Conti di San Bonifacio brings together a cypress-framed Hilltop Garden, a pool overlooking the countryside and an open-air Tree Bar where guests can gather between celebrations. Set near Gavorrano in southern Tuscany’s Maremma, it offers a small wine-resort stay rather than a grand villa in Chianti or a hotel near Florence.

The wedding can be much larger than the group staying together. The Hilltop Garden seats up to 150, while the resort’s 12 suites accommodate 24 guests in standard occupancy, or 30 with six extra beds. Maremmana Restaurant seats 70 indoors; a separately hired marquee can accommodate up to 130, depending on the layout. Your guest count therefore shapes both the accommodation plan and the kind of wedding you can have if it rains.

Conti di San Bonifacio works best when you want the atmosphere of a private country-house weekend without having to build the entire food-and-drink operation from scratch.

The different gathering places give a multi-day celebration some variety. The Hilltop Garden is the more formal, panoramic space; the Tree Bar is relaxed and sociable. The pool gives the aperitivo and next-day gathering a different feel again. Inside, Maremmana is a warm, beam-ceilinged restaurant rather than a ballroom. Moving between them keeps the weekend from feeling like three versions of the same reception.

The in-house kitchen is a practical advantage. Menus, estate wines, welcome dinners, brunch and bar service are organized through the same property, and the standard event setup includes rectangular tables, Tuscan chairs, linens, tableware and house lanterns. There is less to assemble from scratch than at a bare-estate rental, although event catering and your chosen suppliers still sit on top of the accommodation cost.

The small room inventory is part of the appeal, but it also means most guests at a larger wedding will commute. Even using all six extra beds, a 70-person wedding leaves 40 guests needing other accommodation. The restaurant’s 70-seat limit is the other important threshold: above it, hired weather cover becomes a substantial part of the budget and the design.

Our preferred range is roughly 50–70 guests. It suits the intimate scale of the property and keeps dinner within the restaurant’s stated capacity, provided the rest of the indoor plan works alongside it. At 80–100, Conti can still suit couples happy to include a marquee and organized shuttles. A wedding of 131–150 is a less straightforward fit because it exceeds the standard marquee’s capacity; the rain-plan section explains that limit.

Cost is the other reason to be deliberate. The €55,500 summer rental does not fall because you invite fewer people. May and October reduce the same three-night rental to €43,500, a €12,000 difference before a single menu or flower changes. For a smaller wedding, that date decision may matter more than trimming the guest list.

Bottom line: We would shortlist Conti for couples who care about food, wine, countryside views and a close family group staying together. We would look elsewhere for a 100-person all-guests-on-site weekend, a grand indoor reception hall, unrestricted catering choice or a party continuing beyond 3 a.m. For a genuinely tiny celebration, the separate intimate-wedding and elopement offerings deserve a look before committing to the full-estate model.

The standard exclusive-use rental

The seasonal rental is charged per night, and the figures below include VAT. The standard tariff is undated, so its applicability to your wedding dates needs to be included in the proposal. The separately dated winter offers below have their own terms.

The three-night column makes the seasons comparable. For a summer or weekend celebration, budget for three nights. Qualifying lower-season/weekday dates allow two nights, which calculates to €19,000 in April or €29,000 in May or October. The exact minimum depends on the season and arrival days specified in the booking.

What the rental includes

The rental covers exclusive use of the resort, its 12 suites for up to 30 guests including the six extra beds, breakfast for residents and daily housekeeping. Wedding food, drinks and services are added to that residential buyout.

The standard wedding setup includes rectangular tables, Tuscan chairs, white wedding linens, silver-finish cutlery, plates, glassware, house lanterns and wine barrels or cocktail tables. Welcome-event linens can be gray or red-and-white checked. Bespoke flowers, upgraded furniture, elaborate lighting and other design additions sit outside that standard setup.

The two-event requirement

A wedding booking requires at least two events during the stay: the wedding itself and another gathering, such as a welcome dinner or next-day brunch. You do not have to host both. The wedding-day aperitivo is also mandatory and is part of the wedding, rather than the additional event.

