Villa Cortine Palace 2027 Wedding Guide

Villa Cortine Palace operates differently from many of Lake Garda’s private villa venues. Its 2027 wedding model is a full hotel buyout: €80,000 per night in April and October, €90,000 from May through September, with a two-night minimum. The mandatory buyout alone therefore costs €160,000 to €180,000 before food, drinks or wedding production.

What that buys is unusual on Lake Garda. The buyout includes all 52 rooms, accommodation for up to 104 overnight guests, breakfast and a working five-star hotel operation, all within five hectares of private park at the tip of the Sirmione peninsula and minutes on foot from the historic center.

This guide covers the 2027 rates, mandatory catering across two event days, the 100-guest minimum, the €6,000 daily food-and-beverage condition, the midnight outdoor curfew, Sirmione’s restricted-traffic zone and the rain-plan capacity that remains the venue’s biggest unanswered question.

Villa Cortine Palace has something most of the grand villas around Lake Garda do not: hotel infrastructure.

That distinction is the whole argument for the venue. Once the property is bought out, there are 52 rooms for up to 104 overnight guests, breakfast, housekeeping, restaurants, bars, a heated pool and a private pier already operating inside the estate. Nobody is building a hospitality operation around an empty historic house for the weekend. For a destination wedding that makes the guest experience unusually cohesive: a 100-person wedding can in principle keep the entire party on site, and even at 130 or 150 most of the people closest to the couple can sleep at the venue.

Location is the second advantage. Many Lake Garda estates trade seclusion for logistical isolation. Villa Cortine does not. It sits inside Sirmione, a few minutes on foot from the historic centre, while its walled park creates a completely different atmosphere once guests are through the gate.

The tradeoff is cost, and it is substantial. For most 2027 dates a couple commits €180,000 before buying a single wedding meal, and a conventional 100-person catering programme at the hotel's published starting rates takes that to roughly €236,000 before planning, floral design, rentals, production, photography, entertainment, transport and any tax that applies. That makes Villa Cortine inefficient for a small wedding, which is probably why it sets a 100-guest minimum. The commercial sweet spot sits at roughly 100 to 150 guests, where the fixed buyout is spread across more people without turning the wedding into a very large event.

The unresolved issue is weather. Villa Cortine clearly has substantial interior event infrastructure, and its own rules move the late-night party inside Le Gardenie after midnight. But no seated indoor capacity is published for any room, and RoamRecs could not verify one from any third-party source either. At this price point that is a document to have before signing, not after.

Villa Cortine publishes an unusually clear 2027 rate card. The critical point is that exclusive use of the hotel is mandatory. Couples are not paying an event-space fee with rooms on the side.

2027 Buyout Pricing

These are standard starting proposals; the hotel states the programme can be customised and priced individually. At 100 guests, a welcome dinner, aperitif, wedding dinner and open bar begins at €56,000, or €75,000 with brunch. At 150 the same four services start at €84,000, or €112,500 with brunch. At 180 they reach €100,800 and €135,000. Each figure assumes identical attendance at every event, which real weddings rarely deliver.

Two Conditions That Change the Arithmetic

Catering is mandatory on two event days. At least one service on the wedding day and at least one on an additional event day. A couple cannot buy the two-night hotel, run only the wedding dinner through the venue and take the rest of the weekend off site. A minimum of 100 guests applies separately. Together those conditions describe what the buyout is designed for: a full destination-wedding takeover, not an elopement product.

Any day without confirmed catering carries a €6,000 minimum, calculated daily and not poolable across dates. How that interacts with arrival days, departure days and a three-night stay should be confirmed in writing. If a couple adds the discounted third night but holds no formal event that day, does the €6,000 apply automatically?

What Does the Minimum Wedding Actually Cost?

Quoting €80,000 per night on its own is misleading. Taking the two-night buyout plus a four-service 100-person programme at published starting prices:

• April or October: €160,000 plus €56,000 equals €216,000, or €235,000 with brunch
• May through September: €180,000 plus €56,000 equals €236,000, or €255,000 with brunch

These are not complete wedding budgets. They are the published buyout plus a conventional catering structure, and they exclude essentially all wedding production. That is the most important pricing takeaway here: for a standard 100-person weekend in peak season, the venue and hotel catering bill can pass €250,000 before flowers, music, photography, planner or production enter the budget.

