Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026, and plenty of San Francisco restaurants are cooking. These are the 19 worth booking, from Nob Hill hotel buffets and a Fisherman's Wharf crab spread to neighborhood prix fixes and a $36 turkey dinner you can walk into without a reservation.

Our favorite all-around dinner is The Cavalier, where turkey shares the menu with short rib, salmon and mushroom cannelloni, so nobody gets stuck with a plate they didn't want. Terrene has the best buffet, Top of the Mark is the splurge with the skyline view, Beach Chalet is the easy call for families, and Tommy's Joynt is there when you'd rather skip the planning.

Not every good Thanksgiving here costs $150 a head. Lokma, Catch and 54 Mint all come in at $70 or less before tax and tip, and Chapeau! is serving its regular $75 prix fixe from noon.

Sit-down Thanksgiving dinners in San Francisco hotels

The Cavalier

The Cavalier

360 Jessie St, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA

Our pick for a mixed table. Turkey is on the menu, but so are braised short rib, salmon and mushroom cannelloni, and the sides do the holiday work: onion and Gruyère stuffing, twice-baked sweet potatoes and broccolini. It's a clubby British brasserie in Hotel Zetta, so dinner feels like an occasion without getting stiff. Details: Lunch 11 a.m.–3 p.m. for $130; dinner 3:30–7:15 p.m. for $150. Kids 12 and under get a two-course menu for $50.

MKT Restaurant and Bar

MKT Restaurant and Bar

757 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA

Family-style service at the Four Seasons gives you the abundance of a buffet without anyone leaving the table. Dinner opens with truffle gougères and squash soup, then herb-roasted Diestel turkey arrives with sourdough stuffing, potatoes, green beans, carrots and cranberry sauce. Vegetarians get their own main, sweet potato gnocchi. Details: $195 per person; optional wine pairing $95.

Parallel 37

Parallel 37

600 Stockton St, San Francisco, CA 94108, USA

The Ritz-Carlton's dining room serves a composed three-course dinner in a calm, polished room. With a $100 child price and a mandatory 21% gratuity, it's built for an adult celebration more than a family on a budget. Details: $195 per adult, $100 per child, plus tax and 21% gratuity. Reserve through the hotel.

Pied Piper

Pied Piper

2 New Montgomery St, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA

Thanksgiving in one of the city's great historic bars at the Palace Hotel, under the Maxfield Parrish mural it's named for, with live music and a four-course dinner. The 4–9 p.m. window suits anyone who doesn't want to eat mid-afternoon. Changes inside 48 hours can carry a fee. Details: $115 per adult, $65 per child; 4–9 p.m.

Nob Hill Club

Nob Hill Club

999 California St, San Francisco, CA 94108, USA

The quieter, cheaper way to do Thanksgiving at the Mark Hopkins. You get three courses for $85 while the buffet crowd heads up to Top of the Mark, and vegan mains can be arranged with advance notice. Details: $85, plus a mandatory 19% gratuity; noon–8 p.m.

Bombay Brasserie

Bombay Brasserie

340 Stockton St, San Francisco, CA 94108, USA

Chef Thomas George cooks Indian food with French technique at the Taj Campton Place, and his four-course Thanksgiving feast works classic holiday dishes into that style. It's prepaid, and it suits a table that wants a special meal more than a nostalgic one. Details: $95 per person, prepaid; parties of 1 to 10. Entrance on Campton Place.

The best Thanksgiving buffets in San Francisco

All four buffets here are in or next to hotels. Pick by what matters most to your group: the food, the view, the grandeur or the crab.

Terrene

Terrene

8 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA

The buffet for people who care what's on the buffet. Prime rib, turkey roulade and a raw bar sit alongside the turkey at the 1 Hotel's restaurant, plus composed dishes, desserts and a spread just for kids. Service runs from 3 to 10 p.m., so it works as a late lunch or a proper dinner, and the room looks out on the Embarcadero. Details: $175 per adult, $75 for ages 5 to 12; 3–10 p.m.

Top of the Mark

Top of the Mark

999 California St, San Francisco, CA 94108, USA

Nineteen floors up with the city spread out below, this is Thanksgiving as a milestone. Seatings are fixed, so plan the day around yours, and send vegan or other dietary requests early. Details: $236 per adult, $85 for ages 3 to 12, plus tax and a 19% gratuity. Seatings at 12:30, 1, 4:30 and 5 p.m.

Laurel Court

Laurel Court

950 Mason St, San Francisco, CA 94108, USA

The grand-hotel version: a Thanksgiving buffet at the Fairmont under soaring ceilings, with sparkling wine and live music. It's made for a multigenerational group that wants an unhurried afternoon, and by Thanksgiving the lobby is fully dressed for the holidays, life-sized Gingerbread House included. Details: $130.80–$262.80 per person depending on ticket type; noon–7 p.m.; reservations required.

