The best holiday skate in Atlanta isn't always the closest one. Some rinks are built for a whole evening of lights, dinner and people-watching. Others give you more time on the ice, a better family price or a backup plan when the weather turns.
Our first choice for a classic city outing is Skate the Station. Head to Park Tavern for a festive date, Skate City Springs for beginners and Skate Conyers when ice time matters more than the setting. We've also included north-metro favorites, indoor rinks and two day trips.
Planning for winter 2026–27: Most seasonal rinks open between November 13 and 28. A season's dates don't mean a rink is open every day, so check the calendar for yours. Prices are per skater and don't include taxes, service fees or parking unless we say so. Where a rink hasn't posted this season's details, we've labeled last season's. Last checked November 2026.

The Best Ice Skating Rinks in Atlanta, Ranked
We ranked these eight on the whole outing: the setting, the real cost with rentals, what's nearby and how easily a skate becomes a good winter evening.

1. Skate the Station
1381 Market St NW, Atlanta, GA 30363, USA
This is the rink we'd pick for a first holiday skate in Atlanta. You're in the middle of Atlantic Station, with shops and restaurants close enough to turn a few laps into a whole evening. There's no child rate, so families pay more here. Book a late-afternoon slot, then stay for dinner as the district lights up. Details: Sessions are 75 minutes, with timed tickets sold online. Deck parking is free for two hours, or take the free MARTA shuttle from Arts Center. Under-18s need a parent or guardian after 3 p.m., and no one under 21 can stay after 9 p.m.

2. Park Tavern
500 10th St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309, USA
Park Tavern is the pick when skating is only the start of the night. Miracle on 10th Street pairs a rink under a heated tent with a decked-out Christmas bar on the edge of Piedmont Park. The rink is small, so it's more about atmosphere than long laps. For a date, go on a weeknight after 8:30, when skating is 16+ only, then finish at the bar. Details: It's $15 Monday–Thursday and $20 Friday–Sunday until 8 p.m. The rink is open rain or shine, and you'll need a signed waiver each visit. The free RSVP doesn't cover skating, and the lot next door is paid.

3. Skate City Springs
1 Galambos Wy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, USA
City Springs gets a family skate right: a one-hour session, a clear kids' rate and free Skate Helpers for wobbly beginners. It sits on City Green in Sandy Springs, and every night at 6 p.m. turns into Glow Night. Bring beginners Monday–Thursday, when it's cheaper, then finish with a hot cocoa. Details: Kids ages 2–9 are $12 Monday–Thursday and $15 Friday–Sunday. Book a timed session online and arrive 10–15 minutes early. If you're walking up, call (404) 890–6690 first. Tickets are nonrefundable.

4. Avalon on Ice
2200 Avalon Blvd, Alpharetta, GA 30009, USA
Avalon is the easy answer to "What do we do after skating?" The Rockefeller-inspired rink sits on The Plaza, so you can shop before your session, book dinner after it or split up if not everyone wants to skate. Book skating first and dinner second, with time to return your skates in between. Details: Sessions are 75 minutes, and kids 12 and under are $14. Book ahead, since walk-ups aren't guaranteed. Tickets can't be refunded, but you can reschedule if there's space.

5. Skate the Sky
675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA
For a skate that could only be in Atlanta, go up to the roof of Ponce City Market. The rink looks out over the skyline from about ten stories up, which makes it our pick for visitors and special dates. Bringing a small group? Book a rink-side igloo, which seats up to six and includes admission, skates and unlimited skating. Details: Skating returns this winter, with dates and prices to come. Last season, kids 12 and under were $22, skaters had to be at least 5 and under-12s needed an adult. Regular Roof admission doesn't include skating.

6. Skate Conyers
949 main St, Conyers, GA 30012, USA
Conyers is the rink to choose when you want more time on the ice for less. Your two hours start when you arrive, so nobody's rushing to make a session, and the real-ice rink is two-thirds covered by the Olde Town pavilion. Go early with young beginners, then leave time for a walk through Olde Town. Details: Kids 7 and under are $13, no reservations are needed and parking is free. Skate helpers are for beginners 42 inches or shorter and aren't available after 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

7. The Ice Rink at Sugar Hill
5039 W Broad St NE, Sugar Hill, GA 30518, USA
Sugar Hill is the one to pick for a skate with a downtown outing attached, especially in northern Gwinnett. The covered rink sits behind City Hall next to The Bowl. It has the longest season of the metro rinks, and it's open on both Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Keep it local with dinner downtown. Details: Kids 8 and under are $15 with rentals. Most Mondays and Wednesdays are closed outside school breaks, and Tuesdays vary, so call first. Thanksgiving is 4–10 p.m. and Christmas Day is 1–10 p.m.

