Bringing kids to a bar in New York works best when you pick the right kind of bar. This guide covers breweries, beer gardens and neighborhood pubs across all five boroughs where families are part of the daytime crowd, not places where children are merely allowed through the door.

Space, real food, outdoor seating, kids menus, high chairs, changing tables and a clearly published age policy all counted in a bar's favor. Where a bar posts an exact cutoff we've listed it, because those rules vary a lot.

One rule applies everywhere: you're responsible for your kids. Several breweries say outright that children can't run around a working taproom.

Family-Friendly Bars in Manhattan

Manhattan has fewer big beer gardens than Brooklyn, but it has the best all-weather options. Sixpoint at Brookfield Place and The Bronx Brewery at Hudson Yards are both indoors, both serve real food and both say plainly that kids are welcome.

In warm weather, Frying Pan and Ellington in the Park make the better afternoon. Both close for the winter.

Sixpoint Brewery at Brookfield Place

Sixpoint Brewery at Brookfield Place

200 Liberty St Ste 106-A, New York, NY 10281, USA

All ages are welcome at Sixpoint's Brookfield Place taproom, and it has a full kitchen, so this is the easy Manhattan pick on a cold or rainy day. Grab a table, then walk the kids along the Battery Park City waterfront after. No outside food.

The Bronx Brewery & Hudson Yards Kitchen

The Bronx Brewery & Hudson Yards Kitchen

20 Hudson Yards Unit 207, New York, NY 10001, USA

Inside the Shops at Hudson Yards and openly family-friendly, with nachos, burritos, bowls and empanadas plus soft drinks for the kids. More of a handy stop after the High Line than a destination. Open daily 11am to 9pm, indoors only.

The Standard Biergarten

The Standard Biergarten

848 Washington St, New York, NY 10014, USA

A real beer garden under the High Line with communal tables, pretzels, sausages and ping-pong. The rules are specific: kids with a parent are fine Sunday through Thursday at any time and Friday until 6pm, and no children at all on Saturday.

Frying Pan NYC

Frying Pan NYC

Red Boat In Park, 207 12th Ave, New York, NY 10001, USA

A bar and grill on an old ship at Pier 66, and one of the few places that says outright that children are welcome. There are high chairs and a kids menu. It's seasonal and weather dependent, running roughly April to mid October.

Ellington in the Park

Ellington in the Park

Riverside Dr &, W 105th St, New York, NY 10025, USA

Sits inside Riverside Park at 105th Street and welcomes children during all opening hours. The lower level opens onto ball fields and there's a sandpit nearby, so kids can run while you finish a drink. Open daily 11am to 11pm from late April through October.

City Vineyard

City Vineyard

233 West St, New York, NY 10013, USA

City Winery's waterfront spot at Pier 26, which bills itself as kid-friendly and dog-friendly. It's more wine bar and restaurant than pub, with weekend brunch and Hudson River Park's playgrounds close by.

Loreley Beer Garden

Loreley Beer Garden

7 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002, USA

Lower East Side beer garden with a heated garden and picnic tables, open daily from noon. It's a 21 and over bar, but kids under 13 can eat with a parent at a table until a strict 9pm curfew. Good for an early dinner, not a place to let them roam.

Treadwell Park

Treadwell Park

1125 1st Ave, New York, NY 10065, USA

Upper East Side beer hall with ping-pong, plenty of TVs and a Kids' Favorites section on the brunch menu (mac and cheese, mini waffles). Go for weekend brunch or an early game and keep it to daytime.

Harlem Tavern

Harlem Tavern

2153 Frederick Douglass Blvd, New York, NY 10026, USA

Big patio, communal tables and a menu wide enough to feed everyone at 116th and Frederick Douglass. Families use it for brunch and daytime meals. The sports bar crowd takes over later, so go early.

Kid-Friendly Bars and Breweries in Brooklyn

Brooklyn is where bringing a stroller to a brewery is most normal. Strong Rope in Red Hook is our overall pick, TALEA is the easiest with a baby, and Greenwood Park is the one for a big group.

