New Orleans doesn't need an excuse to dress up, but Halloween is when the whole city commits. A horror-themed cocktail takeover, a long witches' lunch in costume, a vampire dinner in the Quarter and a crowded night on Frenchmen Street are four very different plans, and the best weekend starts with picking the one you actually want.
This guide covers the best Halloween bars and restaurants in New Orleans: seasonal pop-ups, Halloween lunches and brunches worth booking, year-round vampire and goth bars, and where to hear music when the costumes come out. Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, 2026, so it's a full weekend.

Halloween Pop-Up Bars and Parties in New Orleans

Anna's
2601 Royal St, New Orleans, LA 70117, USA

Witches' Lunches, Brunches and Halloween Dinners
The witches' lunch is a New Orleans Halloween tradition: a long, dressed-up, three-course meal on the Friday before Halloween. When booking, choose the special event itself, not a regular table at another service. For more weekend brunch picks, see our best brunches in New Orleans.

Muriel's Jackson Square
801 Chartres St, New Orleans, LA 70116, USA
Creole cooking and the deep red Séance Lounge upstairs make this the most complete Halloween meal in the Quarter. Witches' Brunch runs October 30 and 31, three courses from $48 to $68. Details: reserve; lounge open to diners with a drink when not booked privately.

Tujague's
429 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA
The classic witches' luncheon: a dressed-up three-course lunch where the meal is the occasion. Details: Friday, October 30, 11 a.m.–2:15 p.m.; $58 per person before tax, tip and drinks; book the luncheon itself.

The Bower
1320 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA
The more composed, food-first costume lunch, outside the Quarter. Details: Witches' Luncheon Friday, October 30, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.; $50 three courses; book the experience on Resy.

Domenica
123 Baronne St, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA
Inside The Roosevelt, Pranzo con le Streghe swaps Creole for pasta, pizza and a DJ, a livelier alternative to the classic lunches. Details: Friday, October 30, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.; $50; book the event on OpenTable.

Seawitch Restaurant & Oyster Bar
1628 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA
The pick for Halloween-day brunch: Coven Brunch with oysters, seasonal cocktails, live music and tarot. Details: October 31 and November 1, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.; reserve ahead and check what's included.

Tatlo
240 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA
A Filipino kitchen and absinthe bar with a genuinely witchy personality, back in October after a yearlong closure. Come for the cooking. Details: 21+; evenings Wed–Sun; enter on Bienville Street (separate from Old Absinthe House).

Sylvain
625 Chartres St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA
A late-1700s carriage house with a courtyard and a lively Southern bistro menu. Not themed for Halloween, which is the point: book dinner here, then walk to one atmospheric bar. Details: reserve.
Vampire Bars, Goth Bars and Year-Round Spooky Favorites
These places don't need October to feel haunted. They work any weekend, and on Halloween they make great second stops after dinner. For more on the street itself, see the Bourbon Street bars actually worth it.

Vampire Café
801 Royal St, New Orleans, LA 70116, USA
Blood-bag cocktails, theatrical vampire styling and a fully committed theme, with nonalcoholic blood bags too. Details: walk-in only with a text waitlist; don't schedule it right before something ticketed.

Vampire Apothecary
725 St Peter, New Orleans, LA 70116, USA
The planned version of the vampire night: botanical cocktails, apothecary styling and a dinner you can book. Details: Resy; tarot and custom fangs arranged separately.

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop
941 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70116, USA
Low light, an old building and a piano bar make Lafitte's feel like Halloween without a single decoration. Come for a drink, not a meal. Details: walk-in; expect crowds on Halloween weekend.

The Dungeon
738 Toulouse St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA
A dark, loud rock-and-metal bar down a narrow alley, and where Black Lagoon got its start. A late-night detour, not a dinner spot. Details: walk-in; no photos; check the door policy for big groups.

The Crypt
1301 St Bernard Ave, New Orleans, LA 70116, USA
Home of the city's actual goth and alternative scene, in the former Goat space. Polkadot Cadaver plays Halloween night. Details: check the show calendar; event tickets.

Old Absinthe House
240 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA
An old-school absinthe bar with plenty of Bourbon Street character. Order one proper drip before or after dinner. Details: walk-in; Tatlo has its own entrance on Bienville.
Frenchmen Street, Live Music and Daytime Stops
On Halloween night, Frenchmen Street in the Marigny becomes the city's biggest costume party: the block fills with thousands of people in elaborate getups, brass bands and spill-over from every club. It's free and crowded. Come in costume, keep an eye on your things, and expect the clubs themselves to be hard to get into.
Come Carnival season, the Marigny bars are in our Mardi Gras guide.

The Spotted Cat Music Club
623 Frenchmen St, New Orleans, LA 70117, USA
The classic Frenchmen room for live jazz and dancing, right in the middle of the Halloween-night street party. Details: 21+; walk-in only; one-drink minimum; bring physical ID; go early on Halloween.

d.b.a.
618 Frenchmen St, New Orleans, LA 70116, USA
Build a night around a specific band on Frenchmen, then step out into the costume crowd. Details: check the show calendar and that night's entry terms.

Witches Brew Coffee Co.
2940 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119, USA
A year-round witchy coffee shop with tea, pastries and real atmosphere: the easy daytime Halloween stop. Details: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. daily.

Funny Library
550 Baronne St, New Orleans, LA 70113, USA
Virgin Hotels' coffee shop goes apothecary for October, with fall drinks and bites. The hotel's ticketed rooftop party, Saints & Sinners, is Thursday, October 29, 8 p.m.–1 a.m. Details: café 7 a.m.–2 p.m. through October 31.
