Alumni clubs claim a room, put the game on with sound and turn a random Irish pub on 35th Street into a little piece of Lincoln or Baton Rouge for four hours on a Saturday. This guide covers both sides of the NYC college football scene: where every Power 4 program, plus Notre Dame, has its best or most established watch spot, and the best general college football bars in the city if you just want a great room, lots of screens and a full Saturday of games.

The goal is simple: help alumni, transplants and visiting fans figure out where their team actually watches in New York, while also giving everyone else a shortlist of the best places to watch college football in NYC. When a school or alumni association publishes an official watch site, we say so. When there is an established fan bar without an official designation, we make that clear too. And when we could not confirm a current NYC home for a team, we tell you rather than guess.

Best general college football bars: Smithfield Hall, Legends, The Crompton and the Blue Haven locations are some of the best bets if you want to watch a full Saturday of college football rather than follow one specific fanbase. Expect lots of TVs, multiple games at once and the kind of setup where you can settle in for the noon slate and stay through the primetime games.

Best neighborhoods: Midtown and the Garment District have the highest concentration of college football bars in NYC, especially between 30th and 36th Streets. Bryant Park and Grand Central are another major cluster, with additional team bars scattered through the East Village, West Village and FiDi.

What to expect from a team bar: Most established alumni watch bars show their team with game sound and give that fanbase priority on Saturdays. For rivalry games and major matchups, arrive early or make a reservation where possible because the most popular rooms can fill quickly.

If your team is harder to find: Not every Power 4 program has a permanent NYC home, and watch locations can change from season to season. We distinguish between official alumni watch sites, established fan bars and teams for which we could not confirm a current location rather than assigning a bar just to complete the list.

The SEC has one of the strongest college football bar scenes in NYC. Eleven of the conference’s sixteen schools have an official watch bar designated by either the university or its NYC alumni chapter, giving SEC fans more officially established options than any other conference. Most of those bars are concentrated in Midtown, with many within a 15-minute walk of Penn Station.

Crimson Tide fans have bounced around a few NYC watch spots in recent years. Alabama’s National Alumni Association currently lists The Half Pint in Greenwich Village as the official New York watch site, while The Ainsworth Midtown has also hosted Alabama crowds. Longtime fans may remember The Ainsworth’s former Chelsea location as the primary Tide bar before it closed.

The NYC Razorbacks have a new home at Stout, where Arkansas fans gather for game days. One thing to know if you have not been in a while: Stout relocated in 2025 from its longtime 33rd Street location.

The New York Auburn Club gathers at St. Pat’s Bar & Grill in Midtown, typically taking over the upstairs space and spilling onto the first floor when the crowd gets big. St. Pat’s explicitly lists itself as a home for Auburn Tigers fans, and the club also hosts select Auburn basketball watch parties, so it is more than just a football-season spot. 

The Gotham Gators spread watch parties across multiple NYC neighborhoods, with The Tailor Public House in Midtown West, Roebling Sporting Club in Williamsburg and Meller’s Sports Hub & Grill on the Upper East Side serving as the group’s primary locations. Reservations open at noon the Sunday before each game, with University of Florida Alumni Association members receiving priority.

The NYC UGA alumni chapter hosts watch parties at Gramercy Ale House and American Whiskey, giving Bulldogs fans two established Manhattan options on game day.

Jack Demsey’s has been the longtime NYC home of the Kentucky Wildcats, hosting the NYC UK Alumni Club since 2008. It is one of the city’s longest-running college watch-bar relationships, with Kentucky games shown with sound and the bar openly embracing its role as a Wildcats destination.

Legends in Midtown is the official NYC watch bar for LSU alumni, giving Tigers fans a central home on game days. Oregon also uses Legends for watch parties, so the bar can have multiple college fanbases in the building on busy Saturdays.

MJ Smith’s in Midtown is the established NYC gathering spot for Mississippi State fans, with the New York alumni chapter hosting multiple Bulldogs football watch parties there throughout the season. The chapter does not necessarily organize a formal event for every game, so it is still worth checking the alumni calendar before heading out. 

