Salviatino is less compelling for a guest list comfortably above 100 if the priority is an entirely open-air villa dinner, or for any couple who considers a large permanent ballroom essential. It is strongest for a wedding that wants Florentine character, straightforward access from the city and several outdoor settings within a full-service hotel rather than a remote countryside estate.

Il Salviatino does not present weddings as a fixed venue-rental package as bespoke proposals are built around the date, room commitment, event program, guest count and production scope.

How to read the proposal

The proposal is easiest to understand when it is broken into five separate pieces:

• Hotel rooms or full-property buyout and the number of nights required.
• Wedding food, beverage and event staffing.
• Use of specific event spaces and any exclusivity requirement attached to them.
• Tearose design, florals, lighting, entertainment and other event services, where selected or required.
• Temporary infrastructure such as a marquee, kitchen or restrooms for larger or garden-based events.

For early-stage budgeting, RoamRecs uses approximately €35,000-€45,000 per night for a full-property room buyout, with a two- to three-night planning assumption depending on the date. That creates a working hotel-accommodation line of roughly €70,000-€135,000 before wedding catering and production. 

The range is wide enough to matter. At the low end, two nights at €35,000 produces a €70,000 room commitment. At the high end, three nights at €45,000 produces €135,000 before wedding food, flowers, music or a marquee. The actual number will depend heavily on the date and exclusivity structure in the proposal.

What the hotel stay includes

Il Salviatino’s current room offering includes daily breakfast, and the hotel operates Da Giacomo al Salviatino, the Rosa Bar, Pool Bar and Aquae Vitali Spa. During a wedding buyout, the practical details are how breakfast, restaurant access, room service, spa use and private meals are handled for resident guests. 

What sits outside the room buyout

Budget separately for wedding menus and bar service, planning and coordination, flowers and creative design, furniture and tabletop, sound, lighting, entertainment, photography, video, transportation, ceremony costs and any welcome or farewell event. The brochure also lists photography/video, music and entertainment, hair and makeup, light design and shows, fireworks, cars, confetti, security and helicopter service as separately quoted items.

For the vegetable garden and olive grove, the brochure specifically notes an additional temporary-kitchen cost. For events over 100, it requires a temporary marquee and says temporary kitchen and restroom costs may also apply. These are the kinds of production charges that can make the final venue line meaningfully higher than the hotel room commitment.

The scenarios below assume a three-night full-property stay, one wedding reception, a welcome gathering and a farewell meal, professional planning and design, and organized local transportation. The 150-person model also includes a meaningful marquee and weather-infrastructure allowance because the venue requires a temporary marquee for events over 100 guests.

For a 100-person wedding, €225,000-€375,000 is the more useful working range. A two-night room commitment or a lower buyout rate could bring the total down materially; a more ambitious Tearose design, entertainment program or weather structure could move it higher.

How we would use the property

For roughly 80-100 guests, one attractive sequence is a ceremony in the Giardino all’Italiana, aperitivo around the Giardino del Belvedere and villa terraces, dinner in La Piazzetta or on La Terrazza if approved for the layout, then an indoor late-night transition. For a smaller wedding, the Pergola or Terrazza del Belvedere can make the ceremony feel genuinely intimate rather than simply underfilled.

The rain plan is the main logistical limitation to understand before booking.

The permanent indoor rooms are attractive, but they are not a like-for-like replacement for a large garden wedding. Biblioteca is around 60 seated in current event data, Sala Affresco around 40, and the Loggiato is primarily as a standing-cocktail or after-dinner backup.

That creates three practical bands:

• Under roughly 40 guests: there are several credible indoor combinations, and the venue can preserve much of the villa feel without a large temporary structure.
• Roughly 40-60 guests: Biblioteca becomes particularly useful, but the full day still needs a ceremony and drinks plan that does not rely on every guest standing in circulation spaces.
• Above roughly 60 guests: a fully seated wet-weather dinner increasingly depends on either a multi-room plan or a temporary covered structure. Above 100, the venue already requires a marquee.

