Villa Lario Resort Wedding Cost: Prices & Capacity

Villa Lario Resort is the modern one. On the eastern shore of Lake Como at Mandello del Lario, across the water from Bellagio, it is a contemporary lakefront resort rather than a frescoed villa: a terrace and pool above the lake, nine suites, a private dock, an in-house kitchen and an events team that runs weddings all summer. It suits couples who love the lake and want clean lines and a hotel's competence rather than a palazzo's formality.

The pricing is unusually complete. Exclusive use of the resort for the wedding day is €10,000 plus VAT midweek or €11,000 at the weekend, and the contract then requires the nine suites for two nights, the resort's catering for at least 70 adults, an unlimited wine package, a professional open bar and internal coordination. Add those up and a 100-guest wedding lands around €65,000 to €70,000 plus VAT before flowers or a photographer. Above 110 guests a marquee comes into the picture; the resort takes up to about 160 with one.

Villa Lario is what you choose when you want Lake Como without the gilt. The terrace over the water does the ceremony and the dinner, the dock gives the couple the boat moment after the vows, the kitchen is the resort's own, and the nine suites put the family on site. Everything that would be a separate contract at a private villa, catering, wine, bar, a coordinator, is in the resort's structure, which is why the venue fee looks modest and why it is not the price of the wedding.

The size to aim for is 70 to 110. Below 70 the catering minimum applies anyway; above about 110 the reception hall and veranda are full, the marquee at €9,700 plus VAT arrives with setup and breakdown days that carry their own exclusivity fees, and the budget changes shape. A welcome dinner or farewell brunch costs another €5,650 a day for the property before food, so a three-event weekend here is a deliberate choice rather than a free extension of the wedding day. Nine suites also mean most guests sleep in Mandello, Varenna or Bellagio and arrive by road or boat.

Weddings run from 70 to about 160. The resort's own spaces carry a wedding to roughly 110 seated; beyond that the marquee on the grounds adds covered capacity.

Better than most of the lake, because the resort has a real indoor hall. Up to about 110 guests the reception hall and veranda take dinner and dancing under cover. Above that the marquee is the rain plan and the fair-weather plan at once, which is why the resort treats it as a requirement rather than an option at that size. Ask to see the Plan B layout for your exact guest count before signing, and ask whether the marquee changes the view from the terrace.

Nine suites, all in the contract for two nights: the couple, parents and the wedding party. Everyone else stays in Mandello del Lario, in Varenna up the shore, or across the water in Bellagio, with the resort's dock turning the lake into the shuttle.

The resort caters: menus at €218 to €240 plus VAT per adult, the unlimited wine package at €27 and the open bar are all its own, and the €2,150 internal coordinator runs the resort side of the day. A planner for design, vendors and transport is still yours to hire. Florist, photographer, band and production are your choice. Confirm the open bar's hours and which spirits are in it, and whether boats are arranged through the resort or booked separately.

Ask for the music rules in writing, outdoor and indoor, and the end time for both the wedding and any additional event day; this is a residential shore and the resort will have a cut-off.

Ceremonies on the terrace are symbolic, framed by the lake. For a legal civil marriage, the Comune di Mandello del Lario performs ceremonies in its own rooms; ask the resort whether the terrace is authorised for your date. Non-Italian couples need a Nulla Osta, an Atto Notorio and certified translations; allow 60 to 90 days.

Mandello has its own station on the Lecco line, which helps independent guests; on the wedding night it is shuttles to Varenna and boats to Bellagio. Confirm what size coach can reach the resort.

June and September, with the lake at its calmest for the dock and the terrace in full use. April and October drop the suite rate to €6,040 a night and are quieter on the shore, with more rain and a stronger case for the hall. July and August are hot and Bellagio is full.
