Borgo Finocchieto Wedding Cost: Pricing, Capacity & Everything to Know

Borgo Finocchieto is a collection of five restored houses around a village piazza near Buonconvento, south of Siena. Its appeal is the stay as much as the wedding: breakfast together, afternoons by the pool, a long dinner beneath the pergola and close family disappearing into their own houses at the end of the night. The estate has 22 bedrooms for 44 guests in standard double occupancy.

Three-night packages start at €58,080 for Intimate, €85,500 for Entourage and €99,340 for Grand, including 10% VAT. These are the starting costs of the stay and the listed package services, not the complete wedding. Borgo Finocchieto gives €300,000 as its starting-budget guidance for bespoke weddings, a separate measure explained in the pricing section below.

The main tradeoff is between the outdoor celebration and the indoor fallback. The pergola seats 110 at one long table, while the Borgo’s own Plan B consists of two much smaller rooms. For a larger wedding, a marquee or a separately arranged alternative is part of the design, not simply a last-minute precaution.

There is a useful balance here between togetherness and privacy. Five houses around a piazza give the wedding a shared center without putting every family in one building. The courtyard, pergola, lawn and pool offer different settings, so a welcome meal does not have to look like a smaller version of the reception. Breakfast and housekeeping in the packages make the residential experience feel hosted rather than like a collection of self-catering rentals.

The strongest visual combination is the village architecture and open countryside. We would let those do most of the work: a ceremony facing the landscape, drinks in the piazza, then a long-table dinner. The pergola is especially compelling for couples who want everyone at one continuous table instead of scattered across a large lawn. Its listed 110-seat layout gives that idea a tangible scale.

Our preferred larger-wedding range is about 70–100 guests. That keeps the guest list below the pergola’s listed 110-seat arrangement, with the final table design and service plan developed for the group. At 100, 56 guests would stay elsewhere if all 44 standard sleeping places were used. Keeping those guests in one or two nearby accommodation hubs makes the weekend feel more connected than a collection of separate arrivals.

An all-resident gathering of up to 44 has a different appeal: everyone can share the village for the full stay. The high fixed package cost, however, means a shorter guest list does not produce a proportionately smaller bill. The smaller wedding also needs an indoor dinner arrangement the couple likes; the Borgo’s fallback is spread across two rooms rather than one reception hall.

At 150, the design changes more substantially. The Grand package allows that event count, but the standard pergola arrangement does not. A lawn-based marquee or a separately arranged reception setting becomes central to the celebration, with a larger transport operation for guests staying elsewhere.

Finocchieto makes the most sense for couples who want a private, hosted village stay as well as the wedding day, and who are comfortable funding the weather protection and transport around it. It is less suitable for a budget-led small wedding, for a group above 44 that must all sleep on-site, or for a large reception that needs one permanent indoor room. The value lies in several days together across the five houses, not in maximizing the number of guests the grounds can hold.

The three-night packages

These are starting totals for three nights, including 10% VAT. They are not nightly rates or complete wedding budgets. The dated booking proposal establishes the applicable wedding year and final price.

Entourage specifies all 22 bedrooms for 44 residents. Grand’s 150-person allowance is for events, not accommodation, and the houses included in Grand still need to be identified in its proposal. The budget model below assumes the full 44-person inventory.

Intimate specifies nine suites for 18 guests, matching the main Finocchieto Villa’s inventory. It should be compared as a nine-suite offer, with access to the other houses and the extent of private use settled in the booking.

How the €300,000 guidance fits

The €300,000 starting-budget guidance for bespoke weddings describes the scale of the overall celebration. It is not a fourth package, an additional hire fee or an established contractual minimum payable entirely to the venue.

For couples considering Intimate or Entourage, the important unresolved question is whether the estate accepts that smaller wedding format at a lower total budget. The lower package price does not answer it. A proposal for the actual guest count and dates needs to show both the amount payable to the estate and the separate wedding costs.

Marquee setup and the pre-event day

Entourage and Grand include marquee setup fees with one pre-event day. The structure, flooring, power, climate control, lighting, furniture and dismantling still need an itemized scope and price. The quote should distinguish the included setup service from the supplier’s additional work, without charging twice for an identical service.

The pre-event day is installation time, not an additional overnight stay.

Meals and drinks

Food is priced separately from the residential packages. The following meal prices include 10% VAT. The wedding dinner is a starting price, with a customized menu rather than a fixed standard menu.

Meals include DOCG Tuscan wine at one bottle per four people, soft drinks, coffee and Italian liqueurs served at the table. For 100 guests, that is 25 bottles for a meal. Additional wine and a cocktail bar are separate from this allowance.

