Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, and you don't have to cook all of it. Boston kitchens are selling whole-turkey spreads for ten, restaurant dinners for two, smoked turkey with barbecue sides, and bakery orders that take the stuffing, rolls and pie off your list.

This guide covers Boston, Cambridge and Watertown, plus a few pickups in Somerville, Brookline, Needham and Canton. Prices are before tax and delivery unless noted, and all times are Boston time. The earliest cutoff is November 16, and holiday kitchens can sell out before their posted deadlines, so order early.

Complete Thanksgiving Dinners in Boston

These cover the turkey and the familiar sides in one order, from a grocery-store value dinner to build-your-own catering. Most come cold for reheating, so read the card for what's left to do at home.

Summer Shack

Summer Shack

149 Alewife Brook Pkwy, Cambridge, MA 02140, USA

The $220 dinner feeds eight to ten with turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, squash, gravy and cranberry sauce, which makes it one of the better values here. You choose an oven-roasted or Southern-fried bird, and the fried one gets fried turkey on the table without you doing the frying. Pies are $30 each (apple, pumpkin or pecan). If the family's already got the sides covered, the $160 turkey-only order is a 14–16-pound bird with gravy. Details: Pickup Wednesday, November 25, noon–6 p.m., at 149 Alewife Brook Parkway, Cambridge only. Comes with reheating instructions. There's no posted order cutoff, so book a slot early.

Buttermilk & Bourbon

Buttermilk & Bourbon

160 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA 02116, USA

The $200 dinner for six to eight is built around an eight-pound boneless turkey breast, so it suits a table that mostly wants white meat. It comes with smashed potatoes, herb stuffing, honey-roasted squash, cranberry sauce and gravy. The extras are the fun part: buttermilk biscuits ($24 a half dozen), lobster mac and cheese ($35 a quart) and sweet-potato bread pudding ($24). Bread and dessert aren't in the base dinner, and the biscuits come par-baked, so they need time in the oven. Details: Order by Sunday, November 22, 3 p.m. Pickup Wednesday, November 25, noon–6 p.m., at 160 Commonwealth Avenue in Back Bay or 100 Arsenal Yards Boulevard in Watertown. Plan to reheat before Thursday dinner.

The Smoke Shop BBQ

The Smoke Shop BBQ

343 Congress St, Boston, MA 02210, USA

The Smoke Shop gives Thanksgiving a barbecue accent without dropping the classics. The $159 Classic Spread for four to six has smoked white and dark turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, gravy, cranberry sauce and pumpkin-spice butter cakes. The $259 Grand Feast for six to eight adds pork loin ham, mac and cheese, cornbread and burnt-ends stuffing. For two or three, the $109 Leftovers Kit has turkey, a smaller set of sides and slider buns. A whole smoked turkey on its own is $128. Details: Order by Saturday, November 21, 6 p.m. Pickup Tuesday, November 24, noon–8 p.m., or Wednesday, November 25, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Everything comes cold with reheating instructions. Pickup at the Seaport (343 Congress Street), Harvard Square (8 Holyoke Street) or Assembly Row (325 Assembly Row), plus Woburn, Chelmsford and Methuen; pick your branch when you order.

Branch Line

Branch Line

321 Arsenal St, Watertown, MA 02472, USA

Branch Line is one of the few restaurant dinners you can pick up on Thanksgiving Day itself, and that's the main reason to choose it. The $340 package for four to six pairs turkey breast with confit thigh meat, plus potatoes, francese-bread stuffing, glazed carrots, giblet gravy and cranberry sauce. It costs more per person than most dinners here, but you get both white and dark meat and a Thursday handoff. Rosemary focaccia, snap-pea salad and mac and cheese are sold as extras; dessert isn't included. Details: Order by Saturday, November 21. Pickup Thursday, November 26, at 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown; choose your slot when ordering and ask how much heating is left to do at home.

Roche Bros.

Roche Bros.

