Best Sunday Roasts in London (2026)

Run a business in this guide, or want yours added? Get in touch. Or get featured.

A Sunday roast should be more than a large plate of food. The potatoes need some crunch. The gravy should make you reach for the jug again. And the room should be somewhere you actually want to spend the afternoon.

London's best roasts come in a few forms: the straight-down-the-line beef and Yorkshire, the whole joint shared between friends, and the lunch that leaves tradition behind for piri-piri chicken or rice and peas. Start with Blacklock for an easy first roast, The Devonshire for a central pub lunch, or The Harwood Arms for a Michelin-starred one. The table below has prices and serving times for all 25, and the map shows what's near you.

Best Sunday Roasts in Central and West London

The big names in the middle of town, plus a Michelin-starred treat in Fulham and the latest roast on this list in Notting Hill.

Blacklock Soho

Blacklock Soho

24 Great Windmill St, London W1D 7LG, UK

The easy first roast. Whole joints cook over open coals and English oak, with beef-dripping Yorkshire puddings, duck-fat potatoes and as much gravy as you ask for. Order the All In, which brings beef, lamb and pork to the table together. The basement runs loud, so bring friends, not a quiet catch-up. Details: All In £28 per person, two or more. Single roasts £25–£27; cauliflower roast £18. Served 11:45am to last seating at 8pm. Some walk-in tables. No lift at Soho; Shoreditch and Canary Wharf are ground level.

The Devonshire

The Devonshire

The Devonshire, 17 Denman St, London W1D 7HW, UK

One roast, done properly: rib of beef with roast potatoes, carrots, creamed leeks, peas with onion and bacon, Yorkshire pudding and gravy, carved at the table, then sticky toffee pudding. Have a pint downstairs, but book the restaurant upstairs, because the pub is walk-in only. Details: Roast beef £33. Roast menu noon–4pm, then a la carte from 4:15pm. Bookings open Thursdays at 10:30am, three weeks ahead. Tables of 8–14 take the £60 per person feasting menu. Lift to the restaurant. No children in the pub at weekends.

The Quality Chop House

The Quality Chop House

92-94 Farringdon Rd, London EC1R 3EA, UK

The one for people who care about the starter and pudding as much as the roast. Lunch is three courses in a Victorian dining room, with roasts running from Aberdeen Angus rump and smoked brisket to Middle White loin and Cornish monkfish, all with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and bashed roots. Yes, add the confit potatoes too. Details: £59 for three courses. Confit potatoes £11; pheasant £5 extra. Served noon–3:30pm, with no Sunday dinner. Book online.

Hawksmoor Seven Dials

Hawksmoor Seven Dials

11 Langley St, London WC2H 9JG, UK

The dependable beef roast for a West End afternoon: dry-aged rump with beef-dripping potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, greens, roasted garlic and bone marrow and onion gravy. Two or more can pick a sharing cut from the blackboard and add the trimmings for £9.50. Details: Rump £29.50; sirloin £35; vegetarian Winslade Wellington £28. Roasts served noon–5pm. Book online. This branch is fully wheelchair accessible.

Fallow

Fallow

52 Haymarket, London SW1Y 4RP, UK

For a table that wants more than a roast. All four are the same price, so whoever orders the maitake mushroom gets as much of a centrepiece as whoever orders the dairy-cow rump. Start with corn ribs and mushroom parfait, then add the smoked cauliflower and broccoli cheese. Details: Rump, chicken, pork belly and maitake mushroom £32 each, with all the trimmings. Cauliflower and broccoli cheese £12. Open Sundays 11:30am–10pm. Ask for the vegan mushroom roast when you book.