A welcome dinner at €165, wedding dinner at €275 and farewell lunch at €75 total €515 per person, or €51,500 for 100 guests, at the listed meal rates. Added to Grand, that produces a €150,840 package-and-meal subtotal, before most of the design, entertainment, weather protection, bar and planning costs.

What sits outside the package

The separately priced meals above are optional purchases, not compulsory additions for every day of the stay. A couple might host all meals, send guests out for lunch or hold an event elsewhere. Breakfast is the meal included in the residential packages.

The wider wedding budget includes the aperitivo and expanded bar, menu and wine upgrades, cake or dessert additions, flowers, furniture and tabletop upgrades, lighting, sound, entertainment, photography, video, planning and transport. Catering and production quotes should account for any equipment or staffing already included.

Use of the neighboring Castle and any additional event or location charges also sit outside these starting calculations. The package agreement needs to identify which spaces and gatherings are covered, including attendance by guests staying elsewhere.

A 100-guest, three-night planning model

The model below totals approximately €300,000–€400,000 for 100 wedding guests over three nights, with 44 residents. It is a defined spending scenario using the starting package and meal rates, without an event-year or seasonal price adjustment.

It assumes Grand is available at its starting price, includes all 44 residential places and permits the proposed gatherings. The hosted meals are a welcome dinner, wedding dinner and farewell lunch for 100, plus one additional lunch and dinner for the 44 residents. Breakfast is already in the package. A substantial marquee allowance reflects the limited permanent indoor fallback.

Supplier allowances include an allowance for applicable taxes; the venue and meal rows already include 10% VAT. The marquee row covers the additional build beyond any identical setup service already included in the package.

Excluded: separately charged event or Castle hire, any package uplift, local accommodation tax or other mandatory charge identified in the eventual proposal; off-site guest rooms; flights and airport transfers; attire, rings and honeymoon; and refundable security. Any such charges increase the amount required. The model assumes coordinated supplier scopes without duplicate equipment, staffing or production charges, and is not an all-inclusive ceiling.

The dinner layouts that shape the wedding

The most useful numbers are the 150-guest Grand event allowance, the 110-seat pergola and the courtyard’s three different dinner layouts. They answer different questions: what the package covers, where dinner can fit, and how it can be arranged.

The courtyard is not an 80-person long-table venue. At that count, the listed arrangement uses round tables. Couples picturing one continuous table there should work with the 44-person layout; the pergola is the clearer route to that look for a larger group.

The pergola’s 110-seat configuration is also specific. Broader tables, substantial floral installations or extra space for service can change the usable count. This is one reason we prefer a larger wedding around 70–100 rather than automatically filling every listed seat.

How we would use the village

For around 80–100 guests, an appealing sequence is a ceremony on the lawn, aperitivo in the piazzetta, then dinner under the pergola. The change from open landscape to village gathering space to a long table gives the day variety without requiring a different property for every moment. The lawn and courtyard are established ceremony settings.

Borgo Finocchieto’s broader reception offering reaches 250 guests, beyond Grand’s 150-person allowance. That scale needs a separately priced event design; it is not the capacity of a permanent indoor dining room.

At 150, the pergola is too small for the full group in its listed arrangement. A lawn-based build or separately contracted alternative changes both the atmosphere and the cost. That is a different wedding design, not just another 40 chairs.

The Borgo itself: 34 plus 10, in separate rooms

The Borgo’s Plan B consists of two rooms listed for 34 and 10 people. These are stated room capacities, not confirmed seated dinner layouts. Even if all 44 can be accommodated across them, it would be a split-room celebration rather than one shared reception with common sightlines for speeches.

For 18 guests, the larger room is a promising starting point, subject to a seated plan. For a group of 44, the decision is whether a workable two-room dinner would deliver the atmosphere you want. The same rooms cannot replace the full reception for 80, 100 or 150 guests.

The pergola remains an outdoor setting rather than a weatherproof room. The courtyard’s arcades likewise do not cover the whole dinner area.

A marquee for the larger wedding

The lawn can accommodate tents, and Entourage and Grand include marquee setup fees. A planned marquee is therefore an established on-property option for a larger celebration, with its size, location and specification tailored to the event.

It also changes the experience. Dinner moves from the intimacy of the pergola or stone courtyard to a purpose-built reception space on the lawn. That can still suit the village setting, but the flooring, shelter and lighting become part of the wedding design and budget.