Downtown Social in the East Village is the official NYC watch bar for Ole Miss, as listed by the Ole Miss Alumni Association. The New York club uses the bar for events beyond football season as well, making it an established year-round home for Rebels fans in the city. 

Stout Financial District is the NYC home for Mizzou fans, with Stout itself listing the FiDi location as the place to watch Missouri football. It is a long-established downtown sports bar at John and Gold Streets, giving Tigers fans a consistent home in Lower Manhattan.

Haswell Green’s in Midtown is the NYC home of the Oklahoma Sooners, and the bar explicitly promotes itself as such with a dedicated OU page and game schedule. It also serves as a Cleveland Browns bar on Sundays, so Saturdays are the Sooners’ time to take over the room.

Mason Jar in Murray Hill has been the longtime NYC home of the Gamecocks for more than a decade. The NYC Gamecock Club fills the bar on football Saturdays, often with a line out the door, and the relationship extends beyond football with year-round alumni events. 

Printers Alley in the Garment District is the official NYC home of the Tennessee Vols Alumni Club. The Nashville-inspired bar is a natural fit for Vols fans, with Tennessee game days taking over a space already built around Southern music, food and football.

Stout Grand Central is the main NYC home for Texas football, while Horn’s Hook Tavern on the Upper East Side hosts Longhorn watch parties for basketball and other sports. The Texas Exes New York chapter officially lists both, with Stout serving as the primary football-season location.

Jack Doyle’s in the Garment District is the official 2026 NYC home for Texas A&M watch parties, giving Aggies a central spot just a few blocks from Penn Station. West Virginia also calls Jack Doyle’s home, so Aggies and Mountaineers can end up sharing the bar on busy Saturdays.

Vanderbilt’s New York alumni chapter hosts game watches, but it does not currently publish a permanent NYC football bar. Past watch parties have used spots like Linen Hall and Judy Z's Tavern, so Commodores fans should check the chapter calendar for the latest location rather than assume there is a standing home.

The Big Ten has one of the largest college football footprints in NYC, especially after the addition of Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA. Ohio State and Penn State have particularly extensive watch-bar networks across the city, while several other schools rely on a single established gathering spot. For some programs, bar affiliations are less formal or have shifted in recent years, so we distinguish between official alumni watch sites and bars that are simply known to draw that fanbase.

The Metro NYC Illini Club hosts its game watches at Overlook in Midtown East, one of the better all-around sports-bar setups in the city. With 30-plus screens across two floors, it gives Illinois fans a reliable home even on Saturdays packed with other games.

The IU Alumni Association’s Metro New York chapter hosts official Hoosiers game watches at Phebe’s in the East Village, making it the clearest home for Indiana fans in NYC. Carragher’s in FiDi and Reservoir in Greenwich Village also regularly attract Hoosiers crowds, giving IU fans a few strong options around Manhattan on game days.

Playwright Irish Pub in Midtown is the official NYC home of the New York Metro Iowa Club, and the bar has hosted Hawkeyes watch parties for years. Playwright also serves as the home of the NYC Washington State Cougars alumni group, so different floors can draw different college crowds on busy Saturdays.

Mustang Harry’s near Penn Station is the official NYC watch bar for the New York Terps, with the alumni chapter hosting Maryland game watches there. The two-floor sports bar has plenty of TVs and space for larger groups, making it a strong setup for Terps Saturdays.

Michigan fans have several established NYC watch options, including Blue Haven East, Shaffer’s and Fools Gold, all listed by the U-M Club of New York for 2026 game watches. Central Park Tavern and Brickyard Craft Kitchen & Bar are also known Wolverines spots, giving Michigan one of the broader watch-bar footprints in the city.

Sláinte Bar & Lounge on the Bowery and Blondies Sports on the Upper West Side are the two main NYC watch spots for Michigan State fans. Both draw Spartans for game days, with Sláinte offering a downtown option and Blondies serving the Upper West Side crowd.