For example, at 70 adults, the €40 aperitivo, €170 dinner and €80 next-day brunch total €20,300. Added to a three-night summer rental, those selections come to €75,800, before cake, evening open bar, ceremony, coordination, suppliers or transport. This calculation assumes the same 70 adults at each event; it is a starting comparison, not a complete wedding budget.

Selected-date winter offers: 2026–27 and 2027–28

Winter also has a separate, date-specific offering with a two-night minimum on selected dates. Its advertised weekend starting rates are:

These selected-date promotions have a different booking scope from the standard seasonal rental. Compare the full winter proposal, including its guest allowance, meals, coordination, bar and VAT treatment, rather than comparing nightly figures alone. The appeal is a shorter, indoor-focused celebration, not simply a discounted summer wedding.

What sits outside the rental

Budget separately for event food and drinks, ceremony services, coordination or full planning, flowers, entertainment, photography and video, bespoke rentals, lighting, guest transport and any marquee or required wooden dance floor. Meals and drinks for resident guests beyond included breakfast and the events you have booked also need a budget.

Booking deposits paid by credit card carry a 3% charge; this is not automatically a surcharge on the entire wedding bill. The contract also needs to set out installments, cancellation and postponement terms, and any separate damage security. Refundable security is a cash requirement, not a spent wedding expense.

Wedding-day aperitivo and dinner

The mandatory aperitivo includes food buffets and two hours of drinks. The selection includes estate wines, Prosecco, beer, Aperol and Campari spritz, soft drinks and water. The formal dinner is a three-course menu with its specified estate-wine selection, water, soft drinks and coffee.

The wine pairing changes with the dinner tier. Nobiluomo includes the estate Sangiovese; Visconte includes Monteregio di Massa Marittima Riserva; Conte includes Docet Toscana. The combined prices pair matching aperitivo and dinner tiers. Mixing tiers is a menu choice to discuss with the resort.

The children's dinner is €75 per child aged 3–14 and includes three courses, water and soft drinks. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free menus can be requested. For a mixed-age guest list, separate the children’s meals and drinks from the adult event and bar calculation.

The venue's cake is optional, and an external cake supplier is allowed. House spirits include gin, vodka, rum, red vermouth and triple sec; premium bottles are priced separately by brand and quantity.

A Nobiluomo aperitivo and dinner, millefoglie and three-hour bar total €267 per adult. Adding the €10 late-night snack brings that selection to €277 per adult. Drinks run through three defined parts of the day: the two-hour aperitivo, the beverages included with dinner, and the selected evening-bar period.

Brunch and BBQ service lasts three hours, either 11 a.m.–2 p.m. or 1–4 p.m., and can take place poolside or beside the Tree Lounge Bar. A farewell brunch is a separate hosted event, not the breakfast already included for overnight guests.

Every model includes the €55,500 summer rental, a pizza welcome evening, Nobiluomo aperitivo and dinner, millefoglie, a three-hour evening bar ending by 1 a.m., late-night snacks, farewell brunch, a €600 symbolic ceremony and the €1,450 coordination service. It also includes a €45 wedding-day lunch for 24 residents, additional destination-planning support, professional suppliers and local event shuttles.

The models assume 24 overnight guests and three hosted celebrations, with all wedding attendees treated as adults and the same attendance at each event. A welcome evening plus wedding already meets the two-event requirement, so the farewell brunch is optional. The food and bar selections stay the same at both ends of each range; supplier choices and the level of production account for the difference.

Supplier allowances include ordinary service and tax costs as gross planning targets. The 100-person model’s €12,000–€25,000 weather allowance covers a practical installed marquee, flooring and basic weather-related infrastructure, rather than an elaborate bespoke tent design. The 50- and 70-person models rely on a workable restaurant-based plan and include neither an installed marquee nor a separately charged marquee reservation.

Exclusions. Off-property accommodation, including Tuscan Townhouse; flights and airport transfers; attire, rings and honeymoon; meals or drinks outside the specified services; premium menu or bar upgrades; post-1 a.m. charges; optional card-payment fees; refundable security; and any separately assessed local stay tax.

