Villa d’Este Wedding Cost: Pricing, Capacity & Everything to Know

Villa d’Este is one of the most iconic wedding venues on Lake Como—and its pricing reflects that.

Set directly on the lake in Cernobbio, the historic palace hotel combines formal Italian gardens, the famous Mosaic Garden, lakefront terraces, five-star hospitality, and the infrastructure of a full luxury hotel.

But how much does a Villa d’Este wedding cost?

We reviewed an official Villa d’Este proposal dated May 7, 2026 for a 50–60 person wedding on August 25, 2028. In that proposal, the wedding is tied to exclusive use of the 27-room Queen’s Pavilion for two nights at €80,000 per night, or €160,000 total in accommodation alone.

Once ceremony, reception, afterparty, and catering are added, the known Villa d’Este costs already exceed €220,000 before open bar, florals, photography, entertainment, production, planning, and other outside vendors.

Here’s what couples should know about Villa d’Este wedding pricing, accommodation requirements, event spaces, catering, music restrictions, and total cost before booking.

For the 2028 wedding proposal we reviewed, Villa d’Este quoted the following:

Required Queen’s Pavilion Accommodation

€80,000 per night for 27 rooms

The proposal requires exclusive use of the Queen’s Pavilion for two nights:

2 nights = €160,000

The €80,000 nightly rate includes breakfast, service, and 10% VAT. City tax is additional and had not yet been established for 2028 when the proposal was issued.

Importantly, Villa d’Este specifies that the room allotment and wedding food-and-beverage proposal are linked and cannot be accepted separately.

A symbolic wedding ceremony in the Mosaic Garden is quoted at:

€22,000 VAT included

The setup includes gold and red Chiavari chairs and a table for the celebrant.

Carpet, additional services, and the celebrant are extra.

Use of the Platani Terrace for cocktails and Grill Restaurant Terrace for dinner is quoted at:

€15,000 VAT included

In case of bad weather, dinner moves inside the Grill Restaurant and adjacent Artusi Room, which together have a maximum capacity of approximately 150 guests.

The proposal uses 2025 menu pricing beginning at:

The wedding proposal requires exclusive use of 27 rooms in the Queen’s Pavilion for two nights.

The hotel states that the accommodation proposal acts as collateral to the event and food-and-beverage function, and the two proposals cannot be accepted separately.

That requirement is one of the biggest factors driving the total cost of a Villa d’Este wedding.

A civil ceremony must take place at the town hall.

Following the ceremony, the proposal moves guests to the Platani Terrace for cocktails overlooking Lake Como.

Dinner then takes place on the Grill Restaurant Terrace, with either round tables or an imperial table.

Combined rental for these reception spaces is:

If weather prevents outdoor dining, dinner moves into the Grill Restaurant and neighboring Artusi Room.

The stated indoor capacity is up to approximately 150 guests.

Outdoor wedding music has relatively strict rules.

Acoustic music in the banqueting areas must:

• End by 11:00 PM
• Remain below 80 decibels
• Not include drums

After 11:00 PM, the wedding can move indoors to the Regina Room.

The Regina Room can remain open until:

This is one of Villa d’Este’s advantages over smaller Lake Como villas: there is significant indoor event infrastructure already on the property.

the hotel has a list of exclusive vendors.

That means couples should ask for the approved supplier list early in the planning process.

This can materially affect both creative flexibility and budget.

Music and entertainment are also subject to Italian SIAE and LEA royalties, which are the client’s responsibility.

Photography is obviously possible as part of the wedding, but the hotel states that photoshoots and drone use require prior written approval.

Couples planning drone footage or a separate editorial-style shoot should clear this with Villa d’Este in advance.

The most important thing to understand about Villa d’Este pricing is that the ceremony rental isn't what makes the wedding expensive.

It's the entire package structure.

For the 50–60 guest wedding proposal we reviewed, the couple is committing to €160,000 of accommodation before the ceremony even begins.

Then comes €22,000 for the Mosaic Garden, €15,000 for the reception spaces, €6,000 for the Regina afterparty room, catering beginning at €360 per guest, and any open bar or outside production.

That makes Villa d’Este one of those venues where a smaller guest list does not necessarily mean a small wedding budget.

For couples with the budget, however, the combination of the Mosaic Garden, Lake Como views, palace-hotel service, accommodations, and late-night reception infrastructure creates an experience that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.
