New Orleans does Christmas three ways. There's the grand-hotel version, with a glowing lobby and a proper cocktail before dinner. There's the gloriously over-the-top version, with tiki mugs, tinsel and a Santa who'd rather surf than ride a sleigh. And there's the old Creole version: a decorated dining room and a long Réveillon dinner, the city's own holiday feast.

These are the best Christmas bars, restaurants and holiday pop-ups in New Orleans for 2026, grouped by area so you can pair a festive drink with dinner without crisscrossing the city. Each entry notes what's confirmed for this season and how to plan around it.

Christmas Bars and Restaurants in the French Quarter

The Quarter is the easiest place to build a whole Christmas night. Sippin' Santa, Blitzen's, the Carousel Bar and French 75 are a short walk apart, and Antoine's, Arnaud's and Galatoire's have been dressing up for Christmas for more than a century.

Antoine's, Arnaud's and Galatoire's are covered year-round in our guide to classic Creole and Cajun restaurants, and Galatoire's also makes our list of Bourbon Street bars that are actually worth it.

Sippin' Santa at Latitude 29

Sippin' Santa at Latitude 29

321 N Peters St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Expected back for 2026; dates TBA. Latitude 29 swaps snow and pine for palm fronds, tinsel and a Santa on a surfboard. It's the New Orleans flagship of Sippin' Santa, the tropical Christmas pop-up presented by owner Jeff "Beachbum" Berry, and the pick if you care about the drinks as much as the decorations. Each season brings new holiday tiki cocktails and collectible glassware to take home. Plan it: Last season ran from early November to New Year's Day. Reserve on Resy or walk in, but it's 21+ for everyone, including diners, and busy nights can carry a 90-minute table limit.

Blitzen's at Omni Royal Orleans

Blitzen's at Omni Royal Orleans

621 St Louis St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Returning for 2026; dates TBA. For Blitzen's, Omni fills the Rib Room with thousands of twinkle lights, ornaments and wall-to-wall tinsel, with a holiday cocktail menu from Julie Reiner of Brooklyn's Clover Club. It's a block off Royal Street and the rare Christmas bar in town that's open to all ages. Plan it: Last season opened Nov. 28 and ran into early January, from 11 a.m. daily. Check Omni's page for 2026 dates.

Carousel Bar at the Monteleone

Carousel Bar at the Monteleone

214 Royal St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Year-round. Hotel Monteleone decorates for the season, and the slowly turning carousel bar supplies the novelty on its own. It's the most recognizable bar in New Orleans, and the Vieux Carré was created here, so order one. A lounge table is just as good a place to take in the room. Plan it: Open to non-guests. No bar reservations, so treat it as a flexible stop.

French 75 Bar at Arnaud's

French 75 Bar at Arnaud's

813 Bienville St, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA

Year-round. Arnaud's dresses its dining rooms for Réveillon season, and the small, old-school French 75 Bar lets you enjoy that setting without committing to a full dinner. Order the namesake cognac French 75, or ask about the warm winter drinks the bar has poured in past seasons, like Tom and Jerrys and hot buttered rum. Plan it: Ideal before Réveillon dinner next door. Dinner reservations are separate from the bar.

Davenport Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton

Davenport Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton

921 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA

Year-round. Come to Davenport Lounge for the music more than the decorations. Live jazz, cocktails and light bites in the Ritz-Carlton's grand lounge make it a dressed-up holiday night for a date or a group of adults who'd rather settle in than bar-hop. Plan it: Pick a night on the live-music calendar and dress for the room.

Antoine's

Antoine's

713 St Louis St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Antoine's has been serving since 1840 and makes the most of it at Christmas. Its Victorian-style Annex dining room gets one of the tallest, most lavishly decorated trees in New Orleans, and regulars ask for the tables closest to it. Come for the rooms, the ceremony and dishes born here like oysters Rockefeller, not for the city's newest cooking. Plan it: 2026 Réveillon menu TBA. Reserve on OpenTable and request the Annex if the tree matters to you. Business-casual dress is expected.

Arnaud's

Arnaud's

813 Bienville St, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA

Arnaud's grand main dining room looks built for wreaths, bows and Christmas lights, and it gets all three every December. It's the strongest all-in-one pick for a traditional Réveillon: last season's menu ran Dec. 1–23 at $70 for an amuse-bouche and three courses of Creole cooking. Plan it: 2026 Réveillon menu TBA. Start with a drink at the French 75 Bar before you sit down; the bar and dining room book separately.

