Boston does Christmas bars a few different ways. There's the full pop-up, with ornaments overhead and a drink in a ridiculous mug. There's the old hotel bar that's covered itself in tinsel. And there's the neighborhood bar where the twinkle lights never really come down.

For the classic Christmas cocktail lounge, start with Miracle at Marlowe in East Cambridge. Mystic Station in Malden is the all-in Christmas pub with a full dinner menu, and Sippin' Santa at Shore Leave is the tropical take. New this year, Mariah Carey's Holiday Bar gives the Seaport one more reason to stay out after Snowport.

The guide covers Boston plus Cambridge, Malden and Everett, with two trips farther out. It's organized by area, and the table shows which places have 2026 dates and which are still to announce.

Seaport, South End and South Boston Christmas Bars

The Seaport is the easiest place in Boston to build a whole holiday afternoon: browse Snowport, then head somewhere warmer for the evening. The South End pairs well with the SoWa Christmas Market (550 Harrison Avenue, November 20–December 27; $10, kids 12 and under free; closed Mondays). Every market in the area is in our Boston Christmas markets guide.

The holiday bars at Snowport

The holiday bars at Snowport

65 Northern Ave, Boston, MA 02210, USA

Snowport's four bars sit right in the middle of the holiday market: the Jingle Bar, the Hanukkah-themed Dizzy Dreidel, Betty's Bar and the Blizzard Bar. Grab something warm, browse the stalls, eat, and let the afternoon run. It's all outdoors, so treat it as the first stop rather than the whole night. Details: November 6–December 27 (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day). General entry is free. Weekend fast passes are $15 for adults and $7 for veterans and ages 6–17, and don't include drinks. The market closes at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Après at Deck 12

Après at Deck 12

65 Seaport Blvd #12, Boston, MA 02210, USA

Deck 12 is for people who'd rather have a ski-lodge mood and a skyline than Santa on every surface. The heated roof deck gets ski-themed chairs and a winter menu, so settle in with the $33 cheese fondue and a Love Me S'mores, a hot chocolate cocktail with Irish cream and a torched marshmallow. Details: Opens November 13. Reserve through Deck 12. It's outdoors even with the heaters, so dress for it.

Mariah Carey's Holiday Bar at Tuscan Kitchen

Mariah Carey's Holiday Bar at Tuscan Kitchen

64 Seaport Blvd, Boston, MA 02210, USA

The Queen of Christmas's pop-up makes its Boston debut this year, with Mariah-inspired decor, photo setups, merch and holiday cocktails made with her Black Irish cream liqueur. It's the obvious pick for the group chat that starts playing "All I Want for Christmas Is You" in early November. Details: Opens November 19. Join the Boston waitlist for tickets. Each reservation is a 90-minute slot with limited, first-come seating, and weekends have brunch reservations. Dinner at Tuscan Kitchen is a separate booking.

Sippin' Santa at Shore Leave

Sippin' Santa at Shore Leave

11 William E Mullins Way, Boston, MA 02118, USA

Sippin' Santa gives Christmas a tropical turn. Lights and colorful decorations fill Shore Leave's basement bar, and the rum drinks come in playful holiday glassware. It's a fun date, and an even better night with a few friends who care about the mugs as much as the drinks. Dinner is different this season: Phaeng & Phiu, chef Veo Robert's Laotian pop-up, is in residence through December 31. Details: November 24–December 31. Reserve on OpenTable through Shore Leave. It's regularly open Tuesday–Saturday, and the door is behind the CVS.

The Jingle Bar

The Jingle Bar

107 Porter St, Boston, MA 02128, USA

The Jingle Bar fills Pazza on Porter in East Boston with tinsel, trees and presents, then adds hosted Christmas games, a best-dressed contest and nonstop holiday hits. Wednesdays are carol nights, Saturdays have a family session with crafts and kids' karaoke, and Santa comes to brunch on December 20. Details: Starts December 3. Tickets are nonrefundable, though you can transfer sessions for a fee. Regular sessions are 21+, and a reserved seat is a paid add-on.