The Harwood Arms

The Harwood Arms

Walham Grove, London SW6 1QJ, UK

A Michelin-starred pub with a real interest in game, and the one to book for a birthday or anniversary. Slow-cooked deer shoulder wrapped in bacon is the order, with Jersey beef sirloin if you'd rather stay familiar. Roasts are built for two to share, but the set price is per person. Start with the venison Scotch egg. Details: Two courses £64; three £79; sirloin £7.50 extra per person. Served noon–8:15pm. Book up to 90 days ahead with a card; late cancellations cost £50 per person. Largest table is eight. Vegetarian menu on request; no vegan option.

The Blue Stoops

The Blue Stoops

127-129 Kensington Church St, London W8 7LP, UK

The recognisable Sunday plate, in a Kensington pub that still cares about the food. Longhorn beef rump with horseradish is the traditional route, Somerset Saxon chicken with bread sauce the comforting one, and Old Spot porchetta with apple sauce the one for pork fans. All come with roast potatoes, seasonal greens and Yorkshire pudding. Details: Porchetta £28; chicken £29; beef £30. Opens at noon; last dining-room bookings 6:30pm, then drinks and bar food only. A few bar tables are kept for walk-ins.

The Mall Tavern

The Mall Tavern

71 Palace Gardens Terrace, London W8 4RU, UK

Come for the endless gravy. This buzzy Notting Hill pub serves chicken, beef (add bone marrow if you like), pork belly or nut Wellington, all with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, carrots and greens. It's also the latest roast on this list, for a Sunday that starts slowly. Details: Roasts £22–£26.50. Served noon–10:30pm. Book online.

The Bull & Last

The Bull & Last

168 Highgate Rd, London NW5 1QS, UK

Book online; tables of seven or more take a set menu.

The Pig and Butcher

The Pig and Butcher

80 Liverpool Rd, London N1 0QD, UK

The answer to "where can we still get a roast?" The kitchen butchers its own meat and serves until 9pm, with 45-day salt-aged Angus sirloin or Tamworth porchetta alongside Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, greens, red cabbage and honey-roasted carrots and parsnips. Details: Sirloin £29; porchetta £25; BBQ courgette with vegan gravy £21. Lamb shoulder for two £56; côte de boeuf for two £95. Served 11:30am–9pm. Book online.

The Drapers Arms

The Drapers Arms

44 Barnsbury St, London N1 1ER, UK

Book this one to share. A whole roast chicken or a seven-hour lamb shoulder gives the table something to gather around, and both come with bread sauce. Going solo? The rare 48-day aged sirloin comes with Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Tell the pub when you book if a sharing roast is why you're going, because demand runs high. Details: Pork belly £24; sirloin £28.50; chicken for two or three £55; lamb shoulder for two £62. Menu changes daily. Book online.

The Parakeet

The Parakeet

256 Kentish Town Rd, London NW5 2AA, UK

Everything here is cooked over flame, so order the hay-smoked chicken before you default to beef. It comes with Flourish Farm greens, roast potatoes, root vegetables, carrot and swede mash and Yorkshire pudding. A good pick for a date, with cauliflower cheese on the side. Details: Hay-smoked chicken and pork belly £26.50; roast beef £28.50; squash and mushroom Wellington £21; ex-dairy sirloin to share £110. Dining room noon–7pm. Book online, up to eight.

The Golden Tooth

The Golden Tooth

79 Green Lanes, Newington Green, London N16 9BU, UK

For friends who want to talk about what they're ordering. Details: Meat roasts £26–£34; vegetable roast £22. Cuts change with the seasons. Kitchen noon–7pm. Book online, with a separate link for seven or more.

Ling Ling's at Godet

Ling Ling's at Godet

382 Essex Rd, London N1 3PF, UK

The Chinese-inspired roast at a natural wine pub on Essex Road. Choose five-spice pork belly, beef short rib, five-spice seabass, glass skin chicken or miso aubergine, all with roast potatoes, seasonal veg, a sesame Yorkshire pudding, nori mustard and miso gravy. It's familiar enough for a traditionalist, and nothing like any other plate on this list. Details: Roasts £25–£30. Served 1–5pm. Book online.