The covered plan needs to work before dinner as well as during it. A ceremony and aperitivo taking place while the tables are already set may need separate zones or a room changeover. Dancing needs its own arrangement too. For a 100-person wedding, we would budget for that complete sequence rather than a structure that only covers the dinner tables.

The neighboring Castle

Castello Villa Torre offers a nearby alternative through an arrangement with its owners. It is separate from the Borgo rental, and its indoor rooms occupy different floors. The exact seated capacity of the proposed room remains unresolved, so the Castle should only form the basis of a larger reception once its layout, hire terms and availability are agreed.

A Castle-based plan also introduces a move between properties, with particular implications for guests who need step-free access. It may be an appealing alternative, but it is not an automatically included, single-room backup.

Our preference at around 100 guests is to fund a suitable marquee unless a separately reserved alternative already works for the whole day. At 44, the two-room option deserves equal attention: the best backup is a dinner you would still be pleased to host.

How the 44 sleeping places are arranged

Borgo Finocchieto’s standard accommodation is 22 bedrooms across five houses, sleeping 44 at double occupancy. The houses are arranged around the village’s communal spaces rather than spread across a large resort.

We would allocate houses before allocating individual rooms. One side of the family might appreciate Fede together, while a couple with young children may prefer the privacy of a smaller house. Choose the getting-ready suite around the people sharing the morning, including the wedding party, hair and makeup team, and photographer.

Some suites have pull-out couches for additional guests. The standard inventory remains 44; any extra occupants, child arrangements and charges need a room-specific agreement.

Where the remaining guests should stay

We would build the overflow plan around Buonconvento and nearby countryside properties, rather than ask most guests to make a long return journey after every event. Use one main hotel hub and, where useful, a second villa or agriturismo hub. The goal is not to find an identical second Borgo; it is to give guests a comfortable stay and a simple route to the wedding.

Hotel Ghibellino, Buonconvento. A practical town option with 23 rooms. It is a different proposition from the private-village stay: a conventional hotel base for guests who value convenience over a luxury estate experience. Allow approximately 10–15 minutes to the Borgo by road as a RoamRecs planning estimate.

Fattoria Pieve a Salti. A countryside option offering rooms, suites and apartments, with restaurant and leisure facilities. Its accommodation is distributed between two complexes, so the booked unit and shuttle pickup point matter. It is useful for guests who would enjoy an agriturismo stay rather than a town hotel. Allow approximately 15–25 minutes by road.

Ombroneta, formerly Casali di Bibbiano. A nearby villa-estate option with two villas totaling 15 bedrooms and a separate one-bedroom cottage. This is worth investigating for a coordinated family or friends’ group, rather than treating it like an ordinary hotel block with individually interchangeable rooms. Allow approximately 5–15 minutes by road, depending on the pickup point.

The transfer times above are RoamRecs planning allowances. For room blocks, compare availability, minimum stays, breakfast and cancellation terms, and decide whether guests book individually or the couple contracts the rooms.

Siena and Montalcino can work for guests adding sightseeing, dining or wine-country days to the trip. We would use them selectively rather than scatter the whole wedding between several towns. A beautiful room is less useful when its location creates a separate shuttle route for every meal.

Making the two guest experiences feel connected

At a 100-person wedding, more than half the group will sleep elsewhere. Include them in a clear welcome event, give them a dependable transfer plan and explain which daytime activities are open to everyone. It is easy for the resident group to feel naturally included while the rest are left working out when they should arrive.

Accommodation contributions can help a couple fund the private stay, but they are reimbursements within the overall budget, not a reduction in the venue’s underlying price. Set those expectations before assigning rooms, especially when different houses or room sizes create different experiences.

A food-led stay, with a separately planned reception

Chef Roberto Rossi’s approach centers on Tuscan produce and seasonal cooking. That is a good fit for the setting: a generous lunch, a pasta-and-pizza welcome evening or a formal dinner can feel like different parts of the same weekend rather than unrelated catered events.

Wedding dinner starts at €275 per person with a menu tailored to the couple. The full catering brief should distinguish the aperitivo, dinner, cake or dessert, dietary menus and late bar. The meal prices and included wine allowance are set out in the cost section above.

The food program centers on the venue’s culinary team. Couples needing a particular cultural caterer, kosher catering, a live cooking station or another specialist service should raise that early: outside-caterer permissions and specialist arrangements still need to be agreed.

Planner and supplier choice

Couples may choose their own planner. The venue recommends Alice Bracciali of Unique Events in Tuscany, but that is not an exclusive appointment or an included planning service.