Deposit, Terms and City Tax

Villa Cortine requires a non-refundable deposit equal to one night at signature: €80,000 for April or October, €90,000 from May through September. Temporary reservations without a deposit are held for a maximum of seven days. Nothing is published about the schedule for later payments, cancellation terms beyond that deposit, postponement terms, damage or security deposit requirements, or IVA treatment. All five should be requested before signing.

City tax is separately excluded. Sirmione's current five-star rate is €4.20 per person per night for up to seven consecutive nights, in force since 1 January 2025, with several exemptions and no 2027 rate yet published. At 104 taxable guests for two nights that is €873.60: minor against the overall budget, but worth accounting for rather than discovering.

Included

The property itself includes the five-hectare garden, Terrace Le Gardenie and the Gardenie rooms, Salone Due Laghi, the Al Molo restaurant, the private pier, the Koseritz bar and frescoed rooms, Terrace Koseritz and the outdoor pool.

A naming note worth carrying into the site visit. Terrace Le Gardenie, Al Molo and the Koseritz bar all appear on the hotel's public website. Salone Due Laghi, Salette Gardenie, Salone Affreschi and Terrace Koseritz appear in the hotel's wedding materials but not on the public site, and the Relais & Châteaux listing calls the bar the Maria Callas cocktail bar rather than the Koseritz. None of that is a problem, but ask to be walked through each named space in person and matched to a floor plan rather than assuming those names map cleanly onto the website.

Not Included

Food, beverages, entertainment and decorations are all excluded, and a further list of items may carry additional contractual pricing: non-standard event spaces, temporary structures or tent installation, additional equipment rental, non-standard service timing, food and beverage for external staff and suppliers, logistics, and other bespoke requirements.

The practical reading is that the buyout is the hotel and accommodation layer of the wedding, not a turnkey event price.

Villa Cortine carries one of the highest fixed venue costs among the Lake Garda properties couples compare, but that fixed cost also includes accommodation for up to 104 guests, which most of its competitors do not. For 2027:

• 100 guests: approximately €285,000 to €400,000

• 180 guests: approximately €360,000 to €520,000

The 180-guest row assumes Villa Cortine confirms a wedding capacity at that level. The hotel publishes no maximum and the approximately 180 figure comes from third-party sources, so treat it as the most provisional of the three.

Included: two-night buyout, on-site accommodation, breakfast, welcome dinner, aperitif, wedding dinner, open bar, planner, florals and design, furniture and event rentals, lighting, sound and production, photography and video, music, guest transport, ceremony costs, typical supplier meals and logistics, and contingency.

Excluded: guest flights, off-site hotel rooms, attire, rings, honeymoon, major international entertainment, large-scale custom construction, and IVA or other taxes if subsequently added to venue or vendor quotations.

There is considerable room above these ranges: Villa Cortine describes its food-and-beverage prices as starting from, and a large floral installation, custom tenting or an elaborate three-day programme could push the total materially higher.

The fixed-cost economics are worth understanding in their own right. Going from 100 to 150 guests does not add another €90,000 of venue rental, because the hotel already belongs to the couple. Almost all of the increase comes from food, drink, production and transport. That makes Villa Cortine relatively more rational as the guest count rises, provided the venue confirms the spaces and the rain plan work for the larger number.

This is the biggest unresolved issue at the venue, and it deserves to be stated plainly. Villa Cortine sets a minimum of 100 wedding guests and does not publish a maximum. Its public website carries no wedding capacity at all, in English or Italian, and no seated capacity for any individual room.

What exists is third-party. Two current wedding sources, WeddingBox Lake Garda and My Italian Lake Wedding, put receptions at approximately 180 guests, the latter as a range of 80 to 180. Event-industry listings syndicated from Cvent describe five meeting rooms holding 190 people in aggregate, alongside a 54-room inventory that conflicts with the hotel's own current figure of 52. RoamRecs could not re-verify a room-by-room breakdown from any current source, so until Villa Cortine supplies a floor plan, no per-space seated capacity in circulation should be relied on.

