Domaine du Mont Leuze sits nearly 600 metres above Villefranche-sur-Mer, on a 13-hectare estate where the landscape does most of the decorating. You marry facing Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, drink under the trees, then sit down to dinner on the Toit du Monde as the lights come up over Nice. The Provençal château is a handsome backdrop, but the reason to book is the way the view changes each time you move.

Two things to understand before you fall for the photos. First, this is an evening venue, not a weekend house: summer 2027 rental starts at €18,240, and the 30 beds on the estate are yours for the wedding night only. Second, the terrace seats 300 but the largest indoor room seats 160. Plan around the second number and Mont Leuze is one of the best-value big views on the Riviera.

The RoamRecs Take

Think of Mont Leuze as the big night of a Riviera trip, not the place everyone lives for three days.

What it does better than its neighbors is movement. The Vista is tight and focused on Cap Ferrat. The Terrazzita, under the trees, lets everyone exhale. The Toit du Monde then opens the whole coast up for dinner. Most venues ask you to invent three atmospheres in one garden. Here they are already built.

It is also unusually flexible on rooms. You can rent the evening and nothing else, take just the two preparation suites, or add all 30 beds. If your families already have a favorite hotel in Villefranche or Cap Ferrat, you are not paying for bedrooms nobody wanted.

Our sweet spot is 80 to 120 guests. You stay in the lowest rental band, and if the weather turns, the main indoor room takes everyone with space left for a band. Up to 150 still works with a tighter rain plan. Past 160, a wet day means dinner in two rooms, and that is a different wedding from the one you booked.

Best for: couples who want a private evening with a serious view and are happy for guests to sleep on the coast.

Think twice if: you want everyone under one roof all weekend, dancing outdoors until dawn, or a guest list of 60. The rental does not shrink with it.

How Much Does a Domaine du Mont Leuze Wedding Cost?

The 2027 rental

From May through September 2027, tax included:

  • Up to 120 guests: €18,240
  • 121–200 guests: €21,240
  • 201–300 guests: €25,600

The price is the same on a Tuesday as on a Saturday, so there is no weekday bargain to chase in summer. October through April is quoted individually at a discount, which is worth a conversation if you like the indoor rooms.

The rental buys the three terraces, the château, the pool and gardens from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., along with security staff, two venue managers and cleaning. It does not buy food, furniture, flowers, music, bedrooms or your planner.

The number to watch is 120. Guest 121 costs €3,000 before they have eaten anything, because the whole booking moves up a band. If your list is hovering at 125, this is the best excuse you will get to trim it.

The Extras That Actually Come Up

  • All 30 beds, wedding night: €3,200
  • Guests arriving before 6:30 p.m.: €80 per hour per staff member (€320 per hour up to 120 guests)
  • Suppliers arriving before 1 p.m.: €270 per hour
  • Party past 2:30 a.m.: €1,080 per hour, to 5 a.m. at the latest
  • Next-day brunch or pool party, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.: €6,820
  • Bringing an outside caterer: €3,000 kitchen fee plus 10% of the catering bill
  • Cloakroom or toilet attendant: €480 each

All prices include tax.

Almost every couple pays for early access. A 6:30 p.m. start is late for a ceremony, so plan on guests from 4:30 p.m. and suppliers from mid-morning if your florals are ambitious. Together that adds roughly €1,500, and it is money well spent.

One date for the diary: a €7,000 deposit is due 10 days before the wedding, so plan your cash for the final fortnight around it.

Estimated Total Wedding Budget

For a summer 2027 wedding with all 30 beds, a 4:30 p.m. guest arrival and the standard 2:30 a.m. finish, we would budget:

  • 80 guests: €75,000–€130,000
  • 120 guests: €90,000–€150,000
  • 150 guests: €105,000–€175,000

At 120 guests, the venue side comes to about €23,000. The rest is yours to shape: food and drink at €230–€360 a head is the biggest line, followed by sound, lighting and rentals, flowers, planning, and photo and video. Shuttles, music and a contingency fill out the total.

The low end is a restrained design, a sensible bar and local suppliers. A live band, overhead florals or premium spirits will push you past the top. The ranges cover the wedding day itself, so add a welcome dinner, brunch and guest hotels on top.

On brunch: €6,820 is the venue fee before anyone eats. For 120 guests that is reasonable. For the 30 people who slept on the estate, it is about €227 a head for an empty garden, and a long lunch on the Villefranche waterfront will be a better send-off.

