Best Happy Hours in Charleston (2026)

Run a business in this guide, or want yours added? Get in touch. Or get featured.

Charleston's happy-hour problem is timing. Many of the best deals last only an hour, apply only at the bar, or end well before most dinner reservations begin. Get there on time, though, and Charleston is unusually generous: half-price bars, cheap oysters, $5 tiny martinis and waterfront drinks that cost less than a standard cocktail downtown.

We chose 40 places we'd recommend even without the discount. That cuts out a lot of forgettable dollar-off specials and leaves serious cocktail bars, oyster counters, rooftops, breweries and neighborhood spots where the food matters as much as the drinks. If you want a starting point: Share House for the broadest discount, The Grocery when happy hour should turn into dinner, Community Table for half-price drinks across the bridge, The Watch for a rooftop and Matador when it's already late.

Happy Hours on Upper King and in Cannonborough-Elliotborough

This is Charleston's deepest happy-hour stretch, but it rewards punctuality. The Grocery and The Ordinary are short windows worth planning around, O-Ku and Indaco give you two hours, and Share House is the rare deal that starts later instead of ending just as everyone leaves work. Planning a night out instead? See our guide to the best date-night bars and restaurants in Charleston.

Share House

Share House

23 Ann St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Power Hour takes half off the entire bar, crushes included, with $3 chips and salsa or queso alongside. It's Charleston's simplest big discount and one of very few that runs seven days a week. You don't need a reservation, but rolling up at 6:40pm with ten people is not the move. Happy hour: Daily, 6–7pm

The Darling Oyster Bar

The Darling Oyster Bar

513 King St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Cheap oysters and money off draft beer and draft cocktails make The Darling the easiest raw-bar stop on King Street. Take a bar seat, order oysters in rounds, and decide later whether happy hour is turning into dinner. Happy hour: Daily, 4–6pm

The Grocery

The Grocery

4 Cannon St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Half off the kitchen's produce plates and pastas is a much bigger deal than a cheaper house wine. Add $5 drafts and $5 select cocktails like the dirty green tomato martini, and an hour at the bar can cover dinner. Happy hour: Tuesday–Sunday, 5–6pm, at the bar

The Ordinary

The Ordinary

544 King St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Social Hour brings $3 dressed oysters, $8–9 cocktails and cheap beer to the bar of Charleston's grand oyster hall. The bar is walk-in, which makes this the easiest way to experience The Ordinary without booking a full dinner. Happy hour: Daily except Tuesday, 5–6:30pm, at the bar

O-Ku

O-Ku

463 King St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Rolls run $9–11, starters like rock shrimp and dumplings are discounted, and O-Ku's house cocktails come $3 off alongside sake and beer specials. Two hours is generous for Upper King, and this is where to go when everyone wants real food rather than a snack beside a martini. Happy hour: Monday–Wednesday, 5–7pm

Indaco

Indaco

526 King St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

The bar menu centers on a pizza of the day, pork meatballs and marinated olives, with beer, house wine and cocktails discounted. It still feels like an evening at a polished Italian restaurant, but the bill stays closer to neighborhood-bar territory. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 5–7pm, at the bar

Estadio

Estadio

122 Spring St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

A fast, focused hour of 99¢ Gilda pintxos, a $6 snack bowl, and discounted cocktails, sangria and cider porróns. Arrive right at opening and order several things at once. Happy hour: Daily, 5–6pm

Babas on Cannon

Babas on Cannon

11 Cannon St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Babas pours $5 tiny martinis and takes half off bottles of wine, with a bottled-cocktail bucket for sharing. The room is small and relaxed, better suited to a quiet catch-up than a big after-work crowd. Happy hour: Tuesday–Thursday, 4–6pm

Coterie

Coterie

17 Warren St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Cocktails and glasses of wine are $9 and bar bites like pork belly bao run $6–10. The bar-only deal is modest, but the room is one of the prettier ones downtown, which makes it a smart, low-cost start to a date. Happy hour: Tuesday–Saturday, 5–7pm, at the bar