The Marksman

The Marksman

254 Hackney Rd, London E2 7SB, UK

The warmth of a pub with the structure of a restaurant meal. Sunday is a set menu, built around the day's roasts and sharing dishes, so commit to all three courses. The brown butter and honey tart is the pudding to save room for. Details: Two courses £42; three courses £48. Kitchen midday–4pm and 6–9pm. Book online; parties of nine or more should contact the pub about the family-style Sunday menu.

The Macbeth

The Macbeth

70 Hoxton St, London N1 6LP, UK

A Hoxton pub with a Portuguese and northern Spanish menu, and a Sunday lunch to match. Order the chicken: half or whole, with rice, potatoes and house-made piri-piri sauce. Purists can have roast beef with all the trimmings, and the sharing fish pie is there for anyone who'd like neither. Details: Half chicken £27; roast beef £28. Kitchen 1–5pm. Book online.

The Spread Eagle

The Spread Eagle

224 Homerton High St, London E9 6AS, UK

London's first fully vegan pub, so nobody at the table has to ask what's in the gravy. Choose beet Wellington, walnut and cashew nut roast, or slow-roast celeriac with crackling, all with roast potatoes, greens, carrots, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Finish with the sticky toffee pudding. Details: Beet Wellington and nut roast £20; celeriac £19. Kitchen noon–8pm. Book online; email or call for six or more. Under-18s welcome until 9pm with an adult. Flag any allergies when you book.

Best Sunday Roasts in South London

The deepest part of this list, from Michelin-level cooking in Camberwell to a £16 roast in Nunhead.

The Camberwell Arms

The Camberwell Arms

65 Camberwell Church St, London SE5 8TR, UK

Order for the middle of the table. Roasts come to share with roast potatoes: Saddleback porchetta with braised red cabbage, half a Sladesdown Farm chicken, slow-cooked Romney lamb, or a beef, ale and bone marrow pie. Start with the scotch bonnet pork fat on toast. There's no Yorkshire pudding on the menu, so this one's for a birthday with friends, not a purist. Details: Porchetta £28 for one, £54 to share; half chicken £23 or £45; pie £45; lamb £59; onglet £60. Vegetarian mains £19–£20. Menu changes daily. Served 1–5pm. Book online.

The Kerfield Arms

The Kerfield Arms

16 Grove Ln, London SE5 8SY, UK

The newer of London's two Michelin-starred pubs, around the corner from The Camberwell Arms. It won its star in February 2026, less than a year after opening, and it still feels like a pub: half the space is for drinks, so start with a pint before moving through to the bright corner dining room. It comes from the team behind The Baring in Islington. Details: Check the current menu for cuts and prices. Open Sundays noon–6pm. Book ahead.

The Canton Arms

The Canton Arms

177 S Lambeth Rd, London SW8 1XP, UK

Go with four friends and order the Salt Marsh lamb shoulder. It feeds five and comes with potato and olive oil gratin and greens, so don't expect roasties or Yorkshire puddings. It sells out, so book early and eat early. Smaller tables can order from the daily menu instead. Details: Mains from £24; lamb shoulder for five £145. Kitchen noon–3:45pm, with no Sunday dinner. Book online; email for 10 or more.

The Anchor & Hope

The Anchor & Hope

36 The Cut, London SE1 8LP, UK

Sunday here follows the kitchen, so the menu moves between game, slow-cooked lamb, pies and suckling pig, and not every main comes with a Yorkshire pudding. It's the roast to book before an afternoon on the South Bank, with enough time to do it properly. Details: Roast venison £33.80; seven-hour lamb shoulder for two £80; suckling pig for three £110. Sunday lunch noon–3:15pm. Bookings open 30 days ahead.

