Best Christmas Bars & Holiday Pop-Ups in NYC (2026)
21 places for festive cocktails, over-the-top decorations, cozy pubs, and a proper holiday night out

New York has a few very different answers to "let's get a Christmas drink." There's the old tavern glowing under red lights, the Victorian dining room with ornaments on every surface, and the cocktail bar that spends six weeks serving drinks out of Santa-boot mugs. Then there are the places where the evening comes with a skyline view or a cabaret.
This guide to the best Christmas bars in NYC covers all of them, plus the holiday pop-up bars that make December feel different from any other month. We've leaned toward places worth planning a night around, with room for neighborhood pubs and Brooklyn and Queens favorites, not just the Manhattan rooms everyone photographs.
Christmas 2026 note: Announced dates are below. Three seasonal favorites that haven't confirmed a 2026 return are grouped near the end, followed by a short watchlist.

Classic Christmas Bars in Manhattan
Established pubs and restaurants where the decorations are part of the draw. Most haven't published 2026 decorating dates yet; Rolf's says its display stays up all year.

Pete's Tavern
129 E 18th St, New York, NY 10003, USA
If you're only picking one old New York tavern, pick this one. The red Christmas lights give the room its glow, but the real appeal is that you can make a whole evening of it: sit down, eat, have a drink, and let the room do the rest. Book ahead for a December dinner; this is one of Union Square's go-to holiday stops. Details: 129 East 18th Street at Irving Place, Gramercy. Resy for parties up to nine, larger groups direct. Kids are fine at restaurant tables but not at the bar.

Lillie's Victorian Establishment (Union Square)
13 E 17th St, New York, NY 10003, USA
Lillie's is for the night when you want the room to do half the entertaining. The Victorian interior gives the decorations a suitably extravagant backdrop, and the Union Square branch works best when dinner is part of the plan. Dress up a little and bring friends. Pete's, a few blocks away, is the simpler tavern version of the same evening. Details: 13 East 17th Street, Union Square. Reserve through the official page and select Union Square; the two locations use different booking systems.

Oscar Wilde
45 W 27th St, New York, NY 10001, USA
Oscar Wilde already has the antiques, the long marble bar, and the Victorian everything to make a normal Tuesday feel like an occasion. The holiday decorations just pile on. It gets loud and packed in December, so it's better for a celebratory group night than a quiet catch-up. Details: 45 West 27th Street, NoMad. A dining reservation is the smarter move if you actually want a table.

Rolf's
281 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10010, USA
Rolf's looks as though the decorating continued until there was no ceiling left. Ornaments, lights, and greenery in dense layers, which is why it ends up on every Christmas itinerary. Go for a drink and the room. Reviews on food, service, and value are mixed, so dinner only makes sense if you also want Southern German cooking. The restaurant says the decorations stay up all year. Details: 281 Third Avenue at East 22nd Street, Gramercy. Bar is first come, first served. Dining reservations by phone: 212-477-4750 or 212-473-8718.

Molly's Shebeen
287 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10010, USA
Molly's would be a good December night even without decorations: wood-burning fireplace, mahogany bar, shepherd's pie, lamb stew, fish and chips. Locals recommend it for the festive lights and the pub feel. It's next door to Rolf's, which makes an easy pairing: see the famous room, then eat here. Details: 287 Third Avenue, Gramercy. Call 212-889-3361 for dining or group plans.

Paddy Maguire's Ale House
237 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10003, USA
Festive decorations, pints, and two regulation pool tables. That's the pitch, and it's a good one for a group that wants a neighborhood pub with something to do after the first round. It shows up alongside Molly's in local recommendations, so it's a useful backup when the Third Avenue spots are packed. Details: 237 Third Avenue, Gramercy. Contact the bar ahead for an organized group outing.

Lillie's Victorian Establishment (Times Square)
249 W 49th St, New York, NY 10019, USA
Same Victorian room dressed for the holidays, in a location that works around a theater ticket. This is the Lillie's to book when festive drinks or dinner need to fit into a Midtown day. Daily afternoon tea makes it a daytime option too. Details: 249 West 49th Street, Theater District. Select Times Square on the reservations page, and leave a cushion between your table and curtain.

Tavern on the Green
Central Park, W 67th St, New York, NY 10023, USA
This one's here for the reader whose ideal Christmas day includes a walk in the park and a handsome place to land afterward. The decorated courtyard and holiday tree have been part of recent seasons, and the bar room and bar menu run all day, so you can stop in for a drink and a bite without a full dinner commitment. Details: West 67th Street and Central Park West. Holiday reservations by phone, 212-877-8684. Table requests aren't guaranteed; dress is smart casual.
Holiday Pop-Up Bars and Seasonal Experiences
From Christmas cocktail takeovers to rinkside drinks and a full cabaret. Dates announced so far are included, along with where to book.