The Principal Spaces

• Terrace Le Gardenie and the Gardenie rooms. The most important part of the wedding operation. The hotel describes Le Gardenie as a terrace overlooking Lake Garda in the warmer months, and the event has to move to the indoor Le Gardenie at midnight, so it is central to the late-night plan whether or not it is used earlier.
• Salone Due Laghi. A principal indoor room in the hotel's wedding materials and the space most often cited as the wet-weather option. It does not appear on the hotel's public website and no seated wedding capacity for it could be verified. Ask for both.
• Restaurant Al Molo. A lakefront restaurant beside the pier, described by the hotel as its informal grill and bar with meat and fish cooked over wood embers. Well suited to a welcome lunch or relaxed secondary event, though no wedding capacity is published.
• Koseritz bar, Salone Affreschi and Terrace Koseritz. Grouped around the historic villa, giving smaller-scale indoor and terrace alternatives.
• The private pier. A 500-square-metre jetty the hotel presents as an event venue in its own right. Clear value for photographs, guest arrivals and boat movements, although whether it can host a full ceremony or reception is not stated.
• The five-hectare gardens. Mature trees, statues, fountains, lawns, terraces and lake views. The hotel's own photography shows outdoor ceremonies, long dinner tables and evening receptions across the grounds, which demonstrates how the estate has been used but is not evidence of current capacity or permission for a specific setup.

A Realistic Wedding-Day Flow

• Ceremony: a garden or terrace overlooking Lake Garda, symbolically rather than legally
• Cocktails: another part of the park, Terrace Le Gardenie or a lakefront setting
• Dinner: outdoors in good weather, with Salone Due Laghi or another approved interior configuration as the backup
• Cake and first dance: garden, terrace or lakefront before midnight
• Dancing: outdoors until midnight, then inside Le Gardenie until 2 a.m.

One genuine advantage of a five-hectare site is that the wedding does not have to happen in one place. Guests can be moved through different parts of the property across the evening, which is a large part of what the buyout is actually buying.

The photographs below come from Villa Cortine Palace's own current materials and show the spaces a wedding weekend would actually use. Two things to keep in mind. Images of outdoor dinners and ceremonies demonstrate how the estate has been used, not what is currently permitted or how many people fit. And the interiors matter more here than at most venues, because the party has to move inside after midnight, so look at the frescoed rooms as a reception setting rather than as decoration.

Villa Cortine appears considerably stronger in bad weather than many historic Lake Garda villas, but its current first-party materials do not publish a seated indoor wedding capacity. A Cvent listing gives Salone Due Laghi a banquet capacity of 190 and Le Gardenie a maximum capacity of 200, but that same listing uses a 54-room hotel inventory rather than Villa Cortine's current 52 rooms. We would therefore treat those numbers as useful evidence that substantial indoor capacity exists, not as current contractual wedding capacities.

What to Get Confirmed

For an exact guest count, ask the venue to show the indoor ceremony location and seated capacity, the indoor cocktail location, the seated dinner capacity, the capacity with a full band or DJ setup in the room, dance-floor size, bar locations and service stations, whether dinner and dancing require a room turnover, whether guests must move between buildings in rain, and whether covered walkways are provided.

The last two matter more than they sound. A property spread across five hectares with several separate buildings can have plenty of indoor seats and still deliver a poor wet-weather guest experience if 150 people have to cross open ground between them.

Are Tents Allowed?

Non-standard spaces and temporary structure installation are named as items to be defined in the contractual annex and priced separately, which suggests temporary weather structures can at least be discussed. It does not say where they may go, what dimensions apply, whether flooring or anchoring is permitted in the historic gardens, or whether the hotel requires a particular supplier. Do not assume a marquee is available simply because the grounds are large.

For a 100-person wedding, the interior inventory makes a workable plan very likely. For 150 to 180 guests, do not sign without seeing it drawn. A venue starting at €160,000 for two nights should be able to produce a wet-weather floor plan before the contract becomes non-refundable, and a couple asking for one is not being difficult.

