Sometimes you want a real dinner at 11 p.m. Sometimes you need something substantial after the bars close. Those are different problems, and this guide covers both: pancakes on South Congress at 3 a.m., wings on Riverside, Korean food on Burnet Road and a pizza after a Red River show.
It's organized by when the food actually stops, not when the bar closes. Pay attention to the day as well as the hour, since several of Austin's best overnight options keep different weekday and weekend schedules.

Open All Night in Austin
These are the places that keep going while the rest of Austin is asleep, though only Tyson's and P. Terry's do it every night. Check the day before you count on a diner.

Magnolia Cafe
1920 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704
The old-Austin answer when half the table wants breakfast and the other half wants queso. Order the Love Migas, a stack of pancakes, or Mag Mud, queso loaded with black beans, avocado and pico de gallo, and make it a sit-down meal. The menu runs from breakfast to Tex-Mex to sandwiches, with plenty for vegetarians, so a group whose cravings have nothing in common can still end up at one table. Details: South Congress · 1920 S Congress Ave · Open around the clock from 7 a.m. Thursday through Sunday; Monday–Wednesday, 7 a.m.–midnight.

24 Diner
600 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78703
When the night calls for a real table and a real meal, 24 Diner is the move on the west side of downtown. Chicken and waffles is the order earlier in the evening; after hours there's a shorter late-night menu built around handhelds. It's the closest thing downtown has to a proper all-night diner, just not every night of the week. Details: Sixth & Lamar · 600 N Lamar Blvd, Suite 200 · Open continuously from 7 a.m. Wednesday until 11 p.m. Sunday; Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m.–11 p.m.

P. Terry's Barton Springs
404 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704
Sometimes the best late-night plan is a cheeseburger, fries and a shake with no bar tab and no wait for a table. The original Barton Springs stand is the handy one just south of downtown, and breakfast starts at 4 a.m. if you're out that late. Details: Barton Springs · 404 S Lamar Blvd · Open 24 hours daily.

P. Terry's Koenig
5900 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752
P. Terry's North Lamar option for a burger, fries and a shake at any hour. The dining room closes at 10 p.m., so after that it's a drive-thru run. Details: North Lamar · 5900 N Lamar Blvd · Drive-thru open 24 hours; dining room closes at 10 p.m. nightly.

Tyson's Tacos
4905 Airport Blvd, Austin, TX 78751
The all-hours taco stand for when the clock matters more than being close to downtown. Alongside breakfast tacos, the menu leans into brisket, with a burnt ends taco and a brisket taco topped with avocado and pickled onion. You order at a walk-up window and eat on a covered patio, so a cold or wet night is a good reason to take it home. Details: Airport Boulevard · 4905 Airport Blvd · Open 24 hours, seven days a week.

Food After 2 A.M. in Austin
These kitchens are still going once the bars close. Hoboken, Tandoori Lounge and The Potluck run late every night; NADC, Velvet Taco and Yalla push to 3 or 4 a.m. mainly on Friday and Saturday, so check the night before you go. Coming from a show? Our guide to Austin's live music bars covers where to start the night, and our dancing and two-stepping guide has the honky-tonks that let out around the same time.

Hoboken Pie
718 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701
The easy pizza call after a Red River show: whole pies for the group, and a few slices most nights if you only need one. The dining room reopened in 2025, so you can sit down instead of eating on the curb, and the late close isn't just a weekend thing, which makes it useful after a midweek show too. Details: Red River · 718 Red River St · Open 11 a.m.–2:30 a.m. daily; online orders stop around 2 a.m.

Tandoori Lounge
3601 W William Cannon Dr #450, Austin, TX 78749
One of the few places in Austin where you can sit down to a full dinner at 2 a.m. Build the table around tandoori chicken, goat or lamb biryani and dal makhni with naan; vegetarians get saag paneer, paneer tikka and Gobi 65. It's worth the drive to Southwest Austin for a group that wants to share plates rather than grab something and go. Details: Southwest Austin · 3601 W William Cannon Dr, Suite 450 · Open 11:30 a.m.–3 a.m. daily.

The Potluck Riverside
2410 E Riverside Dr, Austin, TX 78741
Wings are the reason to come, in flavors like Loose Cannon (Cajun and ranch), with gumbo, red beans and rice, and fries if the table needs more. Riverside is the bigger room, with a bar, screens and indoor tables, so it's the one to pick when you want to sit down. Details: East Riverside · 2410 E Riverside Dr, Suite D4 · Open until 3 a.m. daily.

The Potluck Menchaca
5700 Menchaca Rd, Austin, TX 78745
The original Potluck trailer, with picnic seating, the same wings and a po'boy if you want something more than a basket. It's the one to choose when your night is already ending in South Austin. Details: Menchaca · 5700 Menchaca Rd · Open until 3 a.m. daily.

