Villa Pizzo, Lake Como: Wedding Cost & Capacity (2026)

Villa Pizzo is the venue couples picture when they say "Lake Como wedding" and mean a private villa rather than a hotel: cypress alleys, stone staircases, a garden that runs the length of the shoreline between Cernobbio and Moltrasio, and the Darsena, a two-level stone dock that sits right on the water. It has been a private estate since 1435 and still feels like one. You rent the whole property for the day, bring in your own caterer and planner, and nobody else is on the grounds.

The trade-off is that it is only the grounds. There are no bedrooms, no kitchen and no in-house event team, so the venue fee is the start of the budget rather than most of it. This guide walks through the 2026 rate card, what gets added on top, and who the villa suits.

Villa Pizzo is the rare luxury venue that publishes a rate card, and the rate card is reasonable. €30,000 to €40,000 for exclusive use of one of the most photographed estates on the lake is not cheap, but it is in line with Villa Erba next door and a fraction of what the full-buyout villas charge. The catch is everything else. Because the villa provides nothing beyond the grounds, every plate, chair, light and boat is a separate line, and a 100-guest wedding here lands in the same total range as a hotel wedding where the venue fee looked much higher.

Where Pizzo earns the money is the setting and the exclusivity. The gardens do the decorating, the Darsena is a ceremony spot nothing on the lake quite matches, and you are not sharing the property with hotel guests. Couples who want their guests under one roof should look at Villa d'Este or Grand Hotel Tremezzo instead. Couples who want a private villa and are happy to run the wedding with a planner will find Pizzo hard to beat.

The venue fee buys exclusive use of the villa, gardens, terraces and lakefront for the wedding day. It does not include catering, rentals, production or planning, and it is quoted without VAT.

Two things to keep straight when comparing quotes. The rental is one of the few on the lake that is genuinely VAT-free, so a Pizzo figure is already a final number while most competitors' figures need 22% added. And the Darsena rule cuts the other way: a 70-guest wedding that wants the dock ceremony pays €10,000 more than the headline suggests.

These are planning ranges for a one-day wedding at the villa, before guest accommodation, travel and planner fees. They assume Lake Como pricing for catering, florals and production.

Rentals are the line couples underestimate at Pizzo. The villa supplies the setting, not the furniture, so tables, chairs, linens, lighting and kitchen equipment for the caterer all come in by truck or boat.

The estate runs along the lake, so a wedding here moves through a series of spaces rather than happening in one.

Most couples hold the ceremony on the Darsena, walk the garden to cocktails, dine outdoors on the terraces and move inside or under a marquee for dancing.

Pizzo has one of the better indoor fallbacks among the private villas: four connected halls that take up to 120 seated. For weddings above that number, a marquee is the answer, and it should be in the budget from the start rather than booked in a panic the week before. The halls are not heated, which matters more than it sounds for April and October dates. Ask your planner what the heating options are and price them before you commit to a shoulder-season date.

There are no bedrooms at Villa Pizzo, so the wedding party and guests stay in Cernobbio, Como or across the lake and come in by car or boat. That is an extra logistics layer but it also lets guests pick their own price point.

Boat transfers from the Cernobbio or Como piers are the memorable way to arrive and worth the cost for at least the ceremony arrival.

Villa Pizzo has no kitchen, so catering comes from the villa's approved external caterers, who bring everything in. Menus from the caterers working at Pizzo run around €180 to €220 per guest for the wedding dinner, before VAT and before drinks. Working from an approved list simplifies logistics and limits how much you can negotiate, so get two proposals early.

Everything else is yours to source: florist, photographer, band or DJ, lighting, rentals and a planner, which at a venue with no in-house coordination is not optional. Outdoor music has an evening cut-off and the party then moves indoors; have the venue put the exact hours in the contract along with the charge for any extension.

The Darsena is the ceremony Pizzo is known for, and the gardens offer quieter alternatives. These are symbolic ceremonies. If you want the legal marriage to happen on the lake, your planner will confirm whether a civil officer can perform it at the villa or whether you do the legal part at the Cernobbio or Como town hall first and hold the ceremony at Pizzo. Non-Italian couples need a Nulla Osta from their consulate, an Atto Notorio and certified translations; allow 60 to 90 days and let the planner handle the filings.

Guests arriving from the far side of the lake, Bellagio or Tremezzina, should come by boat; the road around the western shore is slow.

May, June and September are the sweet spot: warm, long evenings and the gardens at their fullest. July and August are hot and busy on the lake. April and October are quieter and sometimes cheaper for vendors, but the unheated halls make rain riskier.

Best for: couples who want a private villa rather than a hotel, weddings of 80 to 160 guests, ceremonies on the water, and a day built around the gardens.
