Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, 2026, and in New Orleans the takeout version of the meal can be properly local: a Cajun-fried turkey with buttermilk biscuits, shrimp-and-mirliton dressing from a neighborhood caterer, or a pecan pie from a Magazine Street bakery. You don't have to outsource the whole holiday, either. Buying the bird, a couple of labor-intensive sides or just dessert can be enough.

We've sorted the picks by how much of the meal they cover: complete dinners, a turkey to build around, and pies. The detail that matters most is how the food comes home. Some orders are hot and ready to carve, most are cooked and need reheating, and a few still need a proper roast, so check the format column before you order.

Best Complete Thanksgiving Dinners in New Orleans

These cover the turkey, the sides and usually dessert, from restaurant-made dinners for four to grocery meals that feed ten. For the most New Orleans table, build around Pigéon's oyster or shrimp-and-mirliton dressing.

The Country Club

The Country Club

634 Louisa St, New Orleans, LA 70117, USA

The easiest restaurant-made Thanksgiving without a big catering order. The smallest package feeds four, the turkey comes sliced, and pumpkin cheesecake comes with the country gravy, dressing, cranberry sauce and rolls. Add two sides; mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts are our picks. Packages are $152 for four, $304 for eight and $456 for twelve. Details: Order by Nov. 18; pickup Wednesday, Nov. 25. Pickup only.

Copeland's

Copeland's

2001 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

For hosts who'd rather eat than juggle reheating trays. The $179 feast for six to eight brings a whole Cajun-fried turkey, two sides, a quart of gravy and a dozen buttermilk biscuits; go with cornbread dressing and smothered green beans. Dessert is extra. Copeland's comes from the family that started Popeyes, and the fried turkey shows it. Details: Give 48 hours' notice; pickup Nov. 9–26. Feasts from Nolé, 2001 St. Charles Ave., can come hot; à la carte orders come cold.

Pigéon Catering

Pigéon Catering

803 Jefferson Hwy #200, Jefferson, LA 70121, USA

Pick Pigéon when the sides matter as much as the bird. Oyster dressing, shrimp-and-mirliton dressing and spinach Madeleine give the table its New Orleans accent. The $210 family package pairs a roasted 12–14-pound turkey (or a honey-glazed ham) with two sides and a pumpkin or pecan pie. Details: Order by noon Nov. 20; pickup Nov. 25, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., at Le Provisions. Delivery by arrangement.

The Commissary by Dickie Brennan & Co.

The Commissary by Dickie Brennan & Co.

634 Orange St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

For hosts who like roasting the bird but not making every casserole. The $210 dinner for six to eight pairs a fresh, brined Joyce Farms turkey with mashed sweet potatoes, spinach Madeleine, cornbread-andouille dressing, cranberry sauce, gravy and pie. The turkey comes raw, so plan the roast. Details: Order by Nov. 21; pickup Nov. 25–26.

Robért Fresh Market

Robért Fresh Market

2222 St Claude Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117, USA

The best-value small dinner, and one of the few grocery meals with pie. The $69.99 dinner for two to four brings a baked, smoked or fried turkey breast, green beans almondine, andouille cornbread dressing, gravy, rolls and an eight-inch pecan pie. A whole-turkey dinner for four to six is $89.99. Details: Order at any of the seven holiday-menu stores, Lakeview Grocery included, and set pickup with that store. No substitutions.

Rouses Markets

Rouses Markets

701 Baronne St, New Orleans, LA 70113, USA

The cheapest full Thanksgiving for two or three. The $49.99 turkey-breast dinner covers cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry-orange relish and rolls; dessert is separate. Bigger dinners run up to $99.99 for six to eight, and the crawfish cornbread dressing is a very Louisiana potluck dish. Details: Call your store for the cutoff and a pickup time. Allow one to two hours to reheat.

The Fresh Market

The Fresh Market

3338 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70115, USA

The lowest per-person price here, built for a crowd. The $109.99 Traditional Holiday Turkey Meal feeds eight to ten with a fully cooked turkey, whipped potatoes, herb stuffing, cranberry relish, gravy and rolls. Dessert is extra, and the relish contains walnuts. Details: St. Charles store. Order by Nov. 24, 1 p.m.; pickup Nov. 23–26.

Turkeys, Sides and Pies in New Orleans

Start here when the centerpiece or dessert is the priority and family members are already claiming the sides. Four of the dinners above already include pie: The Country Club, Pigéon, The Commissary and Robért.

Cochon Butcher's sit-down sibling, Cochon, is in our Creole and Cajun restaurants guide.

Cochon Butcher

Cochon Butcher

930 Tchoupitoulas St Ste B, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Where we'd go when the turkey matters most. The holiday menu has a smoked turkey that only needs reheating, plus brined birds to roast at home, with sides like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. We'd get the smoked turkey and two sides, leaving room for the family's own dishes. Details: Order from the Thanksgiving catering menu; pickup Nov. 24–25. Confirm the cutoff at checkout.

Café Reconcile

Café Reconcile

1631 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70113, USA

Your order does a second job here, supporting Café Reconcile's paid career training for young adults. The Thanksgiving menu covers turkey, soups, sides, desserts and hibiscus-ginger sweet tea, so it works for the whole meal or just a few dishes to bring. Details: Order by Nov. 13; pickup Nov. 25, hourly 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Catering: 504-568-1157.

Popeyes Cajun-Style Turkey

Popeyes Cajun-Style Turkey

1243 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

A centerpiece, not a meal, and the easy move when everyone else is bringing sides. The fully cooked, 11–13-pound turkey feeds eight to twelve and starts at $59.99, with prices varying by restaurant. It comes frozen, so allow about 72 hours to thaw. Details: Preorder in the app or online by Nov. 19, choosing your restaurant and pickup date. Pickup only.

La Boulangerie

La Boulangerie

4600 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70115, USA

The Magazine Street bakery where we'd reserve dessert. The Thanksgiving menu centers on whole pies, with pecan, pumpkin and key lime our picks, plus fruit and chocolate tarts. It's Cochon Butcher's sister bakery, but a separate pickup. Details: Order by Nov. 20; pickup Nov. 24 or 25.

Frequently asked questions

When should I order Thanksgiving takeout in New Orleans?
Well before Thanksgiving week. Café Reconcile's deadline is Nov. 13, and most others close between Nov. 18 and Nov. 21. Pickup slots can sell out before the published cutoff, so earlier is safer.
Can I pick up Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day in New Orleans?
Only a few places allow it: Copeland's (hot feasts included), The Commissary and The Fresh Market. Everyone else hands off on Tuesday or Wednesday, so plan fridge space for a night.
Which Thanksgiving takeout turkeys still need cooking?
The Commissary's turkey is raw and ready to roast, Cochon Butcher sells both a reheat-ready smoked bird and turkeys to roast, and Popeyes' arrives frozen and needs about three days to thaw. Everything else reheats.
Can I get Thanksgiving catering delivered in New Orleans?
Pigéon delivers by arrangement, and Robért advertises delivery, though you'll want to confirm your store and address qualify for holiday orders. Popeyes isn't shipping or delivering turkeys this year.