For all three sizes, actual supplier proposals replace the allowances. Any extra venue or staffing charges introduced in the final agreement would sit outside these modeled services.

Where the meaningful savings are

Changing the 70-person model from summer to May or October reduces the rental by €12,000 and the calculated total to €115,462–€150,662, with everything else unchanged. Additional heating or weather protection could absorb some of that saving.

Removing the 70-person farewell brunch from an itinerary that already has a welcome event and wedding saves €5,600 before contingency and €6,160 within this model. The two-event requirement is still satisfied. Moving from matching Nobiluomo to matching Conte aperitivo/dinner tiers adds €60 per adult, or €4,200 at 70 guests, before contingency.

We would prioritize the date, number of hosted meals and level of production before cutting the elements that make the venue appealing in the first place.

How guest count changes the setting

The Hilltop Garden seats 150; Maremmana seats 70 indoors. A hired marquee provides a larger covered option for up to 130, depending on the reception layout. The restaurant also holds 120 standing, which is useful for understanding the room’s flexibility but is not its seated dinner capacity.

The Hilltop Garden is the signature outdoor dinner setting. Parallel long tables leave the countryside view open and keep the garden itself as the focal point. They also suit a wedding where the table, rather than a stage or large installation, is the center of the evening.

Maremmana offers a different mood. It is intimate and residential, with a long-table feel rather than the scale or symmetry of a ballroom. For a smaller wedding, that can be a strength. For a couple picturing a large band, a permanent dance floor and dinner in one room, it is a more constrained proposition.

The Tree Bar is particularly useful over several days because it gives guests somewhere to gather that does not feel like they are returning to the formal wedding reception. Poolside drinks provide another change of scene. We would use those differences rather than heavily decorating every space to look the same.

How we would arrange the wedding day

For a dry-weather wedding, we would start with a Hilltop Garden ceremony, move to the pool for the two-hour aperitivo, then return to the garden for dinner. Dancing could follow on the Olive Grove Terrace or beside the Tree Lounge Bar. The aperitivo gives the team time to turn the garden from ceremony seating to dinner tables while guests enjoy a different part of the estate.

That sequence is a suggested use of the spaces, not a fixed itinerary. It should be adapted to your guest list, particularly for anyone who finds steps, grass or gravel difficult.

For a wedding of up to 70, Maremmana Restaurant is the permanent indoor dinner option. Timber beams, terracotta and long tables make it a more intimate alternative to the panoramic garden. An indoor ceremony followed by a candlelit banquet has also been used at the resort.

The dinner capacity is only one part of the plan. A ceremony and aperitivo need space while dinner is being prepared, and dancing needs its own covered arrangement afterward. If Maremmana is used for more than one stage, the running order must allow for furniture changes and give guests somewhere comfortable to gather during them. This matters most at the full 70-seat count, where there is less room to spare.

For 71–130 guests, the larger covered option is a separately hired marquee in front of the main building. The stated 130-person capacity still needs to work with your dinner layout; adding a large stage or permanent dance floor can reduce the space available for tables. The restaurant and marquee are separate spaces, not one continuous reception room.

The marquee requires an additional nonrefundable 10% reservation deposit. If it is not needed, only that deposit is retained. The calculation basis, euro amount, decision deadline and full installed price need to be specified in the proposal. Flooring, sides, lighting and sheltered access matter to both the cost and how comfortable the wedding feels in bad weather.

For 131–150 guests, neither the restaurant nor the standard marquee accommodates the full group. A wedding at that size needs a separately approved covered solution. Splitting dinner between spaces would change the shared experience, so a smaller guest list may be the better choice.

We would choose a covered arrangement you would be happy to use, not merely one that gets everyone out of the rain. That is one reason 50–70 guests is our preferred range here.

Staying at the wine resort

The buyout includes 12 suites for 24 guests in standard occupancy, plus six extra beds for a maximum of 30. Breakfast and daily housekeeping are included. Those extra beds expand the sleeping capacity, not the number of separate bedrooms.