Miracle on 9th Street at The Cabinet
649 E 9th St, New York, NY 10009, USA
If your mental image of a Christmas bar is a temporary world of kitsch, playful drinks, and ridiculous glassware, Miracle is where that started. It's the pick when the pop-up itself is the main event, and the drinks are a real reason to go: this year's announcement includes returning favorites like the Christmapolitan and Snowball Old-Fashioned, new recipes, and an expanded nonalcoholic list. Details: The Cabinet, 649 East 9th Street, East Village. 2026 edition opens November 6. Book through Miracle's directory and check the fee, seating window, and cancellation terms for your date.

Miracle at Someday
364 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA
Someday is the Miracle to pick when the plan needs dinner as well as a festive cocktail. The regular menu runs burgers, wings, nachos, and vegetarian options, which gives a group more flexibility than a drinks-only stop. Confirmed on the 2026 Miracle list, with local dates still to come. Details: 364 Atlantic Avenue, Boerum Hill. Use the table-booking page, or the large-party inquiry route for a group, and confirm your date falls inside the takeover.

Miracle at Vacations
48 Cypress Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237, USA
Vacations gives Miracle a second Brooklyn home, and it's handy if the group is already heading to Bushwick: make this the festive stop and build dinner around it rather than trekking back to the East Village. The bar-and-rooftop setup feels different from the flagship. Confirmed for 2026; local dates still to come. Details: 48 Cypress Avenue, Bushwick. If the rooftop is the draw, look for a clear note on which spaces your booking includes.

Loreley Beer Garden
7 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002, USA
Loreley gives you several ways to make a holiday night work: indoor room, heated outdoor garden, food, and a drinks list that doesn't force anyone into a novelty mug. The garden is the point of difference. Heaters help, but it's still outdoors in winter, so bring a coat. Details: 7 Rivington Street, Lower East Side. Winter Wonderland advertised for early November 2026. For a bigger party, check the garden or private-event terms, including any minimum spend.

The Lodge at Bryant Park
42nd Street and, 6th Ave, New York, NY 10018, USA
The Lodge is the easy add to a day you've already planned. It's an open-air food hall overlooking the rink, with two full bars, so you can grab food and a drink while the skating and Winter Village provide the scenery. Good when the group wants different things or a sit-down reservation feels like too much. Not the spot for a secluded cocktail date. Details: Northeast corner of the rink deck, Bryant Park. Listed October 28, 2026 through February 28, 2027; check the Lodge page for vendors, menus, and holiday hours.
Santa's Secret
62 Thomas St, New York, NY 10013, USA
This is the pick when the group wants a whole evening of entertainment, not a bar stop. You move through holiday installations into a speakeasy-style room with a live band and cabaret, burlesque included. Treat it as a show with drinks, not a bar with a show. Great for a birthday, a date, or friends who'd enjoy a playful adult Christmas. Details: 62 Thomas Street, Tribeca. Runs November 13 through December 30, 2026. Tickets from $75, online only; food and drinks extra. About two hours, 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.

The Snowglobe at The View
1535 Broadway, New York, NY 10036, USA
The revolving lounge above Broadway is the experience here, and the Snowglobe adds seasonal cocktails and decorations to it. A strong pick for a celebratory date or a special add-on to a theater night, when sitting down together matters more than hitting the next bar. Details: New York Marriott Marquis, 1535 Broadway, Theater District. The lounge and the restaurant are booked separately; confirm the Snowglobe dates on the booking page for your night.
Neighborhood Pubs and Beer Halls in Brooklyn and Queens
Local spots with documented holiday decorations and a real following. 2026 decorating plans are still to come.

Skinflints
7902 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209, USA
Skinflints gives a Brooklyn lights trip a proper start or finish. It's known locally for Christmas decorations, and the burgers and pub food are what you want after an hour outside. It's in Bay Ridge, not in the Dyker Heights display blocks, so plan the lights and dinner as two separate legs. Details: 7902 Fifth Avenue, Bay Ridge. Check kitchen hours before building the evening around it.

Radegast Hall & Biergarten
113 N 3rd St, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA
Communal tables, beer, food, live music. Recent holiday coverage has shown the tree and decorations, but the beer-hall energy is the reason to pick it. Nobody has to order a novelty cocktail; everyone just needs a seat at the table. Details: 113 North 3rd Street, Williamsburg. No cover. Reservations only for groups of 25 or more; smaller groups take their chances. Check the current age policy if you're bringing kids in the evening.

