Boston Christmas Trees

Boston Christmas Trees

423 Washington St, Brighton, MA 02135, USA

Family-owned since 1969 and veteran-owned, this is the classic city lot: balsam and Fraser from 3 to 12 feet, wreaths and stands, and free parking in Brighton Center. Staff give the trunk a fresh cut and help you load up, which makes it an easy Saturday errand. It moved from Allston to Brighton in 2025, so ignore older listings. Details: 423 Washington St, Brighton. Open Nov 27 through Christmas Eve. Delivers within six miles of the lot.

McKay's Christmas Trees

1850 Soldiers Fld Rd, Brighton, MA 02135, USA

The IHOP parking lot on Soldiers Field Road doesn't look like much, but McKay's has been selling trees for more than 40 years and opens before most of the city. Balsam and Fraser run from tabletop to over 12 feet, and staff will fresh-cut, wrap and tie the tree to your car. Bring cash. Details: 1850 Soldiers Field Rd, Brighton, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Also at 71 Pond St, Ashland, next to Market Basket, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Both open Nov 22. Cash only, with an ATM at both.

Mahoney's Garden Center

Mahoney's Garden Center

449 Western Ave, Brighton, MA 02135, USA

Mahoney's grows balsams on its own Nova Scotia farm, and it's the stop to pick if the tree is only the first item on your list. Balsam runs from 2-to-5-foot minis, which are handy for apartments, up to 12-footers, with Fraser, white pine, blue spruce and Canaan fir alongside. Staff will cut, net and tie the tree to your car for free. Details: 449 Western Ave, Brighton, and 242 Cambridge St, Winchester, plus Concord, Chelmsford and Tewksbury. 6–8 ft balsam special $49.50 while supplies last. Selection varies by store.

Ricky's Flower Market

Ricky's Flower Market

238 Washington St, Somerville, MA 02143, USA

For Somerville and nearby Cambridge, Ricky's keeps it close to home. The Union Square flower market brings in fresh-cut trees every season along with wreaths, garland, poinsettias and potted live trees, so you can do all the greenery in one stop. Details: 238 Washington St, Somerville. Parking on site.

Lambert's Fruit

Lambert's Fruit

777 William T, Morrissey Blvd, Dorchester, MA 02122, USA

Lambert's turns a tree run into a regular errand: buy the balsam, then pick up groceries and dinner on the way out. It's the easy call for Dorchester, and the Westwood store does the same job southwest of the city. Balsam and Fraser come in several household sizes. Details: 777 Morrissey Blvd, Dorchester, and 220 Providence Hwy, Westwood. 6–7 ft balsam $79.99; 7–8 ft balsam $99.99.

Volante Farms

Volante Farms

292 Forest St, Needham, MA 02492, USA

Volante sits nicely between a parking-lot purchase and a full farm day. You pick from pre-cut balsam and Fraser, browse the Trim-a-Tree Shop, then get coffee or food at the market before heading home. The crew will fresh-cut, wrap and tie the tree to your car. Details: 292 Forest St, Needham. Pre-cut only.

Snowport Christmas Trees

Snowport Christmas Trees

99 Autumn Ln, Boston, MA 02210, USA

If you live in the Seaport, this is the easy answer, though it isn't the cheap one. Balsam starts at $129.98 and Fraser at $199.98, and delivery, setup and takeaway are sold separately. You're paying for location and for having everything priced up front. You can browse in person or preorder online. Details: 99 Autumn Ln, Boston, which isn't the main Snowport market entrance. Nov 20 to Dec 24, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Christmas Tree Farms Near Boston

Go to a farm for the outing, not to save money. Fields can sell out long before the season ends, especially after the first weekend, so look at the farm's page the morning you drive out. Most are between 30 minutes and an hour from downtown. Allandale Farm in Brookline is in a construction year with limited access, and Tree-Berry Farm in Scituate has closed its Christmas tree business.

Pakeen Farm

Pakeen Farm

109 Elm St, Canton, MA 02021, USA

Pakeen is our pick for the classic cocoa-and-tree outing, about as close to Boston as cutting your own gets. Choose-and-cut balsam and Fraser grow on the farm in limited numbers, and pre-cut trees from tabletop to 10-plus feet are there for anyone in the family who'd rather skip the saw. There's hot cocoa, and fresh mini donuts in the barn. Details: 109 Elm St, Canton. Opens Nov 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and usually runs to mid-December. Saturdays and Sundays 9 to 4; Tuesday to Friday 11 to 7, with fields closing at dusk; closed Mondays. No tagging.