The Cocktail Club

The Cocktail Club

479 King St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Upstairs on King, The Cocktail Club does $7 select cocktails, $5 craft beer and $6 wine, and the window runs later than almost anywhere downtown. Sunday is its own plan: punch bowls are half price from 5pm to midnight. Happy hour: Tuesday–Thursday, 5–8pm; Friday, 5–7pm

Big Gun Burger Shop

Big Gun Burger Shop

137 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

A $10 classic burger with fries is one of downtown's clearest dinner deals, and $3 tacos, $5 house liquor and $2.50 PBRs keep the rest of the tab low. It's a casual Calhoun Street room across from Marion Square where nobody pretends the evening is more complicated than burgers and beer. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–6pm

Happy Hours on Lower King, in the French Quarter and on the Waterfront

South of Calhoun Street there are fewer deep discounts, but the locations do more of the work. Bar167 starts early, Bar Vauté is ideal before dinner, The Watch and The Vendue bring the views, and Matador is the downtown answer to a late-night craving. For more views, see our guide to the best rooftop bars in Charleston.

The Watch Rooftop Kitchen & Spirits

The Watch Rooftop Kitchen & Spirits

75 Wentworth St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

Sunset Hour on The Restoration's rooftop means $7 classic margaritas, Old Fashioneds and daiquiris, $6 house wine and $5 light beers. The view is the draw, but the prices are good enough that this isn't just a scenic recommendation. Happy hour: Monday–Thursday, 4–7pm

Little Palm

Little Palm

237 Meeting St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

The poolside courtyard at The Ryder Hotel feels more like vacation than most downtown happy hours. Cocktails run $8–12, beer is $7, and $10 wings or a $12 smash burger turn the stop into an easy early dinner. Happy hour: Monday–Thursday, 4–6pm

Matador

Matador

235 Meeting St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

The food is the reason to go: $7 salads, quesadillas, Brussels sprouts and bean dip, and $8 nachos, tacos and guacamole. The same menu returns at 10pm every night, giving Charleston one of its few dependable late-night happy hours. Happy hour: Daily, 4–6pm and 10pm–last call

Bar167

Bar167

5 Fulton St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

The early start makes Bar167 good for a long lunch that rolls into drinks or a stop before the rest of downtown fills up. Cheap oysters, a burger, fried calamari and a meze platter come with discounted wine and cocktails, just off King on Fulton Street. Happy hour: Monday–Thursday, 3–5:30pm

Bar Vauté at Brasserie La Banque

Bar Vauté at Brasserie La Banque

1 Broad St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

Order the French Happy Meal: a burger, frites and a martini for $25. The bar sits below street level down Brasserie La Banque's historic staircase and feels far more special than the price, with cocktails, wine and Kronenbourg discounted too. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–6pm

The Rooftop at The Vendue

The Rooftop at The Vendue

19 Vendue Range, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

The Vendue is a view-first happy hour with fair prices: $12 signature cocktails, $9 wine, $6 local beer and $10 flatbreads. The rooftop doesn't take reservations, so get there early on clear evenings. Happy hour: Sunday–Thursday, 4–6pm

Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar

Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar

205 E Bay St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

$3 domestic bottles, $4 Yuengling drafts, $5 oyster shooters and $6 wine make this one of the cheapest drinking windows near the Market. Add some seafood rather than treating it as a beer stop. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–7pm, at the bar

The Establishment

The Establishment

28 Broad St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

$12 martinis and specialty cocktails and glasses of wine from $9 aren't Charleston's cheapest deal, but in one of Broad Street's more polished rooms they're a smart way to start an upscale evening. Happy hour: Tuesday–Saturday, 5–7pm, at the bar

Fleet Landing

Fleet Landing

186 Concord St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

The window is only an hour, but you're drinking $4 domestics, $5 Kölsch, $6 wine and $8 specialty cocktails directly over the harbor. Dinner service starts at 5, so it's easy to stay for seafood. Happy hour: Monday–Thursday, 4–5pm, at the bar

Happy Hours on the Upper Peninsula

Above the crosstown, happy hours get more local and more food-friendly. Several of these keep going on Saturday, which is rare downtown.