8 Summer St, Boston, MA 02110, USA

Roche Bros. keeps a complete dinner cheap. The $170 roasted-turkey dinner serves eight to ten with potatoes, squash, herb stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and an apple pie, about $17–21 a person. The $135 turkey-breast dinner serves four to six with smaller sides. There's also a $180 version with a bigger bird, but the sides stay the same size, so it buys more turkey and leftovers rather than room for more guests. Substitutions aren't available. Details: Order by Sunday, November 22, noon. Pickup Wednesday, November 25, at a participating store (Downtown Crossing, West Roxbury and Watertown among them); choose the store and slot when ordering. Everything's fully cooked and handed out cold. Stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day.

The Main Course Market

The Main Course Market

11 Washington St, Canton, MA 02021, USA

If you live south of the city, Main Course Market saves the drive into Boston. The $199.99 boneless-breast dinner serves six to eight with squash, potatoes, green beans, your choice of stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and rolls. The $279.99 whole-turkey dinner for eight to ten comes cooked and carved, which takes one more job off Thursday. Nine-inch pies are $19.99 extra. Details: Order by phone at 781-821-0005 by Friday, November 20, noon. Pickup Tuesday, November 24, or Wednesday, November 25, at 11 Washington Street, Canton; set the time when you call. Sides come with reheating instructions.

Baker's Best

Baker's Best

150 Gould St, Needham, MA 02494, USA

Baker's Best is the pick when one set menu won't work for your group. The holiday menu is priced by the dish with a $75 minimum, so you can order turkey next to ravioli or beef tenderloin, take only the sides you want and add appetizers or dessert. Carved turkey breast starts at $32 for two (meat only), mashed potatoes are $13.50 a quart for three to four, and pies are $34. Most dishes need reheating, and some appetizers come frozen for baking. Details: The earliest cutoff in this guide: order by Monday, November 16, noon. Pickup at 150 Gould Street, Needham, or delivery, on Tuesday, November 24, or Wednesday, November 25; choose a slot when ordering. Delivery is $18 to nearby towns or $28 to the wider area, which includes Boston, Cambridge and Somerville.

Catalyst

Catalyst

300 Technology Square, Cambridge, MA 02139, USA

Catalyst works when your group wants more than one main. The holiday menu runs from turkey to beef, duck, salmon and stuffed lobster, plus a $36 individual acorn squash filled with vegetables and wild-rice risotto that's vegan and gluten-free. A whole roasted turkey with gravy is $175 for eight to ten, and the breast is $120 for six to eight. Those prices are for the main only. Most sides serve four at $26–28 each, so check quantities if you're feeding eight or ten. Details: Preorder required; there's no posted cutoff, so don't wait. Pickup Wednesday, November 25, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., at 300 Technology Square, or delivery that day within 12 miles of the restaurant, with the fee set at checkout. Everything's prepared for reheating.

Thanksgiving Takeout for One or Two in Boston

These are sized for a smaller table: an individual plate, a restaurant dinner priced per person, or a half-turkey spread with a little room for leftovers. The Smoke Shop's $109 Leftovers Kit (above) also feeds two or three.

The Berkeley

The Berkeley

350 Stuart St, Boston, MA 02116, USA

The Berkeley, the bistro inside Hotel AKA Back Bay, is the first place to look for a solo Thanksgiving. The $49 individual dinner has turkey breast, stuffing, potatoes, two green vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls and a slice of pumpkin pie. On Thanksgiving Day you can take it hot and eat right away, or chilled to warm up later, so it's the one order on this list that can skip the oven entirely. Wednesday pickups come chilled with reheating instructions. Details: Order by Monday, November 23. Pickup Wednesday, November 25, 3–7 p.m., or Thursday, November 26, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. The holiday order form gives 350 Stuart Street; the restaurant also lists an entrance at 154 Berkeley Street in the same building.

Bar Mezzana

Bar Mezzana

360 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02118, USA

Bar Mezzana's Thanksgiving starts at two people, which makes it the splurge pick for a couple. It's $95 a person ($190 for two, $380 for four, $570 for six) for roast turkey breast and confit leg with gravy, cranberry sauce and sides like sage-and-dried-plum stuffing, creamed onions and green-bean casserole. Orders for two choose three sides; larger orders get all of them. It also comes with bread and mayo for Friday's turkey sandwiches, a nice touch if leftovers are half the point. Dessert isn't included. Details: Order by Friday, November 20, noon. Pickup Wednesday, November 25, noon–6:30 p.m., at 360 Harrison Avenue, with reheating instructions.