John Sullivan’s in the Garment District and McHale’s Bar & Grill in Midtown are the two main NYC watch spots for Minnesota fans. Both draw Gophers on game days, giving the alumni crowd a couple of centrally located options for football Saturdays and other major Minnesota games.

The Brazen Tavern in Hell’s Kitchen is one of the most committed college football team bars in NYC. The NYC Huskers returned to the space after nearly a decade away, having originally gathered there when it was the Irish Rogue, and the bar now goes all-in on Nebraska Saturdays with a dedicated Huskers crowd and game-day atmosphere.

Blondies Sports on the Upper West Side is a longtime NYC gathering spot for Northwestern fans, with Wildcats regularly watching games there. The bar also draws Michigan State fans, so it can host multiple Big Ten crowds on busy Saturdays.

5th & Mad in Midtown is the only official NYC game-watch location for Ohio State, with the alumni club hosting Buckeyes there every Saturday of football season. The club has explicitly ended its staffed presence at former watch spots like The High Note and Stout Bryant Park, so 5th & Mad is the place to go if you want the official alumni crowd.

Legends in Midtown is the official NYC watch bar for Oregon, with the University of Oregon Alumni Association listing it for Ducks watch parties throughout the 2026 season. The bar also hosts LSU fans, so on busy Saturdays you can get two major college crowds under the same roof.

Penn State NYC runs one of the broadest official watch-bar networks in the city, with Olde City NoMad, Olde City Upper East Side, Blue Haven South and T-Squared Social as featured locations, plus The Hairy Lemon as an additional official watch bar.

3 Sheets Saloon in Greenwich Village is the longtime NYC home for Purdue fans, with the Purdue Alumni Club of New York City using it for Boilermakers game watches. Purdue crowds show up there for both football and basketball, even when there is not a formally organized alumni event, giving the bar a more consistent Boilermaker presence than most watch spots.

Rutgers’ former official NYC watch bar, The Liberty, closed in March 2026 after losing its lease. The Rutgers Club of NYC has not yet published a replacement permanent home, so Scarlet Knights fans should check the club’s latest game-watch updates before heading out.

Bruins are unsettled in New York. Neither UCLA Alumni nor the bar confirms the Smithfield Hall listing, and the NY Bruins have run watch parties at Reservoir in Greenwich Village. 

Pennsylvania 6 near Penn Station has been the longtime NYC gathering spot for USC fans, including official Trojan watch parties in recent seasons

Stout Bryant Park is the current NYC gathering spot for Washington fans, with the bar itself listing the Huskies among its college football affiliations. Longtime fans may remember Féile on West 33rd Street as the New York Husky bar for years before it closed, making Stout the clearest place for the purple-and-gold crowd now.

Dorrian’s Red Hand on the Upper East Side is the official NYC home of the Big Apple Badgers, hosting Wisconsin fans for every football game throughout the season. Lydia’s in the East Village is another established Badgers spot, carrying on the Wisconsin watch-party tradition of The Grayson, which previously occupied the space. Together they give Wisconsin fans strong uptown and downtown options.

The ACC has one of the most fluid college football bar scenes in NYC. Realignment brought Cal, SMU and Stanford into the conference, while several long-standing alumni-bar pairings have shifted or disappeared in recent years. A handful of ACC programs still do not have a clearly established New York home, so this is one conference where checking the latest alumni updates before game day can matter. We have also included Notre Dame here for convenience because of its close ACC ties, although the Fighting Irish remain independent in football.

Tipsy NoMad is the current NYC home for Boston College game watches, with the BCNYC alumni chapter hosting Eagles football there throughout the season. Longtime fans may remember Dewey’s Pub as the former BC watch bar, but it has since closed, making Tipsy NoMad the clear current option.

District Tap House in the Garment District is the clearest current NYC home for Cal fans, with the Cal Alumni Club of New York having hosted watch parties there and Bears fans continuing to identify it as the main game-day spot. The bar has plenty of TVs and shows Cal games with sound, while older affiliations like Shaffer’s appear to have faded.