Delux Cafe

Delux Cafe

100 Chandler St, Boston, MA 02116, USA

At Delux the Christmas lights stay up all year, strung among records and memorabilia in a small, eclectic room. There's nothing to wait for and nothing to book. Come with a date or a couple of friends, order something to eat and settle in. It's too small for a big group. Details: Year-round. Bring cash.

Publico

Publico

11 Dorchester St, Boston, MA 02127, USA

Last Christmas, Publico filled its garden with greenery, a big tree and a winter-market lineup of seasonal food and drinks. The retractable roof keeps it comfortable, and it's one of the better places on this list to sit down with a group and stay put. Details: Awaiting 2026 news. The 2026 holiday theme isn't out yet. When you book, ask for the garden and choose between a table and a couch.

Winter Wonder Lounge at Earls Prudential

Winter Wonder Lounge at Earls Prudential

800 Boylston St #107, Boston, MA 02199, USA

Earls turns its semi-enclosed rooftop patio into a pop-up with twinkly lights and its own cocktail list. The full restaurant menu makes it a practical choice for a mixed group, where one person wants holiday atmosphere and another wants actual dinner. Details: November 6–January 3, 2027. Book "The Winter Wonder Lounge" experience on OpenTable, which takes up to 12 people. Wear layers, since the patio is only partly enclosed.

Holly Jolly at West End Johnnie's

Holly Jolly at West End Johnnie's

138 Portland St, Boston, MA 02114, USA

Bucket Listers' ticketed pop-up moves to West End Johnnie's this year, with floor-to-ceiling decorations and a holiday menu that runs from the Espres-snow Martini to a Santa's Spritz mocktail. A set time makes it handy before or after a game at the Garden. Details: November 12–December 27. Tickets are listed from $20 and cover a 90-minute slot with a welcome cocktail or mocktail. Check the age policy for your session.

The Greatest Bar

The Greatest Bar

262 Friend St, Boston, MA 02114, USA

The Greatest Winter Wonderland pop-up is the starting point for the Holiday Passport, a self-guided afternoon through the West End, Boston Public Market and the North End. Pick up your tote, donut and cider in the Nutcracker Suite from noon, then finish at West End Johnnie's. Details: November 21. The passport is $40 and runs noon–4 p.m. The pop-up's full schedule is still to come.

Blitzen's at The Last Hurrah

Blitzen's at The Last Hurrah

60 School St, Boston, MA 02108, USA

Blitzen's covers The Last Hurrah in ornaments and tinsel, which suits a bar that's already all leather and mahogany. This year's menu has eight signature cocktails and two zero-proof options. If you'd like something moodier, the hotel's Dickens-inspired Ebenezer's is at Parker's Bar this season. Details: Opens November 27. It's close to the Common and an easy meeting point downtown. Check the hotel's holiday page for special-date hours.

Liberty Lobby Bar

Liberty Lobby Bar

215 Charles St, Boston, MA 02114, USA

The Liberty hangs Christmas trees upside down from the tall rotunda of the former Charles Street Jail, and in past seasons it's been the most dramatic holiday room in Boston. Have a drink before dinner, meet friends after a Beacon Hill walk, or let one cocktail turn into the night. Details: Awaiting 2026 news. Go early in the evening for conversation, since the weekend crowd arrives later. If the trees are the reason you're going, wait for this year's installation.

Lily's Bar Pizza Patio

Lily's Bar Pizza Patio

33 Batterymarch St, Boston, MA 02110, USA

Lily's is the low-maintenance version of a festive night: pizza, drinks and, in past seasons, big Christmas decorations. It's an easy downtown call when the group wants something more casual than a hotel lounge. Details: Awaiting 2026 news. This year's setup hasn't been announced, so check before you go for the decorations.

Stratus Winter Oasis at View Boston

Stratus Winter Oasis at View Boston

800 Boylston St Fl 52, Boston, MA 02199, USA

Stratus dresses its 51st-floor bar in glittering icicles and sparkling lights, with seasonal cocktails and small bites to match. Go when the view matters as much as the drink. Details: Awaiting 2026 dates. You'll need a View Boston ticket, and seating is first-come. The winter setup usually starts in November.