Watch the cutoffs. Greenwood Park is 21 and over after 7pm, Radegast after 8pm, and Threes after 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Strong Rope Brewery Red Hook

Strong Rope Brewery Red Hook

185 Van Dyke St, Brooklyn, NY 11231, USA

Our top pick. The Red Hook taproom calls itself family-friendly, sits right on the water with plenty of room, and keeps a shelf of games. Kids need to stay with an adult and can't run around the brewery. There's no kitchen, so bring food.

TALEA Beer Co - Williamsburg

TALEA Beer Co - Williamsburg

87 Richardson St, Brooklyn, NY 11211, USA

The best choice with a baby or toddler. The founders are both moms and it shows: stroller parking, changing tables and high chairs, plus pizza, pretzels and coffee. It opens in the morning, which helps.

Greenwood Park

Greenwood Park

555 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215, USA

A 13,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor beer garden in an old gas station, with bocce and long picnic tables. Families are welcome during the day and it's 21 and over after 7pm. Great for a birthday or a parent meetup. Opens at 3pm Monday to Thursday.

Threes Brewing

Threes Brewing

333 Douglass St, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA

Gowanus brewery with a big backyard, a kitchen and very good beer. Families are welcome, kids under 16 need an adult, and it's 21 and over after 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Stroller space inside is tight, so you may be asked to park it outside.

Other Half Brewing Domino Park

Other Half Brewing Domino Park

34 River St, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA

Waterfront taproom right beside Domino Park, so the playground and the beer are a minute apart. Kids are welcome if they're well behaved and closely supervised. No kitchen, but you can bring food in.

Radegast Hall & Biergarten

Radegast Hall & Biergarten

113 N 3rd St, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA

The classic Williamsburg beer hall, with German food, live music and long communal tables. No minors after 8pm, and no strollers on Saturdays, so pick another day if you've got a baby.

The Dram Shop Bar

The Dram Shop Bar

339 9th St, Brooklyn, NY 11215, USA

A proper Park Slope pub that tells you to bring the whole family. Kids eat free on Saturdays from 11am to 4pm, and there's a kids menu, high chairs and a changing table, plus pool, darts and board games. A good one for watching a game with kids in tow.

Wild East Brewing Co.

Wild East Brewing Co.

623 Sackett St, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA

Relaxed Gowanus taproom that welcomes well-supervised kids during the day and early evening. You can bring your own food, and dogs are welcome too. It opens at 2pm on weekdays, so a weekend afternoon suits it best.

Evil Twin Brewing NYC - DUMBO

Evil Twin Brewing NYC - DUMBO

43 Main St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA

Compact taproom a short walk from Brooklyn Bridge Park and Jane's Carousel. Supervised, well-behaved kids are welcome. No kitchen, so bring snacks. Think of it as a stop on a DUMBO day, not the main event.

Black Forest Brooklyn

Black Forest Brooklyn

733 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA

Fort Greene beer hall with solid German food and outdoor seating, open from 10am. Come for lunch or an early dinner. It's a food-first beer hall, not a place built around kids.

Family-Friendly Bars in Queens

Queens has the city's classic family beer garden in Bohemian Hall, where everyone under 21 is out by 9pm. Around it are low-key taprooms in Long Island City and Ridgewood, a huge barbecue spot, and in Rivercrest a sports bar with its own kids menu.

Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden

Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden

29-19 24th Ave, Astoria, NY 11105, USA

Astoria's huge old beer garden, with picnic tables under the trees and Czech food from the kitchen. Kids are welcome with a parent or guardian, and everyone under 21 has to be out by 9pm. Weekend afternoons are the time to go. Closed Mondays.

Fifth Hammer Brewing Company

Fifth Hammer Brewing Company

10-28 46th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101, USA

Low-key Long Island City taproom where well-behaved, supervised kids are welcome, and leashed dogs too. There's no kitchen, but food trucks and pop-ups show up often and you can bring or order in your own.