Jack Jones Gastropub
38-01 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria, NY 11105, USA
Jack Jones pairs Christmas decorations and festive drinks with the things that make a good local pub: food, a solid whiskey list, and a reason to stay. Astoria locals recommend it for the decorations as much as the room. Pick it if you live nearby or want a pub night away from the Manhattan crowds. Details: 38-01 Ditmars Boulevard, Astoria. Phone reservations for lunch and dinner; book around a meal if you want a seated evening.
Three Seasonal Favorites Waiting on 2026 Plans
These delivered some of the city's best holiday nights in recent seasons. As of late October none had announced a Christmas 2026 edition. Keep them on the shortlist.

Jingle Jangle at The Dead Rabbit
30 Water St, New York, NY 10004, USA
The Dead Rabbit comes up repeatedly in local holiday-bar threads for the combination of drinks, food, and atmosphere, which gives Jingle Jangle a reason to visit beyond the styling. Past editions layered an exuberant holiday look over the Irish bar. Expect lively nights; it's a celebratory pick, not a quiet one. Details: 30 Water Street, Financial District. 2026 edition not announced as of October 18; watch the site for dates and reservations.

Snowday in Brooklyn at Sunday in Brooklyn
348 Wythe Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA
In past editions, Snowday turned Sunday in Brooklyn's dinner service into a winter night of decorations, blankets, food, and seasonal cocktails. It's the holiday takeover with the structure of a restaurant reservation, which is exactly what some people want. The 2025 menu had hot, frozen, and spirit-forward cocktails plus several zero-proof options. Details: 348 Wythe Avenue, Williamsburg. 2026 dates not announced as of October 18; follow the Snowday page for dinner reservations.

Grinchy's at Roberta's
261 Moore St, Brooklyn, NY 11206, USA
Grinchy's is the scruffier, funnier take on Christmas. The last edition turned Roberta's covered, heated tiki-bar space into a holiday hangout with themed cocktails and its own snack menu. Pizza at Roberta's is the obvious dinner pairing, but the pop-up has had its own menu, so treat them as two stops. Details: 261 Moore Street, Bushwick. 2026 run not announced as of October 18; follow Roberta's site.
A Few More Holiday Pop-Ups to Keep an Eye On

- Mariah Carey's Holiday Bar: fan-focused, photo-heavy, themed cocktails. Follow the official site for the next NYC edition.
- Gnomeo's at Romeo's: playful East Village makeover. Check Romeo's.

- Magic Hour's holiday rooftop: high-energy group night near Times Square. Check Magic Hour's page.
- Santa's Winter Wonderland at Watermark: waterfront photo ops at Pier 15. Watch the official event site.
- Blitzen's at Omni Berkshire Place: hotel-bar holiday concept. Check Omni's campaign for confirmed locations.
How to Turn the List Into a Good Night Out
Pick one main reservation and at most one flexible second stop. The big Christmas rooms reward having time to enjoy them, and a long checklist turns the night into coat checks and subway transfers.
A classic Union Square and Gramercy evening. Walk Union Square, then Pete's for a tavern dinner or Lillie's Union Square for the extravagant room. Want another stop? Molly's or Paddy Maguire's on Third Avenue. If Rolf's is the reason you're going, make it the priority and keep the second stop loose.
Broadway with a festive drink. Lillie's Times Square for dinner and decorations near the theaters; The View for a lounge reservation with a skyline. Put curtain time in first, then work backward for dinner or forward for a post-show drink.
A Brooklyn night with one holiday destination. Williamsburg: Snowday once bookings open, or Radegast for a beer hall. Bushwick: dinner plus Miracle at Vacations, or Grinchy's if Roberta's is already on the list. Bay Ridge: Skinflints before or after the Dyker Heights lights, with time budgeted for the trip between. Stick to one neighborhood; the Brooklyn entries aren't neighbors.
A full evening, no bar-hopping. Santa's Secret when the show is the event, or Jingle Jangle at The Dead Rabbit (once announced) for a Lower Manhattan night built around food and drinks.
Booking and budget, briefly. Book the part of the night you care about most first, and read the page for the actual date you're selecting: Christmas pop-ups sell dining tables, timed lounge sessions, admission tickets, and group packages under similar-looking buttons. Before paying, check for an admission fee, a minimum spend, the time allowed at the table, and what's actually included. A ticketed show and a neighborhood pub will land at very different totals. Weeknights and earlier seatings beat Friday and Saturday at the biggest names.