OAK Long Bar + Kitchen

OAK Long Bar + Kitchen

138 St James Ave, Boston, MA 02116, USA

The long copper bar and grand Fairmont setting make OAK a natural place to end a Back Bay evening. Come for a dressed-up drink or a proper dinner, with the hotel's holiday atmosphere as the bonus. Details: Awaiting 2026 decor dates. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dining is its own booking, so reserve that service specifically.

Naughty List Lounge at The 88 Club

Naughty List Lounge at The 88 Club

50 Dalton St, Boston, MA 02115, USA

The Naughty List Lounge puts Christmas decorations and holiday cocktails on top of The 88 Club's live piano and audience requests. This is the one for friends who actually want to sing. Come ready to shout a request and join a chorus, because the room gets louder as the night goes on. Details: Awaiting 2026 news. 21+. The holiday schedule hasn't been announced yet.

Santa's Cantina at Loco Fenway

Santa's Cantina at Loco Fenway

61 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215, USA

In past seasons Loco has turned its whole Fenway dining room into Santa's Cantina, with ornaments everywhere and a holiday cocktail list next to the tacos. It's busy, lively and built for a group dinner that runs long. Details: Awaiting 2026 news. The Christmas setup is at the Fenway location, so book that one. The 2026 dates and holiday menu are still to come.

The Lansdowne Pub

The Lansdowne Pub

9 Lansdowne St, Boston, MA 02215, USA

The Lansdowne has turned into a holiday lodge in past seasons, with live music on top. It's the one to watch for a loud, festive pub night near Fenway. Details: Awaiting 2026 news. The music calendar sets the night, so check it and any entry rules before you go.

Christmas Bars in Cambridge and Beyond

The guide's top pick is in East Cambridge, and two of the most fun holiday bars around Boston sit just north of the city. Make any of these your main stop rather than a detour, including the longer drives to Newburyport and Weymouth.

Miracle at Kimpton Marlowe

Miracle at Kimpton Marlowe

25 Edwin H Land Blvd, Cambridge, MA 02141, USA

Ornaments hang from the ceiling, garland and lights cover everything, a six-foot Santa stands guard and a marble fireplace keeps the room warm. If you want one bar that simply feels like Christmas, this is it. The menu mixes Miracle classics like the Snowball Old-Fashioned with new drinks, plus alcohol-free options like Ginger Bell Rock and Tinsel & Tart, and Bambara sends out light bites if you stay for another round. Details: November 20–December 31 (closed Thanksgiving). Walk-in only, 21+. Arrive near opening Thursday through Saturday. Hours are Sunday–Wednesday 5–10 p.m., Thursday–Friday 5–11 p.m. and Saturday 4–11 p.m.

Miracle at Mystic Station

Miracle at Mystic Station

139 Pleasant St, Malden, MA 02148, USA

Mystic Station goes all in on its Miracle makeover, but underneath it's still a family-run neighborhood restaurant with real food, beer and cocktails. That makes it the easiest Christmas bar on this list for a mixed group: one friend wants the holiday drink, one wants a beer, and everyone needs dinner. Wednesday through Sunday bring the full menu, while Monday and Tuesday are 21+ cocktail nights with snacks. Details: November 20–December 31. Reservations for 2–6 cost $10 per person and don't come off the bill; otherwise, join the in-person waitlist. All ages are welcome Wednesday–Sunday until 9 p.m., but reservations after 7:30 p.m. must be all 21+. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, and closes at 8:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Whoville at Park-9 Dog Bar

Whoville at Park-9 Dog Bar

48 Waters Ave #1, Everett, MA 02149, USA

Park-9 turns into Whoville for the season, with themed decor, holiday drinks and a room full of dogs. Bring yours, or just come to hang out around everyone else's. Pizza from the in-house Lala's kitchen means you can stay a while, and the calendar includes a holiday market on November 21, Santa photos on December 5 and an ugly-sweater party on December 12. Details: November 16–December 30 (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Entry is free without a dog. Dog day passes are $12 Monday–Thursday and $15 Friday–Sunday; register your dog ahead. Kids are welcome with supervision, but under-12s can't go into the off-leash park.