The Archer

The Archer

601 Meeting St Ste. 140, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

A serious cocktail bar with an approachable first hour: $10 draft cocktails, martinis, daiquiris and Old Fashioneds, $8 house wine, $6 pilsner and a $5 fried oyster slider. It runs seven days, with a longer window on weekends, which makes it one of the better weekend happy hours on the peninsula. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 5–6pm; Saturday–Sunday, 4–6pm

Bar Mash

Bar Mash

701 E Bay St Ste 100-2, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Bar Mash keeps it casual and cheap, with a $3 daily whiskey, house daiquiri, daily wine, $2.50 High Life drafts and inexpensive bites in the Cigar Factory on East Bay. It's also one of the few good happy hours still running on Saturday. Happy hour: Monday–Saturday, 4–6pm

Park & Grove

Park & Grove

730 Rutledge Ave, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

Park & Grove starts earlier than most of the city, with $9 cocktails, $6 wine and $5 beer in a bright Wagener Terrace dining room. There's a free lot across Rutledge Avenue, and Wednesday is burger night. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 3–6pm

Edmund's Original

Edmund's Original

1081 Morrison Dr, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

One of Charleston's best-balanced happy hours: $4 house-brewed beers, $6 house wine, and $8 Old Fashioneds and house gimlets, with spicy pimento cheese and a happy-hour food menu from 3pm. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 3–6pm, at the indoor bar and The Bower

Edmund's Oast Brewing Co.

Edmund's Oast Brewing Co.

1505 King St #115, Charleston, SC 29405, USA

The brewery taproom on upper King, separate from Edmund's Original, takes half off draft beer and adds rotating food and drink specials. Pick it when the group wants to sample several beers outside instead of settling into a restaurant. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–6pm

Rancho Lewis

Rancho Lewis

1503 King St, Charleston, SC 29403, USA

All appetizers and cantina drinks are half price, so you can work through several dishes before deciding whether to stay for fajitas. Outdoor seating makes it a good fit for a group, and it's right next door to Edmund's Oast Brewing if you want a second stop. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–6pm

Happy Hours in Mount Pleasant, Shem Creek and Sullivan's Island

Crossing the bridge opens up Charleston's best waterfront value. Water's Edge is the cheapest drink stop, Community Table has the deepest percentage discount, and The Longboard has the most useful oyster hour, especially on weekends. For more oysters, see our guide to the best seafood restaurants and oyster bars in Charleston.

Water's Edge

Water's Edge

1407 Shrimp Boat Ln, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, USA

$2.75 domestic beers, $3.75 wells, $5 select wines and $10 bar bites, served at both bars and the bar seating around them. Add a Shem Creek sunset and few places in the Charleston area match the combination of price, setting and hours. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–7pm, at the bars

Tavern & Table

Tavern & Table

100 Church St, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, USA

Specials rotate through the year, usually a board, small plates and flatbread alongside drink deals. Water views and a polished bar make it the date-night alternative to the more casual Shem Creek spots, even if the discount is less predictable than at Water's Edge. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–6pm, at the bar

Community Table

Community Table

148 Civitas St, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, USA

Every drink is half price, cocktails included. A limited food menu starts at 3pm, so arrive close to 4 for the overlap. This is the strongest straight drink discount in Mount Pleasant. Happy hour: Monday–Saturday, 4–5:30pm

NICO Oysters + Seafood

NICO Oysters + Seafood

201 Coleman Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, USA

Discounted house oysters, beer, wine, wells and affordable Champagne on Shem Creek. Monday is the day to prioritize, with half-price oysters, and Thursday takes half off bottles of wine. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–6pm