Galatoire's

Galatoire's

209 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

At Galatoire's, the Christmas show is the crowd. The Friday lunch before Christmas is one of the most sought-after tables in the city, a dressed-up afternoon that runs well into the evening. The rest of December, the Réveillon menu gets you the same mirrored dining room at a calmer pace. Plan it: Both downstairs dining rooms take reservations, including Friday lunch, by phone or Resy; room requests aren't guaranteed. Last season's Réveillon ran at lunch and dinner Dec. 2–24. Jackets required for men at dinner and all day Sunday.

Brennan's

Brennan's

417 Royal St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Brennan's makes breakfast the celebration. The pink Royal Street landmark leans into the season in its courtyard and Roost Bar, which hosted a holiday happy hour last December, and a long brunch here is the easy way to celebrate with visiting family before the evening crowds. Plan it: Closed Christmas Day. Reserve well ahead for December weekends; groups over six should call.

Restaurant R'evolution

Restaurant R'evolution

777 Bienville St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

The Royal Sonesta goes big for Christmas, with an arcade of real Christmas trees, and R'evolution puts you at a table in the middle of it. Last season's five-course Réveillon ran $90, with foie gras, duck and andouille gumbo and île flottante. Families can book Santa's Pajama Party, a December weekend tradition with Santa and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Plan it: 2026 Réveillon menu TBA. Reserve on Resy; parties of seven or more should call. Bar R'evolution is the casual way in.

Christmas Bars and Restaurants in the CBD and Riverfront

The big downtown hotels put on New Orleans' most polished Christmas, and each pairs a bar with a restaurant under the same roof: Santa's Study with Couvant, Windsor Court's Polo Club with The Grill Room, and Chandelier Bar with Miss River.

For the daytime version of a dressed-up hotel meal, see our New Orleans brunch guide; for Thanksgiving week, the restaurants open on Thanksgiving.

Santa's Study at The Eliza Jane

Santa's Study at The Eliza Jane

315 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Santa's Study: Nov. 20, 2026–Jan. 1, 2027. The Eliza Jane turns The Press Room Library into Santa's Study for the season: Christmas trees, wrapped gifts and a fireplace, with cozy holiday cocktails to match. It's the most intimate Christmas bar on this list. Couvant, the hotel's brasserie, serves a four-course Réveillon Dec. 1–24 and Christmas Day brunch. Plan it: Couvant books separately on OpenTable. A dinner reservation doesn't hold you a seat in Santa's Study.

The Sazerac Bar at The Roosevelt

The Sazerac Bar at The Roosevelt

130 Roosevelt Way, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Year-round. The Roosevelt's long lobby of holiday lights is the best-known Christmas display in New Orleans and the right first stop for a first Christmas here. Walk the lobby, then take a seat at the Sazerac Bar and order the namesake. Domenica, in the same hotel, does wood-fired pizza and house-made pasta, and families can book the ticketed Teddy Bear Tea. Plan it: The lobby and bar need no booking. Domenica and Teddy Bear Tea book separately.

Windsor Court

Windsor Court

300 Gravier St F1, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Holiday tea Nov. 27–Dec. 31. Windsor Court does Christmas the dressed-up way. In the evening, the Polo Club has the clubby hotel-bar feel for a cocktail. In the afternoon, Le Salon's holiday tea brings sandwiches, scones, desserts and live harp or piano, the easy pick for visiting parents or a family outing. Plan it: Book holiday tea ahead. Its seasonal price and schedule can differ from regular afternoon tea.

Chandelier Bar at Four Seasons

Chandelier Bar at Four Seasons

2 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Year-round. Chandelier Bar is the polished alternative to novelty mugs and Christmas sweaters. The room's dramatic chandelier does the decorating, and a Chandelier Martini fits a date night by the river. The bar has brought back a S'mores Milk Punch in past holiday seasons, so ask what's on the seasonal list. Plan it: Go on a live-jazz night and give it the whole evening.

Couvant at The Eliza Jane

Couvant at The Eliza Jane

315 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Couvant's French brasserie glows with Christmas trees for the season, and it shares the hotel with Santa's Study, The Eliza Jane's holiday bar. The four-course Réveillon (Dec. 1–24) moves from Gulf crab and citrus to roasted parsnip velouté, then red wine–braised short rib or pan-roasted salmon, and finishes with warm butter cake. Christmas Day brunch runs 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m. Plan it: Book Réveillon and Christmas brunch on OpenTable. A table at Couvant doesn't hold you a seat in Santa's Study.

The Grill Room at Windsor Court

The Grill Room at Windsor Court

300 Gravier St F1, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

A walk through Windsor Court's decorated lobby is a holiday tradition for plenty of New Orleans families, and The Grill Room upstairs turns it into an evening. It has served a contemporary Réveillon in recent seasons, a polished choice for visiting parents or a special-occasion dinner away from the French Quarter crowds. Plan it: 2026 Réveillon menu TBA. Book The Grill Room separately from the hotel's holiday tea in Le Salon.