Accommodation is Villa Cortine's biggest structural advantage over its Lake Garda competitors.

The 2027 buyout includes all 52 rooms, with a stated maximum of 104 overnight guests. The hotel's current website and its Relais & Châteaux listing both give 52 rooms and suites, spread between the main building and the neoclassical villa. Some older and third-party pages still say 53 or 54; RoamRecs uses 52, the figure in the current first-party materials.

Categories run from superior lake-view rooms and deluxe Villa Koseritz rooms through junior suites, garden and lake-view suites, and higher-category rooms with private terraces or mini pools. Breakfast and housekeeping are included for overnighting guests.

What 104 Beds Mean for the Wedding

At the 100-person minimum, Villa Cortine can in theory accommodate the entire wedding on site. That is rare for a traditional Italian villa wedding and it is the single fact most likely to justify the price.

• At 120 guests, only a small overflow group needs another hotel
• At 150 guests, around 46 people need off-site accommodation if the hotel is fully occupied
• At 180 guests, around 76 need somewhere else to stay

The real number is usually higher than the arithmetic suggests. Room configurations, children, single occupancy, vendors and guests who will not share all reduce how efficiently 52 rooms absorb a guest list, so build the rooming list early rather than assuming 104.

For a 100-person wedding, put everyone there if the rooming works. For a larger celebration, assign Villa Cortine to the couple, immediate family, the wedding party, closest friends and anyone with a job to do in wedding-day preparation. Keeping that core group together is what dramatically reduces wedding-day transport.

Sirmione has a large hotel inventory, but the peninsula's restricted traffic zone means the best overflow option is not automatically the hotel physically closest to Villa Cortine. The official hotel consortium lists roughly 60 accommodations across Sirmione, including the historic centre, the peninsula and Colombare and Lugana.

Keep a Small Overflow Group in Sirmione

Socially the easier answer. Guests can walk to the old town, the lake and the thermal baths without a car, and the transfer to Villa Cortine is short enough to handle on foot or by minibus. Good candidates include the five-star Grand Hotel Terme at the entrance to the historic centre, Hotel Catullo inside the old town, Hotel Continental Thermae and Spa toward the northern end of the peninsula, and smaller central options such as Casa Scaligeri. This works well for an overflow group of 20 to 40 people.

Put a Larger Overflow Group in Desenzano

For weddings closer to 150 or 180 guests, Desenzano del Garda is often easier operationally. It has its own railway station on the Milan to Venice corridor, more straightforward road access and a larger urban hotel base. The tradeoff is transport: guests there need organised transfers to and from Villa Cortine, which for a large group is still usually easier than moving several dozen individual cars through Sirmione's restricted historic centre.

The RoamRecs Recommendation

Keep the wedding party and family at Villa Cortine, put a small overflow group inside Sirmione so they can walk, and only move to Desenzano when the overflow is large enough to justify a coach. Splitting guests across three or four towns around the lake is the arrangement that reliably goes wrong here, because every additional base multiplies the transport problem the ZTL already creates.

Catering and Vendors

Hotel catering is mandatory on the wedding day and on at least one additional event day. The published per-person prices strongly indicate the hotel runs the catering programme itself rather than allowing free choice of an outside wedding caterer. Whether an external caterer can ever be approved, particularly for cultural or religious menus, is worth asking directly; the safe planning assumption is that Villa Cortine handles the food.

Whether a professional planner is compulsory is not stated. At this budget and this level of complexity, use one regardless: the couple is managing a hotel buyout, ZTL permits, supplier vehicle restrictions, a multi-space wedding, weather planning, a midnight indoor move and potentially 100 to 180 international guests.

Nor is there a published approved-vendor list, or any statement on whether couples may freely choose their florist, photographer, videographer, band, DJ, production company, lighting supplier, furniture rental company or boat operator. Ask for the 2027 supplier policy before contracting anyone. Food and beverage for external staff and suppliers is specifically identified as something to be priced in the contractual annex, which at a large wedding becomes a meaningful line, so ask for the per-person supplier-meal rate and which vendors must be fed.

