What to Know About Happy Hour in NYC

Timing. The standard window is weekdays from 4 or 5pm to 7pm. The best deals often end at 6, so a 5:45 arrival gets you one round. Bars that open at noon or 2pm usually start the deal when the doors open.

Where you sit matters. Plenty of deals only apply at the bar or in one room. On this list that includes Double Knot (upstairs lounge), Bobo (the den), Fraunces Tavern (two of its bars) and Marina Cafe (the inside bar).

Oyster fine print. Minimums of four or six are common, Crown Alley and Bar Belly cap you at 12, and L'Accolade's run until they sell out.

Prices move. We found several bars where widely quoted deals were out of date. If a specific price is why you're going, check the bar's own menu that day.
