Oklahoma State University Guide: Where to Eat, Drink & Stay in Stillwater (2026)

Whether you’re an OSU student still working out your rotation on The Strip, an incoming Cowboy learning Stillwater, a parent in town for move-in, an alum back for a Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium, or a prospective student getting a feel for campus, this guide pulls together the restaurants, bars, hotels, and campus landmarks worth knowing near Oklahoma State University.

Stillwater is a small city of roughly 48,000 that calls itself America’s Friendliest College Town, sitting about an hour from Oklahoma City and a bit more from Tulsa, with not much in between. That isolation is the point: almost everything a visitor needs happens within a mile or so of campus. The areas to know are campus itself, The Strip along Washington Street just off the south edge, the Elm Avenue block at the north edge where Eskimo Joe’s sits across from campus near the stadium, downtown along Main and Husband Streets, and Hall of Fame Avenue on the stadium side where most of the hotels are. The Strip and Elm Avenue sit on opposite corners of campus, about a half mile apart, which is still an easy walk. Everything below is organized so you can find what you need fast.

Stillwater dining clusters tightly. The Elm Avenue block across from campus carries the landmark spots, downtown handles the quieter sit-down meals, and campus itself has the one white-tablecloth room in town. A handful of worthwhile places sit further out on Perkins Road and Boomer Road, and those need a car.

OSU nightlife runs on The Strip, the stretch of Washington Street right at the edge of campus where the student bars sit within a couple of blocks of each other. Downtown along Husband Street carries the calmer rooms, which is where parents and alumni usually end up, and there’s one country dancehall out past the edge of town that’s worth the drive when the right name is on the bill. 

Stillwater’s hotel supply is small, and most of it sits in one cluster along Hall of Fame Avenue east of the stadium. The exception is the on-campus option, which is the only genuinely walk-everywhere choice in town. Home football Saturdays, Homecoming, move-in, and graduation clear the close-in rooms first, and Homecoming in particular brings tens of thousands of alumni back to a town this size, so book early.

OSU’s campus is compact and consistent, almost entirely modified Georgian in red brick, which makes it one of the easier campuses to walk without a map. These six anchor a first visit, and they’re all on the map.