Elm at The Montpelier

Elm at The Montpelier

43 Choumert Rd, London SE15 4AR, UK

The kitchen at this Peckham pub comes from Mike Bagnall of Auguste, and it's one of the sharpest roasts south of the river. Iron Age pork loin, aged beef rump, quarter Somerset Saxon chicken or a wild mushroom and celeriac pithivier all come with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots, greens and gravy. Start with a bloody mary oyster. Details: Roasts around £20–£27. Kitchen noon–5pm. Book online. The pithivier is vegan, so ask about the trimmings if you need the full plate to be too.

Buster Mantis

Buster Mantis

3-4 Resolution Way, London SE8 4NT, UK

Neither a traditional Jamaican Sunday lunch nor a British one, and that's the point. Rice and peas sit alongside roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and gravy in this Deptford railway arch. Go for the lamb, then add plantain. Details: Chicken £22.50 (the stuffing contains pork); pork belly £24; lamb £24.50; vegan stuffed pepper £20.50, without a Yorkshire pudding. Children's portions 40% off. Served 1:30–6pm. Book online, up to eight.

The Old Nun's Head

The Old Nun's Head

15 Nunhead Grn, London SE15 3QQ, UK

The best-value roast on this list, in a queer pub with a Britney Spears shrine behind the bar. Fit Roasts does rolled lamb shoulder, rolled pork belly, quarter chicken and topside of beef, plus veggie and vegan haggis, all with roast potatoes, maple carrots, parsnip puree, cauliflower cheese, greens and Yorkshires. Details: Roasts from £16. Served noon–6pm or until they sell out. Book ahead.

The Selkirk

The Selkirk

60 Selkirk Rd, London SW17 0ES, UK

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Sunday roast in London?
Blacklock is our first pick for an easy, generous roast. For a pub lunch in the centre, choose The Devonshire. For a special occasion, book The Quality Chop House or one of London's two Michelin-starred pubs, The Harwood Arms in Fulham and The Kerfield Arms in Camberwell.
How much does a Sunday roast cost in London?
Most individual roasts here cost £25–£35 before drinks and service. The Old Nun's Head starts at £16, The Spread Eagle's vegan roasts are £19–£20, and Blacklock's cauliflower roast is £18. Set menus cost more: £42 at The Marksman, £59 at The Quality Chop House and £64 at The Harwood Arms.
When should you book a Sunday roast in London?
Book as soon as your plans are set, and aim for 12:30–2pm, when every menu is open. The Devonshire releases tables on Thursdays at 10:30am, three weeks ahead, The Harwood Arms takes bookings up to 90 days out and The Anchor & Hope 30 days. Blacklock and The Blue Stoops keep some tables for walk-ins. Several roasts end early, including The Anchor & Hope at 3:15pm and The Devonshire at 4pm. For an evening roast, The Mall Tavern serves until 10:30pm and The Pig and Butcher until 9pm.
Where can vegans and vegetarians get a Sunday roast in London?
The Spread Eagle is fully vegan. Buster Mantis, Fallow, Elm and The Old Nun's Head all have vegan options, and The Pig and Butcher serves BBQ courgette with vegan gravy. For vegetarians, try Blacklock's cauliflower roast, Hawksmoor's Winslade Wellington or Ling Ling's miso aubergine. A vegan main doesn't always mean vegan trimmings, so ask when you book. The Harwood Arms can't cater for vegans.
Which Sunday roasts work best for groups?
The Canton Arms' lamb shoulder feeds five, while The Drapers Arms and The Camberwell Arms are built for sharing. The Devonshire offers a £60 per person feasting menu for 8–14, and The Marksman serves its Sunday menu family-style for nine or more. The Harwood Arms, The Parakeet and Buster Mantis stop at eight. For drinks with a big group, see our guide to the best London bars for large groups.
Which Sunday roasts have step-free access?
Hawksmoor Seven Dials is fully wheelchair accessible. The Devonshire has step-free access to the pub and a lift to the restaurant and accessible toilet. Blacklock Soho has no lift, but its Shoreditch and Canary Wharf branches are ground level.