The Longboard

The Longboard

2213-B Middle St, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482, USA

The most useful oyster schedule on this list: raw or grilled oysters at $12 a half-dozen and $24 a dozen, with $10 craft and frozen cocktails, draft wine and cheap local beer. The weekend window makes it ideal after a day on Sullivan's. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 11am–5pm; Saturday–Sunday, 3–5pm

Grace & Grit

Grace & Grit

320 Wingo Way #100, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, USA

All appetizers are half price, with cocktail, beer and wine specials alongside. It's a food-first happy hour in a Southern seafood restaurant, so it works as well for a quick drink as for an early meal of shared plates. Happy hour: Wednesday–Friday, 4–6:30pm

Kid Cashew

Kid Cashew

1440 Ben Sawyer Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, USA

$7 small plates every weekday, plus a different drink deal each day: clear spirits Monday, brown spirits Tuesday, half-price wine bottles Wednesday, $4 drafts Thursday and craft cocktails Friday. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 3–6pm

Happy Hours in Park Circle

Park Circle's three picks are distinct enough that the choice is easy. It comes down to wine, beer and oysters, or a long casual window, and all three sit within a short drive of each other.

Stems & Skins

Stems & Skins

1070 E Montague Ave # B, North Charleston, SC 29405, USA

Aperitivo Hour at one of the area's most serious wine bars. This is not a bargain-bin house-wine situation; it's the time to try something more interesting by the glass with a small plate. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–6pm

Holy City Brewing

Holy City Brewing

1021 Aragon Ave, Charleston, SC 29405, USA

Half-price 16-ounce flagship drafts, $6 wells, wine and cider, and rotating appetizer specials. On Wednesday and Thursday, The Walrus raw bar adds half-price oysters from 4–6pm, which makes for an easy beer-and-oysters plan beside Noisette Creek. Happy hour: Monday–Thursday, 4–6pm

Tattooed Moose

Tattooed Moose

4845 Chateau Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405, USA

Three hours of discounted beer, house wine and select shots. The deal is simple, but the long window, laid-back room and full menu make it one of the easiest group options in Park Circle. Happy hour: Monday–Saturday, 4–7pm

Happy Hours on James Island and in West Ashley

These are neighborhood happy hours, not destination rooftops, and that's the appeal.

Bar George

Bar George

1956 Maybank Hwy Unit E, Charleston, SC 29412, USA

A short window of discounted cocktails, drafts and $5 hot dogs. Bar George is worth a visit beyond happy hour for its oysters, crudo and Peruvian chicken, so treat the deal as a cheap first round rather than the whole plan. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 5–6pm

Bohemian Bull

Bohemian Bull

1531 Folly Rd, Charleston, SC 29412, USA

$5 select appetizers and money off house liquor, wine and beer, including the beer of the month. Wednesday nights bring build-your-own burgers starting at $3. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–7pm

The James

The James

1939a Maybank Hwy, Charleston, SC 29412, USA

Vodka and gin martinis, the house James Island Long Tea and wine are discounted. This is the pick when the group wants a proper restaurant bar rather than a sports bar or brewery. Happy hour: Monday–Tuesday, 5–6pm; Wednesday–Friday, 4–6pm, in the bar and lounge

Triangle Char + Bar

Triangle Char + Bar

828 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, SC 29407, USA

$3.50 domestic bottles and house liquor, $5 house wine, $6 appetizers and $1 off drafts at the Avondale location. It's a long, uncomplicated neighborhood happy hour that works as well for a game as for meeting after work. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–7pm

Charleston Happy Hour Tips

Don't assume the deal applies at your table. The Grocery, Indaco, Coterie, Amen Street, Fleet Landing, Tavern & Table and several others limit their specials to the bar. Ask before ordering if you're seated elsewhere.

Treat a one-hour happy hour like a reservation. At The Grocery, Fleet Landing and The Archer on weekdays, sitting down ten minutes before the end doesn't guarantee every order will qualify.

Pick one neighborhood. Driving from downtown to Shem Creek or Park Circle at rush hour can eat most of a happy-hour window. Stack two or three nearby stops instead.