Music and Curfew

Villa Cortine's rule is unusually clear, which is welcome. Outdoor areas must close at midnight. Until then, music may be played outside at a moderate volume. At midnight the event must move indoors to Le Gardenie, where all windows must remain closed, music must stay at a moderate volume, and the event may continue until 2 a.m.

One third-party source publishes a 1:45 a.m. finish. The hotel's own 2027 terms are more recent and more authoritative, so 2 a.m. is the figure to plan against and the number to have written into the contract.

For a historic Italian destination venue this is a relatively good late-night arrangement, allowing a real indoor afterparty rather than a midnight hard stop. The open question is what moderate volume means operationally: ask whether a decibel limit applies, and whether a full live band can continue inside after midnight or whether the late portion is better suited to a DJ.

Symbolic ceremonies are clearly part of Villa Cortine's wedding offering, and documented weddings regularly use the grounds. A legally binding civil ceremony is a different question, and the answer is currently no, or at least not without confirmation from the Comune.

Sirmione's official wedding information lists seven designated municipal ceremony locations: Parco Tomelleri, Parco Callas, Spiaggia delle Muse, Giardino Grazia Deledda, Piazzale Orti Manara, Casa del Pescatore and Palazzo Callas. Villa Cortine is not among them. Parco Callas was separately listed as closed for renovation until the end of June 2026, so couples drawn to that location should confirm it has reopened.

The practical position is that a symbolic ceremony at Villa Cortine is available, a legally binding civil ceremony on the estate is not currently verified, and a legally binding civil ceremony elsewhere in Sirmione is straightforward. Palazzo Callas in Piazza Carducci is the most likely practical choice, close enough that a small legal ceremony and a symbolic ceremony on the estate can sit in the same day without much difficulty.

If a legally binding on-site ceremony matters, ask Villa Cortine and the Comune di Sirmione together whether the property can be temporarily authorised for a specific date. Do not treat a planner, a photographer or a historic wedding on the property as evidence that a ceremony there was legally binding.

Villa Cortine is easier to reach internationally than many northern Lake Garda venues, but Sirmione introduces one significant complication: its historic centre is a controlled traffic zone.

Flying and Arriving by Train

Sirmione's official tourism portal identifies Verona Catullo and Bergamo Orio al Serio as the nearest airports, with Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate and Venice Marco Polo also used. Verona Villafranca is the best overall choice and the most convenient for European guests; Bergamo is useful for low-cost routes; the Milan airports offer better long-haul connectivity at the cost of a longer transfer; Venice works for guests combining the wedding with northeastern Italy.

Sirmione has no station of its own. The closest are Desenzano del Garda-Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda, both on the Milan to Venice corridor and served by regional, Intercity and high-speed trains roughly hourly, with taxis or buses continuing from there. Desenzano is the more useful of the two for guests arriving from Milan.

The Sirmione ZTL

Sirmione's historic centre is a Zona a Traffico Limitato. Vehicles must be authorised before entering, with their number plates registered in the access system, and the Comune re-issues the regulating ordinance seasonally.

During events the municipality allows a request for a maximum of 10 historic-centre entry permits, with separate permits possible for external suppliers. Vehicles are prohibited outright if they exceed a height of 2.70 metres, a width of 2.20 metres, a length of 6 metres, or a gross loaded weight of 3.5 tonnes.

That effectively rules out driving full-size wedding coaches to the hotel door. Guest transport has to be designed around minibuses, cars and walking, not a single 50-seat coach.

Parking, Taxis and Supplier Access

Monte Baldo parking handles vehicles that cannot stay inside the historic centre, and spaces there may be reserved in advance for a fee. The Comune's 2026 mobility plan separately requires advance reservations for tourist buses using Monte Baldo during the tourism season. A paid shuttle can then run guests in, and that whole chain needs designing before any transport information goes out.

The useful exception is taxis. Sirmione's official tourism authority confirms they may enter the historic centre and take guests directly to their booked accommodation, from a rank near the InfoPoint on Viale Marconi. That makes private transfers attractive for the couple and parents, elderly guests, VIP arrivals, guests with mobility limitations and small-group airport runs.