Pemberton Farms

Pemberton Farms

2225 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02140, USA

Pemberton's $116 half-turkey dinner for two to four sits between a single plate and a full feast. It includes stuffing, potatoes, green beans, gravy, cranberry sauce and rolls; pie is extra. Larger dinners are $180 (conventional turkey, six to eight), $196 (boneless breast, six to eight) and $225 (Stonewood Farms turkey, eight to ten). It's also the easiest place on the list for dietary swaps: gluten-free stuffing, gravy and rolls on request, green beans without almonds, and vegan stuffing if you're building an order dish by dish. Details: Order by Thursday, November 19, 5 p.m. Pickup runs November 23–26 at 2225 Massachusetts Avenue; choose a slot when ordering, and confirm with the shop if you need Thanksgiving Day.

Davio's Back Bay

Davio's Back Bay

75 Arlington St, Boston, MA 02116, USA

Davio's charges $85 a person, so the order scales cleanly from two people up and nobody has to fit a preset package. Roast turkey comes with potatoes, asparagus, squash, onions and peas, challah stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. Pie is $15 a slice or $50 whole (apple, pumpkin or pecan). The food comes refrigerated in plastic, so plan on moving it into oven-safe dishes before reheating. For six or more, ask for the final total when you order. Details: Order by phone at 617-357-4810 by Tuesday, November 24, 5 p.m. Pickup Wednesday, November 25, after 11:30 a.m., or Thanksgiving morning before 11 a.m., at 75 Arlington Street.

Thanksgiving Sides, Bread and Pies in Boston

If you're roasting the turkey yourself, these cover everything around it. Petsi and Clear Flour are walk-in only during Thanksgiving week, so leave some slack in the schedule for those stops.

Stillwater

Stillwater

120 Kingston St, Boston, MA 02111, USA

Stillwater is the order for someone who likes cooking the bird but not everything else. The sides packages are $97 for two to four or $195 for six to eight, and both include a pie. Expect mushroom stuffing, sour-cream-and-chive potatoes, mac and cheese, vegetables with goat cheese and bourbon-maple butter, rolls and turkey gravy, with Dutch apple or caramel-pecan-fudge-brownie pie. There's no turkey, and the gravy means the package isn't vegetarian. Individual sides and pies are sold too. Details: Pickup Wednesday, November 25, 11 a.m.–7 p.m., at 120 Kingston Street, with heating instructions. No posted order cutoff.

Formaggio Kitchen

Formaggio Kitchen

268 Shawmut Ave, Boston, MA 02118, USA

Formaggio lets you fill the gaps around your own cooking, add a cheese course and pick up a pie in one stop. Sides come small (one to two), medium (four to six) or large (ten to twelve); sage stuffing starts at $11 and buttermilk mashed potatoes at $13. The cheesemonger's selection is $40 for four, with crackers and accompaniments extra. Whole pies serve about eight and run from $38 for pumpkin to $45 for apple or chocolate-bourbon pecan. Details: Order by Friday, November 20, 4 p.m. Pickup Tuesday, November 24, or Wednesday, November 25, at 268 Shawmut Avenue in Boston, 358 Huron Avenue in Cambridge or 94 Hampshire Street in Cambridge. Heating instructions are linked from the holiday menu.

Flour Bakery

Flour Bakery

12 Farnsworth St, Boston, MA 02210, USA

Flour can take more than pie off your list. Mushroom-and-multigrain stuffing is $22 for four to six, mashed potatoes are $19 and buttery rolls are $16, and a $30 pumpkin pie serves eight. There are gluten-free pies and a $45 vegan chocolate bundt for eight to ten. The mushroom stuffing is vegetarian but has dairy and eggs, so it isn't vegan. Details: Preorder for pickup Tuesday, November 24, or Wednesday, November 25, choosing a Boston or Cambridge bakery and slot at checkout. A separate delivery menu runs the same dates (order by Saturday, November 21, 4 p.m.; $15–20 delivery), with slightly higher prices than the pickup ones above.