Houde's Tree Farm

Houde's Tree Farm

169 Berlin Rd, Marlborough, MA 01752, USA

Houde's opens early, and it's family-run with more than 50 years behind it, but go in knowing what's in the fields. Cutting is limited to mostly smaller spruce and pine, with no balsam or Fraser, so plan on the pre-cut balsams if you want a conventional 6-to-9-footer. The farm nets your tree for the ride home, and leashed dogs are welcome. Details: 169 Berlin Rd, Marlborough. Opens Nov 21. Weekdays noon to 7 p.m., weekends 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; cutting ends at 4 p.m. Cash or check.

Wood Street Christmas Trees

Wood Street Christmas Trees

17R Wood St, Groveland, MA 01834, USA

Wood Street is about the tree and not much else, which is the appeal. Most of the crop is 6 to 7 feet, and prices run $35 to $95. Cheaper trees are in marked areas or carry tags, and an unmarked tree is full price, so ask before you cut. Saws are provided, or bring a handsaw or cordless sawzall. Chainsaws aren't allowed. Details: 17R Wood St, Groveland. Nov 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with later dates depending on stock and weather. Cash or check, exact change appreciated.

Mistletoe Acres

Mistletoe Acres

254 Whitman St, East Bridgewater, MA 02333, USA

Mistletoe Acres runs its pre-cut lot and its fields on separate calendars, so pick your date by the trip you want. Pre-cut starts the weekend before Thanksgiving. The choose-and-cut fields open the day after, and there's a holiday shop with wreaths and handmade ornaments. Details: 254 Whitman St, East Bridgewater. Pre-cut Nov 21 to Dec 23, weekdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekends 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Cutting from Nov 27, ending at 3 p.m. daily, while trees last.

Vandervalk Farm & Winery

Vandervalk Farm & Winery

25 Lovell St, Mendon, MA 01756, USA

Vandervalk is one to put on the calendar, because it can sell out by the end of its first weekend. Balsam and Fraser are mostly 7 to 9 feet with a few 10-footers, and it's first come, first served, so early arrivals get the tall ones. The farm supplies a saw, a cart and twine. The winery across the street makes it a good Friday trip, since it's open Fridays and Sundays in November. Details: 25 Lovell St, Mendon; winery at 18 Lovell St. Opens Nov 27, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., then Saturdays and Sundays until sold out. No tagging. Leashed dogs welcome.

Sleighbell Tree Farm

Sleighbell Tree Farm

130 Whitins Rd, Sutton, MA 01590, USA

This is the fullest outing on the list. Alongside the fields and pre-cut Fraser firs, there's a log-cabin Gift Barn with a Santa Express train running through it, and Santa himself visits on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Field trees include Fraser, Canaan and concolor fir and white pine, and shaking and baling are included. Details: 130 Whitins Rd, Sutton. Opens Nov 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., then Saturdays and Sundays 9 to 4. Santa Nov 28, noon to 4 p.m.

The Christmas Tree Farm

The Christmas Tree Farm

254 Taylor St, Pembroke, MA 02359, USA

This four-generation Pembroke farm plants only Fraser fir, so it's the place to go if that's what you want. Cut your own in the field, or pick from the pre-cut trees near the entrance, which stay on sale under lights until closing. The Christmas shop sells homemade wreaths and gifts. Details: 254 Taylor St, Pembroke. Opens the day after Thanksgiving.

Christmas Tree Delivery in Boston

In a Boston walk-up, getting the tree upstairs can matter as much as the tree. "Delivery" often stops at the door, so compare what each service actually does.

EverGreen Delivery is the one to call when the car is the problem. It delivers by bike, can get a tree to you the same day, and will carry it in, set it up and take it away in January. If you'd rather choose in person, its tree lot is at Hood Park in Charlestown.

Details: Delivers across most of Greater Boston, with rates by neighborhood. Carry-in, setup and removal cost extra; bundling setup and removal saves 10%. Book through the calendar on its site.

Before You Buy a Christmas Tree in Boston

Measure the width. In a small apartment, width matters as much as height. Leave room for the stand and topper, and look at the tree's shape, not just the label.

Buying late? Go with a pre-cut lot rather than a farm, and call ahead for the size you need.

Once it's home. Get a fresh, straight cut of about half an inch off the trunk, put it in water quickly, and check the level daily so the base never dries out. Keep it away from fireplaces and radiators, and turn the lights off when you go out or go to bed.

After Christmas. Boston collects trees curbside on your normal trash day from December 28, 2026, through January 8, 2027. With two trash days a week, it's the first one. Put the tree out by 6 a.m. with no lights or ornaments and no plastic bag, and take the stand off. Look up your dates here. Cambridge, Somerville and Brookline run their own schedules.

Decorating the rest of the house? Our Boston Christmas lights guide covers the neighborhood walks, and the Christmas markets guide has wreaths and ornaments. Making a day of it? Pair the tree run with one of the best ice skating rinks in Boston.