Blue Mermaid

Blue Mermaid

495 Jefferson St, San Francisco, CA 94109, USA

Fresh Dungeness crab and Bay seafood share the buffet with the traditional holiday spread, chef-prepared entrées and desserts. It's the obvious move if you're staying near the Wharf, and the right one if someone at the table would happily trade turkey for crab. Details: $135 per adult, $69 for kids 10 and under, plus tax and service.

Neighborhood restaurants open on Thanksgiving

Away from the hotels, San Francisco's neighborhood restaurants cover everything from an ambitious Bernal Heights prix fixe to a $69 Turkish-Californian dinner on Clement Street.

3rd Cousin

3rd Cousin

919 Cortland Ave, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA

The most ambitious cooking in the guide comes from a Bernal Heights neighborhood restaurant. Organic Diestel turkey and rib of beef anchor the menu, there's a vegetarian lumache pasta, and both desserts, pumpkin and chocolate-pecan, are gluten-free. Details: $149 per adult, $59 for 12 and under, plus a 7% surcharge and 20% service charge. Optional wine pairing $65.

Beach Chalet

Beach Chalet

1000 Great Hwy, San Francisco, CA 94121, USA

The Pacific fills the windows, which makes this an easy win with family in from out of town. Start with butternut squash soup or radicchio and endive salad, choose turkey, sea bass or farro risotto, and finish with pumpkin cheesecake or apple crisp. Details: $85 per adult, $37.50 for 12 and under.

L'Ardoise Bistro

L'Ardoise Bistro

151 Noe St, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA

A small French bistro where Thanksgiving feels like date night. Squash soup or warm goat cheese leads into traditional holiday cooking, filet mignon or halibut with lobster sauce, and dessert is apple tarte Tatin, cranberry bread pudding or chocolate mousse. Details: $95 per person; reservations for parties of 1 to 4.

Catch

Catch

2362 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA

A cozy Castro seafood bistro with a fireplace and a covered patio, right at Market and Castro. The Thanksgiving menu lets everyone pick their own starter, entrée and dessert, and the noon–9 p.m. window means you can book around everything else the day throws at you. Details: $70 per person; noon–9 p.m.

54 Mint

54 Mint

16 Mint Plaza, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA

A Roman trattoria across from the Old Mint, where chef Mattia Marcelli turns Thanksgiving into a family-style Italian meal built around fall flavors. Pasta and desserts are made in house daily, and at $70 it's one of the best-value ways to feed a group. Details: $70 per person; parties of 1 to 12.

Lokma

Lokma

1801 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, USA

Turkish and California cooking shape this four-course dinner, and a turkey course keeps it grounded in the holiday. At $69 it's the cheapest reservable multicourse dinner in the guide. Tables turn after two hours, so treat it as dinner, not an all-afternoon hang. Details: $69 per person; 4–9:30 p.m.; parties of 1 to 9.

Abrazo

Abrazo

2000 Hyde St, San Francisco, CA 94109, USA

A full Thanksgiving dinner sized for two: apple-cider-glazed turkey breast, mushroom stuffing, potatoes, roasted vegetables, cranberry and pumpkin mousse. The feast has to be preordered, and the regular menu is available too. Details: $179 for two; preorder required.

Chapeau!

Chapeau!

126 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, USA

Chapeau! serves its regular three-course prix fixe on Thanksgiving, so expect French bistro cooking, not a turkey dinner. Chef Philippe Gardelle has run this cozy room on Clement Street since 1996, and it's a good call when half the table is tired of turkey before it's even served. Details: $75 per person; noon–8:30 p.m.

Thanksgiving dinner without a reservation

Tommy's Joynt

Tommy's Joynt

1101 Geary Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94109, USA

If nobody booked anything, this is your answer. Order at the counter, find a seat in the old-school hofbrau, and get a full turkey dinner for $36. Be ready for a line. Takeout and a preordered dinner for four are options too. Details: $36; dine-in 11 a.m.–8 p.m., takeout 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Dinner for four $168 by preorder, pickup 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

Three things to check before you book

  • What gets added to the bill. Several restaurants add a mandatory gratuity or service charge, especially the Nob Hill hotels and 3rd Cousin. Look at the booking page before you prepay.
  • What the kids' ticket covers. Prices and age cutoffs vary a lot, from $37.50 at Beach Chalet to $100 at Parallel 37, and some kids' tickets come with a different menu.
  • Dietary requests. MKT, Beach Chalet and 3rd Cousin list vegetarian mains. The Mark Hopkins restaurants need advance notice for vegan meals.