Petsi Pies

Petsi Pies

285 Beacon St, Somerville, MA 02143, USA

Petsi's Thanksgiving-week sale is walk-in only: large ten-inch pies, with flavors changing as batches come out and others sell through. Go with a backup flavor in mind. If you'd rather shop ahead, look for the Take 'n Bake or Take 'n Thaw pies before November 21 and follow the instructions for each. Details: Tuesday, November 24, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., or Wednesday, November 25, from 8 a.m. until sold out, at 285 Beacon Street, Somerville. No preorders. Closed November 26–30.

Clear Flour Bread

Clear Flour Bread

178 Thorndike St, Brookline, MA 02446, USA

Clear Flour is for the host who cares as much about the bread basket as the pie. The Thanksgiving lineup includes breads, an apple-cranberry tart, chocolate whiskey cake and other seasonal baking, with apple-crumble pies scheduled for November 23–25. Everything's first come, first served, so it's a great stop if you're flexible and a risky one if a specific dessert has to be on the table. Details: Walk-in only at 178 Thorndike Street, Brookline, no holiday preorders. Check the holiday hours before you go.

Community Servings' Pie in the Sky

Pie in the Sky is the pie to bring to someone else's Thanksgiving. Community Servings' annual fundraiser sells apple, pecan and pumpkin pies (or a bundle of all three), and the money supports its meals for people living with serious illnesses. You choose from more than 40 pickup sites across Eastern Massachusetts when you order, so pick one on your route and keep the receipt for the details.

Details: Pickup Tuesday, November 24. Check the current price and order deadline on the Pie in the Sky order page.

Tips for Ordering Thanksgiving Takeout

Price the whole meal, not just the turkey. A turkey-only price leaves out the sides, bread and pie, so add those before comparing it with a complete dinner. Watch serving sizes too: a main for eight with sides for four leaves the table lopsided, and "serves six to eight" gets tight if everyone expects leftovers.

Plan the reheat before Thursday morning. Most of these come cold. Clear fridge space, read the heating instructions and work back from when you want to eat, since a full oven needs a schedule even when someone else did the cooking. Davio's food has to move into oven-safe dishes, Buttermilk & Bourbon's biscuits need finishing, and some Baker's Best appetizers are frozen. The Berkeley's hot Thanksgiving Day pickup skips all of it.

Keep it to one main pickup and one extra stop. Get the dinner in one order, then add a bakery only if it's worth the trip. Baker's Best and Catalyst deliver full holiday menus and Flour delivers sides and pies, so check your address is covered before planning around delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best Thanksgiving takeout in Boston for two people?
The Berkeley is the simplest: two $49 individual dinners, with a hot pickup on Thanksgiving Day. Bar Mezzana is the splurge, with a package built for two, and Davio's per-person pricing works out to $170 for two. For a shared spread with leftovers, look at Pemberton's half-turkey dinner or The Smoke Shop's Leftovers Kit.
Can I pick up Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day in Boston?
Yes. The Berkeley and Branch Line both offer Thursday pickup, and Davio's Back Bay hands out orders before 11 a.m. Only The Berkeley lets you choose hot food; Davio's comes refrigerated. Pemberton lists November 26 in its pickup window, but confirm that slot with the shop.
Which places deliver Thanksgiving dinner in Boston?
Baker's Best delivers its full holiday menu on November 24–25, and Catalyst delivers on November 25 within 12 miles of Kendall Square. Flour runs a separate delivery menu for sides, bread and desserts on November 24–25. Coverage and fees depend on your address.
What can I order for vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free guests?
For a vegan main, Catalyst's stuffed acorn squash is vegan and gluten-free, and it also has a vegan cranberry rice pilaf. Pemberton sells vegan stuffing and gluten-free stuffing, gravy and rolls, and Flour has a vegan chocolate bundt and gluten-free pies. Check individual dishes: Flour's mushroom stuffing has dairy and eggs, Stillwater's package includes turkey gravy, and Baker's Best's vegetable stuffing uses turkey stock. If cross-contact matters, talk to the kitchen before ordering.