The Rutherford near Penn Station is the official NYC home of the New York/Tri-State Clemson Club, with the alumni group hosting Tigers watch parties there and the bar itself promoting Clemson football throughout the season. 

Stout Bryant Park has become the main NYC gathering spot for Duke fans, though the Blue Devils do not currently have an officially designated football watch bar. Longtime Duke fans may remember Féile near Penn Station as the chapter’s longtime basketball home before it closed, with Stout emerging as the clearest successor for game days.

The Seminole Club of NYC hosts watch parties at Wicked Willy’s in Greenwich Village and The Three Monkeys in Midtown, giving Seminoles two established Manhattan options on game day. The club uses both locations across the season, so fans can usually choose between a downtown and Midtown crowd. 

AWOL Bar & Grill in Kips Bay is the longtime NYC gathering spot for Georgia Tech fans, with the Yellow Jackets having used it for game watches for years. The affiliation is well established, though recent turnout appears to be less consistent than in the past, so it is worth checking the alumni network’s latest plans for bigger games.

Louisville does not currently have a confirmed NYC watch bar. Older guides point Cardinals fans to spots like The Keg Room and Printers Alley, but we could not verify either as a current Louisville home. For now, check the New York alumni group’s latest updates before planning around a specific bar.

Clinton Hall’s 36th Street location in Midtown is the official NYC home for Miami Hurricanes watch parties, with the New York ’Canes hosting game watches there and Clinton Hall promoting dedicated University of Miami football Saturdays. 

NC State does not currently publish an official NYC football watch bar, despite having an active New York alumni network. Shaffer’s in Chelsea is the spot most commonly associated with Wolfpack fans and remains a solid place to catch the game, but we could not confirm it as a current alumni-sponsored home. For a major matchup, check the NYC alumni network’s latest updates before heading out.

Slattery’s Midtown Pub is the longtime NYC home of the New York Carolina Club, which has called it the Tar Heels’ “home away from home” for years. The club regularly gathers there for UNC football and basketball, making it one of the more established ACC alumni bars in the city.

Seven Sins in Gramercy and Slattery’s Midtown Pub are the two official NYC game-watch locations for the Notre Dame Club of New York, with club volunteers, specials and a dedicated Fighting Irish crowd on football Saturdays. Both have hosted official NDNY watches, giving Notre Dame fans a downtown-ish Gramercy option and a more central Midtown home.

Murphy’s Pub on Second Avenue at East 51st Street is the longtime NYC home for Pitt fans, with Panthers gathering there for football and other major games. Be sure to use the 986 Second Avenue location, since an older Murphy’s listing nearby has closed and can still cause confusion in search results.

Mustangs fans have a couple of established NYC options, with The Pony Bar on the Upper East Side serving as the current alumni watch spot and one4one Sports Club & Lounge also drawing SMU crowds for game days. The locations give SMU fans both uptown and downtown options depending on where they want to watch.

Stanford does not currently have a confirmed NYC football watch bar, and the New York alumni network does not publish a standing game-day home. Cardinal fans are best off choosing one of the strong general college football bars later in this guide and calling ahead to make sure the Stanford game will be on.

Syracuse fans have two particularly established NYC homes. The Chelsea Bell in Chelsea is the current gathering spot for official NYC Alumni Club game watches, while East End Bar & Grill on the Upper East Side is a longtime Orange stronghold that shows Syracuse football and basketball with a dedicated ’Cuse crowd. Together they give Orange fans strong options on both sides of Manhattan.

American Whiskey near Penn Station is the official NYC game-watch home for UVA, with the Virginia Club of New York hosting Cavaliers football and basketball watches there throughout the year. 

Shades of Green in Gramercy and Scruffy Duffy’s in Hell’s Kitchen are the two main NYC watch spots for Virginia Tech fans. The Manhattan Hokies chapter hosts football and basketball game watches at Shades of Green, while Scruffy Duffy’s gives Hokies a second official option on the West Side.

Turnmill Bar is the official NYC gathering spot for Wake Forest fans, with both the university’s alumni association and the New York alumni community directing Demon Deacons there on game days. It is one of the cleaner ACC affiliations in the city, with first-party confirmation from Wake itself.