NADC Burger
1007 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78702
The indulgent burger stop rather than the budget one. The menu is short on purpose: a double-patty wagyu burger with grilled onions, tamed jalapeños and secret sauce, plus fries double-fried in a beef tallow blend, so it's no vegetarian fallback. The East Sixth flagship is where the brand started, and its weekend hours make it useful once other kitchens have stopped. Details: East Sixth · 1007 E 6th St · 11:30 a.m.–midnight Sunday–Thursday; until 3 a.m. Friday–Saturday.

Velvet Taco Congress
522 Congress Ave Ste 100, Austin, TX 78701
Not where to send someone looking for street tacos, but the right call for a hungry group at 3 a.m. that wants different things. Start with the spicy tikka chicken; vegetarians get fried paneer, beer-battered cauliflower and Nashville hot tofu, which comes with ranch crema, so it isn't vegan. Details: Downtown · 522 Congress Ave, Suite 100 · 10:30 a.m.–midnight Sunday–Wednesday, 1 a.m. Thursday, 4 a.m. Friday–Saturday.

Velvet Taco Domain Northside
11501 Rock Rose Ave Ste 160, Austin, TX 78758
The same menu and the same 4 a.m. weekend close as downtown, for when the night ends up north at the Domain. Details: Domain Northside · 11501 Rock Rose Ave · 10:30 a.m.–midnight Sunday–Wednesday, 1 a.m. Thursday, 4 a.m. Friday–Saturday.

Yalla Burgers & Wings Halal
611 Trinity St, Austin, TX 78701
A halal truck that's there for the after-bar crowd downtown. Halal burgers, wings, loaded fries and a Philly-style steak sandwich keep a group from splitting into three different food orders. It's a practical stop, not a leisurely dinner. Details: Downtown · 611 Trinity St · From 10 p.m. Monday–Wednesday and 6 p.m. Thursday–Sunday; until 3 a.m., and 4 a.m. Friday–Saturday.

JewBoy Sliders
1111 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78702
For a burger that isn't a giant one. Order a few sliders, share fries, and add the border-style queso with Hatch green chile if the night calls for it; black-and-white cookies cover dessert without another stop. This is the East Sixth sliders shop, separate from JewBoy Burgers on Airport. Details: East Sixth · 1111 E 6th St · 5 p.m.–1 a.m. Sunday–Thursday; until 2:30 a.m. Friday–Saturday (Saturday from 2 p.m.).

Taqueria 7 Estrellas #2
9616 N Lamar Blvd #147, Austin, TX 78753
For a very late North Austin food run, this is more than a last-resort taco. Quesabirria with consomé is the order when you want something substantial; a gringa is the simpler choice when melted cheese and a tortilla are the whole requirement, and sopes and gorditas round it out. Details: North Lamar · 9616 N Lamar Blvd, Suite 147 · Opens around 6 p.m. Wednesday–Monday, closed Tuesday; online orders until 3:45 a.m.

Tacos El Charly
9306 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78753
A food-first taco stand that doesn't even open until 7 p.m. Al pastor carved off the trompo and suadero are the orders, and the tacos are cheap enough to get a few of each. You eat at folding tables in the lot it shares with El Tacorrido, often with live music, so bring cash and don't expect a dining room. Details: North Lamar · 9306 N Lamar Blvd · Opens 7 p.m. nightly; order by 12:30 a.m. Monday–Thursday and by 2:30 a.m. Friday–Saturday.
Food Until 1 or 2 A.M. in Austin
Most of these are bars with serious kitchens, which means the bar closes at 2 a.m. but the kitchen may not run that long. Order food by midnight or 1 a.m. and you won't be cutting it close.

Mother's Ruin
1401 E 6th St Bldg A, Suite 204, Austin, TX 78702
The Austin outpost of the New York bar is one of the easiest picks for a group that wants to eat properly without leaving the bar behind. Start with Old Bay waffle fries for the table, then split between the smashburger, crispy chicken sandwich, wings, tacos and the falafel burger. Seating is first come, first served, so treat it as a flexible plan. Details: East Sixth · 1401 E 6th St, Building A, Suite 204 · Kitchen until 1:30 a.m. daily; bar until 2 a.m.

Golden Tiger
1816 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78702
The truck at Whisler's where the burger matters as much as the drink. The Golden Burger is a double smash with American cheese and special sauce, and a fried chicken thigh sandwich and a deep-fried tofu sandwich mean the whole group can order. Grab food, then settle into Whisler's. Details: East Sixth, at Whisler's · 1816 E 6th St · Open until 1:30 a.m. daily.

Delray Cafe at Nickel City
1133 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702
The truck behind Nickel City keeps bar food exactly where it belongs: the Looseburger, wings by the pound and a basket of tots. You can order a full meal or just something for the middle of the table and keep the drinks going, which makes it one of the easier East Side stops for a group. Details: East Eleventh · 1133 E 11th St · Nickel City is open until 2 a.m. daily; order food by 1 a.m.