For larger weddings, the marquee needs to work as part of the event rather than simply cover the tables. Its location, flooring and anchoring affect the gardens; catering needs a workable connection; guests need a sensible route to restrooms; and wind can matter as much as rain. The brochure specifically notes that temporary kitchen and restroom costs may be required.

The visual tradeoff matters too. Il Salviatino’s main appeal is the relationship between the historic villa, the gardens and Florence below. A well-designed transparent or open-sided structure can preserve that relationship. A last-minute opaque tent in the wrong part of the park can change the wedding completely.

Staying at Il Salviatino

Il Salviatino currently has 39 rooms and suites. The hotel describes them as individually designed accommodations with king beds, private bathrooms and views toward the Duomo, the park or the Tuscan countryside. Some suites can take an extra bed on request, and Grand Suites are created by combining interconnected suites.

The hotel does not publish one fixed sleeping-capacity number for those 39 rooms. The final overnight headcount depends on room categories, children, connecting suites and permitted extra beds. For a buyout, the rooming list should show standard occupancy, extra-bed options, connecting rooms and accessible accommodations so the guest plan can be built accurately.

The practical advantage is that the rooms are part of a functioning hotel, not a collection of self-catering farmhouses. Breakfast, restaurants, bars, spa and pool are already on-site. That makes the resident experience easier for a three-day wedding than at an estate where every meal and service has to be built from scratch.

Overflow guests: Florence is the obvious base

Il Salviatino is close enough to Florence that most overflow guests can stay in the city rather than in scattered country properties. That is one of the venue’s strongest logistical advantages. Central Florence gives guests restaurants, museums and bars within walking distance, while organized shuttles can bring them uphill for wedding events.

For a luxury room block, Four Seasons Hotel Firenze is the strongest large-scale option, with 121 accommodations and extensive event infrastructure of its own. The St. Regis Florence and Hotel Lungarno put guests in the historic center near the Arno, while Palazzo Portinari Salviati works for a smaller group wanting an intimate high-end hotel close to the Duomo. For guests who prefer the hills, Villa San Michele in Fiesole is a natural alternative, although using two hillside luxury hotels usually increases transfer complexity rather than reducing it.

Our preference would be to keep the couple, immediate family and wedding party at Il Salviatino, then concentrate the rest of the group in one or two central Florence hotels with a clear shuttle pickup point. Avoid splitting guests across many boutique hotels unless the group is intentionally self-directed.

Food and beverage

Il Salviatino operates Da Giacomo al Salviatino, the Rosa Bar and a seasonal Pool Bar, and its current event positioning emphasizes bespoke menus as part of the private-hire experience. For wedding budgeting, treat food and beverage as a separate proposal from the room commitment.

Tearose and creative production

Tearose is unusually integrated into this venue. Il Salviatino is owned by Alessandra Rovati Vitali, who also leads Tearose, and presents Tearose for floral design, décor and broader event production. 

Symbolic ceremony or blessing

This is the simplest on-site option.  Blessing setups at La Piazzetta for 150, Giardino all’Italiana for 200, the Pergola for 30, Terrazza del Belvedere for 25, and the vegetable garden and olive grove for 50. The venue can also arrange a master of ceremonies and help with vows and music.

Religious ceremony

The venue lists three nearby church options: Church of San Martino a Maiano, about 1 km away and listed for 50 guests; San Romolo Cathedral in Fiesole, listed for 400; and Church of San Martino a Mensola, listed for 150. It advises starting religious documentation at least six to eight months before the wedding and notes that Catholic, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish and Protestant celebrants can be arranged.

For a Catholic wedding, the parish, officiant, diocesan permissions and paperwork still need to be handled through the relevant church. The venue’s ability to assist with a celebrant does not replace religious authorization.