Evil Twin Brewing NYC

Evil Twin Brewing NYC

16-16 George St, Ridgewood, NY 11385, USA

The Ridgewood original, with a greenhouse room and a yard of picnic tables. Supervised, well-behaved kids are welcome. No kitchen, so check who's popping up or bring food. It tolerates kids more than it caters to them.

Rivercrest

Rivercrest

33-15 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria, NY 11105, USA

A real Astoria sports bar that happens to have a kids menu (popcorn chicken, grilled cheese, mac and cheese) and kids drinks like Shirley Temples and blueberry lemonade. Best for brunch or an early game.

Focal Point Beer Co

Focal Point Beer Co

43-50 12th St, Long Island City, NY 11101, USA

Indoor and outdoor taproom on a quiet Long Island City plaza where kids have room to move. In 2026 it ran a Sip & Sensory event with art and sensory stations for kids while parents had a beer. You can bring in food from the places next door.

Pig Beach BBQ Queens

Pig Beach BBQ Queens

35-37 36th St Ground Floor, Astoria, NY 11106, USA

Huge indoor and outdoor barbecue spot in Astoria that local parents keep recommending for groups with babies and kids. You order at the counter, grab a picnic table and spread out. Closed Mondays.

Family-Friendly Bars in the Bronx

The Bronx list is short. The Grove at Dakota's is the clearest family pick, a waterfront beer garden that opens on weekends in season. The Bronx Beer Hall works as part of an Arthur Avenue food afternoon.

The Bronx Brewery's original taproom no longer runs daily service, so use its Hudson Yards location in the Manhattan section.

The Grove at Dakota's + Pumpkin Patch

The Grove at Dakota's + Pumpkin Patch

3154 Harding Ave, Bronx, NY 10465, USA

Waterfront beer garden in Throggs Neck that says it plainly: family-friendly, kids welcome. Picnic tables, fire pits, cornhole, Connect 4 and giant Jenga, and leashed dogs are fine. It's seasonal and weather dependent, open Friday to Sunday.

The Bronx Beer Hall

The Bronx Beer Hall

2344 Arthur Ave, Bronx, NY 10458, USA

Beer hall in the middle of the Arthur Avenue Retail Market. Everyone picks food from the market counters around it while the adults get a craft beer. A daytime stop, and a good anchor for an afternoon in the Bronx's Little Italy. Closed Mondays.

Brewski's Bar & Grill

Brewski's Bar & Grill

3718 E Tremont Ave, Bronx, NY 10465, USA

Throggs Neck bar and grill with a kids section on the menu and a full restaurant setup. A neighborhood option for an easy family dinner with a beer.

Family-Friendly Bars on Staten Island

Two breweries and a historic German beer garden. Flagship posts the clearest rule on the island, kids welcome before 9pm, and Kills Boro has the kitchen if you want a full meal.

The Flagship Brewing Company

The Flagship Brewing Company

40 Minthorne St, Staten Island, NY 10301, USA

Staten Island's hometown brewery, dog-friendly and family-friendly, with kids welcome in the taproom before 9pm. There's outdoor seating and no kitchen yet, so order in from a local restaurant. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Kills Boro Brewing Company

Kills Boro Brewing Company

814 Richmond Ter, Staten Island, NY 10301, USA

Big taproom on Richmond Terrace that opened in 2025, with a full kitchen doing pizza and pasta and a large outdoor area. Easy for a family lunch. Closed Tuesdays.

Killmeyer's

Killmeyer's

4254 Arthur Kill Rd, Staten Island, NY 10309, USA

Historic German restaurant with a seasonal beer garden at the far south end of Staten Island. Come for German food and a beer in the garden in warm weather. Closed Mondays.

Can You Bring Kids to a Bar in NYC?

Yes. New York State has no law banning children from bars and no legal curfew. The state rule (Penal Law 260.21) is that a child under 16 has to be with a parent, a guardian or an adult the parent has authorized. Nobody under 21 can be served.

Everything else is house policy. Bars set their own cutoffs, usually somewhere between 6pm and 9pm, and some tighten up on weekends. A few restrict strollers because of space. Weekend afternoons, roughly noon to 5pm, are the easy window almost everywhere.