Frazier's Long & Low
2538 Elmont Dr, Austin, TX 78741
A $5 Little OG burger in a bar you'll actually want to stay at; add the chopped cheese if one small burger won't cover it. Pool tables, shuffleboard and a jukebox turn dinner into the rest of the night, which is the point when you're already around Riverside and don't feel like heading downtown. It's an adults-only bar. Details: East Riverside · 2538 Elmont Dr · Open noon–2 a.m. daily; eat before the final stretch.

The Little Darlin'
6507 Circle S Rd, Austin, TX 78745
Mostly patio, with a lawn, picnic tables and a stage, so it's the South Austin pick when the weather cooperates and you want room to spread out. The burger (bacon, pickled red onion, red-eye mayo) and the fried chicken sandwich are the orders, and dogs are welcome on the patio. Details: South Austin · 6507 Circle S Rd · Open 11 a.m.–2 a.m. daily; order food early, the kitchen doesn't always run to close.

Casino El Camino
517 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78701
The Sixth Street dive that people go to for the burgers. The Amarillo Burger, with roasted serranos, jalapeño jack and cilantro mayo, is the one to get if you like heat. The room is dark and unapologetically divey, and the burgers are big enough that this isn't a five-minute detour. Details: Downtown · 517 E 6th St · Open 11:30 a.m.–2 a.m. daily; order by 1 a.m.

Sap's Ver Fine Thai Cuisine
4514 West Gate Blvd, Austin, TX 78745
For when the group has had enough burgers and tortillas. Noodles, curry and fried rice turn the end of the night into an actual dinner without making it a special occasion, and it works best shared across a few dishes. Details: Westgate · 4514 West Gate Blvd · Open 11 a.m.–2 a.m. daily; online pickup orders stop at 1:30 a.m.

Soha
911 W Anderson Ln. #114, Austin, TX 78757
A Korean pub for when the late dinner should involve a steaming bowl and a table full of shared plates. Get the pork bone soup (gamjatang), cheesy kimchi fried rice and the tteokbokki with fried dumplings and udon, and bring a few friends who are happy to order together. Details: Crestview · 911 W Anderson Ln, Suite 114 · Open 5 p.m.–2 a.m. Tuesday–Sunday, closed Monday; order by 1 a.m.

Banjoo
5222 Burnet Rd Unit 500, Austin, TX 78756
The livelier Korean option, with private karaoke rooms rented by the hour for groups of 5 to 20 and a separate dining room if nobody's singing. Boneless Korean fried chicken in honey soy and tteokbokki with udon are built for the middle of the table, and food can be ordered straight to the room. Details: Burnet Road · 5222 Burnet Rd, Unit 500 · Open 5 p.m.–2 a.m. Tuesday–Sunday, closed Monday.
Late Dinners Until Midnight in Austin
These kitchens close around 11 p.m. or midnight, so they're for a dinner that starts late rather than food after the bars. Plan on getting there by 11. For the drinks side of a late dinner, see our Austin bars for your 30s guide; Hopfields and Justine's also sit close to a few bars in it.

Hopfields
3110 Guadalupe St #400, Austin, TX 78705
The best answer near UT when someone asks if you can still get a real dinner at 10:30. The Pascal Burger, moules frites, steak frites and French onion soup stay on until midnight, and from 10 p.m. there's a reverse happy hour with smaller versions of the burger and the mussels. After 10 it switches to walk in and order at the bar, which suits an unplanned dinner. Details: North Campus · 3110 Guadalupe St, Suite 400 · Full menu until midnight daily; reservations and table service end at 10 p.m.

Justine's Brasserie
4710 E 5th St., Austin, TX 78702
Go to Justine's when the late dinner is the occasion. Low light, music and a French bistro menu (steak frites, escargots, French onion soup) make it a date or a celebration rather than a refuel. Book it rather than wandering in after everything else has closed; the bar keeps pouring after the kitchen stops. Details: East Austin · 4710 E 5th St · Dinner until midnight Friday–Saturday and 11 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; closed Tuesday.

Arlo's Junior
2337 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702
The vegan pick that doesn't feel like a compromise. Start with the Bac'n Cheeze Burger, add tots or mac and cheeze, and get the Jalapeño Ranch Chik'n if someone wants a sandwich instead. You order online and pick up at the window, and it closes too early to be a 2 a.m. fallback. Details: East Cesar Chavez · 2337 E Cesar Chavez St · Until 11 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and midnight Friday–Saturday.

Las Trancas
1210 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702
A no-frills East Side taco stand worth prioritizing before midnight. Order the tripas extra crispy and a lengua taco alongside the usual pastor or asada; takeout works just as well as eating on site. Details: East Cesar Chavez · 1210 E Cesar Chavez St · Open 11 a.m.–midnight daily.

El Tacorrido Norte
9320 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78753
Breakfast tacos all day, a drive-thru and a deep meat lineup make this the easy North Lamar taco order. The revuelta, a mix of cuerito, buche and carnitas, is the one to try if you usually stick to pastor. Tacos El Charly takes over the shared lot once El Tacorrido closes. Details: North Lamar · 9320 N Lamar Blvd · Open 7 a.m.–midnight daily.