For a wedding involving a marquee, overflow accommodation and several hosted events, we would appoint a planner with enough on-site support to manage all three. The property team’s role and the couple’s planner’s role should be clear, particularly for supplier supervision, wet-weather decisions and the final running order.

A chosen photographer or florist and a marquee production team bring different requirements. The planner should coordinate approvals and access with the estate rather than leave individual suppliers to work out the event between them.

Midnight outdoors, then an indoor party

Outdoor music is allowed until midnight, and the party can continue indoors with no stated curfew. For a larger wedding, the useful detail is which indoor room can hold the party, at what sound level and with what bar and staffing hours. Those arrangements remain to be agreed; an enclosed marquee should not be assumed to qualify for the indoor policy.

We would start the move indoors before midnight so the transition does not interrupt the party. An earlier shuttle gives guests a comfortable exit, with the last return timed to the agreed finish of service.

Symbolic ceremonies

The lawn and arcaded inner courtyard provide two different ceremony moods: open countryside or the village’s architecture. For a symbolic ceremony, choose the setting around the view, sun direction, guest seating and how the group moves on to drinks.

A later-afternoon ceremony is an attractive starting point for the warmer months, provided the light and dinner timing work. The outdoor scene still needs a wet-weather counterpart within the overall reception plan.

Legally binding civil ceremonies

On-site civil-marriage authorization still needs to be established with the venue and Comune di Buonconvento, along with the designated setting, registrar, fees and documents required for the couple’s circumstances. Symbolic-ceremony arrangements do not settle those legal requirements.

The practical alternative is to complete the legal marriage at home or at an authorized municipal location, then hold the personal ceremony at the Borgo. That leaves more freedom over the timing and content of the celebration.

Religious ceremonies

Santa Teresa incorporates the village’s former chapel, now used as accommodation. The accommodation booking should not be treated as a church reservation.

A Catholic or other religious ceremony needs an appropriate setting and religious approval. An off-property ceremony can be followed by a reception at the Borgo, with the church booking and transfers arranged separately.

Borgo Finocchieto is in Località Bibbiano, outside Buonconvento. Florence is the most straightforward airport reference for many guests, while Rome can be useful when its flight options avoid a connection. The venue places Florence Airport at about 1½ hours by car and Rome Fiumicino at about 2¾ hours; the allowances below add practical margin.

These are road-transfer planning estimates. Allow additional time for baggage collection, group loading, traffic and hotel access. Guests arriving at Buonconvento station should have the final transfer to the estate booked in advance, with train services checked for their travel dates.

For wedding shuttles, fewer accommodation hubs usually produce a better experience. Have the transport operator agree vehicle size, access and the loading point with the venue before selecting coaches. Provide return times as part of the invitation information, including an earlier departure option for families and older guests.

Our first choices would be late May, June or September, with a weather plan that is fully funded in any month.

July and August call for shade, water and a thoughtful ceremony time. September can be comfortable, but it is not a rain-free choice. October puts more weight on a genuinely appealing covered event.

Choose spring or autumn for the experience rather than an assumed rental saving. Moving the wedding to a different month does not establish a discount on these starting prices; the comparison needs to be made between offers for the actual dates.

A three-night offer is enough for an arrival evening, wedding day and a more relaxed day afterward. We would resist filling every gap with an excursion. The private-village experience is one of the reasons to pay for the stay.

This is a suggested sequence for the budget model, rather than an included itinerary. The booking should cover these gatherings, their hours and attendance by nonresidents.

The pool, tennis, bocce and spa facilities support a relaxed day at the village. Winery visits, local excursions and other activities can add variety for a longer stay, but scheduled treatments, guides and transport should be treated as separate bookings rather than free inclusions.

For the resident group, a single long courtyard table for 44 can make the welcome dinner feel distinctly different from a lawn ceremony. For the larger wedding, the piazzetta lends itself to an informal gathering, while the pergola provides the more focused main dinner.

Three questions will do most to establish whether Finocchieto fits your wedding.

What is the complete price for our format? Ask for the chosen package, houses, gatherings, taxes and mandatory charges, and how the €300,000 bespoke-wedding guidance applies to that guest count.

What would our wedding look like in sustained rain? Ask to see the seated dinner arrangement and the covered sequence for the ceremony, drinks and dancing, including any separately hired space.

How will the stay and late party work for everyone? Establish the room allocation, access for guests staying elsewhere, the indoor party room and its capacity, service hours and return transport. The payment and cancellation terms should then reflect that agreed scope.

Villa La Selva: another residential wine-estate weekend