This is enough to create a close family and wedding-party group, but not enough to house most larger weddings.

We would allocate the standard suites first, then use additional beds where guests are comfortable sharing. Families’ sleeping arrangements, rooms for anyone with mobility needs and space for wedding preparations are worth settling before asking guests to contribute toward the stay.

Tuscan Townhouse, Montemassi

The sister property's apartments in Montemassi accommodate a further 22 guests in a village setting near the castle. They are booked separately from the wine resort, with a RoamRecs transfer allowance of roughly 15–25 minutes by car.

The Townhouse could suit a second family group who want a village stay while remaining connected to the resort. Using its 22 places alongside the resort’s 24 standard places accommodates 46 across two locations. Guests at the Townhouse still need transport for each hosted event.

Other nearby options

Our preference would be one main hotel for the off-site group, with the Townhouse used for family or friends who want to stay together. Keeping pickups concentrated makes welcome dinners and late-night returns easier than collecting guests from many rural rentals. A convenient loading point can matter more than a slightly shorter drive.

In-house food and drink

Maremmana Restaurant prepares the wedding food and beverage service. This is not an unrestricted outside-caterer venue. The menus and drinks are closely connected to the estate's own wines, and the per-person prices make it possible to build a detailed hospitality budget early. The explicit exception is the wedding cake, which may come from an external supplier.

The practical advantage is continuity across the weekend. A pizza party, formal wedding dinner and relaxed brunch can all be handled by the same operation. The tradeoff is less freedom to appoint a separate specialist caterer or bring in an outside bar concept.

Coordination is not the same as full planning

The €1,450 coordination service covers managing already-appointed vendors, timelines, the final walkthrough, rehearsal and wedding-day execution, plus setup and removal of items brought by the couple or coordinator. Selecting and hiring the vendors is outside that stated scope.

For a destination wedding with off-site accommodation, transport and a marquee, we would budget for broader planning support. The agreement needs to establish whether the venue’s coordination service is required and where an independent planner’s responsibilities begin, so you are not paying twice for the same wedding-day work. Florals are handled by your chosen florist; other supplier appointments are subject to the venue’s operating arrangements.

Music until 3 a.m., with a separate late charge

Open bar, music and dancing may continue until 3 a.m. maximum. After 1 a.m., a €500-per-hour supplement applies in addition to the bar package. Venue staff may also replace glassware with non-glass alternatives after 1 a.m.

For example, a three-hour bar from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. costs €45 per adult. A five-hour bar from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. costs €75 per adult, plus €1,000 for the two late hours. At 70 adults, the longer option costs €6,250 rather than €3,150, an increase of €3,100. At 100 adults, the increase is €4,000. These examples assume all guests are charged for the selected bar duration.

Dancing beside the Tree Lounge Bar requires a hired wooden floor. The Olive Grove Terrace has no dance-location fee, with the DJ or band, sound, lighting and equipment budgeted separately. Music remains subject to the venue’s sound conditions, as well as the 3 a.m. finish.

Symbolic ceremony

A symbolic ceremony costs €600, with a celebrant excluded. A friend or family member can lead it, or you can hire a professional celebrant. Ceremony setup includes chairs and a lemonade corner.

The main garden is the simplest setting. An olive-grove or other nearby ceremony location adds €200; a vineyard location adds €400, including a resort vehicle to transport the setup rather than the guests. A three-night stay gives the wedding room to breathe. One practical format is Friday arrival and a pizza party, Saturday's ceremony and reception, Sunday brunch or a BBQ, and Monday departure.

On Friday, the Tree Bar makes sense as the gathering point. A family-style meal helps guests settle in without using all the formality of the wedding day. On Saturday, keep the resident lunch light and allow time for the garden setup before guests arrive from their hotels. Sunday can be slower, with a three-hour brunch or BBQ in one of the venue's agreed service windows.

There is no need to schedule every spare hour. The best use of the private stay may be breakfast together, an afternoon by the pool and time to enjoy the countryside.