Capacity and Event Spaces

  • Vista: Ceremony facing Cap Ferrat. 250 guests.
  • Terrazzita: Cocktails under the trees, or a small dinner. 280 standing; 80 seated.
  • Toit du Monde: Dinner on the 600 m² main terrace. 300 seated.
  • Château, main room: Indoor dinner and the late party. 160 seated; 250 standing.
  • Château, second room: Overflow, bar or dance floor. 80 seated; 150 standing.
  • Pool and gardens: Brunch or a poolside drinks hour. 150 guests.

Vista. Guests walk down toward the ceremony with the sea ahead of them, which gives the arrival a sense of occasion most terraces lack. Keep the florals low. Anything tall competes with a view you are paying for.

Terrazzita. Shaded, enclosed and calmer than the other two. Put real seating here as well as standing tables, because guests will have been on their feet since the shuttle. At 80 or fewer you could dine here, though we would still take the Toit du Monde.

Toit du Monde. The main event. The terrace curves along the château front with Nice below, so dinner runs from daylight through sunset into city lights without anyone moving. Set the top table where the speeches have the view behind them.

The château. Two air-conditioned reception rooms open directly onto the Toit du Monde. They are separate rooms, so think of them as 160 plus 80, never 240 at one sitting. After midnight the main room becomes your dance floor.

What Is the Rain Plan at Mont Leuze?

If one shared dinner matters to you, treat 160 as the real capacity, whatever the terrace holds.

  • Up to 120 guests: the main room takes dinner comfortably with space for a band and a bar. The second room handles drinks. This is a rain plan you can relax about.
  • 121 to 160: dinner fits, but tightly. Expect tables to be cleared for dancing, and use the second room to hold guests with a drink while that happens.
  • More than 160: dinner splits across two rooms. Speeches, toasts and the feeling of one party all suffer. Size the guest list with that in mind.

Because the rooms open onto the terrace, a showery evening can still borrow the view through the doors. Wind is the less obvious risk at this height, so tall centerpieces and hanging installations need a sturdier plan than they would on the coast.

At the site visit, spend as long indoors as you do on the terrace, and ask to see photographs of a seated wedding your size in the main room.

Accommodation: 30 Guests, One Night

The estate sleeps 30 on the wedding night only. All prices include tax.

  • Villa Les Oliviers: five bedrooms, sleeps 10. €1,000.
  • Villa Les Pins: five bedrooms, sleeps 10. €1,000.
  • Three Chêne studios: sleep 2 each. €200 each.
  • Bridal Suite and Suite Les Cyprès: sleep 2 each. €400 for daytime preparation in both; €600 with the night.
  • Everything: sleeps 30. €3,200.

At €3,200 for 30 people, this is the easiest yes in the budget. Give the suites to the couple, a villa to each family, and the studios to the friends most likely to close the dance floor.

The catch is the single night. Anyone sleeping here still needs a hotel before the wedding, which means either packing up on the wedding morning or keeping the hotel room and paying twice. Most families prefer to keep the hotel and treat the villa as a very convenient crash pad. Have the planner handle breakfast and the luggage runs.

Where Other Guests Should Stay

Pick one main base and at most one secondary. Guests scattered across Nice, Èze, Monaco and assorted rentals turn the shuttle plan into a puzzle.

Welcome Hotel, Villefranche-sur-Mer. Our first choice for the inner circle. Thirty-five rooms with balconies over the bay, the old town at the door and the waterfront restaurants a few steps away. About 20 to 30 minutes from the venue.

Hotel Carlton, Beaulieu-sur-Mer. A four-star boutique hotel with a pool, good for guests who want downtime between events and easy access to Cap Ferrat. About 25 to 35 minutes.

NH Nice. The room-block workhorse: 152 rooms in eastern Nice, on the right side of the city for the drive up. It is a city hotel, not a Riviera hideaway, and for a hundred guests that is a fair trade. About 25 to 40 minutes.

Guests who book elsewhere can meet the shuttle at one of these three.

Catering, Coordination and the Party

Caterers. The house list includes A Roca Gourmet, Pavillon Traiteur and Helen Traiteur. Their proposals usually bundle food, drink, staff, furniture and tableware, so compare the whole package and not the menu price. Going off-list costs €3,000 for the kitchen plus 10% of the entire catering bill, which wipes out most savings. Unless you have a chef you cannot marry without, stay on the list.

Planner. A coordinator is required, and you will want one. The two venue managers run the property, not your day, and a wedding that moves through four spaces needs someone calling the cues. Every supplier needs the Domaine's sign-off, so send your vendor list for approval before paying deposits.

Sound. The Domaine requires its own audiovisual setup, arranged through Azur Music Event, covering the ceremony, cocktails, dinner and the indoor party. Budget it as a separate line from your DJ or band, and put your performers in touch with them early.

