These are the Boston restaurants that go all out for Christmas: a steakhouse staircase wrapped in greenery and red bows, a courtyard turned into a winter garden, a hotel rotunda where the trees hang upside down. Every pick is a place to sit down for a real meal, so the decorations come with dinner, brunch or a holiday tea.
The guide covers Boston and Cambridge, plus three restaurants in Weymouth, Malden and Lexington that are worth their own trip. For the classic, book Grill 23. For the biggest spectacle, head to The Venetian.
Planning for Christmas 2026: This guide covers festive meals through the season, not every restaurant open on December 25. The table shows what's dated for 2026, and restaurants without dates are long-running holiday favorites. Last checked November 2026.

Boston Restaurants Dressed for Christmas
Wreaths, garlands, trees and warm lights fill these rooms, and each one already suits a long winter meal. At the three hotel restaurants, the setting is part of the outing, so arrive a little early.

Grill 23 & Bar
161 Berkeley St, Boston, MA 02116, USA
Grill 23's grand staircase is the centerpiece here, strung with greenery, white lights and big red bows. Wreaths and trees fill both floors, so the whole steakhouse feels dressed up. It's the classic pick when you want to put on something nice and make the meal the event. Holiday lunch is the best daytime look at the room, with the à la carte menu plus a lobster roll and the Grill 23 burger. Details: Back Bay. Holiday lunch runs Dec. 8–11, 15–18 and 21–23, 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Dinner runs nightly, and there's a children's menu on request.

Prima
10 City Square, Near TD Garden, Boston, Charlestown, MA 02129, USA
Prima fills its City Square dining room with Christmas trees, generous garlands and red ornaments, which suits a room that's already handsome. The menu gives the night an easy rhythm: mozzarella to start, house-made pasta, maybe a steak to share. It's festive without turning date night into a themed-cocktail outing, and it works just as well for a group with different appetites. Details: Charlestown. Tables open 30 days ahead at noon on Prima's own reservations page. You can request the Rose Room or Park Room, but neither is guaranteed.

The Dubliner
2 Center Plz, Boston, MA 02108, USA
The Dubliner hangs brass baubles and puts up Christmas trees in a proper Irish pub, with a full kitchen and regular live music. It's the pick for a holiday meal that's sociable rather than formal. Sunday roast is the best reason to make an afternoon of it: beef plus a rotating second roast, served from noon until it sells out. Details: Government Center. Reserve on the pub's website, and check the music schedule if you'd like a quieter meal or a livelier one.

Hunter's Kitchen & Bar
110 Dorchester St, Boston, MA 02127, USA
Hunter's Cozy Christmas Cabin hangs evergreen garlands around the bar and suspends a Christmas tree over a room that already looks like a hunting lodge. Two fireplaces and plenty of reclaimed wood do the rest. It's made for fried chicken, brisket and a table of people you know well, with no need to dress up. Details: South Boston. The cabin opened Nov. 25 last year. Book through Hunter's own site, and choose an earlier table if conversation matters, since live music can make the room loud.

OAK Long Bar + Kitchen
138 St James Ave, Boston, MA 02116, USA
The Fairmont Copley Plaza's Christmas tree and wreaths make the arrival part of the evening. From there, OAK's grand room takes over, with an 83-foot copper bar, chandeliers and an open-hearth oven. It suits dinner with visiting parents or a date after an afternoon around Back Bay, and it's one of the clearest options for the holiday itself. Details: Back Bay. A Very Copley Christmas runs Dec. 24 and 25, 4–11 p.m., at $155 per adult and $55 per child, plus tax and gratuity. Cancel within 72 hours and you pay in full. The Dec. 16 lobby dinner is a separate booking.

CLINK. at The Liberty
215 Charles St, Boston, MA 02114, USA
The Liberty's upside-down Christmas trees hang in the hotel's 90-foot rotunda, and they're one of Boston's most distinctive holiday sights. CLINK. serves seasonal New England cooking and seafood. If your group would rather eat Italian, Lydia Shire's Scampo is in the same hotel with its own reservations. Details: Beacon Hill. The trees have gone up between early and mid-November in recent years. They're in the rotunda, so a table doesn't come with a view of them. Allow time to see them before dinner.

GRANA at The Langham
250 Franklin St, Boston, MA 02110, USA
GRANA is here for the room and the feast rather than the ornaments. The grand hall of the former Federal Reserve Bank makes a daytime meal feel like something to dress up for, and the Christmas Day feast includes a choice of starter and main, family-style sides, a dessert bar and a planned visit from Santa. It's the pick for a family that would rather celebrate over a long lunch than a late dinner. Details: Financial District. The Christmas Day feast runs Dec. 25, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., at $190 per adult and $85 for ages 5–12. Book the dated Christmas Day Brunch experience. There's no regular dinner service.

