Thanksgiving in DC can be a cozy dinner in an old inn, a table of dishes passed around a Shaw dining room, or a hotel brunch that turns the whole afternoon into an occasion. The right call depends on what you want the day to feel like, how much you want to spend, and whether everyone at the table actually wants turkey.

If you want the short answer: Unconventional Diner for a relaxed meal where the table can order differently, Nina May for a family-style dinner, and Blue Duck Tavern for a splurge. The Willard and the Hay-Adams bring the grand-hotel setting. And there's plenty of good food well under hotel-buffet money, from complete holiday menus around $50 to restaurants where you can simply order a turkey plate.

This guide covers dine-in options inside Washington, DC. Every restaurant below has posted a Thanksgiving offering for this year. If you'd rather eat at home, our DC Thanksgiving takeout and catering guide covers that.

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, 2026. Last updated October 2026. Holiday menus and availability can change, so book early.

Thanksgiving restaurants in Washington, DC at a glance

Prices are per adult unless a dish is labeled as an entree. Drinks, tax, tips, service charges and extras are additional unless stated. A turkey entree is not the same thing as a complete holiday menu, so don't compare the two as if the inclusions matched.

Relaxed Thanksgiving meals in DC with flexible ordering

These are the restaurants where Thanksgiving doesn't have to be a production. Some run a full holiday menu at a friendly price; others keep the regular menu open and add a turkey plate, so one person can have the classic dinner while someone else orders a burger or a bowl of pasta.

Unconventional Diner

Unconventional Diner

1207 9th St NW, Washington, DC 20001, USA

Our first recommendation for a Thanksgiving that's easy to enjoy. The $55 holiday dinner covers turkey and the trimmings, and a separate a la carte menu (miso salmon, cheeseburger, meatloaf, the vegan Tip-Top Chop salad) means the whole table doesn't have to order the same thing. Details: 11 a.m.–8 p.m. $55 adults, $28 children 12 and under. A 20% service charge is added, so figure $66 before tax; no additional tip expected.

Founding Farmers

Founding Farmers

1924 Pennsylvania Ave NW #3607, Washington, DC 20006, USA

The lowest-priced complete Thanksgiving menu on this list: bread and spreads, a starter, a main, sides and dessert for $49.95. Turkey, ham, fried chicken, fish, salmon or a vegetarian veggie loaf; prime rib is $8 more. Three DC locations serve it: the Pennsylvania Avenue original near the White House, Fishers & Bakers on the Georgetown waterfront (3000 K St NW), and Farmers & Distillers at 600 Massachusetts Ave NW near the Convention Center. Details: 11 a.m.–8 p.m. $49.95 adults, $24.95 children 12 and under. 5% operational surcharge (removable on request); 22% gratuity for parties of 8+. Regular menus not offered.

Rosselli

Rosselli

1199 H St NW, Washington, DC 20005, USA

The move if you like the idea of Thanksgiving dinner but want to order at your own pace. A $36 turkey roulade (king oyster mushroom and prosciutto, potato puree, green bean casserole, smoked cranberry) sits alongside the regular Italian menu, with a $44 brisket special and $14 pecan pie. Details: Noon–8 p.m. Turkey contains prosciutto; holiday dishes served without substitutions. 20% gratuity for parties of 10+.

Opaline Bar & Brasserie

Opaline Bar & Brasserie

806 15th St NW, Washington, DC 20005, USA

A hotel Thanksgiving at an accessible price. At the Sofitel near Lafayette Square, choose a $38 plated turkey dinner or a $65-per-person family-style meal that needs at least two guests. Details: Noon–8 p.m. $38 plated turkey; $65 family-style (two-person minimum). Check the plated option's inclusions if you plan to add starters or dessert.

The Smith, Penn Quarter

The Smith, Penn Quarter

901 F St NW, Washington, DC 20004, USA

A good compromise when everyone wants Thanksgiving to feel like Thanksgiving but nobody wants to agree on a main. The $68 three-course menu includes shared sides and offers turkey three ways (roasted breast, pot pie, leg osso buco) plus salmon, short rib and butternut squash risotto. Details: Noon–9 p.m. $68 three courses. Mac and cheese, arancini and raw bar are optional extras.

RPM Italian

RPM Italian

650 K St NW, Washington, DC 20001, USA

Thanksgiving with pasta on the table. The full Italian menu stays open, and a $43 oven-roasted turkey special comes with whipped potatoes, herb gravy and cranberry sauce; add fall pear salad ($15), squash tortelli ($24), green beans ($14) or pumpkin cheesecake ($15). Details: Noon–8 p.m. $43 turkey entree; extras priced separately. 3% surcharge, removable on request.

Family-style Thanksgiving dinners, inns and set menus in DC

These are the places to go when the meal itself is the event: a shared menu that keeps the dishes coming, a dining room with real history, or a feast with carving stations that doesn't cost grand-hotel money.

Nina May

Nina May

1337 11th St NW, Washington, DC 20001, USA

Our pick for a shared Thanksgiving table. The $75 Chef's Choice menu is served family style: oysters Rockefeller, squash and Taleggio agnolotti, roasted rockfish, sage-and-orange-brined turkey breast with fried thigh, Hasselback sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts with bacon, then pumpkin pie and carrot cake. Teddy & The Bully Bar

Teddy & The Bully Bar

1200 19th St NW, Washington, DC 20036, USA

For the person who thinks the sides matter as much as the turkey. A first course and dessert come to the table; carving stations (turkey, prime rib, salmon) and side stations (mac and cheese, stuffing, creamed spinach, sweet potato casserole) handle the rest. Details: Reservations 11:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m. $76 adults, $39 children 12 and under. 4.25% restaurant relief charge (about $79 before tax); 22% gratuity for parties of 5+. DC restaurants still waiting on 2026 Thanksgiving details

A few DC restaurants that have served Thanksgiving in past years haven't posted this year's menu, hours, or prices as of our last update. We'll add them above once the details are confirmed. Until then, check directly with the restaurant rather than assuming last year's offer stands.