Miss River at Four Seasons

Miss River at Four Seasons

2 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

The Four Seasons dresses up for the holidays, and Miss River, chef Alon Shaya's ode to Louisiana cooking, serves one of the newer-school Réveillons in town. Last season's four courses ran Dec. 1–25, including Christmas Day, with Gulf seafood, stuffed quail, beef filet and Bananas Foster rum cake. Plan it: 2026 Réveillon menu TBA. Have a drink at the hotel's Chandelier Bar before dinner.

Christmas Bars and Restaurants on Magazine Street, Uptown and in City Park

Two of the city's best Christmas takeovers sit a block apart on Magazine Street in the Lower Garden District. Farther out, Commander's Palace anchors the Garden District, Snake and Jake's keeps its lights on in Carrollton, and Ralph's on the Park faces Celebration in the Oaks.

In its everyday form, Barrel Proof is also one of our first-date bars in New Orleans.

Miracle on Magazine at Barrel Proof

Miracle on Magazine at Barrel Proof

1201 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Miracle on Magazine: expected back; 2026 dates TBA. When Miracle arrives, Barrel Proof disappears under tinsel, trees, lights and wrapping paper, and the drinks come in Miracle's collectible holiday glassware. It's the most over-the-top Christmas bar in New Orleans, but the whiskey-bar bones mean the cocktails hold up too. Bring friends rather than a first date. Plan it: Past seasons opened in late November and ran through December. Weekends get packed, so go early or on a weeknight.

Bah Humbug at The Bower Bar

Bah Humbug at The Bower Bar

1320 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Bah Humbug: expected back; 2026 dates TBA. Bah Humbug covers The Bower Bar in Christmas decorations that spill onto its covered, heated patio, with themed holiday drinks to match. The Bower's full restaurant is right there, so dinner and a Christmas bar happen in one place, a block from Barrel Proof. Plan it: Past seasons ran from late November through Dec. 30. The bar and patio take reservations; ask for holiday-bar seating specifically.

Snake and Jake's Christmas Club Lounge

Snake and Jake's Christmas Club Lounge

7612 Oak St, New Orleans, LA 70118, USA

Year-round. Snake and Jake's isn't a seasonal anything. It's a small neighborhood dive that keeps its Christmas lights up all year, the answer for anyone who hears "Christmas bar" and braces for a pricey ornament-shaped cocktail. Come late, order something simple and enjoy the characters. Plan it: A late-night bar, not a family stop or a place to eat.

Commander's Palace

Commander's Palace

1403 Washington Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA

Commander's treats December as a season of its own. In past years, carolers have made the rounds of the dining rooms at lunch, and its Réveillon is a multicourse tasting menu reinvented every year. It's the pick when the meal itself is the Christmas celebration; weekend jazz brunch is the daytime version. Plan it: Closed Christmas Day. Book early. Men need collared shirts and closed-toe shoes, jackets are preferred, and shorts and T-shirts aren't appropriate.

Ralph's on the Park

Ralph's on the Park

900 City Park Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119, USA

Ralph's sits in a 19th-century building on the edge of City Park, across the street from Celebration in the Oaks, the park's holiday lights festival. Have dinner, then walk over to the lights. The restaurant serves a four-course Réveillon through December. Plan it: 2026 Réveillon menu TBA. Buy Celebration in the Oaks tickets separately and check its schedule; it has closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve in past years.

Ways to Plan a Christmas Night in New Orleans

A first Christmas in New Orleans. Walk The Roosevelt's lobby and have a Sazerac at the Sazerac Bar, then head to Couvant for Réveillon and a nightcap in Santa's Study.

A French Quarter Réveillon night. Start at French 75, sit down for Réveillon at Arnaud's, then finish at Blitzen's or the Carousel Bar.

Magazine Street. Dinner and Bah Humbug at The Bower, then a block down to Miracle at Barrel Proof.

With kids. Blitzen's welcomes all ages, R'evolution hosts Santa's Pajama Party, Windsor Court serves holiday tea, and Ralph's on the Park is dinner before Celebration in the Oaks.

Before You Go

Book the one thing that matters. Reserve the dinner, tea or Latitude 29 table that anchors the night and keep lobby stops flexible.

Book the right thing. A restaurant reservation doesn't guarantee a seat at its holiday bar, and many restaurants serve Réveillon only if the whole table orders it.

Dress the part. A Christmas sweater that works at a pop-up won't meet the dress code at Galatoire's or Commander's Palace.