The Big 12’s college football bar scene in NYC is more scattered than the SEC or Big Ten, and several of the affiliations that still circulate online are years out of date. The established watch parties, though, are some of the best in the city, including Colorado at Judy Z’s and West Virginia at Jack Doyle’s. For the schools without a clearly confirmed home, we’ve called that out rather than relying on an old bar listing.

Clinton Hall’s 51st Street location in Midtown East is the established NYC watch spot for Arizona fans, with the MetroCats alumni chapter hosting Wildcats game watches there across multiple seasons. Clinton Hall has several NYC locations, so make sure you are heading to the 51st Street bar for the Arizona crowd.

The Irish American Pub in the Financial District is the official NYC game-watch home for the ASU New York Alumni Chapter, with Sun Devils watch parties held there throughout recent seasons. John Sullivan’s in the Garment District is another longtime ASU fan bar and remains a popular Midtown option for Sun Devils looking to catch the game.

The Irish American Pub in the Financial District is the established NYC watch spot for Baylor fans, with Bears gathering downtown for football game days. Arizona State also uses the bar for alumni watches, so it can draw multiple Big 12 crowds on busy Saturdays.

No New York watch home could be confirmed. Cougar fans in the city organise through the chapter rather than around a bar, which fits the culture. If you find one, tell us.

Phebe’s in the East Village is the go-to NYC bar for Cincinnati fans and regularly draws Bearcats crowds on game days. The bar is best known as the city’s Cincinnati Bengals home, but it has also become the most established place for UC fans to gather.

Judy Z’s in the West Village has been the NYC home of Forever Buffs New York since 2022, with the bar setting aside space for Colorado fans and turning on game sound for the Buffs. It is one of the more established Big 12 watch-party setups in the city.

Smithfield Hall in Chelsea is the established NYC watch bar for Houston fans, with the university’s New York alumni network hosting Cougars game watches there throughout the season, including bowl games. The large sports-bar setup also makes it a good fit for bigger Houston crowds.

The Keg Room in the Garment District and Fáilte in Kips Bay are the two main NYC gathering spots for Iowa State fans. The Keg Room has a long history as the official home of the New York City Cyclones, while Fáilte has emerged as another current watch spot for the alumni crowd.

Cornerstone Tavern in Midtown East is the official NYC watch bar for Kansas, with the bar promoting Jayhawks game watches throughout the season. Kansas games get sound, along with game-day specials, making it one of the more clearly defined Big 12 team bars in the city.

The Storehouse in Flatiron is the current NYC home for Kansas State fans, with the K-State Alumni Association identifying it as the city’s preferred watch bar for both football and basketball.

O’Keefe’s Bar & Grill in Downtown Brooklyn is the longtime NYC gathering spot for Oklahoma State fans, making the Cowboys one of the few Power 4 fanbases with an established home outside Manhattan. The old-school Court Street pub has hosted NYC Cowboys watch parties for years and gives OSU fans a true neighborhood-bar setting just steps from Borough Hall.

Gramercy Ale House is the longtime NYC bar most associated with TCU fans, with Horned Frogs gathering there for game days over the years. The New York alumni chapter has shifted watch-party locations in recent seasons, though, so we would treat it as the best-known TCU spot rather than a permanently designated official home.

Beckett’s Bar & Grill in the Financial District is the current NYC home for Texas Tech fans, with the Texas Tech Alumni Association listing it as the New York game-watch location for Red Raiders football and other major games. Longtime fans may remember Mustang Harry’s as the chapter’s previous watch bar, but the official alumni listing has since moved downtown.

UCF Alumni rotates New York watch parties among two official locations: Shaffer’s in Chelsea and Bella Union in Kips Bay. Each bar hosts specific games rather than the entire season, so Knights fans should check the alumni schedule before heading out to see which location has that week’s watch party. 

