Plated and prix-fixe Thanksgiving dinners
These are the calmer, more celebratory meals: a set menu, table service and no buffet line. They suit couples, small families and anyone who'd rather Thanksgiving feel like a dinner out than an event.

Elements at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain
5700 E McDonald Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253, USA
Elements looks out over Paradise Valley from the slopes of Camelback Mountain, and its three-course menu is the most complete on this list. Starters include burrata and prime beef carpaccio, and mains run from turkey roulade to beef tenderloin, scallops, branzino Veracruz and a vegan king trumpet mushroom entrée, so mixed tables are easy. It's the one we'd book for a proper sit-down Thanksgiving, so reserve early. Details: 11:30 a.m.–8 p.m. $175 adults, $55 children 12 and under. 5700 E McDonald Dr, Paradise Valley.

Geordie's at Wrigley Mansion
2501 E Telawa Trail, Phoenix, AZ 85016, USA
The hilltop mansion does half the work before the first course lands, which makes Geordie's the most memorable old-Phoenix room for visiting family or a couple's Thanksgiving. Dinner is four courses with a few choices at each, and wine pairings are available. Details: Noon–6 p.m. $175 adults, $45 children 5–12, free for 4 and under. 2501 E Telawa Trail, Phoenix.

LON's at The Hermosa Inn
5532 N Palo Cristi Rd, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253, USA
LON's is the romantic pick: a historic adobe inn wrapped in gardens and fireplaces, with a patio that's lovely if late November cooperates. The three-course prix fixe has several choices per course and a far more intimate pace than any resort ballroom. Details: Noon–8 p.m. $135 adults, $35 children. 5532 N Palo Cristi Rd, Paradise Valley.

Hearth '61 at Mountain Shadows
5445 E Lincoln Dr, Scottsdale, AZ 85253, USA
Hearth '61 gives a mixed group real options beyond turkey, with pork chop, agnolotti, short rib, salmon and New York strip all on the three-course menu. It's polished without tipping into formal, which makes it a safe bet when grandparents and twentysomethings share a table. Details: 11 a.m.–8 p.m. $159 adults, $35 children 12 and under. $25 per person deposit, refundable up to 48 hours out. 5445 E Lincoln Dr, Paradise Valley.

Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen
6114 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85253, USA
Weft & Warp, at Andaz Scottsdale, delivers a resort Thanksgiving for about half the price of the big-name brunches. Starters and sides come family-style, then everyone picks an entrée, from turkey and prime rib to salmon, lobster pappardelle or a vegan cauliflower steak, followed by dessert. Details: Noon–8 p.m. From $95 adults, with supplements on some entrées. Cash-free. Andaz Scottsdale, 6114 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale.

Royal Palms Resort and Spa
5200 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018, USA
Royal Palms lets you choose your Thanksgiving at a single price. Families can book the ballroom buffet with its carving stations, while couples and smaller groups settle into T. Cook's for a quieter three-course dinner on the resort's historic grounds. Details: Buffet 10 a.m.–2 p.m.; T. Cook's 1–8 p.m. Both $175 adults, $75 children 6–12, free for 5 and under. Reservations required. 5200 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix.

Arizona Biltmore
2400 E Missouri Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85016, USA
The Biltmore's brunch is the grand traditional Thanksgiving, served in the Gold Room, the resort's original 1929 dining hall. Details: 11 a.m.–4 p.m. $198 ages 13 and up, $69 ages 4–12, free for 3 and under. Full refunds up to 14 days out. 2400 E Missouri Ave, Phoenix.

The Phoenician
6000 E Camelback Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, USA

For less, Mowry & Cotton and J&G both serve turkey prix fixes later in the day, and The Phoenician Tavern sets out a compact evening buffet. Details: J&G brunch 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. final seating, $235 adults, $110 children 5–12, 72-hour cancellation. Mowry & Cotton 1–9 p.m., $70 prix fixe. J&G dinner 5–9 p.m., $80 prix fixe. Tía Carmen
JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort, 5350 E Marriott Dr, Phoenix, AZ 85054, USA
Tía Carmen brings resort-buffet scale to North Phoenix, so Desert Ridge and North Scottsdale families don't have to cross the Valley. Chef Angelo Sosa's spread covers roast turkey and the classic sides, carving stations, seafood and desserts, and the restaurant's Southwestern cooking gives it more personality than a standard hotel buffet. Details: $169 adults, $49 children. Choose seating times when you book. JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge, 5350 E Marriott Dr, Phoenix.

Arizona Grand Resort & Spa
8000 South Arizona Grand E, Phoenix, AZ 85044, USA
Arizona Grand has the fairest family buffet price on this list. Carved turkey and prime rib, salmon, lamb T-bones, shrimp and the usual sides and desserts come in a tidy midday window, which leaves the evening free for leftovers and football at home. The Scottsdale Resort & Spa
7700 E McCormick Pkwy, Scottsdale, AZ 85258, USA

Details: Ballroom buffet 11 a.m.–3 p.m., $99 adults, $30 children 4–12, free for 3 and under. Litchfield's 2–6 p.m., from $129 adults, $35 children. 300 E Wigwam Blvd, Litchfield Park.

greensGIVING at Green New American Vegetarian

greensGIVING is a fully vegan Thanksgiving built around plant-based comfort food, not a mainstream menu with the turkey taken out. It's plated and full-service with one arrival window, and it moves quickly: most guests finish in 30–40 minutes. The kitchen uses nuts, so flag allergies when you book. Details: Tempe location only; arrive 11:30 a.m.–noon. $79.95 adults, $39.95 children 12 and under. Prepaid and nonrefundable, parties of two or more. 2240 N Scottsdale Rd, Suite 113, Tempe.

There's no location in Phoenix proper, but the Glendale, Chandler, Goodyear and Mesa restaurants put it within reach of most suburbs. Details: 11 a.m.–9 p.m. $29.99 adults, $12.99 kids, dine-in or takeout while supplies last. Pinned at Arrowhead (7606 W Bell Rd, Glendale); also in Chandler, Goodyear and Mesa (Superstition).

Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, 7 E University Dr, Tempe.
Tips for booking Thanksgiving dinner in Phoenix
Pick the format first. Plated dinners at Elements, LON's, Geordie's or Hearth '61 feel like a night out. Buffets at the Biltmore, J&G, Four Seasons or Arizona Grand handle big groups and picky eaters better.
Call for big tables. Online holiday booking is often capped at smaller parties, so phone the restaurant directly for eight or more.
Let location decide. Greater Phoenix is spread out, and a scenic North Scottsdale brunch isn't worth crossing the whole Valley when Paradise Valley, Tempe or the West Valley has a good option closer to home.