Il Salviatino is one of the easier high-end Tuscan wedding venues for international guests because it sits on the edge of Florence rather than deep in the countryside. The hotel gives the following drive times: Florence Santa Maria Novella station about 15 minutes, Florence Airport about 25 minutes and Pisa Airport about 1 hour 15 minutes. It also offers a complimentary shuttle between the property and central Florence during the day, with private transfers available.

• Florence Airport (FLR): About 25-35 minutes, plus baggage and group loading
• Florence Santa Maria Novella station: About 15-25 minutes
• Central Florence hotels: Usually about 15-25 minutes depending on ZTL access and traffic
• Pisa Airport (PSA): About 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes

For the wedding day, dedicated shuttles still make more sense than relying on the hotel’s city service. A courtesy shuttle is not designed to move an 80- or 100-person wedding on a fixed schedule, so the pickup hotel, vehicle sizes, loading point and return departures should be planned separately.

Florence’s historic center has restricted-traffic zones, so the best guest hotel is not necessarily the one closest to the Duomo. Coach and minibus loading access should be part of the room-block decision, especially for a large off-property group.

Late May, June and September are our first choices. The venue’s gardens, terraces and city views are central to the experience, so the best dates are the ones that make outdoor use comfortable without pushing guests into peak midsummer heat.

Late May and June

The strongest overall balance. May is milder and greener; June gives longer, warmer evenings with lower average rainfall. Both suit a ceremony in the gardens and dinner outside. The tradeoff is that these are naturally popular destination-wedding dates.

September

Probably the best late-season option. Average daytime highs remain around 27°C, but the heat is less intense than July and August. Rainfall begins to rise, so the wet-weather plan still matters, especially as the guest list moves above the permanent indoor-room capacities.

July and August

Best for low average rainfall, hardest on guests. Average highs are above 32°C, and hotter days are entirely possible. Push the ceremony later, provide shade and water, and avoid long exposed cocktail periods in the middle of the afternoon.

October

Comfortable daytime temperatures, but materially wetter. October averages around 104 mm of rain in Florence. For a small wedding that can genuinely move into Biblioteca and Sala Affresco, that may be manageable. For 100-plus guests, we would only choose October with the marquee plan and budget already resolved.

Il Salviatino is particularly good for couples who want the wedding and the city to feel like one trip rather than two separate experiences.

A three-night structure might look like this: guests arrive in Florence on Thursday, resident guests check into the villa and the wider group meets for a welcome aperitivo or dinner; Friday leaves time for Florence, spa appointments or a pool afternoon before an evening gathering; Saturday is the wedding; Sunday can finish with a brunch or poolside lunch before departures.

The hotel’s own experience list includes hot-air ballooning, yoga, cooking classes, bike tours, Chianti wine tastings and truffle hunting.

We would resist overprogramming the weekend. One of the venue’s advantages is that central Florence is genuinely accessible. Giving guests one unscheduled morning or afternoon to explore often adds more value than another organized excursion.

Villa San Michele, A Belmond Hotel: a smaller Fiesole hotel takeover

Villa San Michele is the closest conceptual comparison: another historic hotel in the Fiesole hills with Florence views. Belmond’s current celebration information supports a complete hotel takeover with all 39 rooms and suites, with events up to about 80 guests. That makes it a stronger comparison for a smaller wedding that wants true hotel exclusivity without Il Salviatino’s over-100 marquee question.

Four Seasons Hotel Firenze: much stronger indoor and large-event infrastructure

Four Seasons is the comparison for couples who want to remain in Florence but need more rooms and more permanent event infrastructure. It has 121 accommodations, a Convent Ballroom for 140 banquet guests and outdoor spaces that can handle much larger dinners. The experience is more grand hotel than private villa, but the rain plan is materially stronger for a large wedding.

Villa Cora: city-side historic hotel with a more compact feel

Villa Cora is worth comparing when you want a historic Florentine hotel rather than a countryside estate but prefer to be closer to the center. It has its own events team, rooms and suites, pool and gardens. The decision is less about headline capacity and more about whether Il Salviatino’s open hillside view or Villa Cora’s city-garden atmosphere fits the weekend better.