Supplier logistics may be harder than guest logistics. Florists, production companies, bands, lighting crews and rental companies may all need temporary permits, requested from the local police under municipal deadlines, and Villa Cortine explicitly says it is not responsible for requesting or obtaining those permits. That is detail the planner or production company should own from the start, and a fair question to put to any planner being interviewed for this venue.

No, provided the weekend is structured properly, and at this venue a car is often actively unhelpful.

For guests staying at Villa Cortine, Sirmione is walkable, the historic centre is next door and the hotel already provides the main wedding-weekend setting. Guests staying elsewhere in central Sirmione can also manage without one. Guests in Desenzano or elsewhere around the lake should use organised wedding transport rather than driving themselves.

For independent sightseeing around Lake Garda a rental car is genuinely useful, but couples should make very clear in their guest communications that private vehicles cannot simply be driven into Sirmione's historic centre without authorisation. This is the detail guests most often get wrong, and they usually get it wrong on the wedding day.

Boat transport is worth exploring as well. Villa Cortine has its own private pier and Sirmione is served by public and private lake transport. A private boat arrival costs more than a coach transfer, but here the lakefront access is real infrastructure rather than decoration and can become a genuine part of the guest transport plan.

The 2027 pricing gives couples an unusually simple seasonal choice. April and October cost €80,000 per night; May through September costs €90,000. The €10,000 nightly difference means a two-night shoulder-season wedding saves €20,000 on the buyout. Whether that saving is worth taking depends almost entirely on how important the gardens are to the wedding.

• April. Qualifies for the lower rate. Cool evenings and less certainty the wedding can live outdoors all day, so it suits couples who actively like Villa Cortine's interiors rather than treating them as emergency backup.
• May. One of the strongest months. Highs of roughly 21°C to 23°C, gardens fully active, no midsummer heat. Rain is still a real possibility, so the indoor plan needs to be completely resolved before booking.
• June. Probably the best overall month for a celebration built around outdoor cocktails and dinner. Highs around 26°C to 27°C, long days, guests comfortable outside all evening. Full €90,000 rate.
• July and August. Best for summer lake conditions but the hottest months, with July averages reaching approximately 29°C. Schedule the ceremony later in the afternoon and provide shade and water. Sirmione is also at peak tourist load, and the municipality expands its ZTL, pedestrianisation and traffic measures accordingly, which makes logistics less forgiving rather than impractical.
• September. The other first choice. Highs of roughly 24°C to 25°C, with mid-August through early October identified in climate data as one of Sirmione's strongest stretches for outdoor conditions. Evenings shorten and rain risk rises, but temperatures beat midsummer.
• October. The value option. Highs drop to roughly 18°C and the indoor plan becomes much more important. Compelling for a 100-person wedding with an interior layout the couple genuinely likes; a harder call for a 180-person celebration built around dinner under the trees.

The RoamRecs pick: start with June or September, with May a close third. April and October become interesting because the buyout falls by €20,000 across two nights, but at this overall price point a shoulder-season date is only worth choosing if the couple would be equally happy with an indoor wedding.

Villa Cortine is unusually clear on price and unusually quiet on capacity, so the due-diligence list skews toward floor plans, tax and logistics.

Money and Contract

• Is IVA included in the €80,000 and €90,000 nightly rates, and in the published food-and-beverage starting prices?
• What are the remaining payment dates after the non-refundable first-night deposit, and what are the cancellation and postponement terms?
• Is a refundable damage or security deposit required, and are any compulsory service charges or gratuities added to the final bill?
• Are there food-and-beverage minimums beyond the published per-person starting prices?
• If we book three nights and hold no formal event on one day, does the €6,000 daily minimum apply?
• What exactly qualifies as the mandatory catering service on the additional event day?