Clarke and Moore in Chelsea is the official NYC watch bar for Utah fans in 2026, with the New York alumni chapter hosting Utes football watch parties there throughout the season. It is a new home for the chapter, replacing the older and often-outdated bar listings that still circulate online.

Jack Doyle’s in the Garment District is the main NYC home for West Virginia fans, with both the alumni association and the bar promoting Mountaineers game watches there. Texas A&M also uses Jack Doyle’s, and for bigger WVU games the crowd can spill over to nearby John Sullivan’s and The Tailor Public House on the same block.

If you are not looking for one specific alumni crowd, or your team does not have a dedicated NYC home, these are the best all-around bars for a full Saturday of college football. Smithfield Hall, Legends, The Crompton and the Blue Haven locations are among the standouts, with enough screens to show multiple games at once and the kind of atmosphere where you can settle in for the noon slate and stay through primetime. Penn District and Herald Square, West 30th to West 36th. The densest stretch in the city and the easiest to get to, spanning the top of Chelsea, the Garment District and Herald Square. Legends, Stout Penn Station, Mustang Harry’s, Jack Demsey’s, Jack Doyle’s, Pennsylvania 6, The Rutherford, and American Whiskey are all inside a fifteen minute walk, with 5th & Mad just across Fifth Avenue on East 36th.

Bryant Park, West 36th to West 40th. Printers Alley, District Tap House, Stout Bryant Park and The Keg Room. Three big-screen rooms and a projector hall within five minutes of one another, and the natural landing spot if you are coming in through Grand Central or Port Authority.

Midtown East and Grand Central. Stout Grand Central, Overlook, Murphy’s Pub, Cornerstone Tavern and Clinton Hall on 51st. Convenient if you are coming in from Connecticut or Westchester.

Financial District. Blue Haven South, Stout FiDi, Carragher’s and The Irish American Pub. Quiet on a Saturday morning, which is part of the appeal.

East Village and Alphabet City. Phebe’s, The Hairy Lemon, Downtown Social, Lydia’s and Sláinte. Smaller, louder, more team-specific rooms.

Upper East Side. Dorrian’s Red Hand, East End, Meller’s, Horn’s Hook and Olde City on Third. The alumni-heavy uptown pocket.

Kickoff windows. The three standard slots are noon, 3:30pm and 7:30 or 8pm Eastern. A full Saturday is a three-shift day, and most bars fill hardest for the 3:30 window because it catches both the lunch crowd and the people who came out for the night game.

West Coast games run very late. With Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA in the Big Ten, there are genuine 10:30pm and 11pm Eastern kickoffs, which finish around 2 to 2:30am. New York allows service until 4am, but most bars do not stay open that long. Printers Alley, The Hairy Lemon, Jack Doyle’s and Lydia’s go to 4am, Mustang Harry’s to 3am, Blue Haven South to 3am Thursday through Saturday. Stout and Overlook close at 2am, which is cutting it fine.

Noon kickoffs need an early room. Legends opens at 7am, Jack Doyle’s at 10am, Printers Alley at 10:30am, Blue Haven South at 11am, and Mustang Harry’s, Stout Penn Station and The Hairy Lemon at 11:30am. Overlook, Stout Grand Central and District Tap House open at noon, which means you arrive at kickoff rather than before it.

How alumni watch parties actually work here. Most are free and walk-in friendly. The reservation, when there is one, usually happens at the table level with the bar rather than through the club: call Printers Alley and say you are with the Tennessee alumni club, email Olde City when tables open Mondays at noon, register through the Arizona chapter’s page. Very few charge, and the clubs that hold space hold an upstairs or a section, not the building. For a normal game, arriving 30 to 60 minutes before kickoff is usually enough. For rivalry games, ranked matchups and the biggest alumni crowds, aim earlier.

Sound is the thing worth asking about. Only a handful of bars publish a sound commitment: Olde City for Penn State, Cornerstone Tavern for Kansas, Jack Demsey’s for Kentucky, Judy Z’s for Colorado, East End for Syracuse, Blondies generally, and Dorrian’s for Wisconsin. Everywhere else, ask when you walk in rather than assuming.