Full Christmas Takeovers in Boston and Cambridge
These five transform for the season, each under its own holiday name. Book the decorated space, since the restaurant name alone doesn't always get you there.

Publico
11 Dorchester St, Boston, MA 02127, USA
Publico's Winter Market fills its garden with winter greenery, lights and a 16-foot Christmas tree, and you eat inside the display rather than walking past it. A retractable roof covers the courtyard. Burgers, pizzas, pasta and larger mains, plus a children's menu, keep a mixed group happy, and it's friendlier on the wallet than a steakhouse. Details: South Boston. The market opened Nov. 21 last year. Make sure your booking is for the garden, not the main dining room.

Loco Fenway
61 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215, USA
Santa's Cantina hangs 1,500 giant ornaments through Loco Fenway's enormous room and adds a Christmas tree made of wine bottles. It's loud, colorful and built for a group that wants dinner to feel like a party from the first round. Tacos, oysters, enchiladas and fajitas let everyone order at their own budget. Details: Fenway. It has opened in mid-November for the past two years. Book 61 Brookline Avenue, not Loco's South Boston location.

Wusong Road
112 Mt Auburn St, Cambridge, MA 02138, USA
Wusong Wonderland layers Christmas decorations and seasonal tiki mugs over a tropical room that's already packed with detail. That makes it a fun date that doesn't need to be formal. The New England Chinese American menu is built for sharing, with crab rangoons, bao and pupu platters, and it's an easy finish to an afternoon in Harvard Square. Details: Harvard Square, Cambridge. Wonderland has opened Thanksgiving week and run through January for the past two years. The ground-floor bar and tables are first come, first served. Closed Dec. 25.

Shore Leave
11 William E Mullins Way, Boston, MA 02118, USA
Sippin' Santa gives Christmas a tropical accent in Shore Leave's South End basement, with holiday lights, a beach-ready Santa and a light-up palm tree in past seasons. The cocktails get the attention, but the food is the reason it's on this list. Chef Veo Robert's Lao residency, Phaeng & Phiu, serves grilled pork sausage, seafood drunken noodles, half chicken and whole fried black bass. Details: South End. Sippin' Santa runs Nov. 24–Dec. 31. The residency's dinner menu runs Tuesday–Saturday through Dec. 31, so book one of those nights if you're coming to eat.

Earls Prudential
800 Boylston St #107, Boston, MA 02199, USA
Earls turns its semi-enclosed rooftop patio into the Winter Wonder Lounge, with twinkling lights, holiday decorations and exclusive cocktails. It's the practical way to turn a Back Bay shopping day into a festive meal, because the full menu is available and nobody has to dress up. Only the patio is decorated, and it's still a patio, so bring a warm layer. Details: Back Bay. The lounge runs through Jan. 3, 2027. Select the Winter Wonder Lounge experience when you book, not a regular indoor table.
Worth the Trip: Festive Restaurants Outside Boston
Weymouth, Malden and Lexington each have a table worth leaving the city for. Give each one its own outing rather than squeezing it between Boston plans.

The Venetian
Venetian Restaurant, 909 Broad St, Weymouth, MA 02189, USA
The Venetian hangs nearly 6,000 ornaments overhead, with greenery and lights above red leather booths, and it's the biggest Christmas spectacle in this guide. The display is already up. Italian American comfort food and house-made pasta make it a real meal rather than a photo stop, and lunch is the easy choice for a family outing. Details: Weymouth. Holiday prix fixe lunch runs through Jan. 3, 2027, at 11 a.m. or 1:15 p.m., for $50 per adult and $25 per child, plus tax and gratuity. There are no substitutions, so book dinner for the regular menu.

Mystic Station
139 Pleasant St, Malden, MA 02148, USA
Miracle gives Mystic Station a full Christmas makeover, with thousands of twinkle lights and exuberant decorations in a casual restaurant. It's the pick for maximum Christmas without a formal dinner: burgers, grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese and steak tips. Go Wednesday through Sunday for the full menu. Monday and Tuesday are 21+ with cocktails and snacks only. Details: Malden. Miracle runs Nov. 20–Dec. 31. Reservations cost an extra $10 per person and tables have a 90-minute limit, or you can join the waitlist free. Reservations after 7:30 p.m. are 21+. Closed Christmas Day.

Town Meeting Bistro
2027 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington, MA 02421, USA
Town Meeting Bistro is the gentle alternative to a busy pop-up: a New England inn with a fireplace in the dining room and a named holiday tea to build the day around. Don't expect ornaments on every surface. Pick Santa Tea if seeing Santa is the point, or the Christmas Eve Grand Dinner Buffet for one unhurried family dinner. Details: The Inn at Hastings Park, Lexington. Santa Tea runs Dec. 12–13 and Holiday Tea runs Dec. 19–20, both 10 a.m.–2 p.m. The buffet is Dec. 24, 4–8 p.m. Reserve the named event, not a regular table.
