Some nights call for a cheeseburger and fries. Others end with a deli sandwich at 2 a.m., pierogi after a show, or fried chicken and biscuits when it's technically already Sunday. Nashville has good answers to all of those, but they're rarely on the same block. Start with Dino's for the classic burger stop, Duke's for sandwiches deep into the night, and Monell's for a Saturday-night breakfast worth planning around.
This guide covers the places we'd seek out for the food, plus a few dependable fallbacks for when the night runs much later than planned. One thing to know up front: a bar that closes at 2 a.m. doesn't necessarily serve food until 2 a.m. So the guide is grouped by when the kitchen actually stops, with the neighborhood on every entry, and you can skip the walk to a grill that's already shut down.

Food After 2 A.M. in Nashville
These kitchens keep cooking after most bars have stopped serving food, from 3 a.m. deli sandwiches to 5 a.m. pizza and an all-night diner. Several only stay this late on weekends, so check the night before you count on one.

Duke's
1000 Main St, Nashville, TN 37206
Not every late-night meal needs to come out of a fryer. Duke's makes the case for a real deli sandwich instead, on locally baked bread with serious fillings, served long after most kitchens have closed. Mixed groups do well here too: there are vegetarian and vegan options, and BE-Hive seitan can stand in for the meat in any sandwich. Details: Deli serves noon to 3 a.m. every day.

Dino's
411 Gallatin Ave, Nashville, TN 37206
Dino's is our first stop when the ask is simply a good burger. Get the cheeseburger and fries, then decide whether the fries need the Animal Style treatment with cheese, grilled onions and special sauce. Order at the bar and keep it simple. Details: Bar open until 3 a.m. daily; get food orders in by about 2:30. 21+ after 8 p.m. No phone-in to-go orders.

Monell's
1235 6th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
Monell's Midnight Country Breakfast is the most distinctive late-night meal in town. You sit down to a family-style spread of skillet-fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, eggs, pancakes and breakfast meats. Come hungry and treat it as the destination, not the afterthought. Details: Saturday night only, 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday, at the original Germantown location. Adults $19 before tax and tip.

Mel's Drive-In
152 2nd Ave N, Nashville, TN 37201
Sometimes the right answer is a booth, a milkshake and breakfast at an unreasonable hour. Mel's does all-day breakfast, smashburgers and diner comfort food in a retro room just off Broadway, and it keeps a group together instead of splitting into separate takeout runs. Vinyl Vault, a hi-fi listening bar, sits in the back. Details: Open all night Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, then until 10 p.m. Sunday. Closes at 10 p.m. Monday–Wednesday.

Daddy's Dogs, Printers Alley
205 Printers Alley, Nashville, TN 37201
When nobody wants another sit-down stop, Daddy's Dogs is the answer. The Music City comes with bacon, cheddar, onion and barbecue sauce; the Big Daddy adds cream cheese, bacon, pickle, grilled onion, jalapeño and house sauce. Pick one and head home. Details: Until 2 a.m. Sunday–Wednesday, 3 a.m. Thursday and 3:30 a.m. Friday–Saturday.

Velvet Taco, Midtown
1911 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203
Velvet Taco is a chain, but its weekend hours are hard to beat. The menu runs from spicy tikka chicken and chicken and waffle to beer-battered cauliflower and Nashville hot tofu. Order a few tacos rather than counting on one to be a meal. Details: Until 4 a.m. Friday–Saturday, 2 a.m. Thursday and midnight Sunday–Wednesday.

Velvet Taco, East Nashville
301 Gallatin Ave, Nashville, TN 37206
The East Nashville Velvet Taco, near Five Points, has the same inventive tacos as Midtown: spicy tikka chicken, chicken and waffle, beer-battered cauliflower and Nashville hot tofu. It matches Midtown's 4 a.m. close on weekends but shuts earlier the rest of the week. Details: Until 4 a.m. Friday–Saturday, 11 p.m. Sunday–Thursday.

Sicilian Pizza & Pasta, Downtown
327 Union St, Nashville, TN 37201
Sicilian is the downtown fallback for pizza, calzones and something more filling than a snack. Pickup and delivery make it an easy call if you're heading back to a hotel or apartment. Details: Until 5 a.m. daily; not open 24 hours.

Till Five Pizza, Murfreesboro Pike
825 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37217
Till Five fills a narrow but real need: you still need dinner, and most of the city has stopped cooking. Pizza is the natural order, with calzones, pasta and wings as backups. Details: Open 10 a.m. to 5 a.m. daily.
Till Five Pizza, Music Valley
2450 Music Valley Dr, Nashville, TN 37214
The Music Valley Till Five covers the Opryland side of town with the same very-late pizza, calzones, pasta and wings for pickup or delivery. Details: Open 3 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily.

Waffle House, Donelson Pike
556 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214
Not a discovery, but when the right meal is eggs, hash browns and a waffle at any hour, it's hard to argue with. This branch is handy if you're staying near the airport. Details: Open 24 hours, every day.

Food Until 1 or 2 A.M. in Nashville
Real meals, mostly at bars, that run well past dinner but stop before closing time. Get your order in before 1 a.m. and you're covered at all of them on a Friday or Saturday.

Lakeside Lounge
921 Woodland St, Nashville, TN 37206
The draw here is Veselka, the East Village pierogi institution, which picked Lakeside for its first kitchen outside New York. Share a plate of pierogi (potato and cheese, braised beef, or arugula and goat cheese), or let the Lakeside smashburger anchor the table. It works when half the group wants bar food and the other half wants something different. Details: Kitchen until 2 a.m. daily, bar until 3. Soup stops at midnight; all-ages hours end at 5 p.m.

Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint
1123 3rd Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
Jack Brown's is for when a plain cheeseburger won't cut it. The Greg Brady piles on mac and cheese, American cheese and barbecue potato chips; the Cobra Kai brings cream cheese, pickled jalapeños and jalapeño jelly. The menu's short, which helps when nobody wants to spend twenty minutes deciding. Details: Open until 2 a.m. daily. Takeout: call ahead Monday–Wednesday; order in person Thursday–Sunday.

Mother's Ruin
1239 6th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
Mother's Ruin gives food and drinks equal billing. The smashburger and Old Bay waffle fries are the easy start, but wings, tacos, a crispy chicken sandwich and a falafel burger give a hungry group room to spread out. It feels like part of the night, not a pit stop. Details: Food until 1:30 a.m. daily, bar until 2. Walk-in only; patio closes at 11 p.m.

Schulman's Neighborhood Bar
1201 Porter Rd, Nashville, TN 37206
Schulman's is the move for a late meal that doesn't involve a trip across the river. A cheeseburger, a pastrami sandwich or something fried for the table all fit, and dinner can easily turn into one more drink. Details: Last call for food 1:30 a.m. nightly; bar closes at 2. 21+.

The Diner
200 3rd Ave S, Nashville, TN 37201
The Diner wins on convenience and range. A big American and Southern comfort-food menu settles things when a group can't agree, and it's a proper sit-down meal when you'd rather not eat a slice on the sidewalk. Details: Until 2 a.m. Friday–Saturday, 11 p.m. Sunday–Thursday. Not 24/7; the menu changes through the evening.

Five Points Pizza, Gulch Slice Window
920 Division St, Nashville, TN 37203
On Friday and Saturday nights, the Gulch slice window is the Five Points to know. Walk up, pick cheese, pepperoni or the rotating vegetable slice, add garlic knots if you need them and keep moving. It's a window, not the sit-down experience at Five Points' restaurants. Details: Until 1 a.m. Friday–Saturday, 10 p.m. other nights. These are the Gulch window's hours; the East and West Nashville restaurants keep their own.

Midnight Oil, The Nations
1310 51st Ave N, Nashville, TN 37209
Midnight Oil serves New York-style pizza by the slice every hour it's open, which makes it the easiest late order on the west side. The Nations is the original, in a former service station. Grab a slice or two rather than waiting on a whole pie. Details: Until 2 a.m. Friday–Saturday, midnight Tuesday–Thursday, 11 p.m. Sunday–Monday.

Midnight Oil, Donelson
2606 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37214
The Donelson Midnight Oil does the same New York-style slices as the Nations original and saves east-siders a trip back downtown. Slices are on offer every hour it's open. Details: Until 1 a.m. Friday–Saturday and midnight Thursday; earlier other nights.
Late Dinners Until Midnight in Nashville
Plan these as a late dinner, not a 2 a.m. rescue. Most stop serving by midnight, earlier on weeknights, and Robert's grill keeps its own hours.
If hot chicken is the whole point, our Nashville hot chicken guide covers the originals and what to order at each. For food inside a honky-tonk rather than near one, see our Broadway honky-tonks and bars guide.

Teddy's Tavern
104 Rep. John Lewis Way S, Nashville, TN 37203
Teddy's sits across the street from Bridgestone Arena, which makes it the easy meal after a concert or a Predators game. Cheeseburgers, fried chicken sandwiches and pretzels with beer cheese all hit the spot, as long as you beat the kitchen's cutoff. Details: Kitchen until midnight Thursday–Saturday; bar until 1 a.m. Other nights the whole place closes at 11 p.m.

Two Boots
1925 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203
Two Boots settles the pizza-or-hot-chicken debate. The Kitty, its Nashville-only pie, puts Hattie B's hot chicken and jalapeños on a white pizza with blue cheese, with pickles on the side. Details: Until midnight Friday–Saturday, 9 p.m. other nights.

Hattie B's, Midtown
112 19th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
When hot chicken is non-negotiable and it's not yet midnight, Hattie B's is the straightforward call. The heat scale works for people chasing serious spice and for those who just want good fried chicken. Go before last call, not after. Details: Until midnight Friday–Saturday, 10 p.m. other nights.

Dicey's Pizza & Tavern
425 Chestnut St, Nashville, TN 37203
Dicey's does thin, Chicago tavern-style pizza cut into small squares, so it's built for ordering a few pies and passing them around. It's a sit-and-stay spot for a group that wants to keep hanging out. Details: Open until midnight daily, so plan on a late dinner rather than an after-midnight arrival.

Bastion's Big Bar
434 Houston St Ste 110, Nashville, TN 37203
This is Bastion's Big Bar, not its reservation-only tasting-menu restaurant, and the food menu comes down to one thing: nachos. Come for cocktails and one big plate to share. Details: Nachos until 11 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and midnight Friday–Saturday; bar stays open an hour later. Walk-in only, 21+.

Robert's Western World
416 Broadway # B, Nashville, TN 37203
Robert's is the Broadway food stop for staying inside a honky-tonk rather than just near one. The fried bologna sandwich is the order, and the Recession Special is the cheap way to get it. You're here for simple food with the band, not a big menu. Details: Bar until 3 a.m., but the grill can close well before that; ask about food when you walk in.