Miracle at The Goat

Miracle at The Goat

54 Merrimac St, Newburyport, MA 01950, USA

The Goat gives Newburyport the full Miracle treatment, with a Christmas takeover, specialty cocktails and a photo booth. Combine it with an afternoon in town for an easy North Shore holiday outing. Details: Returning; exact 2026 dates to come. Entry is free and first-come, with no reservations. It runs from mid-November to mid-January, so confirm it's open before you drive up.

The Venetian

The Venetian

909 Broad St, Weymouth, MA 02189, USA

The Venetian hangs thousands of ornaments over its dining room, with greenery and lights on every side. Make dinner the plan here: homemade pasta and a holiday cocktail under all that sparkle is the whole appeal. Details: Returning for a fourth year. Tables go fast, so check OpenTable now and turn on notifications if your date is full.

Wusong Road

Wusong Road

112 Mt Auburn St, Cambridge, MA 02138, USA

Wusong Road's Wonderland takeover paired tropical holiday drinks with the restaurant's Asian American food last season. If it returns, it's a strong Cambridge pick for dinner and a playful cocktail in one stop. Details: Awaiting 2026 news. The 2026 run isn't confirmed, so check before you book for the decorations.

Tips for Planning a Boston Christmas Bar Night

  • Give the night one main stop. Book, or arrive early for, the place you care about most, then add a nearby dinner, market or walk. Chaining several busy pop-ups rarely works.
  • Go early for dates and conversation. Opening time or a weeknight is the easiest way to see the decorations and get a seat. Save the louder, later rooms for nights when noise is the point.
  • Know what you're booking. A pop-up ticket, a dinner table and an observatory ticket are different reservations. Book the one that actually puts you in the room you want.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best Christmas bar in Boston?
Miracle at Marlowe is our pick for the classic Christmas cocktail pop-up. Mystic Station is the best all-in Christmas pub with dinner, and Sippin' Santa at Shore Leave is the tropical option. Downtown, Blitzen's and the Liberty's upside-down trees are the standout hotel settings.
When do Boston's Christmas bars open in 2026?
Earls and Snowport open November 6, Holly Jolly November 12, Deck 12 November 13 and Park-9's Whoville November 16. Mariah Carey's Holiday Bar follows on November 19, both Boston-area Miracles on November 20, Sippin' Santa on November 24 and Blitzen's on November 27. The Jingle Bar starts December 3.
Do I need reservations or tickets?
It depends on the place. Miracle at Marlowe is walk-in only. Mariah's bar, Holly Jolly and the Jingle Bar are ticketed. Earls needs the named Winter Wonder Lounge booking, Shore Leave and Deck 12 take reservations, and Mystic Station has limited paid reservations plus an in-person waitlist.
Which holiday bars work for kids or non-drinkers?
Snowport is the easiest daytime family outing, and the Jingle Bar has Saturday family sessions. Park-9 welcomes supervised children, and Mystic Station is all ages Wednesday–Sunday until 9 p.m. For non-drinkers, Marlowe, Blitzen's and Holly Jolly all have alcohol-free drinks, but Marlowe and The 88 Club are still 21+.
Which are best for a group?
Earls' Winter Wonder Lounge takes bookings up to 12, and Publico and Loco are good sit-down options. For a bigger private party, Miracle at Marlowe can host up to 45. Mystic Station asks groups to stay small, ideally four or fewer. For more options any time of year, see our best Boston bars for large groups.
Are any open on Christmas Day or after?
Snowport, SoWa, Mystic Station and Park-9 are closed on Christmas Day, and a pop-up's season dates don't guarantee it's open December 25, so check before you go. After Christmas, Earls runs into January, both Miracles and Sippin' Santa run through December 31, Park-9 through December 30, and Snowport and Holly Jolly through December 27.
Is there a Hanukkah bar in Boston?
Maccabee Bar, Boston's Hanukkah pop-up, has confirmed it's returning but hasn't named its 2026 host or dates. Until it does, Snowport's Dizzy Dreidel is the Hanukkah-themed stop.