The midnight move. Outdoor music ends at midnight and the party continues inside until 2:30 a.m., or as late as 5 a.m. if you pay for it. Handled well, the move is a second wind. Have the indoor bar open and the DJ already playing by 11:45 p.m. so guests drift in toward the music. Run a shuttle at midnight for grandparents and one at the close for everyone else.

Ceremony and Accessibility

Plan the Vista ceremony as symbolic and do the paperwork at home, which is what most destination couples here do. A legal French wedding goes through the Villefranche-sur-Mer mairie and comes with residency conditions.

The estate is built on several levels, and the walk down to the Vista is part of its charm. For grandparents, wheelchair users and anyone in heels, walk the full route at your site visit: parking, ceremony, cocktails, dinner, bathrooms and the indoor room. Then decide where a golf cart, a helping hand or a reserved front row is needed. Light the paths well. It is dark up here once the sun goes.

Getting There and Wedding Transportation

Fly into Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE). The venue is above the coast, so every journey ends with a drive up the hill.

  • Nice airport: 30–45 minutes
  • Central or eastern Nice: 25–40 minutes
  • Villefranche waterfront: 20–30 minutes
  • Beaulieu-sur-Mer: 25–35 minutes
  • Èze village: 15–25 minutes
  • Monaco: 30–45 minutes

Allow extra for summer traffic and for loading a coach.

The coastal train is useful for getting guests between Nice, Villefranche and Beaulieu during the trip. It does nothing for the wedding night.

Do Wedding Guests Need a Car?

No, provided you run shuttles, and you should. Taxis are scarce on the hill at 2 a.m. Book private transfers for the couple and close family, then coaches from the hotel base with two returns: one at midnight, one at the finish. Let your transport company look at the road before fixing vehicle sizes. There is parking on the estate for anyone who insists on driving, and a helipad for anyone who insists on more.

Best Time for a Mont Leuze Wedding

June is our pick, then late May or early September.

June gives you long light, warm evenings and highs in the mid-20s without the full weight of summer. July and August are the driest months and reliably hot, so push the ceremony later and build in shade and water. September stays warm but brings a real chance of rain, and October is properly wet, so off-season dates only suit couples who like the indoor rooms.

For 2027, check hotel rates before committing to dates near the Cannes Film Festival (May 11–22) or the Monaco Grand Prix (June 4–6). The venue will be fine. Your guests' room rates will not.

Building the Weekend

The night before: stay on the water. With no rooms on the estate until the wedding night, hold the welcome party near the hotels. In Villefranche, La Mère Germaine has been on the quay since 1938 and takes groups of up to 120. Les Marinières, on the sand at the far end of the bay, hosts private events for up to 200. Either gives guests the harbor on Friday and the hilltop on Saturday, which is the right way round.

The wedding day.

  • Morning: Preparations in the suites; suppliers set up
  • 4:30 p.m.: Shuttles arrive, welcome drinks
  • 5:00 p.m.: Ceremony on the Vista
  • 5:45 p.m.: Cocktails on the Terrazzita
  • 7:15 p.m.: Dinner on the Toit du Monde
  • 11:45 p.m.: Party moves into the château
  • 2:30 a.m.: Last shuttles

In high summer, slide everything 30 to 45 minutes later for the heat. In September, hold these times to keep the light.

The day after. The pool and gardens make a lovely brunch for up to 150 if most of your guests are staying on. Think of the pool as scenery for a long, lazy lunch. For a smaller group, book a long lunch by the water and let people leave when they like.

Questions to Ask at a Site Visit

Spend as much time indoors and on the paths as on the main terrace. Four questions matter more than another look at the view.

Where does our whole wedding happen if it rains? Ask to be walked through ceremony, drinks, dinner and dancing indoors, room by room. You are looking for a second version of the day that you would still enjoy.

Which of our guests should sleep here? See the villas and suites, then ask about check-in, checkout and luggage. Decide who benefits from skipping the 2 a.m. shuttle.

What is our all-in venue cost at the hours we want? Bring your guest count and timeline. Early access, sound and any brunch change the figure more than people expect.

How do the payments work? Get the payment schedule and cancellation terms in writing before you sign.

Similar Riviera Wedding Venues to Compare

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild: for a more formal architectural setting

Choose it if the architecture and formal gardens matter as much as the sea. It is grander and more structured than Mont Leuze, and like Mont Leuze it will not house your guests.

Château de la Chèvre d'Or: for a smaller, hotel-centered celebration

Better for an intimate, restaurant-led celebration in Èze. Its Les Remparts restaurant takes 31 to 80 guests, with hotel rooms threaded through the village. A different scale from a 200-person terrace.

Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel: for integrated hospitality

Better if you want the hotel to do everything: rooms, catering, planning support, even a full buyout. You pay for that integration, and you trade the hilltop panorama for the water's edge.