8. Rink on the River
225 Reformation Pkwy, Canton, GA 30114, USA
Canton's appeal is that you don't have to skate in one tight block. Admission is good all day, with same-day re-entry on your wristband, so you can stop for food and come back for more. It's a covered rink at The Mill on Etowah, with Reformation Brewery nearby for anyone sitting out. Arrive in the afternoon, take a food break, then go back for a second skate. Details: Closed most Mondays, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for skaters under 16, even if they're only dropping off.

More Holiday Rinks Around Atlanta
These sit outside the ranking, but each suits a specific kind of day: a new neighborhood rink, a full winter park, a short festival run or a trip out of town.

Skate the Plaza at Medley
11650 Johns Creek Pkwy, Johns Creek, GA 30097, USA
Medley's new open-air rink gives Johns Creek its own skate-and-dinner outing, with The Plaza's restaurants right beside the ice. It's new, so we've left it unranked for now. Go on a Monday for the $15 rate, then stay for dinner. Details: Sessions are 75 minutes, plus a $1.50 service fee and tax. The rink is card-only. Skaters must be at least 3, and under-12s need an adult with them. It's open Christmas Day from 3–10 p.m.

Frosty's Ice Rink at Snow Island
7650 Lanier Islands Pkwy, Buford, GA 30518, USA
Frosty's is a different kind of outing. Skating is one part of License to Chill Snow Island at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, alongside snow tubing, snow play and carnival rides. Allow a full afternoon, and do the math on a season pass if you might go twice. Details: Daily tickets are coming soon at $59.99, and winter season passes are $99.99 now. Day guests also pay a $20 gate fee per vehicle. The park is cashless.

Rudolph's Rink
4158 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30319, USA
This is the one to remember for a short family outing around Christmas. Rudolph's Rink is the centerpiece of Holidays in the 'Haven at Brookhaven Park, with food trucks and lawn games around it. Watch for registration, since last season's online spots sold out. Details: The city hasn't posted this season's rink details. Last season, skating was free with skates included, in 45-minute sessions, and the festival closed December 24, December 25 and January 1.

Sweetland on Ice
110 Smith St, LaGrange, GA 30240, USA
Sweetland is worth the drive if you're already making a LaGrange day of it. The covered rink sits at the amphitheater, with a heated spectator area for anyone who'd rather watch. Check the calendar before you leave, since it only runs on selected dates. Details: Hours are Friday 5–9 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday noon–9 p.m. Kids are $12 with skates, and anyone with their own skates pays $11. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Athens on Ice
440 Foundry St, Athens, GA 30601, USA
Athens on Ice brings seasonal skating to downtown at the 440 Foundry Pavilion, and it's worth keeping in mind for a winter weekend in Athens. Once the calendar is out, pair a session with an afternoon downtown. Details: Returning for 2026–27, with dates and prices to come. Tickets include skates and one session, and season passes are already on sale. Sessions can sell out, so buy ahead.
Indoor Ice Skating Rinks in Atlanta
When the forecast looks bad, or you care more about skating than decorations, these year-round rinks are the backup. They run hockey and figure skating too, so pick a session marked public skating.

Center Ice Arena
5750 Roswell Rd, Sandy Springs, GA 30342, USA
This is the easy indoor swap for Sandy Springs and north Atlanta, and the regular schedule makes it simple to plan around. Details: $18 with rentals for ages 6 and up, $14 for ages 4–5. Ages 3 and under skate free, with rentals extra. Sessions run Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and no reservation is needed.

Atlanta Ice House
2600 Prado Ln, Marietta, GA 30066, USA
A good Cobb County option when you want to skate more than you want a holiday scene. Details: $22 with rentals, or $18 for under-10s. No reservation is needed, but session times vary, so check the calendar. Some sessions run on the smaller half sheet.

The ICE Complex
1345 Atlanta Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040, USA
This is the cheapest indoor skate on our list, with 90-minute public sessions in Cumming. Details: $13 with rentals for ages 11 and up, $11 for ages 6–10 and $9 for ages 3–5. Skate aids aren't offered or allowed, adults helping children must wear skates, and children can't be carried on the ice.

Atlanta IceForum
2300 Satellite Blvd NW, Duluth, GA 30097, USA
Keep IceForum in mind when Gwinnett is the easier side of town. Details: Public sessions run around the rink's other ice programs, so call (770) 813–1010 for this week's times and rates.
Which Atlanta Rink to Choose, and What to Know Before You Go

- Kids: A Monday–Thursday session at City Springs, or Conyers for a longer skate with no set start time.
- A north-metro outing: Avalon or Medley for shopping and dinner, Sugar Hill for a downtown night, or Canton for an unhurried afternoon.
- No car: Skate the Station, with the free shuttle from MARTA's Arts Center station.