Capacity and the Rain Plan

• What is your confirmed maximum wedding capacity for 2027?
• What is the exact seated capacity of Salone Due Laghi, and of Le Gardenie indoors and on the terrace?
• Can you provide a wet-weather floor plan for our exact guest count, showing dinner tables, band or DJ, bar, service stations and dance floor?
• Where would an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour move in rain, and can dinner and dancing share one indoor room or is a turnover required?
• Would guests have to cross open ground between buildings in rain, and are covered walkways provided?
• If we use Le Gardenie after midnight, how many guests fit with a full band, bar and dance floor?
• Are marquees or temporary covered structures permitted, and if so where, at what size and at what additional cost?

Vendors, Logistics and Ceremony

• Is a wedding planner compulsory, are any suppliers mandatory or restricted to an approved list, and can we use an outside caterer for specialist menus?
• What is the supplier-meal price, and which vendors must be fed?
• What are the vendor setup and breakdown windows, and can equipment be left overnight?
• Which party is responsible for obtaining ZTL permits for each vendor, and how many guest vehicle permits can actually be issued for our date?
• What is the largest shuttle permitted to reach the hotel, and where do larger coaches load, unload and wait?
• Can the private pier be used for scheduled guest arrivals, and what boat size, operating hour or noise restrictions apply?
• Is there a decibel limit inside Le Gardenie after midnight, and can a live band play until 2 a.m. or is the late portion DJ only?
• What are the current rules for fireworks, candles, cold sparks and open flames?
• Can a legally binding civil wedding currently take place on the property, and if not, will you coordinate with the Comune on a municipal location?

Villa Cortine occupies an unusual position in the Lake Garda market because it combines a historic estate setting with enough hotel rooms to sleep more than 100 people. Most alternatives solve one half of that equation rather than both.

Isola del Garda

Better if the island setting itself is the point and you can give up on-site accommodation entirely. Its official wedding information allows both civil and symbolic ceremonies and publishes what Villa Cortine does not: the Greenhouse takes up to 100 guests, the Loggia holds a maximum of 50 for a reception and up to 100 seated for a ceremony. There is no accommodation on the island, the wedding depends entirely on boat transport, music must end at midnight and the last boat leaves by 00:30. A far more destination-specific experience, and a substantially more complicated hospitality operation.

Villa Bettoni, Bogliaco di Gargnano

Better if you want an 18th-century private palazzo rather than a five-star hotel. Villa Bettoni's official site confirms the historic residence and formal gardens host weddings and private events but publishes no capacity figures at all; a current specialist reports up to approximately 200 indoors and 300 outdoors, which should be verified with the villa directly. The decisive difference is accommodation: Villa Bettoni is fundamentally an event property, while Villa Cortine hands over 52 hotel rooms.

Grand Hotel Fasano, Gardone Riviera

Better if you like the full-service Lake Garda hotel model but do not need Villa Cortine's scale. Fasano's current official private-event information gives its Giardino Room 80 banquet guests or 100 standing, in a 156-square-metre space divisible in two. Villa Cortine's 100-person minimum effectively places the two in different size categories.

Grand Hotel Gardone: not currently available

Worth flagging because it still appears on Lake Garda shortlists. As of August 2026 the property is closed, its website carries a coming-soon notice describing a full renovation with a planned 2027 reopening under Hilton's LXR Hotels and Resorts brand with 160 rooms, and its wedding, banqueting and meeting pages return errors. Any 250-person Salone delle Feste capacity still circulating comes from pages that no longer exist. Do not shortlist it for 2027 without speaking to the new operator.

Comparing Across the Northern Italian Lakes

Couples at this price point often end up comparing lakes rather than only venues, and the Lake Como cluster answers the same brief in several ways. Villa d'Este is the closest structural comparison: another grand lakeside hotel where the rooms and the event sit in one contract. Villa Erba suits large weddings needing serious indoor capacity but has no meaningful guest accommodation, so the rooming problem moves off site entirely. Villa Pizzo and Villa Lario Resort sit lower on the price ladder, and Villa Aura del Lago suits a smaller private-villa wedding with a handful of on-site bedrooms.

The Main Difference

Villa Cortine's proposition is not simply a historic villa on Lake Garda. It is a historic villa, a five-hectare private park, a central Sirmione location, private lake access, five-star hotel service and accommodation for up to 104 guests, all inside one contract. That combination is why the starting price is so high, and why the venue can make sense for the right wedding.