  • Old Ebbitt Grill (Downtown) has long been one of the city's busiest Thanksgiving dining rooms. Its holiday page still carries an older menu file; 2026 pricing not yet posted.
  • 1789 (Georgetown) usually runs a classic three-course Thanksgiving in its Federal-era townhouse. No 2026 holiday menu posted yet.
  • Le Diplomate (14th Street) has in past years kept its regular menu plus a holiday special. 2026 plans not yet announced.
  • The Hamilton (Downtown) has served Thanksgiving dinner in previous years. No 2026 details yet.
  • Succotash Prime (Penn Quarter) is a frequent local recommendation for a Southern-leaning holiday meal. No dated 2026 Thanksgiving menu for the DC location at our last check.
  • Fairmont Washington, DC and Degrees Bistro (both Georgetown) have November 26, 2026 events listed, but pricing wasn't published when we checked.

How to choose your Thanksgiving table in DC

Pick the format first. A fixed-price dinner, a family-style menu, and a buffet make for different afternoons. Rosselli, RPM Italian, Joe's, and Unconventional Diner let the table order differently. Nina May is built for sharing. The Willard and Top of the Hay are built for a full buffet afternoon.

Compare the total, not the headline. Service charges change the math. Unconventional Diner adds 20%, Blue Duck Tavern adds 20% gratuity plus 10% tax, and the Willard adds a 25% service charge plus tax. Wherever a charge is posted we've shown the before-tax total in the entry. Read the checkout screen before you confirm.

Match the seating to the day you want. Morrison-Clark ends at 5 p.m., the Willard has set brunch seatings, and The Pembroke doesn't start until 4 p.m. If your first-choice time is gone, an earlier lunch or later dinner often opens things up.

Book for the actual party, children included. Age cutoffs vary: CUT is 10 and under, Blue Duck is under 12, and several others are 12 and under. Give the restaurant the kids' ages and mention highchairs or access needs when you book.

Settle dietary needs before you commit. Holiday menus are less flexible than the regular dinner menu. For vegan meals, allergies, or no-pork tables, ask about the whole meal before paying for a prepaid booking.

A quick neighborhood shortcut

Staying downtown? Start with Rosselli, Opaline, Joe's, Equinox, Barbouzard, the Willard, or Top of the Hay. Around Dupont Circle, look at Tabard Inn, Teddy, and The Pembroke. Georgetown has the waterfront Founding Farmers, CUT, Seasons, and Bourbon Steak. Unconventional Diner, Nina May, Morrison-Clark, RPM Italian, and Farmers & Distillers cluster around Shaw and Mount Vernon Square.

Frequently asked questions

When is Thanksgiving in Washington, DC in 2026?
Thursday, November 26, 2026. Everything in this guide refers to that day.
Which restaurant is best for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in DC?
Start with Unconventional Diner for a relaxed turkey dinner, Nina May for a shared family-style meal, or Blue Duck Tavern for a special occasion. The Willard is the strongest pick for a big holiday buffet.
What time do DC restaurants open on Thanksgiving?
Most of the restaurants here open between 11 a.m. and noon and close between 8 and 9 p.m. The exceptions matter: Morrison-Clark stops at 5 p.m., The Pembroke starts at 4 p.m., Equinox seats from 1 p.m., and the Willard runs set brunch seatings between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Where can I have Thanksgiving dinner in DC without spending hotel-buffet money?
Founding Farmers offers a complete holiday menu for $49.95 before its 5% surcharge. Unconventional Diner is $55 before its 20% service charge. Rosselli's $36 turkey entree and Opaline's $38 turkey plate are cheaper ways to get a holiday main, but they're single plates, not multi-course menus.
Where can some guests order turkey and others order something else?
Unconventional Diner, Rosselli, Joe's, and RPM Italian keep their regular menus open alongside the holiday dishes. The Smith works too within a set-price menu, with three turkey preparations, short rib, salmon, and risotto among the mains.
Are there vegetarian or vegan Thanksgiving options in DC?
Equinox is the standout: its Thanksgiving menu is built around plant-based cooking alongside the traditional dishes. Elsewhere, Founding Farmers has a vegetarian veggie loaf, The Smith has butternut squash risotto, Morrison-Clark has cacio e pepe ravioli, Unconventional Diner's a la carte menu includes the vegan Tip-Top Chop salad, and the Willard lists a vegan sweet potato shepherd's pie. Vegetarian dishes may contain dairy or eggs, so vegan diners should ask about the full meal, sides and dessert included.
Which DC restaurants work best for a large family on Thanksgiving?
Teddy & The Bully Bar for its carving and side stations, the Willard for sheer variety and a children's station, and Tabard Inn for its buffet reserved for groups of six or more. Founding Farmers gives families three DC locations and the lowest-priced holiday menu.
Can I go alone or just book a table for two?
Yes, and it doesn't need to be a production. Unconventional Diner, Rosselli, and Joe's let you order a la carte, and Tabard Inn specifically welcomes parties of one to five with a la carte reservations. Opaline's family-style dinner starts at two guests. Book for your actual party size rather than counting on a holiday walk-in.
Do I need a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner in DC?
Make one as soon as you've settled on the restaurant and your group size. Several of these meals are prepaid, and a restaurant being open doesn't mean every seating is still available. Choose the Thanksgiving event where the booking site offers one, and read the cancellation terms before you confirm.
